This is a unique spot. High quality, but also niche. Worth seeing.
The tea was so great. Cucumber, salmon, and egg salad sandwiches were served with scones and a variety of desserts. Be sure to try the jam and custard (I think that's what it was) on the scones. We chose the tea that came with champagne and their signature truffle. Both were tasty and should not be missed. I had the Palace Grey tea and my husband had the Pineapple Passion. Both were so good we bought a tin of each. Please note that the gift shop is open from 6am - 1pm. Wonderful experience and will definitely do it again.
I wanted to valet park because my 88 yr old mom was in tow. I pulled up to the valet entrance but no valet. I went around the block as I thought I had missed the entrance. I pulled up to the same entrance again and noticed way down the block, the valet was getting out of his car and ambling down the street to meet me. What? why can t he be inside the door and pop out to help us? Weird. Not for nothing, but stated price for valet parking was $15 but when I retrieved my car, the gentleman told me it was $20! Lunch at Ellington s not much better service-wise. The hostess walked us to our seats so fast that we actually lost track of her. It was obvious my mom was elderly. Slow down!!! Food was OK. Over priced. Got my order wrong. Go elsewhere for a nice lunch with your mother!
$45 for valet is ridiculous. Didn't realize until checkout the next morning. Hotel was nice though and I would stay again.
The service is excellent, the building is beautiful, and I cannot wait to go back.
Was there for a wedding reception. The food was delicious, the service was great and the hotel was beautiful with a really great history.
We went for my mother's birthday to their tea. Every detail was amazingly executed, and the space is unlike anything I'd seen. Just beneath the tower, the ceiling far above us, everything fit in the dark gold aesthetic.
Food was standard tea fare, nothing mind boggling or exciting, but everything done very well. Sandwiches, scones, and pastries. Waitstaff was friendly, helpful, patient, and unintrusive.
Awesome stay. John Kite the piano player is always a treat. The room was nice and great view. Cigars in Churchill's is fantastic! Room Service was prompt and the breakfast was excellent. Great romantic getaway spot!!
Wonderful place, great restaurants and location to everything in town.
This was a fun place to hang out. Very interesting to say the least
Over the course of two days I made more than half a dozen calls trying to reach the spa to inquire about paying for treatments for my wife and stepmother. When I finally did reach someone she took my info, but it sounded iffy. Sure enough, they didn t charge me my wife was billed and my birthday surprise was ruined. I called to complain but never got through to the spa again. I left a message for the GM no response. I called the front desk, and they did nothing other than put me through to VM and tell me, That s the spa; you need to speak to them. Really good ownership. Marriott has some remediation work to do in Denver. (And I am a Marriott lifetime platinum member who likely will stay elsewhere next I m in town.)
Beautiful hotel and Denver landmak! I can't say enough about this hotel. The Ritz and Four Seasons are newer, and do compare, but if you want a taste of nostalgia, luxury, and great service, the Brown Palace is the place to go.
Its haunted and beautiful and fun to play hide and seek in.... Great hotel in denver also the oldest one still standing
It has a classy unique feel. The tea time is really something to see!
Large rooms in historic hotel. Awesome bar downstairs that allows smoking still! Nice staff and great service at the bar.
Hotel floor manager was degrading. We had documented 4pm check out insisted it was 2pm. Showed front desk manager documentation of 4pm. I'm a gold Marriott holder soon to be platinum. However, I do not plan on staying there again. More respect from the bellman Dave. Thank you Dave!
Visited the hotel from out of town for a wedding reception. Both the ballroom and the staff were very nice.
Wow.. what a cool place and some great history around the hotel. Fantastic staff.
Great decorations and a beautiful hall. Unfortunately the crab cakes were a bit dry.
Our family s recent wedding reception at The Brown Palace Hotel could not have been more enjoyable! From the moment that Concierge Sharon Domenick and our catering sales manager Kristopher Pershing welcomed us at the front door, our experience at Denver s classiest and most historic hotel was Five Star perfect in every respect. Delicious food and service provided by a gracious and attentive staff exceeded even our highest expectations.
Always my favorite hotel in downtown Denver. Best hotel staff by many levels. Thank you, will stay again in future for sure!
Its a beautiful place...its very excited to know a lot of famous people was there...
The Brown Palace is a Denver institution!
Wonderfully preserved, elegant, warm and inviting.
The hotel is old, there will be some HVAC noise but no noise from outside the room and the decor/fixtures are are new but period, do not expect a modern look.
Things to research:
It s a popular place, make reservations for everything, not just your room. If you get a package deal, ensure you ve all reservations too.
Parking costs are high - better to be dropped off.
There are no pool/workout facilities on-site but plenty of steps to be had downtown.
Make sure your room has good WiFi for kids/entertainment/working - WiFi signals are hard in older/well built buildings
Most menus are more traditional, call-ahead if you re vegan or low-sodium but veg, GF, etc.should all be ok.
ADA guests should call-ahead and be specific about needs, to optimize the experience of this historic hotel.
Things to enjoy:
Great location with plenty to do
Great service, drinks, and food
There s a 7-Eleven nearby for room sundries
It s an excellent trip back in time
Splurge for an upgraded room won t be a waste
Super lovely hotel and incredible staff specially Stephanie at the front desk and the spa worker's here and also Mr. Tucker. Very retro rooms and awesome historical hotel. Score points for Marriott being the owner!!
Beautiful! Live music in the center. Excellent deserts.
Always my favorite! They're a huge USS COLORADO supporter!
I come here occasionally to visit the Churchill cigar lounge. This time I took a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of this historical hotel. I've never actually stayed here but I've been to the lounge s few times and I've had afternoon tea with my wife here. Even without staying I can tell you this is a great hotel. Every time I walk in I feel like a VIP. The staff is usually super nice and helpful like you would expect from a premiere hotel. The decor is elegant without being gaudy. You get the feel of being in a pricey place without feeling over your head or out of your range. That being said, you will pay top dollar but you can still afford to pay your mortgage when your done.
I think I'll take my wife here for a romantic night sometime soon. When I do I will add to this review.
Liked the service and the food was great. Give it a 8 .
Great place to take friends and enjoy the goodies during high tea! Be sure to make a reservation!
The lobby of the Brown Palace is incredible. Wonderful furniture and the roof is amazing. The decor in the restaurants and rooms leaves much to be desired. Restaurants seem very outdated and the ships tavern doesn't seem to fit for the location. The hotel rooms are a typical Marriot room. Not sure if would classify anything other than the lobby as an Autograph Collection Hotel!
Great piece of Denver history. I was told that Denver is the Capitol of Colorado in part due to Henry Brown donating land for the capitol building.
Anyway it's pricey but grand. It never hurts to ask for an upgrade. We got one.
Historically charming with a large Christmas tree in the main hall.great place to see.
Perfectly located near our terrific pedestrian mall
I booked a room for my wife for her birthday and they ended up upgrading her to a suite for no extra charge. She loved it.
Afternoon tea at the Brown Palace is always an experience. A must do in Denver.
Best holiday place to go in Denver during the holidays! John Kite Trio playing wonderful Christmas music in the lobby, the lights, the festivity, all the families dressed up. Great food and drinks and atmosphere! Really takes you back in time, kind of like a Norman Rockwell Christmas!!!
The parking was a little difficult if you did not want to do valet. You have to park across the street in another building. Lugging our bags wasn't all that great, however, everything about the place. The room was spacious and clean. The valet and concierge were very nice and helpful. The interior is beautiful and quiet. I honestly cannot wait to go back and enjoy the room. Not to mention, everything is so close and convenient. Walked to our restaurant and walked back only to stumble upon 3 other places.
The afternoon tea is well worth it! If you can take the tour, the history of the Hotel is interesting.
To say disappointed is not even the word that describes how I feel. I got a room for 2 nights Friday and Saturday for my parents for their 50th anniversary. They did allow me to go in before they got there to decorate it for them which was nice except for the cracked sink in the bathroom. I get there and they explained that they would charge me $300 for a deposit which I understood. No biggie. Saturday morning I just happened to look at my bank account and there were 3 charges. 1 for $733, 1 for $300 and another for $433 totaling to $1466. I call them and they really could t tell me what had happened that they are only showing that 272.50 was being charged to my account but that they would get this corrected. Well I looked at my account again and there was another charge for $566.12 now the $1466 still had not been put back into my account, so we are not looking at $2032.12 taken out of my account for a 2 night stay and 2 breakfasts. When I had talked to my parents they had stated that they did not charge anything else to the room. Just their Valet and their breakfast which was approved. My wife then calls them and was on the phone with them for about 1/2 hour trying to figure this out. The guy could not figure it out at all but was going to get this fixed. My wife then asked if there was going to be any compensation because of all this and he said all he could do was to try and get our money back.
For a hotel that is suppose to be high end, I was expecting better than this! Over $2000 for a room for 2 nights is just crazy! I will never be dealing with them again because of all this. We should have only been charged the $566.12 for the 2 nights 2 breakfasts and 2 days of valet! NOT $2032.12
Ship tavern is a great spot for a drink. Nice staff.
Excellent upscale hotel. Drinks at the bar are stupid pricy though ($40 for a two once pour from a bottle of Scotch that you can buy for $50). But everything else was very nice. Within walking distance of the mall and more reasonably priced Scotch.
Cannot say enough kind things about the staff (from the doormen to the consiercge to the cleaning crew), they are all wonderful and so attentive. The hotel is beautiful of course, but our stay was made extra special because they housed us in a nicer room than usual because it was our anniversary. I always feel like I am being taken back in time whenever I step inside the lobby. The rooms are elegant but not overly done. There is high tea everyday, reservations highly recommend. I would suggest bringing earplugs if you're a light sleeper like me. Different rooms face different streets, some higher traffic than others and the windows are pretty thin. This place is great for a romantic getaway!
Food was delicious! Atmosphere was wonderful. A little run down in some areas of the hotel, but overall a great experience.
Came here for the christmas day brunch and loved it. The food couldn't get any better and a large selection. Seeing the decor of the hotel is worth the price in itself
Staff are excellent. Room was nice. Hotel has a wonderful history.
I tried to arrange an appointment at the spa. You have to leave a message and wait. I finally got a call back and missed it and left another message. I never got a call back.
A fabulous, beautiful hotel with gracious service. Also, off season the rates were very affordable. It is centrally located in walking distance to many museums, restaurants, shops, the Denver Mint. Even if you don't stay there, check out the amazing lobby.
Very nice! Came to the cigar bar for dinner- the filet mignon was the best I've had in a long time! Cooked perfectly!
Helpful check in, lots of historic charm, nicely renovated. A drinking fountain in the lobby connected to a 500 ft deep artesian well dating to 1892.
Historical hotel in downtown area. Very well kept. Ate at the Shipwreck Lounge. Excellent service and excellent food.
A must visit when in Denver. Very historical building. Good food and great bar.
Great selection of brown liquor. One of the few bars with a "big rock". This pic is of the peach street straight bourbon. A great find.
Beautiful hotel. The afternoon tea was delightful, the room was lovely. I especially loved the shower. Wonderful staff.
Loved the tea time! Great service, food, tea selection and atmosphere.
You must ask for Elias Aguire in the kitchen. He's a lighthearted elderly gentleman comedian. Guests of all ages can tug on his nose for his trademark laughter and jokes. The jewel of the house to say the least!.
The cigar lounge is outstanding and well ventilated.
Lots of charm here, the cigar bar and main lobby are old school and reminds you of a time thats long gone. GET BRUNCH on Sunday, it's well worth it.
Beautiful place. One of the oldest and original buildings from the birth of Denver. So much history at this hotel
