Not a bad spot for a drink, but I would avoid the food if I were you! Very convenient location, and not many pub style drinking establishments that end of the city so it's good to have as an option.
Good for the afternoon drinks after work, looking forward to going back after COVID
Very accommodating during covid. Followed guidelines and we felt safe
Very busy and crowded venue situated very conveniently in the middle of a lot of points of interest. Make a booking if you want a table. The food is moderately expensive but quite delicious.
Visited a couple of times when in Melbourne over the weekend. Traditional pub with a nice friendly atmosphere. Can get very busy in the evening when there are big sporting events on. The place was packed during the Soceroos game. Mixed crowd although tends to younger as the night goes on.
Decent beer, but please get rid of the gnats and flies.
Great pub food. Lively atmosphere. Big choice on the menu
We are waiting for our order already 1.5 hours, and they ripped off 12$, was it a mistake? I am not sure!
Be attending!
We are very hungry and angry
Some of the best traditional English foods and usually busy after work. Nice place
Reasonable food big range of drinks prices car with a city tag
Good atmosphere. Very nice group event in the upstairs area. I would recommend this venue.
What a disappointment this place was. We went in for dinner because it looked busy and popular on a Friday night. We should've known from the clientele in here (drunks and old white families) that the food caters to a basic palate. I would take the high reviews for this place with a pinch of salt.
My parma cost $23 dollars, it was tiny (maybe 1/3 of the plate if i'm being very generous), it was dry, overcooked. The topping was simply cheap ham and sauce out of a bottle and some cheese slapped on top. In hindsight, I should've forked out a few dollars more and gotten a delicious and huge parma from Mrs Parmas with an abundance of difference toppings.
My partner's southern fried chicken was equally lacklustre. Bread was a cheap brioche, it broke apart in her hands like the crappy hotdog breads you buy at supermarkets. I think the kitchen here think "Southern Fried" means oily, tough and flavourless, because they nailed it. Suffice it to say if you spent $20 anywhere else in the CBD, you'd be hardpressed to find a worse burger (and have some change!).
Great Selections of Als and Beer and much much more. Awesome staff very friendly and welcoming
This public house has been a mainstay in the CBD for a number of years. This is one of only a few establishments that has resisted the move to a Hipster hangout. The staff and patrons are friendly, and the vibe inviting, especially in the cold of winter.
This place is great for music and I don't mind having good dance, though management should put stools around the outside where the windows are, As though they appear to stopping people from sitting on the tables and staff say they are telling people every weekend WELl COME ON MANAGEMENT PUT STOOLS AROUND FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS FFIXAND GET THE FAN
Pleasant surroundings and a nice meal before heading to a show down the road.
Unfair Pub!
Started off lovely then finished off a little annoyed! As we were watching rugby league on the 1 TV out of the 7, they had changed it over. I asked the bartender if she would be kind to change it back to the league - she walked off with a slight giggle (there were others wanting to watching another sport) I understand it is hard to please everyone but it was 1 TV! We were happy to move elsewhere is another TV was free but another bartender laughed as I said it! Said come back in 5 minutes - the laugh was not nessasary & the way they handled it was poor! Everything was great and cosy up until the finishing! A bit unfair if you ask me!
Lovely pub; had the seafood pasta terrible, mussels on the turn shouldn't have been serviced, chilli ragu sauce too thick, although the Shepherd pie was good, question the cheese topping, which makes it a Cumberland pie.
Great pint of Speckled Hen and if you're there on a Thursday or Friday then there's a good chance you'll get to see the superb Matt Bradshaw - his version of Space Oddity was probably the best I've ever heard performed, DB excepted.
Pub experience... Good service, wide range of draught and bottled beers, wines and spirits. Food ok for pub. Sharron had the steamed vegetables and they were perfectly cooked. Fish and chips for me just Ok
An okay range of scotches for a cheeky mid arvo celebration.
Great place to stop for a pint. Great beer and great service.
This was a last minute decision for a Saturday lunch. The staff were very welcoming. The menu has a huge range and the prices are very reasonable. The service was great and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend either for a meal with family or friends or a few drinks after work. There is plenty of room, the pub is in the heart of the city so it's easy accessible. Just an all round good time
This pub is 20 years behind the times. $20 salads and $40 mains but still no table service? Come on.
The decor is dated and cheap, and a poor imitation of the real thing. It's the tacky Irish bar from your university days that hasn't changed and hasn't aged well.
One staff member ventured out from behind the bar but was clearly scared of her new surroundings and quickly retreated to a safer place.
I was told that they wouldn't be putting the sound on for the NBA finals because people didn't want to hear it while they were eating lunch. I am literally listening to "blaze of glory" but bon jovi as i write this. Tina Turner was the song before.
There are lots of amazing places to eat and drink in Melbourne. This isn't one of them.
Go somewhere else.

Very rude bartender , her name's Joanne. My wife and I was having a good time , but when we tried to ordered some drinks at the bar, she was very cold and didn't want to serve. Has that extreme snobby/arrogant vibe. We left straight away. Couldn't believe people like this was allowed to work here, it's a shame because it's such a cool place...
Hated the service. Do not allow to take the food you bought from them if you are full. Never coming bad here. Disgusting service and disgusting nachos
Classic English pub with good selection of beverage and okay food.
Great watering hole in Melbourne with great food , really loved the roast pork . Drop in and enjoy.
2 storeys right in the CBD and has a stage for bands
A nice pub with lots of beers on tap, on the eastern side of the city.
A little old fashioned, but not in a bad way (it tries to be English, but doesn't overdo it).
Good sized meals and quiet enough for a drink and conversation - or just to be left alone with your thoughts.
Good english pub with a very nice full English breakfast
If you like Guiness and English pub grub done well, this is the place to be. They have a huge array of different beers on tap ranging from the classic favourites such as Guiness, Kilkenny and Heineken, to my personal favourite London Pride, and to a variety of local craft brews all on tap.
The food is simple but done extremely well. I highly recommend the Southern Style Chicken burger.
The service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is traditional british pub.
good but do not its all self service and nobodu attended to us when we entered was quite lost.. Table was not clean beforehand as well
Getting tired with wobbly furniture, but food is great and service is good
Very friendly, lovely bar staff, excellent food at really good prices. Highly recommend
A nice pub in the city. Watched Australia Open here and has a great night. Kitchen close a tad early for my liking though.
Great environment - good pub food and wine - close to theatres
Great atmosphere and good food. We arrived into Melbourne Christmas Day looking for somewhere open and somewhere that served a traditional Christmas meal and pudding. I wasn't disappointed and was pretty happy to say the least. Will see you again one day.
Good food, decent serving sizes and friendly staff. Food was reasonably priced, but the tables are a little tight depending where you sit.
More recently the burgers and other dishes have been getting a bit more "dry" so may lower to 3 stars if the trend continues.
Don t waste your time. Useless place. Overpriced menu. Dirty tables. Lazy waitresses who cannot be bothered whether the customers are served or not. No wonder the place was quite empty. Won t go there ever again.
BRITISH-STYLE Pub. very good selection of draught beers. Good pub grub
Bar service very good fish and chips for dinner - not so good . Fish stodgy and floury. Chips soggy
Great food, atmosphere and drinks. You can have large functions in the upper level, and the interior is very cosy.
Blind every time I step in here, haven't once kicked me out thanks very much lol
Nice bar, slightly understaffed as staff didn't get a chance to clear tables.
Good old vibe with good food and great lunch time specials
Far too hot. I've been to saunas with less heat.
And when I asked the "DJ" to play a song for my sister's birthday, he neglected, despite the fact that we were the only 6 people on the top floor at the time..
Good outdoor seating to enjoy a cold beer while watching Melbourne go past.
