The views of the mountains outside (and probably on the higher levels) were incredible. Our room view on the first floor was garbage. The hallway carpets were foul and dingy. Our room was not what we expected from a Hilton. The pool was neat but dirty and over full. So many kids running around unsupervised over the whole hotel. Three stars nearly everywhere, except probably four or five stars by Gatlinburg's low standards. The cookies they gave us at check in were good at least. Beds were comfortable and the complimentary fridge was nice perk. Wifi was not free and our room wasn't ready until an hour and a half after our check in time was supposed to be. We won't be back.

Absolutely a wonderful place to stay! Right on the strip of Gatlinburg but up in the mountain so it s away from the busy strip of Gatlinburg. The tram runs every 15 min, for $2 a day you can ride it anywhere and don t have to drive if you choose. Very friendly staff, a warm welcome cookie upon arrival, clean and comfy room! Great view of the beautiful mountains. Very affordable and definitely met our expectations for our trip. The only thing negative I can think of is the price of food within the hotel is a little pricey but you get lots of food with it.
Best Hotel in the Smoky Mountains but beware of walking to town it is a steep hill and hike...Bonus ...the pool and Waterslide also the best cookie you will ever eat as complimentary at check in Yum...Although I also love the Sydney James Lodge
Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and over looks the mountain which is the main reason we came here. They even gave us a cookie foe checking in...it was a good cookie!
The Park Vista is a nice hotel overall. Bring a double tree I was expecting a more business focused atmosphere. The hotel lobby is beautiful, and rooms are me spacious than other double trees. The room designs are very unique, the view from the top floors are nice as well.
We stay here every fall break. This year is probably our last. Every year we arrive we go sit by the fire pit outside. They said it was broke this year. Bar staff said it's been having problems since last spring. Why wouldn't the hotel stay on top of this. Guest coming in from out of town want to sit outside enjoy the weather. I asked a lady at the hotel if maintenance could take a look at it. Her reply is there probably working on a bigger problem like an a/c unit. Why would an employee tell a guest that. Some people should not be in management. Robbie at front desk apologized and was embarrassed her staff told a guest that an a/c unit had more priority. Other problems were the WI-FI has been down since we got here. How can a hotel this size only Have 5 bellmen carts. Also waited 25 mins for an elevator that wasn't full. How is that possible in 2017. Last rant We had dinner Saturday night at the hotel. The Prime Rib was awesome but the service was horrible. It's a buffet couldn't get the Waiter to refill a drink to save my life. Hotel has lost its Ability to take care of its guest. Front desk not very friendly of helpful. Been coming here for years time to look for another hotel.
Manager would not let me park my car in front of the hotel and help my 15 year old daughter carry her luggage from the 11th floor. Completely rude and a jerk. I will never come to this place again.
We had a 4 star experience at this hotel because the indoor swimming pool was a little cold for my kids to swim in and enjoy. Besides that, the room and amenities were great. The hotel was great. Lacation and the view overlooking Gatlinburg in the fall was absolutely beautiful!
We have stayed preferentially in Hilton affiliated hotels for decades. Not once, until this stay, have we ever been dissatisfied.
The hotel did not honor our request to use honor points for one night. When I questioned the check-in clerk, I was told that I needed to take it up with Hilton Honors. Thus, we paid the full price for every night, plus a premium for the higher floors already designated with a placard as reserved for Hilton Honors members.
The first morning, as I often do, I left a tip for housekeeping, with a request for extra coffee. Somehow, this must have insulted the housekeeping staff, because no extra coffee was left, but the cash was gone. The room was poorly cleaned, the dirty towels left behind. Additionally, there was a sour smell left in the room, a phenomenon that wasn't repeated for the rest of the stay.
On December 25, the breakfast buffet food was cold; dirty dishes and silverware were in the serving line, and a used coffee cup was left on table for us to use. The waiter seemed to have an issue with replacing it with a clean one. I noted other guests using napkins, as did we, to wipe food particles from the dishes before going through the breakfast line. The waiter did not take our check up for payment, although he did so for all his other guests. When we took it up ourselves, the clerk either did not like people, or was resentful of having to work Christmas Day, and her attitude came through the payment process.
Our room was not cleaned or made up on 25th. When I inquired if staff was off for Christmas, I was told "no, they are still working on other rooms, please be patient." The room did not get cleaned that day.Our sheets were not changed in the entire 5 day stay.
On January 8, 2016 at about 5:00 p.m., I received a call from the Park Vista to discuss our issues during our stay December 23 28. The representative seemed surprised at the number of problems we experienced. Ultimately, however, the resolution to our problems was not acceptable to us. The hotel chose not to uphold their advertised 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee.
Regarding the various housekeeping issues and the restaurant problems, she apologized several times, stating that she would address them with appropriate staff so that such things would not happen again. I pointed out that this might help other customers, but did nothing for us. I stated that the poor level of customer service and complete lack of housekeeping during the five-day stay was not what we would expect from a Hilton Family property, and certainly not in an instance where we had spent close to $1,000.00.
She then stated that we should have spoken to a manager for the hotel, so the issues could be resolved without resorting to reporting to this level of escalation. I reminded her that we had indeed spoken to a manager regarding the housekeeping issues, and that we had been lied to regarding them. For example, when I inquired if housekeeping staff had Christmas Day off, as out room had not been cleaned, I was told "no, they are still working on other rooms, please be patient." The room did not get cleaned that day, and the sheets were not changed in the entire five day stay. I could understand this for a $20 a night property, but not for one that cost us in excess of $174 a night.
By way of compensation for the problems, the manager initially offered us a voucher for another stay, if we thought we would return to the area. While we will indeed be back to Gatlinburg, our first experience with a Doubletree was bad enough that we have determined it will also be our last, so an additional stay voucher would be of no use to us. Instead, since we spent the entire vacation wishing we had stayed at the Hampton Inn in Gatlinburg, I informed her that we wanted a complete refund. I reluctantly settled on two nights refund, for which she promised to email a receipt. Two nights does not live up to their 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee , as mentioned on their survey, and in their advertising.
Best hotel in Gatlinburg by far. Great views a beautiful lobby. Piano is not playable, but for a good reason. The pool tends to get overran with children 5 to 15 that horse around (obviously going against the rules) and the parents just watch and let them. Pool needs to be deeper too. The price is very high, but somewhat manageable.
Worst Hilton experience ever! My room was not ready until 7:30pm even though I checked in online and chose the option that I would arrive at 4pm. The front desk clerk blamed it on housekeeping problems. The manger offered a free breakfast but did not back up his 100% customer satisfaction. The pool area was filthy. The floors needed to be swept and mopped. The entrance to the pool was nasty. The pool area smelled so bad of chlorine, I had to leave the area because my eyes were burning badly. My daughters skin was severely irritated after getting out of the pool and her bathing suit was extremely faded. Once we finally got into our room it was not properly cleaned. The sliding glass door did not close well and it made a horrible noise all night long with the wind screeching though the door. The mountain view from the hotel was beautiful but the driveway is very steep. There is no way to walk to downtown Gatlinburg from this hotel. The driveway would be way to dangerous for people walking. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The front desk staff and the manager were rude and had no concern that people were upset regarding the check in process. I can not believe this is a Hilton property.
Easily my favorite hotel in Gatlinburg. Ample parking (rare in GB), a truly good restaurant with an excellent breakfast. Large indoor pool with great slides for the kids, hot tub for the adults. Nice gift shop and attentive staff. Most rooms have great views. The bar is relaxing and the rooms are clean and well appointed. Terrific value when compared to other local hotels.
I have stayed here several times since 2012. The room rates are usually reasonable and the location has great access to the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. You can also take the bypass streets to get around town without getting stuck in traffic on the main drag. A trolley shuttle bus serves the hotel so you don't have to drive and park in the main area of town.
The location of this hotel is great. It's a little difficult during peak times of day to get into due to proximity to Gatlinburg. We had a mountain view room, and loved it. The hotel was very clean and the staff super friendly. The only negative was waiting on the elevator since we were on the 11th floor and had small children with us. The pool area is amazing for kids. There is no lifeguard on duty so you really have to keep an eye on your kids with the water slide.
My family and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Our room was on the 15th floor so we had an amazing view. The pool was really nice. The only downside was that there was a prom and other events going on the time of our stay. It was a little chaotic with a bunch of teenagers hanging around and getting a parking space that was close to the entrance was a problem. We would definitely stay here again but I will check to see what was going on at the time of our stay before booking.
Our view not so good and unable to sit out on the patio to small for chairs. Nice facility ran out of coffee in am had to ask and wait. Need to ask for the $10.00 up grade that they didn't have when we got there and I had BOOKED last Augs
The staff are friendly and helpful. The service is great. The facility is clean and well maintained. The views of the mountains are spectacular. The location is less than 5 minutes by trolly to shops and restaurants. Hotel has a swimming pool with 2 slides. The restaurant has good breakfast and dinner.
Nice hotel. Rooms and views were great. Resturant was good also. We had room service our second night and it was excellent. Only thing I wish they would change... kids in the hot tub.. I'm talking young ones under the age of 5. Or maybe have adult hours?
The hotel is really great: it feels fancy, and the place has great views. The rooms are clean and they all have small balconies that let you look out at the mountains. Great place, friendly staff, definitely a good place to stay.
Went here in 1998 when I was 12 and I still have fond memories of the hotel's atmosphere to this day. However, I must advise against rollerblading down the service ramp to the right of the main entrance. Unless you want an unforgettably painful firsthand lesson in Newton's First Law. 4 stars
Pros: very nice hotel. Very beautiful. Clean. Not far from attractions/downtown.
Cons: parking is terrible. Seems as if there are way more rooms than parking spots. Had to "create" a spot. Sink in room seemed a little clogged but that wasn't an issue really.
Old hotel trying to be a bougie place. Service was accommodating but not genuine, if that makes sense. Location is far from downtown that you have to rely on either your car or the shuttle to the main areas of Gatlinburg. Onsite restaurant was a good amenity si che you'll be too lazy to drive to downtown. I'd recommend somewhere closer to the main road.
Must first admit I was there for a conference and did not stay overnight. Staff great and accommodating. They quickly added chairs to an overcrowded room. Conference room decor is dated but served the purpose. Adjusted room temp (thanks!). The Food Was Outstanding. Buffet with nice variety and quite tasty. Parking is difficult. Not enough spaces close to entrance. Glad it wasn't raining.
This hotel is in need of some renovations. The carpet in the restaurant area is pretty stained. Its easy to see its just not being cleaned as it should. The same goes for the room we had, 1403. Carpet was fairly dirty and even had a sticky spot near the desk. Not exactly sure whats to be included with a city view balcony because ours was unusable. The entire thing was covered in water and green slime our entire 3 night stay. The few times we opened the slider to get any fresh air, we were immediately overwhelmed with the smell of someone below smoking weed for 2 of the 3 nights, not exactly a smoke free room at that point. The smell was so pungent it made my wife feel sick. Toss the person next to us in 1404 slamming their door every time they took the little yip yap dogs outside, and it sealed the deal. We won't return. This was a let down from our normal Hilton brand experiences. We've stayed at many throughout Florida, Alabama, Michigan, and Tennessee and this was the worst.
The waitstaff and servers in the restaurant were all very polite and friendly. Breakfast was always done just right. But dinner is lacking at this location. Granted the panic-demic has made everyone pull back a bit on their menus, but a few more dinner choices would've been appreciated. The current set up is nothing like it used to be.
That being said, as much as we liked efficient check-in and friendly staff. Our room (and rude neighbors) was enough to deter us from returning.
Very nice place. Awesome view, easy to get to. They farmout their reservation services to a 3rd party. If you DON'T speak English, you'll do OK. We got booked to another hotel due to the language barrier. Luckily for us, the management was able to help. We had honeymooned here 25 years ago and was here on our Silver. Glad it didn't go terribly wrong.
The hotel had a very appealing lobby. The room was a good size and very neat. The balcony was not what I expected. It was only a walk out and not one to sit on and enjoy the views. I appreciate the fact they allow pets. However, they say pet friendly and I say pet tolerant. Pets are not allowed on patio with you and they were not even sure if they could go on the shuttle to town. I am thinking that if you allow pets it can be assumed that people will ask these questions and you should know the answer. That is just something that would account for good customer service. Overall, the hotel was very nice with lots of outdoor space. I would recommend it and I would stay there again.
Worst hotel stay EVER!!!! Very unprofessional. No parking for paying hotel guest. We came for a three night stay. Both Saturday and Sunday night we had no where to park due to the hotel having a private event. So in other words nonpaying people were taking our parking spaces. The employees handle this situation horribly. Paying guest were made to park down into the "overage" parking which was really a employee parking lot. It looked like a scary back alley. When we refused to park there Sunday night at midnight due to safety concerns we were threatened with the hotel employee calling the cops on us. Finally the private event ended after midnight and we were able to find a space when someone left. We will never stay here again. Hotel employees made us feel like the bad guy when we did nothing wrong. . All we wanted to do was park and got to our room.
Such a great place to stay! So comfy and great sleep. Great view from the mountain looking down over Gatlinburg. Great indoor pool with slides and hot tub.
The view is breathtaking, the hotel is amazing, the staff is extremely kind, and everything about this place is great.
There is one thing though, my aunt cannot fit her wheelchair through the handicapped stall in the restroom. That really takes away the point of it, and she couldn't use the restroom.
Great views. Nice pool. 4/5 only because the place needs a little work; Windows are leaky in rooms and pool area needs a few small repairs. My kids had a blast. We spent hours at the pool. All the food available was great but a little pricy. I would return.
I have generally been pleased when I stay at Hilton hotels however this one puts the Hilton brand and name to shame! This hotel hosted my family reunion this past weekend, which included almost 80 people, and we also used the hotel's catering services...so we brought a lot of business to this hotel this weekend. Our check-in process was fine. After that, we decided to go out to eat, only to come back around 10 pm to find that the power was out in the hotel. People were stuck in the elevators, there wasn't any AC, etc. Mind you, we had elderly family members in our party...how dangerous! The staff also did not provide people with flashlights. They should've been more prepared because, apparently, this happened two weeks ago. My family decided to make the best of the situation and gather outside in front of the hotel only to be told that we couldn't be where we were. We were then moved to the fire pit but then were told that we were too loud so we were moved again to the conference room. We moved 2 times to be more convenient to the staff and guest, which was fine. But when we're in the conference room (sound-proof and away from guest rooms) and the same night manager (Nancy) keeps coming in with other staff members to tell us we're being too loud (even though when you step outside of the conference room, you can't hear a thing), it becomes harassment at that point. This all happened on Friday night. Power was restored sometime between 2 am and 7 am. Saturday morning, it is like pulling teeth to get the front desk to do something about how all of the guests were inconvenienced Friday night but they FINALLY gave out free breakfast buffet vouchers (and I don't think they gave this to every guest which is also wrong). Fast forward to Saturday night, again Nancy moves us (and another group of guests) to two different locations but not before threatening us and the other group with a phone call to the police if we did not move from outside. The problem with that is that we weren't trying to stay out there...we were trying to leave but she wouldn't tell us where we could go at first. We suggest going to the conference room again and she agrees to let us use it. Sunday morning arrives and the front desk is refusing to give breakfast vouchers or take any discounts off of the room for everyone's inconvenience. A lot of the staff members were extremely rude, with one staff member (Carlos) telling one of my family members "Since you're getting breakfast for free (Saturday morning), you need to tip your waitress!" Beyond rude and disgusting! I have called the corporate office (as I was told to do by Christine/a manager) and they stated that it is the hotel's responsibility to remedy the issue instead of trying to pawn it off on the corporate office however the hotel managers did everything they could to avoid doing so. Also, the wifi was down most of the time (even when the power was back on) and when it did work, it was very spotty/not consistent throughout the hotel. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!
I had a wonderful stay at The Park Vista hotel. The hotel staff were absolutely amazing. Very friendly, helpful and polite. The food for both breakfast and dinner were really good and reasonably priced. My room had a great view of the mountains and was fairly clean. There were a lot of ladybugs in my room that I wish I was notified of prior to checking in. While checking out I was told that this is common during the warm weather.
Beautiful hotel ..we have stayed here on our anniversary before Randy passed away. I will never forget the open floor with the amazing lights from floor to ceiling and I really miss seeing Gatlinburg..hopefully I will be back here and bring friends and family members the next time..
Love love love this hotel. The rooms are nice and the complimentary breakfast for gold members is awesome. Omelets are prepared fresh after your order and the portions are excellent. The staff from the front desk to housekeepers were attentive.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and was cleaned very well daily. However the hotel is showing it's age. Elevators were main problem. One working all the time 2nd was not dependable. Third elevator did not work during our visit. Service elevators were busy with staff and other guests. Long waits for elevators was very frustrating. But for the price we paid it was food deal
My wife and I were going to come to Gatlinburg for our church's annual couples retreat; and we looked and looked for the right hotel to spend our night. I stumbled upon the Park Vista on Google Maps and enjoyed reading all the good reviews they had. My expectations were high.
Upon arrival, they totally exceeded my expectations. It's amazing architecturally, but what amazed us most was the customer service and the friendliness of the staff. We were greeted with two warm cookies and a smile, and the check in process was a breeze. The hotel was very clean and our room on the Hilton members floor was amazing. We were first time guests, but the kind lady at the front desk signed us up for a free Hilton membership.
We were truly refreshed with our time there. The views on the 11th floor were great, the room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. They were doing some construction and renovation when we were there so I could understand if some guest were probably inconvenienced, but we were not and had a great time.
We are looking forward til the next time we can stay there!
We got our room last minute, spur of the moment trip. Google maps doesn't take you directly to the hotel, which is on top of a mountain. The girl at the front desk was very friendly, the room was beautiful and had an amazing view. Breakfast was great, our waitress Jennifer was hilarious and the cook sheila makes a mean omelet. At a $180 a night this particular hotel went above and beyond of what I was expecting. I wish I could stay longer but I would definitely recommend it and will return.
We have stayed at the Vista before and had such a wonderful experience. So we decided to book our stay again at the Vista this year. However this experience was not very pleasant. I am very unhappy with how the staff handled our situation. When I called to book the room, I asked if the indoor pool was open, since we were booking same day as our check in. I was told yes that the indoor pool was open and would be till midnight. So the family and I checked in, went to our room and the kids immediately wanted to go to the pool. So the family headed to the pool to find out that it was closed. It had been for quite some time, so it was no unexpected incident that occurred just a bit ago. When we asked about getting some sort of refund, we were told we could check out and not be charged. Well, I hope if we check out and leave that we wouldn't be charged since we didn't stay. There was no I'm sorry, no offer of a discount since we paid 303.00 a night. As much as we paid, there should have been some offer as to a discount or something. No empathy from the staff at all. So we packed up the kids and left. I will never stay at the Vista again b/c of this. It's not the whole fact the pool was not working, but how the staff treated us. One, we asked before we booked and were told one thing and when we went to the pool it was closed. No one told us even when we checked in. I felt lied too. I felt like they were hoping we would over look the fact. We were able to go down the street and find a hotel with an indoor pool that worked and were welcomed with open arms. They even told us sorry that we had that experience, and they don't even work at the Vista!!
Staff is friendly, beds are very comfy & the swimming pool area is very nice! we re suppose to get a Mountain View room, when we called that s what we booked & we ended up getting a view of the town instead, which is no big deal. Overall good hotel and very clean.
This is a nice hotel with a great view! However, I felt it was a little pricey for the condition of the room, just as some others have said. The furniture was dusty and old, small patio with no chairs, no breakfast, small bathroom, and the pool was closed. I would stay here again if it was cheaper!
They really took care of us! A beautiful view and awesome rooms that made me feel the best of my vacation. So close to town but I still felt separate on top of this little hill so it still felt private.
Beautiful location atop a hill at the base of the Smokey mountains. Overlooking the town of Gatlinburg. Little tricky to find but well worth it. Plenty of parking for the most part. Front desk staff was great, check in went smoothly. Lobby area is awesome. It's a round structure so there are many unique aspects to experience. Housekeeping does a great job. My room was clean, comfortable, and the mountain view was awesome. Highly recommend.
