The Clovelly Hotel Review

The other night I was catching up with some friends for dinner. We arrived approx 6:30pm. Settled in for a few drinks then waited at the bar to order food. We queued for 20 minutes watched every other patron to get served before they finally told us that you have to order food at the bistro. This is despite seeing several people in front of us order food at the main bar. The customer service was horrible and the food was ridiculously over priced for what was essentially pub grub.

Friendly staff, good atmosphere, generally overall awesome place to chill out with mates.

It's my first time here and it will be my last for sure. Fries and burger was nearly cold and they basically kicked us out because we were sitting in a smoking area and food is not allowed there but there was no sign. Over all we felt not welcome.

Had to order food at the bar. Staff didnnot greet us. Just took or order and money. No please or thank you. Was even wearing thongs.

OMG. ORDER THE SNAPPER! Four or five people ordered it at our table and all agreed that it was amazing. Be sure to order some bread. You will definitely want to mop up the sauce.

Great bartenders and an amazing atmosphere. Despite social distancing and covid. I went for a work dinner and the guys there went above and beyond to help us have a great nigjt. 100% will be back!

Since Moran has taken over prices have gone up and food is more expensive and disappointing than ever! The upstairs area needs a complete makeover, the carpet stinks. Please make the prices more reasonable and food less "eastern suburbs blogger" appealing. Needs to be more of a good old beach side pub

Nice outside playground for the kids... Not very big, but it keeps them entertained for a little.
Food is not bad, pretty expensive...

This place is one of the best to take a family. It is child friendly and the food is awesome. There is a waiter who works every friday night who is always accomodating when we go in. We like to sit in the corner so the kids don't annoy anyone and he always makes sure we get that table if its available.

Great location but it all ends there. Have you ever thought to train your staff?

Very pleasant venue for a lunchtime 1st Birthday party for 20 adults. Beer garden is a very pleasant area. Good choice of beers on tap. Their pizzas are very nice.

This was the first time I've visited this pub and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the variety caters for everyone's taste. Staff are very organised and look after the patrons.
You can see a few celebrities every now and then, but the outdoor beer garden is the place to be. Family friendly place as well, so definitely ok to bring the kids.

We were hoping for an alternative to the Coogee Pavilion but the food was just ok & expensive for the quality (plus got the order wrong). Pity as the atmosphere & venue is great.

Crazy rowdy on weekends but a good pub...a shame they no longer sell Nachos but can't win them all.

The Sydney weather this weekend put a dampener on things. Food was good, expected slightly more taste. Had the Chicken Parmy and Fish Tacos. The slaw could be a little lighter/fresher on the dressing. We were in the sports bar for the races and the sound system leaves a little to be desired with no central audio system for the multitude of TVs. Craft beers $9, $12 Aperols all day

a stone throw away from coggee, clovelly hotel is nestled right near its serene and picturesque beach. its an ideal place to go on a sunny sunday afternoon for some beats, beers and burgers. Food is average with steaks going at about 40 dollars a plate. but the views are certainly worth it. they have some cocktails to die for including their espresso cocktails for a bit of extra zing! next time its hot go on down check it out!

A nice place to be. Their menu is simple but food well prepared and delicious. Drinks, well are drinks. There's an outside area. Though, parking could be an issue.

Oh such a shame. It was our wedding night so hoping it was going to be special because we told them. Jeromy I believe was really sarcastic. I asked if he had any food like crisps and he gives me an orange. Asked him for a knife at least and he said sorry you ll have to open with your hands . Not really kind.

After sharing my frustration with the manager the next morning she was fantastic. Really understanding and caring. Also another manager on duty who I had dealt leading up to the booking was really friendly and attentive, his name is Will. So I wanted to balance my review because even though I was frustrated with one staff others have been great.

Good place to have a beer and watch the footy, had the steak sandwich and my girl had the cloey chick. Both pretty good!

Good value for money. Definitely worth going on a nice evening and seat on the terrace.

The Clovelly Hotel, or affectionately known as the 'Cloey' is a great bar close to Clovelly bay. Reasonably priced drinks and great decor

Menu has changed but the venue hasn't. Food was good, service was fine. All in all nothing to write home about but not terrible. Just what you expect from a beach pub.

Such a great space with so much potential! Had a Friday lunch here with some friends and the food was good (wedges were the favourite) and the view from the outdoor seating is beautiful. The staff were all lovely - just wish it had a bit more of an atmosphere... could hardly even hear any music outside.

Great place for an afternoon drink.. Kinda wish the kitchen was open the whole time though

Service and staff are great, food was very quick but the schnity was very oily. In fact so oily Bush nearly invaded it!!

- lighting a bit harsh. felt very aware of other people's pores
- food tasted like leftovers, and not in the good way

It was great to bring the kids here as they enjoyed the little playground inside the di ner area. Lots of other kids made the place really fun and they kept playing while mom and dad had our cold ones !

This place has a great vibe with lots of indoor and outdoor tables. Went here with friends from work and we all enjoyed our meals. The burgers do come with chips by the way :)

Very nice place. Cheese garlic bread was delicious and the decor and atmosphere were very nice. But the food was somewhat over priced. The happy hour specials were great though.

Great atmosphere for a Sunday lunch with friends. Plenty of seating both inside and outside.

The service is soooo slow. Food average. Shame as the location should kill it but it's so badly managed.

Shocking service. The waitress behind the bar was just arrogant and rude. She had informed us when we walked in that we could order at the bar. When we asked about the menu available it was like a complete inconvenience for her and she huffed with "as I said..." which didn't actually address our question. We would never spend money again there, and are now happily sitting at The Coogee Pavilion enjoying the food by people that actually understand customer service.

Great modern style pub with a beautiful open outdoor seating area. I've been here a couple times all coincidently on a Monday where they have the $14 deal on burgers and fish and chips. The fish and chips here are amazing!

This is the $24 goat cheese salad. Less than half a tea spoon of goat cheese. Honestly?

Really like the Cloey. Nice big spacious pub with several areas, pool tables, beer garden, upstairs bar. Good range of beers. I also quite like their food. Everything I have tried on the menu has been well above pub food average

Great pub! Good happy hour specials, awesome food specials as well each night. Decent fit out with heaps of space.

$25 for an amazing steak at a great venue, friendly service and good vibe - it doesn t get much better than that.

We stopped here for lunch during the Bondi to Coogee walk. We shared a burger and some appetizers, and had a few drinks while taking a break from the Sun.
