Always a pleasure dining at Metro. Literally never disappoints no matter what location or chain I visit in Florida.

Wow! This was an amazing dining experience. They do make you feel like a local. Jasmine was a great server. She anticipated our every need and was a delight! The Monte Cristo sandwich was enough for two meals and tasted great. Meatloaf, Pot Roast, Mashed potatoes were a hit! My son ordered the Pittsburgh sandwich, huge! Thanks for a great lunch.

The food is always good. The service outstanding. It's amazing how well they manage the high number of guests they get everyday. Stephanie is a very attentive hostess.

Excellent service tonight by Desiree', she was very welcoming and friendly. She asked other servers for answer to a question we had which she couldn't answer...the response was right on target.
The kitchen had our food ready very quickly, and Desiree' anticipated our every need with no wait!

I tried the Charleston shrimp & grits, which was deliciously rich and so filling. I could barely only eat half of the portion, I brought the rest home for another meal. (I shared a shrimp with our kitty and she was all over me licking her chops with thanks!) Another member of my party ordered brocolli cheese soup and it was very thick, creamy, and scrumptiously full of flavor, exactly as the servers had said. Panera has nothing on that soup!

Waitress was forgetful. When food was received, only half order presented. I had to ask another waitress the status of remaining order. Food was salty and overly greasy.

An amazing place with large portion sizes. The chicken and waffles are fantastic. And so is the biscuits and gravy

Every time I am here it is great food and friendly staff. The restaurant is quite loud but other than that no complaints.

Chicken and waffles with strawberry butter... fresh corn beef hash... shrimp and grits. This food is so good. It is worth the detour off I-95.

Very nasty Manager tells me certain Diners don't sell Chicken Parm. I asked well do YOU guys sell it because I'm calling Baymeadows location. Why ARE YOU TELLING ME ABOUT BEACH LOCALE? She then goes on a redundant rant stating" we don't sell it online, we don't sell it online" (repeat that 2 more times folks). Lady you are RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and I wouldn't trust eating there with how "snotty" you were...you may wanna put some of that"snot" in my gravy!!! I'll take my $40 lunch ELSEWHERE!!!!

Went here with my grandfather, the waiter got mouthy with him for no reason over a bowl of oatmeal, we left immediately and didn't pay. Horrible customer service and the workers are very pitiful from my perspective, however, I can't say this for every worker as I have not met them all. I will never come here again and would highly advise anyone who wants to come that coming here is taking a risk.

The place was recommended by a friend, and we weren't disappointed. We had to wait a bit, as it was Sunday morning, but the weather was great and we didn't mind waiting outside. And, the wait was definitely worth it! Staff was helpful and friendly, too!

Food yummie. Waiter was so so but the food was good

I have never had such a bad experience. Our Waiter david obviously didn't want to be at work. Only 1 ,out of our party of 6, drinks were refilled and that took about 15 or so minutes. My 2 year olds food came out after our food when we were halfway done eating. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles and the waffles were cold, you could tell they had been finished long before the chicken. His mother ordered the Monte Crisco and the sauce that comes on it wasn't and it was so greasy it filled the plate. They eventually brought the" sauce" which was really a cold jam. His sisters shared a chicken salad and the 2nd bite had a bread tie in it. The manager was nice enough to take the salad off the bill but that was it for us. We decided to get the check and leave. As a server myself, I watched as he treated his other tables with the same attitude and the manager had to talk to 2 other tables. Now I believe he had an ENTIRE room to himself and that can be frustrating but you have to just grit your teeth and get through it. There should have been better communication through expo about whether the food was presentable or not. After all has been said and done I still tipped 20% off the original bill because my manager taught me that some servers assume how people will tip so sometimes you just have to prove them wrong. But my boyfriend and his family made it clear that this was their 1st and last time they will be coming here. 2 stars only because I really liked my chicken.

I always eat there whence go to Jacksonville. The food is great and a very good staff!

Best breakfast, ton of food, especially for the price. Highly recommend

Service was excellent. I ordered Western omlet w/hash browns & jalapenos. I thought the jalapenos would be cooked into the hash browns.....no. I did not receive my salsa. Wife had meat loaf. It was under cooked, slightly red in the middle and was not warm on the inside of paddy.
My ice tea had zero ice.

Thank you to Metro Diner for an amazing breakfast in Bay Meadows, Jacksonville,we heard great reviews so decided to check it out and we enjoyed our server Melissa , she helped us order and gave us info on the specials , very friendly and fast. I ordered a Frisco sandwhich, added some cheesy grits and homefries, my husband ordered Huevos Rancheros and when it arrived it not only looked great it tasted great! Good diner food like it should be done:) The manager checked on us as well and was very attentive in the dining room. It was the type of place that tables were talking to each other and very laid back and friendly. I loved it here. Prices awesome too! Thanks Metro Diner!

Chicken & waffle and Yo Halla bread are two best thing that Metro dinner beside everything else

This has been a favorite place since we moved to Florida. The food is homemade (delicious) and the atmosphere is laidback. The service is quick and very helpful. I did witness a wrong doing and informed our server. She immediately talked to the manager. The manager came to the table where the incident occurred and handled it respectfully and graciously. A new server had made an error. She was corrected.
I will be coming back. I can't stay away from the best diner in Jacksonville. Love it.

If you have never tried Metro Diner then you need to go! Huge portions and delicious meals.

Chicken & waffles are a must to get here. And don't forget the Louisiana hot sauce and syrup mix!

They have some novel meals here, it's interesting to try something you can't get at your average restaurant. Some of them are great, some of them don't turn out so well. They stay busy and are out of my way so I don't eat here as often as I'd like.

Guest wanted Fried Chicken and she so remembered that Metro Diner made some of the best with waffles, syrup and hot sauce so off we went. This Metro is located in a strip mall unlike the original stand alone. Parking was ok but can see on a busy day with all the stores might be a challenge 4 . Seated right away at a table and was pleased to see every table had a plastic partition separating one table from another plus a bottle of hand sanitizer 5 . It was cold so I ordered the hot chocolate a nice 5 $2.19. Our guest ordered the Chicken and Waffles a real 5 for $15.79. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie...good but a few things give it a 4 at $11.99. Unlike the true Shepherds Pie we had in London 2 years ago the Mashed Potato topping was in 2 mounds and the gravy rather tasteless. Bill ordered the French Dip a real 1 looser. The filling was so dry with so little meat that we found it hard to justify the $10.99 price...please don't order. Fries with the sandwich were good but not good enough to save this 1 dish. We did order 2 cups of the Shrimp Corn Chowder that came hot but should be called Potato, Cream of Corn and some Shrimp that fell in by mistake Chowder sorry just a 3 for $3.28. Andrew our server though very busy was attentive and worked hard including helping us with our take home meal and Chocolate Cake Dessert. Overall we enjoyed and will return as you should just watch your selections.

The ladies are always SO NICE!! I have only ordered take-out here, but this is definitely a local favorite! They are SO friendly, VERY accommodating, and the food is PHENOMENAL!! You will NOT be sorry!! There IS a reason it has rave reviews!! I LOVE their famous fried chicken & waffles! YUM! My son loves their pasta...and basically ANY of their food! LOL They have AMAZING desserts too! You have GOT TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!!! A JACKSONVILLE MUST!!! AND TIP THEM WELL!! THEY WORK HARD!!

We had afternoon lunch/breakfast here and it was excellent. Our waiter ROBBIE was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Robbie was so kind, attentive and welcoming. The manager on duty Jeremy was a pleasure as well. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast.

Took my mom there she absolutely loved it. Then we found out that there is one in Charlotte NC now so she and her Red Hat ladies will be going.

I usually love metro diner but with this whole virus situation I have to order Togo which I hate doing but I gave it a shot. I get home to realize they forgot my syrup and strawberry butter for the chicken and waffles, and my salad dressing for my salad... Note to self: check your orders!!

After being a loyal customer of Metro Diner, my latest visit can be summed up with one word: disappointing. My wife was pleased with her breakfast, but my mahi sandwich was little more than a lettuce and tomato sandwich with a fish stick stuck in it. I have had this sandwich several times, and the mahi usually covers the bun. This time it was about 5 by 1 1/2 inches and was probably less than 3 ounces, covered by a mound of overcooked, frozen french fries. It was after the lunch rush; the dining room was messy with dirty dishes on almost every table. Also, some of the servers had probably been cut already - not at all like previous visits. Hopefully it will be better next time, but that will be its last chance.

Never disappointed eating here. The meatloaf is a must!

The best dinner I have had I travel from Miami to Jacksonville and that is always the place to have breakfast
