An absolutely delightful experience on so many different levels. a must for anyone in bristol
Great part of our past, limited choice for wheelchair but give it a go, worth the effort
Great place to visit, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable volunteers.
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and learnt a lot about the ship and Brunel. I would love to come back again! Thank you. James Cook
Amazing experience for people of all ages, plenty to see and do in any weather!
Even with ice rain I enjoyed this so much history and so well laid out a must vist
Amazing sailing ship of past. Explore the outside and inside. Grand and graceful. Opens for viewing ar 10am so don't go too early. The harbour in Bristol where it is docked has wonderful river walks. Go up further and there is the longest suspension bridge in the UK.
Well worth a visit while in Bristol.
I like engineering stuff, and this is very impressive. Great exhibits on the history.
A great place to visit. All the staff were more than happy to tell stories
A really informative day out in Bristol, this was the highlight of our day, it was really interesting learning about the ship and the staff really helped us to understand more about the ship that the signs or information don't tell you about. I would recommend to have a visit.
Wonderful piece of engineering ingenuity and maritime history, a must see place for everyone who loves technology and its history, and admires work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
such a well preserved ship...the preserving process fascinated me more than the history
E Great Britain probably is the main touristic attraction in Bristol. THe museum and the ship are very well taken care of. If you want to see how migrants used to travel in the past, you need to see this.
This is a must visit place. You will travel through time and get on board a good sized old ship and walk through corridors and fully decorated rooms with original items. They did a hell of a job to make sure that you immerse into that era by even using different scents for different rooms like the bakery,l and the doctor room.
Go and have a great time.
Really well presented history of our a great Victorian-era passenger boat. Lively and evocative. Easy parking and well worth a visit
This place is very good if you want to vist a historical place (Ss Great Britan) the place is really good looking for the age it has.
They have a littlee museum that shows what is in the ship what is verry cool if you ask me. They let you move thee steering wheel (not the real one). The view is stunning.
At the end this place is very good!
Well worth a visit. Very informative, children are engaged and all areas are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Fascinating visually and highly informative it has earned it's place as a top attraction.
Perhaps feels a bit expensive for what it is, but I had four hours there (with a lunch stop) and didn't see all there is to see. Good news is though tickets last a year.
Partial refund on the council car park next door is a nice touch. Central bristol is not pleasant to drive through and signage could be better in places.
Make sure you get around all the interior of the ship, is is surprisingly easy to miss you can even go in if you haven't read the map.
If you are interested in history or even the industrial revolution/technology its certainly a place to visit once
Amazing. Loved visiting ss great britain and learning about the ship akd restoration. Interesting to see the inside too and how people would have lived/stayed on the ship when it was at sail.
A really interesting day out. The cast or team are very engaging and personable.
All of the team also seemed very knowledgeable. Very interesting attraction. The more adventurous can climb the rigging. Looked like fun.
The ship is layed out just like it would have been during it's voyages. It's really interesting to just sit there for a moment in a tiny, cramped bunk surrounded by all sorts of rubbish and think what it must have been like back in the day. Very thought provoking and educational
Step back in time when you board Brunel s SS Great Britain. Discover the true stories behind the ship that changed the world. Experience the sights, sounds and smells of life on board for Victorian passengers and crew. Descend under water below the glass sea to touch the world s first great ocean liner.
An amazing ship built by the Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
The ship is in good condition considering its age and has been displayed with useful information to understand life on board. There are interesting occurrences for children whilst touring. It is pissible to explore the whole of the 3 decks.
The shop has great books and souvenirs.
Really good place to visit for all ages. Lots to look at and highly educational. Access for disabled to and from the exibit is excellent refreshments on site with a small cafe. Reasonably priced with a year round pass included in the entry fee a must see for all.
Great experience, the boat is in an astonishing state. Everything is put in place inside to have the feeling that the boat and it's passengers are still here. I definitly recommand this visit.
Fantastic day with the kids! They didn't want to leave. It was fascinating for them to think and see what life was like travelling on a ship in the past. The ship is well laid out and has many interactive features. They laid in beds and smelt horrible smells. They were mesmerised by the hull and being 'underground' to see what's below the water normally. A great day out!
Well worth a visit. Staff and volunteers really knowledgeable and helpful.
We could have stayed there the whole day (and wish we had). The ship itself is full of surprises and so well done. We also loved the new Brunel museum, interactive and a joy to my kid. What a great place (if going with children, ask for the explorer kit!)
Excellent experience and very helpful staff. Ticket lasts for 1 year. Will definitely be back.
Great day out for all the family. Really fun and informative. Good wheelchair/pram access
A great idea, a bit pricey but worth every pound. Loved the museum itself and the story it tells great for people of all ages and a unique idea. You can step in time by trying different costumes and taking pictures to keep the memories.
Beautiful ship with a good coffee shop! I have only seen it at night, and it was lovely.
The parking is very reasonable and the coffee shop is well stocked.
Would say it's a great half day out, and ship has plenty of books and crannies to explore.
Tells you plenty of history and stories behind the ship, so great for a little light education!
A fabulous day out with my two boys age 8&6, we really enjoyed the museum and loved going in the boat, it was so hot inside but we enjoyed it. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable.
I K Brunel is one of my heroes. He designed things that were fifty years ahead of the technology available. This is a magical place, a vessel that defined the future. The museum is well laid out, the ship, back in her original dock, is remarkable.
The ticket allows you multiple trips with 12 months. I've been twice. It was a highpoint of my trip to Bristol.
Really enjoyable experience on board.with friendly staff who know the history of the ship as well as the dockyard.
Lots to see, not too wordy as you walk round . I will return soon to see some bits I missed the first time
Been already a few times. Really breathes the atmosphere of the time of the Titanic. A lot to see and occasionally presentations. You can also see the bottom of the ship (is in a dry dock). There is also a museum about the designer of the ship (and of the Suspension bridge in Bristol).
Brilliant museum and exhibits...knowledgeable staff...well worth the entrance fee..and you can return again for free which is a nice bonus...
Amazing place to visit . Is very interesting for children and adults .
A lovely place to wander around on the Bristol Harbourside, and view the great Ship, and to eat, drink and relax and enjoy the views.
Wonderful exhibition we will be back to complete the visit
My school brought me here, and I brought my mom here years later.
This was a random stop off on the way home from Somerset. Really enjoyed looking around and hearing the history. There are audio guides to listen to that give different perspectives of living on the ss Great Britain, as well as a technical audio. So you can go simple or as in depth as you like.
This has to be the place to go in Bristol after you've seen the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Was surprised by how good the ship was. Amazing! Also it was very large. The museum was very informative with a fabulous display and the shop were very good. And added bonus there is a very large Banksy on a wall within two minutes walking time of the ship.
So interesting lots of parking not to expensive lovely cafes all round helpful staff were ever you go
Stunning experience: well worth visiting for all members of the family: one of the great attractions of SW UK. Don't miss it.
Its a Must See. Great experience: knowledge and fun for kids
Very interesting place, lots to learn. Very helpful and friendly staff.
One of the best tourist attractions in Bristol. We booked for a school group including the "Go Aloft" - climbing up the rigging in the rain didn't dampen the excitement one bit. A truly magical restoration and along with the volunteers it tells a brilliant story of Brunel and a time in the past. If you are staying in Bristol allow a fair few hours to appreciate it all, the ship itself is magical, but the museum and dry dock all add to a fantastic experience. To see the underneath of the SS Great Britain with a glass ceiling to keep the humidity below a certain level and preserve the ship and the same time as giving visitors a unique view is truly inspirational. It is very immersive for the visitor and there will be so much that you will miss because there is such a lot to see. All museums should take note as this is what many need to achieve.
A good day out for all the family and it's worth every penny.
Wish I had more time to spend at the exhibit, but then again the ticket lasts for 12 months
Museum not to be missed if you come to Bristol one day! I highly recommend, its entry price is well worth the cost.
I had a great time at the SS Great Britain today. The museum part was well done and engaging. There are enough activities for little ones to be entertained and a rich collection of objects and replicas for adults to learn.
The boat is magnificent. The dry dock is quite interesting but don't feel obligated to go if you are running short on time or are a but claustrophobic. The top deck is a great place for pictures and there are a few games that kids will love. Downstairs is definitely not for the claustrophobic but an amazing experience. It is a bit of a maze and you might have to back track every so often, so keep an eye on your group and don't lose a member or two.
The Brunel Centre was interesting, but also skipable of you are running short of time. It is a nice break from the weather and has a a cafe and sitting space, so if you are going with someone elder and they need a break, the Centre is the perfect place to go. The movie was fun but it is a bit confusing, has loads of flashing and smoke, and has a tad bit of violence. Some kids would love it, some kids might end up a bit afraid, you know which ones are yours.
Last but not least, the service. Everyone who worked there were incredibly nice. When I got lost a crew member directed me to the right place with a kind smile and loads of patience. The tickets/gift shop staff was very polite and made my experience even better.
10/10 loved the day, it is a great thing that every ticket is valid for the whole day
History, well presented. Drydock level is hot and uncomfortable.
Great place for kids too. Wonderful ship. Perfect afternoon tea aboard. Visit also Brunel"s rooms and go inside his mind.
Very good place to visit. Helpful staff. Good cafe..
Factinating tour of one of the most important ships and engineers in history. Well worth a visit.
