How amazing is this place! Had an amazing day at the spa thanks to Nelly and Busi. These girls can make you feel at home. Didn't wonna live.

The museum is excellent however it was hard for us to find. Cradle of Humankind is general name of this place but to actually get to the museum you have to search for Maropeng museum.

It's one of the best place for learning about our history

Three words to describe the place: breathtaking, entertaining and educative.

World famous for lattest fosil discovery. Scenic drive with plenty attractions. Including a 400 hectar farm for training dogs for security reasons. Bombs, drugs etc. Carry on straight get to Maropeng!

There is very little to see for the price they charge

Awesome experience, staff has excellent attitude, friendly and helpfull. Maintenance and cleanliness noticeably of high standard ! Will definitely recommend. 5 star informative visit !

If you're in Johannesburg. Go. The Cradle of Humankind is amazing and the visitor centre cleverly takes you through a voyage across time. Good interactive exhibits. I can not recommend this highly enough. I've taken every friend and relative who has visited me while living in South Africa and they have a ll loved it. Again, entry is good value too for foreigners. A word on the restaurant: it is brilliant, when it's not offering it's buffet lunch. If they have the a la carte menu on offer, eat there. Closes at 4pm - which is crazy (this should be open until late in the evening and it's make money) - but is worth a visit. Don't hesitate, just go, great day out.

The place is very beautiful and you learn much on nature.

Great place to learn about our Heritage and also get to grips with a lot of misconceptions about Human Evolution

Everyone should visit this place at least once in their life. Evolution is a bowl of crap, but still interesting to see Darwins perspective

The "Cradle of humanity" is a "magical" place for the emotions it arouses.
The museum is well organized and the small attraction with a path on the water with the formation of the land is fun.
Not far from the Forum Homini restaurant, with classy food and service.

Always great to have such a lovely attraction like Maropeng
It s very informative and will show all history of magaliesburg and cradle of humankind in a nutshell
Cute little boat ride before we entered.
It s just such a pitty to see some of the things or equipment is not always working because it has been neglected or damaged by visitors .
Most Maropeng visitors visit the heksies hideaway restaurant afterwards and we are very grateful for that .

The new statues teaches a lot about the African history which was omitted on our school syllabus. If you want to learn about African history combined with learning about international icons, please do not hesitates to visit Maropeng heritage site.

4.5 - Much better than expected. Entrance is a bit confusing, they ask you to go to a tiny side entrance rather than big main door.

Informative and well designed interactive learning activities, underground water float experience. Very interesting.

Great place for the adults, bring the kids along if you want to but it is a great place for adults on their own, time is a problem here, do not arrive late, also to try and do both the visitor centre and the archeological site in one day is impossible unless you start out very early.

We visited from th UK. Great place, very educational, the kids loved the boat. The views are stunning too

Best experience but they need to put boards for direction on all the major roads leading there as there are no visible boards

My favorite part of the center is the"hand that rocks the cradle"shop. All round great experience.

The visit of the caves by far more interesting than the museum a little "cheap" Super guide, lots of anecdotes with humor. Very good time, a must.

The Cradle of Humankind is about 50 km northwest of Johannesburg. It is must for everyone to visit. It is especially good for school outings. It is one of eight South African World Heritage Sites. The guides are knowledgeable about the history.

Wonderful place to visit... Offers Human Evolution history and a lot more... Relaxing and brings you closer to nature. I enjoy the experience every time I go back there!

Displays are lacking and often out of date. Displays also seem all over the place in subject matter and seem to be going for some sort of photo-op gimmick. Would have loved more explanation of homonid ancesors in relation to their natural environment; I counted only a few mentions of interactions with other animals in their time period as well as one mention of the local climate at the time...

Interesting. How to go back to the origins, to the mother's womb.

The excitement of the history of the Cradle is let down by only really catering towards school goers and not all adults. This is most definitely a great place for the whole family or if you are visiting South Africa but otherwise is not particularly memorable despite the phenomenal surroundings and views.
