This is a nice looking pub but why do they charge $12.50 for a pint of Tetley's?. I can buy a 4 pack at Dan Murphy's for $16 and in England a pint of Tetley's is 2-3 pound. I came here before in 2014 and it was $8 for a pint. Why so expensive?, how do people afford to drink here?. Unless you are a high roller, how does the average man afford to pay for this?.

Hit and miss. My meal was acceptable, however another table members was upright disgusting. The roast meal was 85% fat, the remaining 'meat' was of unacceptable quality. The two other meals at the table suffered significantly from poor quality- a stingy amount of overcooked vegetables, much better was expected given the exorbanent prices they charged. Overall do not recommend, a plethora of far superior restaurants and cafes exist just around the corner.

Had a great time, great food, good prices, but bouncers are over aggressive. Bouncer (short guy called Alex) asked us to move inside, we actually helped him with the table. We moved a little slow for his liking so we got told to "move or f off". Completely over aggressive and really adds a bitter spin on a great night.

So go have a great time, but do not enjoy yourself too much, if you're too jolly for his liking this is what you get...perhaps just walk a little further down the street and go some place else.

I decided to take the large.
This proved a great choice.
The staff were friendly and kept the ropes fairly snug.

Why not visit a good old English Pub right in the heart of Melbourne. Set amongst something of a dining district, this pub does remind me of some places I visited in the UK. Whether you're sitting out on the street watching the wonders of Melbourne go by or inside dining on traditional pub food, this place has something for everyone. Plenty of beers on tap as well as a good wine list. Menu is extensive but the food takes a while so if you're in a hurry, be patient. I went the pie floater - fabulous and generous in size. Upstairs is interesting as well and it looks like there is a DJ and music upstairs in the evenings. Prices are reasonable. Dietaries can be catered for. Wheelchair friendly. Tram stop right out the front. Staff are fabulous, albeit often very busy. Will return.

Really enjoyed the beers here. They also have mulled cider, which was very interesting (though tasty).

Can't comment on the food, however the menu looked pretty good, with a good range of options at a reasonable price.

Great English pub in the middle of the Melbourne CBD, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick pint

Stopped in on the way to the theatre. Service was good but the food was underwhelming. We had the ribs and whilst they melted off the bones they lacked flavour. My son had the Wagyu beef burger and commented that he'd eaten way better at local burger joints. We'll probably give it another go but if it disappoints again will go elsewhere in theatre nights.

Got a steak and fat chips, with a drink $50. You dont mind paying if the food is good. The steak was actually ok, but the chips were only half cooked (nothing worse) if your going to have fat chip, maybe cook them longer...

Took quite a while to get our meals and there was a schlamozzle at the bar as the bar staff tried to figure out which table got which meal. It would have been much easier if the staff had just brought the meals to the table. Not sure that I would rush there again.

We had a couple of friends from overseas and we were looking for something simple and quick to eat at. So one of the chaps organise this meal at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow. We chose to sit outside which was more appropriate considering it was a lovely Summer's evening in Melbourne. The service was good and the meals were as good as you would find it at any pub in Melbourne. I would have to say not a large choice for meals but pretty typical of pubs. My choice of meal was a steak and chips with a side salad , the side salad was a little small in size considering but overall the meal was excellent. I would recommend a hotel for anyone passing by for an easy to get to meal.
