The history and common spaces are BEAUTIFUL. The tea service and Jazz offering are such a wonderful addition to the ambiance. Portions were decent size and all the food servers and hosts were amazing.
Our room left a little to he desired. The whole thing was very dark and had fluorescent bulbs in the lamps. We specifically booked a suite so I could have a soaking tub. We didnt find out till later we paid for a nicer room than what they gave us. Apparently they just "forgot" tell us after my boyfriend asked about it. They said it was because the floor that had our room was closed for renovations. They gave us a discount on the next night we stayed as an accommodation for this folly. The rooms tub was also broken. It was permanently set to shower, and wasnt able to fill up the tub through the spout. When trying to do the the lever it actually came out of the wall! The paint was cracked in multiple places, which is understandable for a hotel with such history. But it wasnt that clean in general either. Very dusty lamps and shades and nightstands. They was ink pen markings on the sides of the drapes, there was what looked like pubic hairs on the base board. Would I stay again, yes. The ambiance was worth it. I am just hoping the cleaning standards get a little better next time we stay.
If I could give this zero stars I would. Went with a group of 13 women for afternoon tea on 06/14/17. Service was terrible, the location of our table was terrible. We were told that because we were a large group we could choose only 3 tea choices for the whole table. That is ridiculous considering we were paying $51.20 per person (including tip and tax, 20% tip was automatically added to the bill). They just put things on the table with little explanation as to what they were and certainly not a smile to be seen on any of the 2 servers assigned to our table. It also seemed like very little portions for the amount of people at the table. I had mentioned that I thought it may not be enough and the waitress rudely told me it was portioned out per person and it would be enough. After about 15 minutes they brought more sandwiches out so I guess they must have realised eventually. Then we sat there for ages before anyone checked on us or refilled our teas. One of our party had to get up and refill our teas because no server was there to do it. Had these been smaller easier to handle pots of tea we could just pass them along the table but they were 3 giant metal pots that were not easy to handle. A server finally came to the table and I had asked him in a nice way if he could help us with refilling the teas and he rudely said "that's what I'm doing" in a very curt tone. At the time I asked him he did not have a teapot in his hand and was about to walk past our table so it certainly wasn't evident that he was planning to refill teas. I said to him that I didn't realise that he was doing that and that I didn't understand why he was being so mean. He ignored me. He never returned to our table after that. The female server was fine but cold and disingenuous. The only good and kind and genuine part of our experience was the lovely piano player who checked in on us a couple times and asked if we had any requests. This afternoon tea was COMPLETELY NOT WORTH IT and I highly recommend NOT COMING HERE for afternoon tea. OVERPRICED and TERRIBLE SERVICE. Not long ago we had afternoon tea (15 people) at the Omni Hotel in Pittsburgh which was far superior. Beautiful room with our table located in a nice area, NOT a walkway, attentive and warm service and we could each order our own personal choice of tea for a total of $15 less per person than at The Brown Palace. We will NEVER RETURN to this hotel.
Beautiful hotel. I went with my wife for their famous Tea Time event. Food and tea was delicious, accompanied by the gorgeous lobby with couches. We had a great time.
Elegant Christmas decor, wide variety of restaurants.
Very nice, swanky place and they didn't even say anything about my sweatpants. Expensive cocktails, but that is to be expected. Will get tea here some day.
Brunch buffet Saturday --one of the best i have ever had.
John the pianists was fantastic and the staff was very accommodating.
Great Hotel. Fantastic hospitality and a compelling history.
Beautiful, historic hotel with a great afternoon tea service.
Beautiful building that makes for a great atmosphere. Staff was friendly and knowledgable. This is a nice treat when you want a special day.
This hotel does not have guests needs in mind. Everything is always broken and for a four diamond hotel it is borderline pathetic. There is a mess of health code violations and public safety concerns. If the state were to go through it they would probably be shut down. The staff is shady and security is a whole other story. They do not do things by the book and currently are working guards illegally by hiring them at the hotel without a license and telling them to keep it quiet until they can get you into training to get one. Multiple guards work there and have worked there and do not even have the state required license. I will be telling my friends, family, and everyone I know to stay away from this facility. It is a company filled with lies, deceit, and immorality. If they hire people and outside companies like this it really shows what the moral standpoint of the hotel is, what they are willing to allow, and they do not deserve the rating they have. Just know there is a lot of shady stuff going on behind the scenes here and illegally hired, ill mannered employees seems to be a regular thing. This hotel is not in any way worth your money or your time. If you like being lied to then this is the place for you.
Beautiful hotel staffed with caring and nice employees. Painless valet service.
To see the beauty of this building and that it is being preserved so well. A mark of excellent management and care for my grands to visit and enjoy.
Rooms here are really small for what you pay. They definitely do a good job of making them look bigger in their photos online.
This amazing Victorian hotel is located at the heart of Denver business distinct. The facilities are well maintained the staff is lovely. I feel sorry only that I only got to spend there one night.
Great experience!! Very friendly staff, and great food and tea!!
Great venue during Parade week. Crazy busy, but staff was very accommodating.
We went to afternoon tea in early January at The Brown Palace and had a really lovely time. All of the food was really delicious and the atmosphere was quite special. We were even brought an extra tray of sandwiches, which was great. The only thing that was a little odd to me was that we didn't seem to have a designated waiter - we had different people helping us throughout, all of whom were good but I found it kind of unusual. Overall, great experience, if not an expensive one!
I was disappointed in the Brown Palace's Breakfast with Santa today. My family has attended for almost 20 years. Today the beverage service was very slow. Our waiter said that "they" sat all of his tables at the same time. Also, the tables were sloppily "dressed." Our tablecloth was wrinkled down the middle, had a tear in it and didn't completely fit the table. Not up to the usual Brown Palace standards.
Been going here for years and will continue to go for years to come. You don't have to go broke to spoil yourself.
Quiet elegance, class and quality. The staff is outstanding in every way. Concierge Sharon and Rob are the best.
Service at the tavern was middling. Easier had very few tables and still forgot our orders. Place smelled funny too. Food was okay but not worth the cost.
This is beautiful historic hotel which is always fun to visit!
Lovely experience for a special afternoon tea. Great service.
I went for brunch. I would recommend their Sunday brunch
Amazing stay. The staff was really polite and accommodating, the room was cozy with wonderful view, very close to all the bars and restaurants in 16th street!
HIGHLY disappointed in the Palace Arms. Total rip-off!
It is a pre-fix menu and every time I asked the server how that course was prepared, he didn't know. He said he would ask and would then get side tracked showing the other server things on his phone in the server station which was right next to our table.
There were only four tables in the entire and the manager walked through twice and didn't even bother to stop and thank the guests for being there. At an average of $125 per person, a simple thank you would have gone a long way.
Afternoon tea was elegantly done. Great foods and teas!
Thank you so much for the use of the beautiful ladies room.
A historic hotel in downtown Denver. Enjoyed reading the plaques and looking at the historical items on display.
Fantastic experience. The staph are friendly and helpful, and the service was very high quality. Inside the building is beautiful.
The only thing to not like about this place is when I had to leave. While be back
Beautiful hotel. Excellent service. Room I was in could use a little attention to light wear and tear on the decor, hence 4 stars instead of 5.
A wonderful hotel with so much character and atmosphere. Learning the history of the Brown Hotel was a lot of fun. The rooms were clean with nice bathrooms. The staff were very friendly and responded quickly if we needed anything.
The lobby is gorgeous and they have nightly music to listen to at night. Location is great also, right off 16th St Mall.
Beautiful room, beautiful hotel. Ship Tavern is excellent - prime rib sandwich is top notch, and a bargain at $21.
Being bored with your standard brunch scene in denver my friends and I decided to attend the champagne brunch her on Sunday. The selection of food for the buffet was great! Everything was very fresh and their were many options for everyone one In our party. Our waitperson was attentive and very friendly. Although the brunch is pricy for some it is very much worth the experience. Don't forget to make a reservation.
We stayed at The Brown Palace for our anniversary because we were married there 17 years ago and it rarely falls on a Saturday. On the plus side flat screens and padded headboards have made for better use of space in their traditional ridiculously small rooms. The downside is everything else just seems older and dirtier, but most disappointing was the service. Proms, weddings and corporate events were going so the place was busy but the staff seemed to be finding hiding places and annoyed to answer questions or handle simple request. I stopped into the house bar for a nightcap and got chastised by the bartender when I pointed out he never brought our drinks. The Brown Palace is full of Denver history but that s probably where it belongs. Sad to say but there s several newer hotels in downtown that I d rather stay or hold an event for the same price including the Four Seasons and Ritz.
The amenities were inferior, average hotel quality. The carpet in the room, dilapidated. The bed, terrible! Below average hotel quality bed. The TV and alarm clock were antiquated. The shower was bad, poor water pressure. Didn't make me feel clean.
But; the hotel lobby is beautiful. The staff were nice.
Very disappointed, this is second rate lodging at premium prices.
High tea in the afternoon sitting in such a beautiful historic building is a must. Everything from the food to the service was impeccable.
I attended the lobby bar and then The Ship's Tavern with about 15 friends for my 30th Birthday celebration and we all had a blast! Our food and drinks were amazing, and the service was wonderful. The highlight of the evening was singing with John, the amazingly gifted piano player. We will be back again soon!
Ellyngton's brunch is always fabulous. The gorgeous holiday decorations make the whole hotel sparkle.
I knew booking a suite during a pandemic would come with setbacks such as no room service, and no Keurig in the room. Not even any water bottles. Ok. What I didn t know was that the valet would be our warmest welcome. After basically stalking the reservation desk for a week with multiple calls we were finally able to book The Beatles Suite. At check in we were met with a very cold, rushed check in (no one behind us waiting at all). It was as if she was unwillingly doing me a favor to check us in. She slipped us a paper on COVID restrictions, skipped informing us about elevator location or WiFi and quite frankly, made us feel completely unwelcome. Knowing of the COVID-19 restrictions we brought our own charcuterie and wine. We forgot plates and silverware. With the restaurants being opened on the first floor this didn t seem like a big deal, and requested these items. We were told they could only bring paper plates. No problem. About 2.5 hours after our request, and 4 phone calls later we did receive the requested items. The suite itself was disappointing. The experience of The Beatles Suite was to listen to The Beatles music from the all Beatles jukebox in the room. Apparently it s for display only these days. Had this been public information we would have spent our $1000 at The Ritz. From jelly on The Beatles coffee table books to dirty tissues around the trash can in our sanitized room we were not impressed. Oh, and the WiFi is an additional charge ($14.95) even if you are shelling out the cash to stay in a suite. The jukebox had trash stuck to it....the robe loops were broken and smelled of perfume. We actually tried to leave after the first hour but found we would be charged full price. We opted for The Beatles Suite for a special experience, and because we are avid Beatles fans. Unfortunately, the experience was not the one we had in mind. The charm ended the moment we stepped away from the valet. If you re springing for a suite, do it at The Ritz or Four Seasons. As a Colorado native, I can t tell you how disappointing my first stay was at The Brown Palace.
Perfect except the maid, I think, didn't put the charger I left behind into lost and found. So it goes. Nice place.
One of my favorite hang outs.cool historical place to chill.
My wife and I had high tea here in celebration of our anniversary. As someone who lived in England for seven and half years and has visited tea shops good enough for the British royalty to visit when they're in town, I know what a great high tea is like. The Brown Palace gets remarkably close, with the exception of two things: The first cup of tea was colder than it should have been. It was fine after one of the servers came over and topped up the hot water, though. The second thing is that the scones were slightly over done, making the bottoms crunchier than they should have been. And, darn it, a scone is supposed to be ROUND, not triangular! I can't recall ever seeing a triangular scone in all my years in England. But that's just a pet peeve. :-) I'd certainly recommend the Brown Palace to anyone looking for a good high tea.
Lovely looking hotel, good food, free parking around sucks, if you like high tea, it's a really nice spot!
We spent our Anniversary there the last 2 weekends ago and it was nice but when we checked out our valet parking which you don't have much of a choice unless you want to carry your bags down a block or two in the snow but it was $49.00 to park and I honestly like all other high end hotels will tell you either when you are making your reservation and/or the valet attendant should mention this. Absolutely ridiculous and we also told our server it was our anniversary and our reservationist and not even a " Happy Anniversary" like other hotel/spa resorts do! Lots of money you will spend and didn't really care for the staff or service.
Fancy, expense, but fancy, like that you can smoke in the bar
This place has been on my bucket list for over 20 years and I finally made reservations to stay. Right in the heart of Denver.....great location.... I love the looks of the building; I have never been inside until yesterday. The young man by the name of Jay checked us in to the hotel. Amazing customer service we even got a complementary upgrade.
We toured about the hotel after we checked in. I read the story of the Miral of the angels on the ceiling that was damaged years ago and then covered up and then in 1981 it was uncovered and refurbished. Jay got us access to the Onyx room to be able to view this mural which was exceptionally sweet and generous on his part.
You ll notice the flag in the atrium area was donated to the hotel by President Theodore Roosevelt. I found it to be very interesting.....And amazing breakfast downstairs this morning and it came out hot and fast.
Our rooms were beautiful and clean and classy looking. The hotel is phenomenal. And the staff is exceptional. What an amazing first time experience for me. I will definitely be back....so happy...
Loved the palace!Friendly staff and we had a great time
Went and had afternoon tea, the food was amazing, I loved the tea I had and the wide variety of options there were, and the atmosphere is perfect for something like that. As someone who s tried afternoon tea in the UK, this wasn t too far off from how it s done there. Hopefully I can stay at the hotel at some point, but we enjoyed the afternoon here.
The room was amazing and the location is nice especially if you enjoy downtown life.
Absolutely delightful! Spectacular historical hotel in constant operation for 149 yrs.
A great place to visit with amazing decor and atmosphere
The protien was great, but the veggies we're undercooked for myself and my dinner friends. I would still go back though, as it had a great atmosphere and good staff.
Cool atmosphere and really nice hotel but there was a dead roach on the floor
It was a nice, "old timey" atmosphere. Live jazz in the lobby. Friendly concierge. Friendly staff.
Great atmosphere. Good quality food & drinks. Fun neighborhood to explore.
Beautiful historic building, nice newly remolded rooms, good food.
What a beautiful afternoon we had enjoying high tea at the Brown Palace for the holidays! The beautiful hotel, so rich with Denver history, provides such an elegant and interesting backdrop to this special experience. The service is attentive and friendly. I always feel so we'll cared for by Isaac, Hiwat, Jessica, and all the servers. This is a special Christmas tradition that my children and I look forward to all year. I know the magic of it all is creating treasured memories. What was really touching this year was how attentively the servers and chef cared for my allergies. Over the past year, I have discovered extensive allergies that usually make it very difficult to dine in restaurants. I expected I would only be able to enjoy the tea itself while my children enjoyed the traditional tea sandwiches, scones, and sweets. Instead, the servers insisted on taking my allergy list to the executive chef, who prepared a beautiful plate of tea treats that were free of wheat, sugar, dairy, and all of my other allergens. He even managed to make me a sugar free desert! The food was well seasoned with complex flavors and beautiful presentation. I was so happy to be able to eat tasty, beautiful food outside of my own home again.
Enjoyed Easter Brunch for very first time. Fabulous! Also, try their high tea sometime. Reminded me of having high tea at the Savoy in London.
Great facility, great locatiin. Staff was professional and attentive. Loved the event in this space.
Very nice. They have tea here too and a jazz band for cocktail hour.
Went with a friend to the afternoon tea section at the Brown Palace. We chose the Royal Palace tea option. That included a glass of champagne as well as our choice of tea and collectibles. The scones were fabulous the little finger sandwiches were so light and tasty. The dessert options on top we're wonderful. The macaroon and the little chocolate pie were probably my favorites. It was a great experience fun to do and would do it again
Great room, clean, pleasant staff, live music fills the hotel during the day.
Beautiful historic hotel, but a bit quirky. In need of some updating. Greatly lacking in outlets in the bedroom area. Wallpaper ripped or falling off wall. Friendly professional staff. Fun bar.
Overrated. Just cashing in on a name. Calling it Thanksgiving brunch just so they can roll out their usual brunch menu in addition and not do a great job on anything in particular. Prime rib was okay gravy and everything else rather generic. Time to go to new places.
