Great dining experience. Food and service were both excellent. Waitress nailed the recommendations for dishes. Ioannis was a great host and look forward to returning.

Love this place! We visited the one in Philly as well..The second visit wasn't as great due to the food being cold when it finally arrived but I still love the food!
Great service, good dim sum, but the lo main was way too salty. I had better lo main at my local Chinese joint.
Amazing food and service. we have been there for our anniversary and this place is awesome. I will recommend it to my friends.
Trendy and somehow enormous. The black pepper beef with bird's nest was amazing. We also started with the scallion pancakes which were sweet, succulent and delicious. The Shachu (sp?) chicken and the wild mushroom chow fun were average and I felt like I could have gotten them anywhere. It was also pretty pricey--you pay for that nice ambience.
Unique cocktails and great tasting menus...perfect for group celebrations
Expensive and is NOT good or authentic Chinese food. Waiter was a bit rude when I had a question about a menu item. The menu was ambiguous and said "Chinese vegetables" which is like the same thing as saying "vegetables" because there are so many.....and they didn't even cool the dish that well. The portions are tiny and expensive
We made a change of time there the food impeccable, the restaurant gorgeous !!!
The service could have been better. Overall the food was good.
Cleaned our plates here and had a great time. Food is amazing and my fav restaurant in NYC.
Place is awesome, food and atmosphere...check em out!
Fantastic scenery and the food is brilliant. Every bite is savory and drinks are well played
Maybe I'm biased because the space immediately appealed to me due to its high ceilings & sophisticated interior design but I was definitely floored upon entering this chic Asian Fusion eatery. And not to mention, I celebrated my unforgettable 28th birthday here. The server seemed like an actor in a funny play, so he was certainly entertaining and adept at memorizing orders. In other words, excellent service.
I think aside from all this, I was very impressed by the food. My goodness! They offered everything from land and sea. Our crab fried rice was served in a crab shell! That was one of my favorite dishes next to the fish and the shrimp dumplings. I don't think you can go wrong with anything.
Incredible ambiance, service and food. Simply sumptuous
No vegetarian entrees.veg sides were there but portion size small.
One of my favorites year after year, cool, chic, sensual, sexy...amazing service and food!
Always a favorite for Asian fusion. My friends always ask to meet there for dinner. Interesting staff but food was good. If you have Marci as your server try not to engage in conversation bc it will never cease.

My friend picked the spot, since they were from out of town. Glad they got a reservation. On a Sunday night we were looking at 45min-1hr for a table. They offered bar seating but at this kind of place you didn't want to be at the bar. Its nice and we wanted to enjoy our meal in a comfortable seating area. The noise level is pretty loud, but manageable just don't sit at the end or you won't be able hear everyone at the table. Waiters were very polite and accommodating. They suggested good choices for us.
We got the short rib dumplings, short rib scallion pancake, lobster egg rolls, wild mushroom chowfun, grilled whole seabass.
I have to say this was a fancy spot, and pricey, we did 4 dishes amount 4 people which was just right with some wine. Came out to 50 a head roughly before tip.
I have to say the flavoring of food was satisfying. Some of the dishes I felt I knew how they would taste surprised me. It was packed with different fragrances and flavors. The sea bass I felt like I could still taste the Smoked Apple grill on my tongue still.
We didn't stop and also got dessert!
Dessert as Coconut Mousse
mango creme, thai basil, puffed rice
Maple Bread Pudding
maple creme caramel, peanut ice cream
Chocolate Pistachio Cremos
cherries, cocoa nibs, pistachio ice cream
Everything was really on point, I wish I had more room to eat it all, but had to spot eating after reaching beyond full. Worth a try, the decor is beautiful, maybe a little confusing to navigate once downstairs and trying to find the bathrooms. Don't expect it to be quiet, but enjoy a good time. The time at the restaurant was a bit slower paced, but enjoyable with good company and conversation.
As always check the pictures and my instagram @Jliueats / LcrazyaznL
First of all, let me say this...I don't normally go to restaurants that the average dinner is $30 - $50. I enjoy a great meal, but don't seek out the higher end type of restaurants. My cousin and I went to dinner on Sept 3 and our bill was around $240 for two people (with tip). With no hesitation, I have to say, I would do it all again!! The ambiance, food, drinks and service were all as great as you would expect. I had the pork dumplings to start (delish!), vegetable fried rice (amazing), filet beef (so savory) and tempura chicken (INCREDIBLE). I will absolutely go again & recommend it to everyone visiting the City.
Tons of food in a fun group I friendly setting. We went with the tasting menu and had solo many portions of delicious everything. Pricey though :-)
I had recently went for my anniversary and had the most amazing experience. Quick service! Friendly staff, great cocktails, and amazing food! Well worth the trip. We had the Lobster Egg Rolls, Crispy Salmon Dumplings, and the Singapore Chili King Crab. all very good dishes and even their mochi doughnut dessert was amazing!!
Another one of my regular places but a round of bad drinks left a bad taste in my mouth so only 4 stars instead of 5.
So if you want extremely overpriced and overly sweet Chinese food, then you should come here. I have to say, plating and decor might be the only reason you come to Buddakan. It's not that the food is bad, it's just so abysmally washed out. Even when it comes to decor, there's just something off. A beautifully decorated place, but it oozes an unshakeable feeling of fake and plastic.
Decor is awesome. Very sexy inside. The service was fine, nothing over the top but we were forgotten either. The food was okay, depending on what you get. I had the short rib which was fantastic however the rest of the meal was more or less just a touch better than most other Asian fusion food.
Very slow service
The food taste dont even close to the price it costs...
Sorry but i feel like I need people to know before they spend 60$ on a dish
Food was good but they have to do better with the drink options.
Out of all the places I have tried in NYC, this is one of my favorite dinner spots. The beef tenderloin with the yummy sauce is amazing. We also tried the lobster fried rice and the oxtail dumplings. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu.
The customer service is consistently quick, good atmosphere, nice staff. Will return again when I get here.
One of the best restaurants I've been to in life! Every single thing I ordered was beyond! Lobster egg rolls, tuna tartare spring rolls, general Tso dumplings, rock shrimp, sizzling short ribs, black pepper beef, lobster fried rice, shrimp and lobster chow fun, mongolian lamb chops... Between 4 people... It was so amazing I couldn't stop dancing in my seat. It ended up being $141 per person... 25% tip included. Def on the pricey side... But quality ingredients and food... Beyond worth it!!!!! Go!
Local with a lot of atmosphere, very correct Thai food, something expensive
Whilst on my visit from Australia I was told at how fantastic this restaurant was by fellow family and friends so my expectations were high.
From first greetings the service was there. They offered us for our jackets to be taken to the cloak room and asked if we would like a drink at the bar while we waited for our table.
It was just one amazing experience. The food was tasty and the flavors were quality. A main highlight was the duck. It was one of the best I've eaten and definitely should be ordered if you were to go. This place is a must if you are in Manhattan.
Next to Chelsea Market. Elegant and well-kept restaurant. Quality Asian cuisine revisited.
I had my Christmas eve dinner dinner at buddakan and was lucky that I did not have wait for hours to get a seat. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and beautiful statue of buddha. The staff is really nice and provides quick service. Food items are really delicious.
From the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be a great evening! As we waited for our table, we enjoyed cocktails in the lounge. After being escorted to out table food was amazing! Service Great!
Probably the best Asian restaurant I had the chance to taste!
Great atmosphere, not so great food. Reservation was late and very crowded to get a drink at the bar.
Very cool interior - fantastic space and excellent food
Great small plates and desserts. Don't leave without trying the edamame dumplings and tuna tartar spring rolls. The atmosphere is chic, modern and sophisticated. The main dining room is truly amazing.
very good food.but even if you have reserved you have to wait for your table at the bar (we waited for 25 min)
Great fancy got spot place to be with top food. But takes long to get a free table. Though we had a reservation
Awesome dinsums and ambience.
Staff is very professional.
Bar is great
More than the food, I think we admired all hands on deck customer service approach. Probably one of the best we ve experienced. Don t get me wrong, food was great too.
Above & beyond! Love the flavor, service... Everything!!!
Delicious well cooked food, good atmosphere and high quality and attention from the staff!
Will definitely come again.
Remember the 'Sex and The City' movie? Yes, Carrie has her rehearsal dinner in this beautiful and decadent restaurant. Sat downstairs, same spot as Samantha, and had a wide selection of food as we were doing family style. The food is to die for, really unique fusion of flavors. The decor is decadent with enormous chandeliers, woodwork throughout the space, it just feels very trendy and cool. Did I mention amazing cocktails? Must come back.
This restaurant will not dissapoint from the minute you walk in, to the minute you leave. The atmosphere, the food and the service are incredible. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We went with 4 adults and 4 kids and they accommodated everyone.
The restaurant immediately sets the mood when you walk down the stairs to the main dining area soaring ceilings, ornate chandeliers, sexy lighting. Most of the time trendy restaurants don't deliver in the food department but this one really did. Our large party shared a lot of dishes and my favorites were the black cod and short ribs but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
First let me start out saying, the food is great here. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, was the very rushed service. Whatever you do, don't order your entire meal at once, otherwise you'll be out of there within 30 min. Needless to say, we felt very rushed.
We ordered 4 appetizers and four entrees, all served family style. Best dishes of the night were the Kobe beef and the cashew chicken. The shrimp pad Thai was just ok and the crab fried rice was under seasoned.
Outstanding food and a brilliant atmosphere. Made our wedding anniversary evening very special!
Got food poisoning after the appetizer and could eat anything else the rest of the night
Not impressed. We went with a group of 8 so we got to try a lot of things. There were a few dishes that we really liked, like the carrot dumplings. However, most of the dishes seemed like we could have ordered them from a chinese take out restaurant. The atmosphere was nice and they had good service but I probably wouldn't go back.
Always a pleasure dining here. Celebrated my birthday here last night everything from the hospitality to the food was 10/10
Best asian food I've ever tasted. Perfect service and good atmosphere. A must for everyone!
I was in this restaurant, brought by a New York friend.
I had never been there, but I had always heard of it. Among other things, it's a restaurant often featured in the movie "Sex and the City".
Gorgeous service, spectacular food. Beautiful atmosphere. We didn't eat in the famous chandelier room, but in a more private side room.
I would stay there again.
The waiter service was really nice, nice place and modern design restaurant but the foods was average.
I don't normally write review but this time i decided write one because firstly it took so long for them to bring the food and then they made me wait 25 mins again in between my meals.
There's a secret about this sprawling Meatpacking District hotspot: the food is actually good. Although the gorgeous sunken room with the famous communal table may be more attractive to partiers, serious food lovers will find a lot to love. The peking duck is a must try.
Cool place & great coctails, food could've been much better. Fairly dry & bland tastes. No truffles flavor in the truffle lollipos
Great food and service. Had the fillet beef, sensational to the point the couple next to us wished they'd ordered it. The dumplings were next level.
Great restaurant, different foods and a very nice atmosphere! Just the price which is a negative factor!
The food is amazing, but the music keeps being played way too loud. I have hearing problems, so basically I sat shouting to people asking them to repeat what they said, and finally gave up and was not able to interact with anyone for over 2h.
This place is just like tao across the street. The prices are ridiculous for small amounts of "Chinese" or "Asian" food.
They're all basically Chinese inspired appetizers cooked by white hands. Even the main dishes.
It's a big place and the drinks are standard stuff.
Unbelievable spare ribs and filet entrees! There was nothing there that was bad but the two items listed above were phenomenal!
love this place! so good especially that crying choclate dessert!!! almost made me cry!
The Buddakan is at all one of my favorite restaurants. The ambience is very classy and elegant furnishings. The staff is always very friendly and courteous.
The pasta with mushrooms and pistachio dessert are my absolute Favortien.
The restaurant is - tripp duty visit to each New York - despite the proud prices.
We went there for the 30th birthday of my girlfriend and we really liked it. As you are about to spend quite a lot of money here, this is our full detailed review.
Food: a-maz-ing asian food, modern and really tasty. We went for the Dumpling tasting for 2 as starter which was great. Then we shared the scallops with chorizo and mushroom and the lobster rice as a side. Go for the scallops but forget about the rice, nothing really interesting. For dessert: Three chocolate cake and cremosso pistachio were both awesome.
Place: kind of noisy-dark-trendy place in an asian-like decor. We like that kind of places but it might be a problem for some of you.
Price: we spent around $200 for our meal and a bottle of wine. I think the experience is worth the price.
Service: hopefully Kristy was in charge of our table! She has been amazing from A to Z. She was very helpful in the selection of the menu, giving us time to chose and tips on the desserts. Thank you Kristy ! "hopefully" because the people in charge of bringing the dishes didn't care about us at all, explaining the dishes was just a pain for them, they gave me the birthday cake of my girlfriend without asking or reading the name on the plate... Service unworthy of the place.
Still a very good experience in a modern asian restaurant: 4 stars for us.
I love this shop. If you can set it up and get a table: Definitely try the Peking duck!
I love everything about this place been enjoying every experience for the past 5 years
I just sent a large party of 18 guests from our company to this restaurant for a second year. They came back raving about their experience and extremely happy with the food and their dining experience. Working with Roxanne to coordinate a large dining party was a pleasure and she was extremely patient and helpful to me in coordinating this dinner. Thank you Roxanne and staff at Buddakan. Your organizational skills, service and hospitality are something I can always count on, when sending our senior team associates to you, all the way from Florida. I know everything is being taken care of and that I don't have to worry. I'm sure we will see you again next year! Job well done!
High end, upscale Asian fusion food. Food are creative. Very nice decor. Very good for dates. Pricey.
Such an amazing experience. Blew my mind everything was beautiful and the food was amazing
Well one of the classiest spots downtown. The food is good and not that expensive.
