The Brown Palace is supposed to be a unique and top rate hotel, spa and dining experience; however, it was not for me and my wife celebrating our anniversary there. Check-in was at 3. We were there at 3:30 and still had to wait an hour before our room was ready. The Spa was average. Our rooms air conditioning wasn't working so I called the front desk. They quickly stated they would have maintenance come to us...they never showed. Out package included in room breakfast. We just had to fill out our order and hang it on the door outside the room. Our time we request to be served came and went. When I looked outside on the door to see if they took our order...they did not, so we missed breakfast. I did explain all of this to the person at checkout and she was extremely apologetic and comp'd me as much as she could, but as most people, we would have rather paid the full prince but get what we paid for...we left the Brown Palace very dissatisfied and disappointed.
May not be the most updated or best value, but the building has a ton of history and the staff are awesome. There's a really cool bar downstairs and an amazing Mexican restaurant across the street. The beds are comfortable and rooms are quiet.
Visited the Brown Palace Hotel for lunch. Sad in the foyer / dining room area for high tea. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was worth every penny. Had three different kinds of tea as well as British Style afternoon lunch sandwiches. Hotel surroundings or elegant and included live piano music. Hotel was clean with well-dressed staff
Staff are great but the furnishings are a little dated.
Went and had some drinks with friends and it was pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either.
Had a working lunch with GTRI reps to talk about Splunk. Great conversations and great food.
The Brown Palace is a strange island of solace in the heart of Downtown. Almost everything is a short walk or quick cab ride to get to, and when you're in the room, the outside world is gone away. Sunday Brunch in Ellyngton's is something to experience, and there is always a quiet, living energy in the place. Definitely something one should experience if they need a moment away from the world.
Ask for the big suite in the corner. It was an apartment during the depression. Not the current one, but the one in the 1930s
Really fancy but since it's old it isn't off-putting. Service was hit and miss. Not against staying there again but would likely try one of the many other nice hotels in the area.
The Brown Palace is a great place to have a mini staycation or a mini getaway vacation. We really enjoyed the tea time, as well as our room. Everything was well done by the staff. We order room service one of the nights and it was great food in bed. Would highly recommend The Brown Palace to others.
It was so neat to eat in a nautical themed restaurant inside of such an elegant hotel in a very landlocked state. The food and service were both very good.
Excellent Service and Friendly Staff.... Fantastic Food..A MUST
High tea at the Brown Palace is an experience that should be on everyone's Bucket List. Would love to see more men embrace the custom.
I cant rate 5 for the lack of vegetarian entrees at this time and age.
Loved this hotel! Fun bar, wonderful breakfast. Really nice staff. Right in the heart of Denver.
Beds were very uncomfortable, pillows were like rocks. Small rooms but its a very old hotel. Rooms were clean.
Incredibly friendly staff: there was a lady at the desk who literally had to come upstairs and help me zip my dress up. Super fun to see high tea happening in the afternoon there.
I love high tea and this place is good. The tea was really good and the good was light and tasty. The sweets had the right amount of sweetness and didn't weigh you down. The sandwiches were good too. I'm normally not a scone type of person because I think they are usually too dry but these here were really good. Especially when you add the clotted cream and strawberry preserves. I recommend this place. If I'm back in town I'd come back.
Charming historic hotel. Best for special occasions.
The tavern was great! Food and service was impeccable. I highly recommend this place!
Beautiful hotel, nice atmosphere, piano playing in the lobby
I wanna work there so badly. I will change my looks and personality to
. A point to be working there
The lounge is a great place to have a drink and enjoy the company of friends.
Everything about this hotel lives up to its expectations. The staff is all wonderful and nice, the room we stayed in was as luxurious as they come and we even got breakfast delivered to our room! This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay! I will for sure be back!!
Beautiful hotel. Rooms are very unique, not updated and modern like your usual Marriott. Would definitely recommend if your set on staying here to go around the holidays, the decor is gorgeous. The Ships Tavern was disappointing. My husband and I ordered the chicken sandwich to share, I cut into it and it was raw in the middle. The woman working at the service desk was sassy towards my husband and I when we asked about the shuttle car and basically ignored us when an older gentleman walked up to ask a question. We definitely felt as though she was not taking us seriously because we are a young couple.
I greatly enjoyed my trip here. I attended an event and it was truly wonderful. Both the event and the service.
Used the Tabor meeting room for worked related training. They provided lunch from The Brown Palace kitchen. The hotel is beautiful and the food was amazing.
Great tea service so many delicious desserts and scones to die for. We recommend dressing up a bit for this.
We ate at the Palace Arms for my best friend's birthday and everything was absolutely delicious!!! The service was wonderful, they were attentive and it truly was an experience we won't ever forget.
Nice, comfortable hotel with great service. Room needed updating with more light and electric outlets.
After staying at the Brown numerous times, this time was very different. Upon checking in, we had to wait for at least 10 minutes because there was only one person with a line of 4 or 5 people waiting to get there rooms as well. Finally, someone else came to help. She was rude, curt, and condescending to me. I asked if they had a larger room than the one I had originally booked, (I planned to pay for the upgrade) she told me the hotel is sold out???? I went online later, and there were plenty of rooms available. She then swiped my credit card and told me, "do you have another card that one is declined". I told her that is impossible and to run it again, which worked just fine. She asked how many keys, I replied 2, she made 2 keys, put them in the packet, handed it to me and ask for the next person. I had no idea what room I had, I never received a welcome, thank you, enjoy your stay. I can get better customer service at a motel on Colfax. Very, very disappointed, and not worth staying there again for those prices and lack of customer service, GOOD BYE Brown Palace.
Another world, just beautiful and decorated with lovely furniture of yesteryear. We ordered a tray of tasty desserts and small sandwiches. Everything was delicious. The staff was attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend it if you want to feel spoiled.
We stopped to get drinks at the Ship Tavern. You can definitely find a better place for drinking cheaper beer (~$16 for two beers) but the hotel is beautiful to look at and the Tavern has a neat ambiance. Live piano guy was very fun.
The Brown Palace is our favorite Colorado hotel...is has charm, character and history. Here's a tip - ask the concierge or someone at the front desk to tell you about it's history! They'll gladly do so and it's pretty amazing! Enjoy!
and smelled like dog food - ha ha - just kidding - see Lee Child Jack Reacher novels.....
Absolutely loved staying here! The tea time entertainment was top notch! I loved the decor atmosphere! I'm still smiling!
A good hotel with great historic heritage. This was the tallest building in the town at one point. Good restaurants and helpful staff
Impressive interior and friendly staff. There isn't much to the rooms, which keep a classical 1800s feel too them, but much of the value is the hotel's location relative to the city center.
Great place! Came to get some shots and the staff was very welcoming and friendly! Definitely planning on staying at this beautiful hotel!
Favorite. Best. Extraordinary Service. This is my favorite hotel that I have ever stayed at. The architecture is incredible and the service is even more wonderful. Rooms are so beautiful and comfortable - clean and pristine. I can t wait to come back! Truly an extraordinary experience!
I love this place...afternoon tea is spectacular. And what I love the most is Churchill's Cigar Lounge which is indoors...one of the very few places to enjoy a cigar (out of the weather) in downtown Denver.
I work across the street from the Brown Palace. I enjoy an occasional drink. The staff is courteous and professional and the entire place has an unbeatable ambiance.
This is one of our favorite hotels, anywhere. From the moment you walk into the lobby you're in a time warp.........gorgeous, in an old fashioned western way. The rooms we choose are on the 8th floor and are suites. Large and comfortable. Staff is terrific. Nope, not a Four Seasons so they have made up a small gym (very nicely done but small) and there are other things "missing" ............. little things ............but it's the only place we ever stay when in Denver.
My boyfriend and I had booked a room in this hotel in early June. We had no problem to make such reservation, and they even sent us a reminder email about the upcoming stay a few days before. When we got there, the hotel was closed and we could not even get a hold of them to come up with a solution. No response at all from them. We had to spend hours going around Denver trying to find a new place to spend the night. VERY disappointed with this place, terrible management and customer service, not to mention the lack of responsibility for having rooms available for reservation while being closed!
Amazing, historic hotel to stay in in Denver. Rooms are stunning and are a great mix of old and modern. High tea is phenomenal and fun for any occasion. Ships Tavern is an excellent spot for lunch or drinks after work and Churchill s if you want a quiet spot to have a drink or end your night on the town. Bonus if you like cigars. The Brown Palace has it all, with an elegant flair.
Friendly, prompt and efficient staff which added nice "welcome" touches to make my stay very enjoyable. All that was BEFORE I got to my room which I found to be incredible! If you want to impress someone, request one of the suites. Bravo The Brown Palace, you've set the bar high for this frequent traveler.
Tea was impeccable as always! And pre-drinks at Ships Tavern was great! Specifically our server Don! He was a pure delight! Not sure I've ever laughed so hard! We will definitely be back!!
GO HERE - for High Tea!! Their high tea experience is the best of the best. The waiters are attentive and knowledgeable, the tea is wonderful, and of course the food is amazing. We always end up asking for refills on the food because it is so good. The hotel itself is beautiful and historic, and is fun to walk around after tea. It is a really great experience -- my sister and I go whenever I'm in town, and it is always one of the highlights of my trip!
The rooms are typical for an older hotel , small but nice. The spa was lovely
Excellent service ...average room...excellent room service
We have been to tea here a number of times. It is always an enjoyable experience.
Beautiful. Expensive. Great shops and restaurants. Afternoon tea is perfect. Sunday brunch is a lot of fun: good music, engaging people, wonderful selection - sea to land, valley to mountain, and then the clouds with dessert!
Food was cold, way over priced, service left much to be desired.
I love historical landmarks! Pricey, but worth it for the ambiance.
Dined at Ship's Tavern and had probably the best steak and cheese sandwich I have ever had in my life. Who could go wrong with a steak and cheese made using prime rib? Incredibly rich beef in a toasted and slightly buttered bun. The cheese was melted perfectly and surrounded perfect sized mushroom slices. The onion rings were large with lots of breading but nothing out of this world. The sweet potato fries were almost perfectly cut and cooked. The kitchen was having an awesome night this particular night apparently. My only complaint is that for a "tavern" they don't have many beers on a tap, I counted only 5. They do have plenty of bottled beer choices and even half dozen cans from local Colorado breweries, but I expect at least a dozen draft beers at a tavern. The decor definately matched the name though, as I literally felt like I had been transported to an actual mid 16th century ship, with many props and tasteful period pieces adorning the walls and shelves. Ship's Tavern is definitely worth a look if you are in the Denver area.
My husband and I have stayed at The Brown Palace multiple times. We have never had a bad experience. We have gone up there for romantic getaways to partying in downtown Denver, and we have stayed there during the holidays to the middle of the week.
The Mercedes service and the spa services are the best as well. The staff is always friendly and polite. We have tried staying elsewhere in Denver and keep coming back to The Brown Palace.
I recommend this hotel for anyone and everyone. (It is kid friendly as well!!!)
Elegant bars and dining with an authentic bygone times feel
Was really excited to book an afternoon tea for my mother. Unfortunately, the female staff member who answered my call was quite rude and unwelcoming. No longer going to move forward with scheduling an appointment.
We went for afternoon tea and had a lovely time. The service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and as always the Brown Palace is a beautiful building to dine in. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
