The room was fine not wow ! But the 2 Michelin star restaurant was the worst omg, doesn't worth a penny, was so basic no creativity and I couldn't even complete the 2nd main course ( not delicious at all) my husband told me that I cook better than this chef :) or maybe the chef wasn't there because the food was so basic.

There's a very specific demographic at this hotel ...

There's a very specific demographic at this hotel - I'd say generally it's 38+. We got this place under the Fine Hotels and Resort Program. I had better experience with other hotels under this program.

The accommodation and staff was super helpful and very knowledge on everything that we requested.

The complementary coffee/tea had too much fine print to understand what was complementary and ultimately showed up on my invoice.

The gym is outdoor/patio style. It was clean but dated. No pool. The gym had lots of clean towels, fruit and water for those who needed it.

The room we got under the AMEX program was average. When I say average - I think I was expecting to be "wowed" with the furnishing. Sheets were clean, piles of pillows and the mattress was comfortable. Windows opened and were brilliantly sound proof.

The bathroom was nice. Above average size and plenty of amenities to go around. There were steps leading up to the tub/shower - not sure what that was all about - it was different and I approached the stairs cautiously as I exited the tub.

No draft beer at the bar. I was told it was cocktails only with bottle beers. Again - the demographic at the bar was specific, 38+.

Breakfast at this place was above average. AMEX included a $30 pp credit during this period. The service was great, the menu was short and sweet. Coffee could use some work. The coffee could be a matter of taste. But from a bitterness scale for coffee (not sure if that's a thing) from McD (smooth drinking) to Starbucks (rough), the coffee ranked below SBUX. Lucky for the folks staying at this place - Starbucks was right next door.

Would I stay at this place again - probably not. Would I stay at this place using the AMEX program - probably not. Would I recommend staying at this place... sure, it was clean, comfortable and secure.

If you have been to India and visited Taj hotels there, Campton Place is definitely not as grand or elegant. The main restaurant was closed so we had drinks at the Bar and Bistro. The food was good and reasonably priced but the space was tiny and the decor was not that great. The main restaurant looked a lot nicer.

I stayed here for two nights over a weekend, as I had business in the city on the Monday. My flight arrived earlier than the check in time, but the room was ready on arrival. It's a particularly nice touch to be greeted by name by both the doorman and reception. The room was not particularly big, but perfect for one. Bathroom was huge! The location is perfect, close to Union Square. I didn't eat in the restaurant, but I did have room service one night and the Kerala Fish curry was delicious, and there was plenty of it. The room didn't have a view, but it was quiet and very comfortable.

This place is amazing... The service is beyond perfection just as the previous review stated you feel like royalty... They have an artichoke soup that is the best soup I've ever had... I made my husband bring me twice just to have the soup again!

Pricey ... but worth it... If you want to go super upscale (you know, two Michelin stars upscale) on your Indian, don't miss this amazing restaurant. Prix fix only, they have a 4-course menu and a 6 course. Both wines by the glass, 1/2bottle and bottle are wide-ranged and paired well with the meal. Vegetarian dishes as well as lamb, beef and seafood are available. Black Cod (which was sustainably sourced!!) and lamb (cooked perfectly medium rare) were highlights of the menu. The various off menu small bites had a wide-range of flavor profiles to expand your pallet a bit. I'd save my money and some day come back for the 6 course extravaganza!

Great Union Sq. destination. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was well appointed but didn't have a good view. Only complaint is that gym is outside on a patio and doesn't have many machines.

If you enjoy 5 star treatment with 5 star rooms, then this is your home away from home. Everything from staff to on site restaurant was fantastic. Even during the hectic times of Super Bowl 50, the staff were able to look after each and every need. I would absolutely book here again. Great job Taj Campton staff.

We have been staying at this hotel for many years around Christmas time. The rooms are fine - clean and great sheets, however, the bar and bistro have terrible service. We have had the wait extremely long for our food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It took way too long for them to bring water, bread, etc. and the waiters are rude and inattentive. This is completely unacceptable service at this price point. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because of the amazing doorman who goes above and beyond with the patrons.

Terrible Booked through priceline what i thought was the price I was paying for the two night. After leaving three days later I'm charged an extra 79 for the two night if you are going to add resort fee to every booking wouldn't it be beneficial that you are upfront about it rather than charging people later and not even tell them. It's a shame that you treat your guests that way i would've been fine if i was told about it I'm not ok if you charge me just cause you have my credit card on file. Shame on you never staying here again. Wall Street Journal reported hotels fees have gone up 400% and hotels wonder why Airbnb it's taking you to cleaner. Hope you all go out of Business.

I was not happy with this stay, but I want to make clear that the staff are very nice.

Taj Campton Place markets itself as top-class, but our room was small, get very old and dingy, was poorly lighted, and had absolutely no view. I was anything but impressed. The minifridge didn't even have a freezer section.

The gym was terrible considering they actually charge a 'resort fee'

But by far the worst aspect of the stay is all the extra hidden fees they charge you with. $30/day resort fee, $75/day parking (seriously..) can't eat breakfast for less than $30. $30 for internet.. you might as well just double the price of the room.

Also they brag about their restaurant all day long.. "Michelin " I had an omelette for breakfast, it was super dry and looked like it came out of a machine. I asked for some sauce/salsa to give it a little flavor and they brought out ketchup..

Anyway, staff were nice so I have them 1 more star than they deserve

2 Michelin star restaurant modern cuisine with hints of Indian spices. Went with the spice route and the food was indeed amazing. Dishes were well presented, service was good, not great. I would say the timing of the experience could have been better, but overall, worth a try.

This review is for the Service at the restaurant, food was good(that's why 2 stars). I made a brunch reservation to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. They forgot to bring us half the appetizers that we ordered and brought us the main course directly. We had to remind them after which those dishes were served. I had also requested a dessert with a candle and happy birthday twice (first while entering and second while ordering the dessert) which they IGNORED and brought out the cake just as is. I had to remind them in front of my husband which was embarrassing to say the least. They forgot to add an appetizer to the bill which i brought to their attention. No Apologies from the staff, felt very uninterested. VERY Disappointed, left a bad taste in our mouths and we will not be returning.

The rooms are adequate but the room service is totally unsuitable.
It was indeed impossible to serve me a breakfast early under the pretext that the kitchens were closed.
The manager refused to receive me to find a solution and let the hostess take off alone.
So I went to catch my flight without having breakfast.
I am very disappointed and does not recommend this establishment which on the one hand is not able to propose a service adapted to a business clientele and on the other hand is directed by a manager who is inaccessible to solve the problems.

Great location, clean rooms and most importantly the house keeping do an excellent job. Stayed here for two nights and already booked my next stay here. The staff at the front desk, lobby, bar is extremely friendly and helpful. I had the breakfast inclusive with my stay, the only problem was that the staff at the restaurant during breakfast wasn t friendly at all. They were ready to even accommodate any minor changes in my meal.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for stay.

Lunch menu was awesome. Worth the price. Service was rush with no patience. Waiter seemed to focus on getting the job done than giving you good service. I had been going to their dinner service. It has been become less impressive. So decides to come for lunch. Good value.

We went to SF for a weekend get away. The Taj is in a great location, in the heart of the city. Accommodations are top tier. Sunday breakfast in the restaurant was first class. And, service was excellent. We loved everything about our stay at the Taj.

Very nice rooms. Room service great. But $75 for parking? Also in the dining room they added 20% gratituty but did not tell us ( so we tipped 20% on top of the total. Also my wife had the continental breakfast which includes "toast and 2 pastries" which she got the first day but not th second day. (we were told no you get 2 items) Anyways felt nickel'ed and dimed.

I cannot say enough good things about the Taj!! The service and staff in every area of the hotel was suburb! It starts with a warm welcome from the doorman and ends with a friendly goodbye from the doorman. The front desk was patient and very understanding and accommodating when our debit card was declined and we had to call the bank. We asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available and they took their time to locate something for us. Our room was absolutely lovely! The bed was warm and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and had a big tub that allowed my wife and me to soak together after a long day of walking and sightseeing. When we finished, bathing robes and slippers were waiting for us. We had this cool window seat overlooking the street below. We enjoyed sitting there with our complimentary coffee and muffins and watching the busy people below. To our surprise, the window opened allowing the cool refreshing Pacific air and the sounds of the city in. It s the little things that make a difference! When we returned to our room after being out for the day the maid service had neatly wrapped up all of our power cables with a tie. We did not eat at the restaurant, but dining room looked amazing we just ran out of time. We did have cocktails in the bistro, and they were delicious!! Location, location, everything is within walking distance. Great shopping or in our case window shopping right outside the door in Union Square, An easy walk to Chinatown and North Beaches Little Italy and Nob Hill. Or catch the Cable Car down to Fisherman s Wharf. My wife and I started a hospitality business 35 years ago that became iconic. We understand hospitality and are very critical, but this is one of those rare gems that sparkle that leaves you satisfied in every way!! Kudos to the entire staff, job well done!!! We will be back!!!
