Our best heritage place in Mogale City. Out of this world, West Rand people do not even know the richness they have at this place.

This was a pleasant experience that I really enjoyed. This museum is probably more suited for children, but there is a nice restaurant on the premise as well. You can choose how much of the exhibit you want to read and how much time you want to spend. I would suggest combining this with the Sterkfontein caves

There is so much to see there and the New Long Walk To Freedom exhibit might make your spine tingle.

Always an amazing time. The rich and deep history of Africa and the origins of human evolution. Though not hosting the earliest finds, it does boast on of the largest, if not the largest quantity and variety of pre-human fossil finds.
Normally a 45 min to 1 hour walk through the Sterkfontein caves. Located about 10 minute drive from the Maropeng museum this is a great day escape from the city for the whole family

If you ever visit Johannesburg this is a place worth visiting. It is a place that teaches you about the evolution of the human species. Take a guided tour for a better experience except you are a geek yourself.

Enjoyable museum with a lot of cool interactive stands. Really enjoyed the ride too. Great for a walk.

Go to the visitor center (Maropeng) first, then the caves thereafter - great experience!

It's a great spot to have a very close encounter with the Kings and queens of animal kingdom,and it's so close to the city of Johannesburg. Unparalleled.

The cave tour is the best. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The tour required stamina, especially when walking back out which requires squatting and climbing over 200 steps. I would not recommend the museum tour because the cave guide tells you the same information. The restaurant at the visitor center offered a buffet on Sunday which was delicious and the views are amazing.

The tour guides were excellent. Very informative experience, and I I Loved it! Would definitely come back

hard to reach if you don t have your own vehicle. Uber May take you there but you will have to find your own way back. Talk to your driver to see if they can privately drive you back. It s about 40 mins to an hour from joburg.
