Amazing place.

Amazing place.
Due it's very nature it's not brilliantly accessible, but provision has been made wherever possible.
Great to see such a well maintained tribute to a real genius.

Great exhibit with hands on and relics you can touch, plus living characters on the quay side who will tell thus great ships history. Superb value and a totally unique living museum. One of a kind.

Much better than seeing it on the telly.

Much better than seeing it on the telly.
Absolutely excellent site for this piece of maritime history.
Very easy to get to. If you don't know Bristol it's signposted prominently all the way from the M5 to the ship itself. Nice staff, a lot of good information and access to most of the ship itself inside and out.
A very worthwhile place to visit.

Must visit. If you like ships, you might already know about Brunel and SS Great Britain. Still, an impressive display of the historical ship. Well laid inside lower decks and outer decks.

You can dress up in Victorian Gowns & Fur Coats and get your pictures clicked by the humble gentleman there.
Don't miss out the Brunel play enacted by the amusing and enthusiastic actor in front of the Dockyard Museum.
Moreover, the tickets are valid for 1 year, so you can visit again, if you are visiting the city.

Comprehensive and engaging displays. Dry dock level mesmerising. Plenty to see in the museum and the Brunel display as well as on the boat itself. The ship's final berth in its birthplace is particularly apt.

This is a special place. The old ship back in the dry dock where it was built.
It is fascinating to walk round underneath the hull and see its shape and its construction.
The recreation of the initial cabin layout and engines gives a good feel for what it must have been like.
The relics around the ship yard and in the museum are fascinating. The stubs of mast stored around the back by the schools eating area are worth a look.
The views of Bristol from the ship are good too.

Nice day out, there is some amazing acrobatics showings, incredible athletes who soar in the sky 20 meters above deck, with seemingly no safety harnesses. Fantastic! The guided tours are excellent, the tour guides are enthusiastic and love answering questions about anything and everything. The prices very good and the day was thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Not having been to this attraction for a number of years I was impressed with the improvements. The exhibitions were very well presented and highly informative. The recently opened Being Brunel was particularly interesting exploring, as it does, the life and experiences of the man giving a real insight into the context of his creations.

I visited with a school group (Y5) and we had an excellent time. Our Guide, a lovely gentleman called Edward, was wonderful. He was so passionate about the boat and her history, and, as he took us all around the boat, he kept the children engaged from start to finish. We also had a space to lock up bags and packed lunches when we arrived, then returned to them at lunchtime to use picnic tables (outdoor, but sheltered & under patio heaters). After lunch we had a well thought out and engaging workshop and a free goodie bag for the class to take back to school. An excellent day all round, highly recommended! I definitely recommend doing the boat tour first, then a quick look around the museum, then lunch, then finally the workshop, when the children are ready to sit down for a bit. Last year we did the museum first, but the children were just itching to get on board, and didn't take much in. If you do the boat tour first, the museum will be a lot more meaningful for the children.

The staff could not be more helpful or knowledgeable. The content here is exceptional by any standard and the restoration that has been carried out is simply remarkable. The Being Brunel exhibit is very well put together and the interactive parts brilliant for the kids. Highly recommended.

Great boat looks nice. But didn't move? I thought I payed for a journey. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. Don't get fooled. I have a picture of me at the boat so you can see its absolute beauty.

An absolute must to see if you are in the Bristol area. A highlight in our summer vacation through southern England. They have made this museum cool and super interactive. No doubt: Do it!

Extra things for kids to do.
Fantastic history. Really well informed guides. Unfortunately I recommend you take two visits (Keep your ticket / valid 1year).

What a great place, if you into history and ships, I say this is the main attraction in Bristol for you. You could spend a whole day and still needing to go back, I think this is why the ticket is valued for year, yes a year, great value for money. All of the facilities are clean and the shop is full of souvenirs which are at reasonable prices.

It has some good historical facts listed in the artifacts section. It is interesting to see the various quarters inside the ship. Overall, it is designed to consume half a day but it isn't worth spending more than 2 hours here. Also 14GBP entry might be a bit too steep but not if you actually spend more than 3-4hours at the attractions here.

A simply wonderful experience. You can walk around the whole ship including ' under the water line' where the dry dock cleverly has a glass floor at the water line with rippling water on top of it to make it look like Brunel's ship is afloat.

Fascinating to walk around the ship from seeing the engine room to the conditions people lived in for their voyage (tiny beds - my how we have grown).

For a little extra and the brave you can even climb up the rigging - I wasn't that brave!

There are several museum elements, one a walk through to the ships deck level and another experience all about the brilliant Brunel with a homage to his other works.

We spent a good 4 hours their and will go back on our tickets that allow return visits within 12 months at no extra charge.

Parking is close by and the ship and museums have lifts for people struggling to get around (one of our party had a cast on her leg and she managed ok) by the nature of it being a real ship in a very old dry dock access might be a little restricted to all areas for someone in wheelchair although they would certainly be able to see most.

One of the best exhibitions/museums that I have been to.

Well worth a visit.

Well worth a visit.

being from the local area, there is so Much Of Brunel's work that has the local area appositively that I find anything related to his work fascinating.

I remember coming here on a school trip many moons ago, so when I had the chance to bring my own son I couldn't wait.

It's fairly costly to get in, but I found it worth the money.

The ship has been restored so much compared to when I visited all those years ago. This feels like a proper museum that just happens to be a ship! There are some interactive displays which help engage the kids and wandering around on deck you get a feel for what it was like all those years ago.

There was lots to see and do and Isambard Kingdom Brunel was even there himself to explain some of his history.

Important piece of history, not just for Bristol but maritime history too. The museum was quiet when I visited, and parking easy and cheap on-site.

The place is well maintained, clean and safe, and the gift shop has surprisingly good prices for a museum shop, and some interesting things to buy.
Overall a solid half days worth of content, the years membership included in the ticket price is a bit questionable as I can't see much value in returning within a year as they don't appear to have many rotating exhibits - a lower price for a one off visit would be welcome, especially for one-off visitors to Bristol.

A big boat with plenty of history. It s a fascinating walk around with plenty of interaction. The history of the boats and Brunel are informative and interesting.

There is a museum on the boat s life, and cruise ships in general. It s good and gives a solid insight to how ships evolve.

You can see all of the boat inside and out. Interesting.

You can walk around a museum on Brunel and his life, as well as the designing of his famous works. It s informative and provoking. I was struggling with the considerations that he wasn t such a great man but a loud mouth.

Worth a visit, allow for 3-4 hours. There are a lot of steep steps for info.
