Some of the dishes were good (e.g. the prime rib), in others the ingredients were not what you would expect from a restaurant serving expensive meals. The service was excellent though. Overall, it makes for a nice night out, but we didn't think it was worth the price.

Took my girlfriend out for her birthday dinner.
The place very upscale and nice. The food is amazing specially the Chili Rock Shrimps.

The staff is really friendly and courteous, the portions are worth the price you pay.

Will go there again!

The mediocre food doesn t make up for super rude hostesses and sub par service. They used to be great but not anymore. We actually waited for an hour even though we had a reservation. Go to Nobu or Hakkasan for a much better experience.

I come to NYC for work frequently and am always looking for good places for dinner next to the office. Buddakan never disappoints - great for smaller size groups or bigger parties. Great for sharing.Dark and a bit darkish so probably not the best for a very business like meeting. Some of my favorites are the yellowtail, edamame dumplings, black cod, pork buns and noodles - any kind of noodles really! I have tried a few of their deserts and their doughnuts are really good!

Can not say enough good things about Buddakan. The drinks are solid and the food is some of the best in NYC. I love the Monkfish, carrot dumplings, and coconut and pineapple rice. Good for big, small, and private parties.

Good food and lots of it! Friendly staff as well which a winning combination. We had the tasting menu and everything was excellent but the rate at which the food arrived was too quick. I've done tasting's before at various restaurants including Michelin starred ones and now have felt this rushed. Would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for that.

The Good: Service and ambience were great. The black pepper beef and Dungeness crab sticky rice were flavorful and well seasoned. They also sent out a scoop of ice cream at the end because it was my birthday so that was nice.

The Bad: The meal was very expensive, especially considering how underwhelming most of the food was. The lobster fried rice was dry and wasn t seasoned well, the Thai basil in it overpowered any other flavor. The shrimp and lobster chow fun was pretty much just boiled lobster (a bit over cooked) and shrimp with plain noodles, honestly the dish seemed like all the ingredients were just boiled separately and thrown together in a bowl.

I wouldn t recommend this restaurant unless someone gives you a gift card to go there.

Atmosphere as well as service are very good and attentive. Food is also good and the menu offers a wide variety of choice and includes a lot of uncommon and tasty foods. The 4 stars are because I believe it is a bit overpriced..

To be honest, I had higher expectations for this restaurant!
The restaurant atmosphere wasnt the one that I expected! It was very dark and not cozy at all!
The food itself was good! We tried cauliflower lollipops and hot shrims and they were delicious and fresh! We also tried their ribs and they were fresh and good, but nothing to remember! The service was on point, but overall the restaurant didn't live up to their high prices!

Sheer Upscale delight! Huge space of 16000 square feet! Food is not outstanding for this scale but very good. But the ambiance, decor and set up are just apt for a club like restaurant. The service is good. You need to book at 45 days ahead if booking for 2-4 people. If the group size is bigger than at least 2 months in advance. I met a group of 13 chinese people and they had booked their table 3 months in advance. The cost for 2 people with drinks should be around $180-200 with tip. Must visit at least once .

On Monday, I dined at Buddakan with loved ones. The experience was phenomenal!! The ambulance is the first thing that hits you; huge ceilings, sleek wall cut outs, huge artwork and decor, and a gigantic deeply sunken dinning room. Chef Zach Taylor wowed us with over 20 course of his finest creations. Our waiter, Kevin, and the services staff could not have been more attentive, entertaining and welcoming. Hands down, best meal I have ever been served. Highly recommended for a top notice NYC dinning experience.

Amazing. The restaurant is incredibly beautiful, our server was very attentive, friendly and efficient and the food was just out of this world. I have never had Chinese food so light, yet with such complex and delicate flavors. It was a spectacular meal and I couldn t recommend Buddakan more.

I was at this restaurant a few years ago, and had a much better dining experience. If memory serves me correctly, the food portion was much bigger. I left the place, and had to go to Koreatown to have a bowl of noodle because I was still not completely full. Overall, price is on the high side, and portion is way too small. I wil not be returning.

This place is an unique experience. Unique food you might not order but it's all good so I recommend trying anything on the menu. Staff is fun and courteous and can help you make a good decision on food or drink. The atmosphere is dark with mostly candlelight dinner. I felt like I entered a Blade movie and I don't mean that as a bad thing. Oh and make sure to get a dessert!

Family style serving and the food is delicious. Appetizers were okay but the real treat is the entrees. Personal favorites were : steak, lamb chops (I wish it had a sauce for it), and the blackened cod. The pistachio chocolate cremosa for dessert was also texture desserty heaven

One of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. Great atmosphere and delicious food. The drinks are delicious. I recommend to make reservations before attending. Is very fancy and trendy. Is a very popular restaurant in the city. Everything in the menu is delicious. The customer service is excellent. The presentation of the plates was fantastic. I always enjoy my night at this fabulous restaurant.
A most go to if you are visiting or browsing in N.Y.C.

Lavishly decorated and pretentious restaurant. The food was unremarkable and the service was slow. Add to this that the server was the most annoying that I have ever encountered. He knew nothing about the wines (and could not even province them), was unsure what some of the items on the menu were, and delivered the wrong items to the wrong people at the table.

The description of the sole on the menu sound intriguing but when it arrived it was a steamed fish with a tasteless sauce. The side of wok prepared broccoli was tepid and tasteless.

Amazing ambience. Excellent service and the food was spectacular. Also took into account specific dietary restrictions of folks in our group which many fine dining restaurants don't do. Will definitely be back here!

I felt beat up and rushed. We were celebrating my daughters 25th, 5 of us, and I don't mind the $700 tab but don't tell me "that if I don't order soon I'll have to wait an hour for my food" . IMHO, it's over rated!

Visited this place for birthday! And fell in love with this place immediately! We started with mocktail which were incredible! And went on with dim sum platter which was okay!
Lobster rice was okay too as there was no flavor! The rock shrimp was too salty.. I would recommend this place for it's beautiful interiors!

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS! We were visiting from out of town and wanted to experience something recommended by Bobby Flay on the show "Best Thing I Ever Ate"...Peking Duck. Our reservation increased from 5-7 and it was decided that we would order from the "Chef's Tasting Menu: Sampler #1" instead. We thought we would be given a sampling of each item, however, when the food started to arrive, we soon realized the portions were more than enough for 7 people and we enjoyed EVERY item from the menu. From the appetizers to the dessert, the presentation enticed you to taste and every item had it's own distinct flavor. My faves: Edamame Dumplings and Glazed Alaskan Black Cod...although everything was delicious, these items topped my chart. WE WILL RETURN!
