Soundwaves Inc. Review

I traveled a good ways to come in and purchase a car surveillance system after searching online. I can not recall the brand name at this time. There was a Caucasian salesmen (probably was the owner) and an AA salesmen. A male customer had just had his installed in a black pick up, maybe Ford. Salesmen took me outside to check his out. He quoted $600 and I informed him that I would like to have it installed. Which ever was the higher price device. He stated he would call and never did. I presume he thought I did not have $600 or not willing to pay $600 despite that I wanted it. This was last year. I sure was not going to call him. Well the moral of the story is that I searched online again and purchased OwlCam and I love it!

I ordered a "Joyeauto" Carplay unit from China to be installed in my Mercedes E-class sedan. I could have tried to do it myself, but so much could go wrong that instead I called a local MB dealer and asked for a recommendation -- who in Memphis could install this unit and make it work without breaking anything? The answer was that there's really only one place in town to trust: Sound Waves. I'm so glad I took that advice -- they did a great job, put everything back together nice and tight, and now my car's stereo and navigation systems interface wirelessly with my iPhone. "Siri: take me to Sound Waves." It works!

My experience with Sound Waves was great! The gentleman who helped me was Buddy. Buddy was very professional and helpful. He told me that he had the best technicians in town and it must be true.
The work was done quickly and finished at the time promised. Everything works perfectly. I have been in
the service business for 37 years and would highly recommend this top notch company and will use them again.

We had an issue with our vans rear entertainment system with an expired warrant and Sound Waves exceeded our expectations in resolving our problem. Over the years they have upgraded our vehicles and we will continue to take them to Sound Waves!

I definitely recommend William and the crew at Sound Waves. They've previously done work on my trucks and boat but just this past week did a custom sub box and audio upgrade in my 2020 GMC Sierra. Alex went above and beyond on this custom box. It both looks and sounds amazing. The wiring is also top notch as well. If you're looking for car or marine audio this is the only place to go in Memphis!

Today I took my car in and Bubby tells me he can look at my car to see if I have a GPS. He calls to tell me that he didn t find a GPS; he only saw a remote starter. Well his rudeness started when I went in to pick up my car. He tells me I still owe $85. I m like for what you didn t take anything off of my car. Now Xtreme next door said they could look at it and determine for free. They would only charge if they saw something but since I have used sound waves many time before I decided to go with them. Now Bubby never said he would still charge me when he didn t take anything off. Then he s telling everybody in the store my business by talking loud. Scaring my daughter who didn t know anything about it. I never told her. I guess he was being disrespectful because the cop was next to him. But that was ridiculous. I should not have been charged and if he s going to charge me he should have taken something off. The worst thing I have ever experienced. I m requesting a refund.

This is to the response: Always remember that word of mouth mean a lot. I guess you missed it. It was your rudeness. I should have went next door they were willing to look at it and see if there was a GPS device on the car before they worked on it. But because I used you guys years before I thought I would give it a try again.

The team at Sound Waves are the best car audio installers in the business and in the city of Memphis. I have taken them multiple cars over many years and have always been super happy with the service and final product. Buddy and his team are always careful with my 911s. Just recently Gossett could not figure out how to install a factory Porsche radio. Buddy and his team had it done in an afternoon. Thank you!!

Amazing help!! I had a stealth box installed todays on my 2016 mustang and they did an amazing job! I had a small issue but as I was pulling out the gentleman that did the work to my car ran out to me and told me to pull back in and he said he would take a look at what happened and that he did and he fixed it! I LOVE MY NEW SUB THANK YOU SOUND WAVES DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE !!!!

These guys are great. I was having trouble with the video screen in my car, was prepared for them to work on it. But they gave me some excellent free advice so I could do it on my own and saved me some money. This is the way businesses used to be and should be. Trustworthy and down-to-earth guys

Took my 2006 Mustang GT Convertable to Soundwaves to replace the leather Upholstery, rebuild the two front bucket seats, add heating to the seats and replace the carpet.
I searched all over Memphis and online to find black leather and black carpet to know avail. I did NOT want charcoal black, I wanted the true black and Soundwaves not only found my color, they got it at a fair price and passed the savings to me.
It took Brian at Soundwaves four days to complete the task - and I am NOT disappointed!

Update - I had to return to Soundwaves because a section of the carpet kept coming loose and my airbag indicator light never reset and turned off after the upholstery and carpet upgrade. And true to form.... Brian and Buddy took care of it right there, on the spot.

This is the the place to go, if you want QUALITY! Honestly I LOVE this place!!!

When the sale happens you get the product, take it home, and hope for the best. If there is a problem (with the product) you'll often find that 'the best' does not exist in the sales crew you bought the product from. Typically, at this point, it is clear they have neither the expertise nor the proper attitude (towards you) to remedy and resolve the problem. You are left frustrated. Buddy and the crew at Sound Waves however, shatters this dismal and commonplace template. These guys reminded me of championship caliber athletes, focused and determined to beat the problem we encountered with my installation. This is noteworthy because 'You Just Don't See That Level Of Customer Service' anymore. So, Buddy, to you and guys: Job very well done indeed.

If your looking for the best all around then sounds waves is the place to go . Best customer service, Workman ship and timely schedule .. all the people are friendly and honest and work with you the best they can from start to finish.. sounds waves did a three week build installed 4 12s and 3 amps built box amp rack and all !! Neat work and they really do have the best installers in town .. Alex is a awesome and did a outstanding job building my amp rack and box .. believe it when they say he is the best in town because he really is !! Takes a lot of pride in his work .. the staff was very patient as I was there everyday checking the progress and they always went above and beyond to meet my very particular needs .. everything turned out amazing and just how i wanted it to and expected it would .. so go see them for the best custom or basic install In town !! Highly recommended!

I would give them a zero star rating however it would not let me write a review. So the one star is actually no stars. Staff does not seem knowledgeable regarding the intoxalock system at all. Staff is extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. In my personal experience, they are also outright rude. They are extremely unfriendly to intoxalock patrons of their store. This review has come after multiple interactions with this company and its employees. I would highly recommend going to Tint World. They have excellent customer service, friendly staff and great turnaround time.

I had SUCH an amazing experience with Sound Waves. I do mission work in Memphis and have a rental car for the summer, and while loading lumber into the vehicle, an audio knob was bumped and broke off. The car dealership gave me an estimate of $1,216!!!! They had to replace the entire radio. I found Sound Waves through google and went there for an estimate. Buddy had the exact same knobs for the radio and was able to replace them in thirty seconds for $100. The customer service I received was quick, friendly, and my dilemma was treated with utmost importance. Because I lead mission trips, my schedule is super tight and rushed so getting quick answers as well as care for my problem meant the world. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Sound Waves. Their integrity revealed the dishonesty of other places that I went to for help. You will not be disappointed when you choose them.

I called there first because I had an electronic issue with my vehicle. The gentleman who answered the phone and asked me what I was trying to do and I explained to him the situation. Not only did he offer me a better deal for the same price but also was very helpful and informative. Later that day, I continued to have the same electronic issue with my car so I went to Sound Waves off of 64. The gentleman I had spoken with earlier was helping another customer while assisting his coworker with his customer and answering the phone with prompt and excellent customer service. He asked me to give him a second and he would be right with me. I waited about 5 minutes and checked on my car to see if my electronic issue had cleared up and it had not. When I went back in, the gentleman excused himself from his customer real quick to see what I needed assistance with. I told him who I was and what issue I was having with my vehicle. He offered to take a look and assist me. This gentleman took time out of his busy schedule to not only HELP me but RESOLVE the issue with my vehicle as well. He is a dedicated, honest, customer oriented, and multitasking gentleman! I really appreciate him helping me out because I was very stressed and frustrated with my vehicle. I was so impressed with his customer service skills that not only did I comment him, but my friend did who I was on the phone with as well. I asked the gentleman if he was the manager because his knowledge base, friendliness, and professionalism shined so bright! This man will always have my business and I will refer all my friends to him with audio, stereo needs. Thank you so much, BUDDY BELL!

I did not like this shop. The actual installment and financing options were cool, but that was the only pleasant part of this experience (which need to say the financing isn't threw them). They were very unprofessional when it came to handling their work, we picked out a starter to install, they told us to go with another one, ONLY to find out that the original one we picked works with our year car. It took them 60 days to reinstall the correct product and we had 90 days to pay off?!! Then they would wait 1 hour before US calling them, to tell us our car had been ready hours ago and they were not able to get a hold of us.

The products were good, but the experience of the staff has been a nightmare. It makes me disappointed because we actually would like more things done to our vehicles, but knowing how they don't function makes me not want to bring back any business.

Always have my cars worked on here.

Backstory; had a Kenwood multimedia system put in my Morher s Ford Escape a few years back by a local Big Box Store, that included a auxiliary cable for playing up your iPod. She never used it beyond the satellite radio feature, but we just assumed that it worked. Fast forward a few years, I now had the car and wanted to use this feature and when I connected my iPod via the cable, no sound. The system would register that I had connected the iPod, it showed the song track, the artist etc. but no sound. So I tried using other iPods, USB cords and messed with the system menu, nothing. Went back to the Big Box Store, they wouldn t even look at it because they said I had to have proof that they install it. I told them that I knew that they had, because I was the one who purchased the gift card which enabled my mother to come and get it as a present. But they still wouldn t even try to troubleshoot it. So I just cancelled my SiriusXM but still needed tunes, so back to trying to figure out why my iPod will play but without sound. Someone suggested going to Sound Waves because they worked on Kenwood. This is where I meet Buddy, Buddy is my new best friend! I explained to him what was happening he didn t ask any questions such as are you sure the volumes up? He just came out to the Escape, went into the audio setting and explained to me that it needed to be on AV2 and not iPod, because the old way these systems use to be installed you had a auxiliary cable with two connections. I know this probably seemed like the king of all cake walks, giving his Audio Master troubleshooting skills, but it ment a lot to me that he fixed it and didn t make me feel like geez lady you couldn t figure this out? . So go see Buddy at Sound Waves on HWY 64. I have my tunes back!!!

These guys are as proffessional as they come!They know their stuff when it comes to stereo installation!I was in a pay for what you get situation with the previous people who installed my sound system!Sound Waves staff checked my entire wiring system out and explaind what was wrong and gave me options to make it work and/or make it better!They build custom boxes for anything!Dont believe me try them for yourself!Duly recommended!

Very happy with the customer service and the quality. Had my windows tinted, Buddy went over the different options and the install and I was in and out pretty timely considering my appointment was on a Friday. Came back for a minor issue and Buddy got me in next day and taken care of. Top notch service and quality.

Got a remote start put in my F150 and it was smooth from phone call to setup appt to pickup and price was very competitive with local shops! Highly recommend this place as Buddy will take care of any issues or questions you may have. Definitely my go to place for any car electronics from now on!!

Great customer service, attentive to customer needs

I searched everywhere in Memphis looking for a sub/amp. Spoke to many of the shops including 901 (who just barked out prices without discussing the product or options). After stopping by Sound Waves to check them out and look at different options/prices, their sales man, William, was the only guy to actually work WITH me & promptly call me back on different options. Customer service is important & these guys have it. The installation was flawless as well,whereas one shop said they wouldn't know where to locate the bass control. These guys clearly had no issue. Professional. Thanks again!

This place is AWESOME !!!! Stopped by on Thursday and got my install done. Viper Smartstart. These guys went beyond to help me set up and their expertise had been around for 20 + years. This is the only place that will touch my vehicle !!! Best of the Best !! Buddy Bell was great !!

Was getting my 2 front windows tinted was very quick and the staff was welcoming and friendly.

Beware! Do not bring your own equipment for install. Had them install a Sony BT radio from Crutchfield I got bc their inventory was unspectacular. On day of install, was told my car would be ready at noon- it was not. Finally was ready hours later only moments before they closed. Had to take car back to them because I was unsatisfied with the install quality- faceplate awkwardly pushed in and plastic brackets were visibly bending. They claimed that was the best they could do with my equipment from Crutchfield which was specifically ordered for my vehicle... Whatever... Whole thing looked like a mistake. Then about 30+ days later, radio stopped working- you can tell it's not getting any power. Called them to fix and since I provided my own equipment combined with their subpar labor, Labor is supposedly only covered under warranty for 30 days.

Bottom line: this place just wants cars in and out and your money. They sacrifice quality for quantity. Very unimpressed with their customer service, warranty, install service, and lack of attention to detail.

Now I'm taking my car to another shop to fix their mistake and you probably should to! Sound waves, Thanks for the headache and money down the drain!

The place to go if you want a real custom installation. Did exactly what I wanted. They installed what I brought them exactly the way I had asked.

Everytime I go to take care of my business the staff is very friendly & the service is prompt. The staff actually has people skills where other places one would think communication takes precedence but doesn't. 5 stars is well deserved.

Had a remote start put on both vehicles we own at Sound Waves. Recently had a new battery put in one of the vehicles and remote start would not work, but the lock and unlock worked. Wife took in to have checked out. It turned out to be a toggle switch under dash. so no reprogram needed. Best part is, they took a look at my car right then and there. ALWAYS AWESOME SERVICE!!! AND OF COURSE THIS COLD WEATHER AN ELECTRIC START IS THE WAY TO GO. THANK YOU BUDDY AND ASSOCIATE THAT TOOK CARE OF ME!!!

They handle everything with care and once they install I never have to come back because everything is done right the first time! They are the only place to go for car stereo, tinting, or now my yeti needs!

I visited recently wanting to upgrade my sound system so that I could stream music from my smartphone. Buddy listened intently to my explanation and even walked me to the car to assess the situation further. After explaining some options, he helped me realize all I needed was an adapter that would allow the factory receiver to pick up Bluetooth. I didn t know that option existed, and that saved me money on equipment I didn t want or need. Installation was quick and easy, and the product is working great. I couldn t be happier. I scheduled an install with Best Buy 3 weeks out. I took off work for the install only to get there and them tell me it couldn't be done. They were super rude too! I went down the road to Sound Waves and they scheduled me right away. Everyone was super friendly and my radio is awesome! I would definitely recommend giving them all the business!

I had tint installed as a gift from my boyfriend from this place and let me tell you- best experience ever. Sweet people very professional and fast. The quality was outstanding. The tint looked factory it was done so well. And NO BUBBLES! Had my baby for 3 years and not a single bubble. I would highly recommend them for tint alone. Can t wait to see what other amazing services they offer!

Best Memphis source of aftermarket auto electronics

Went in to get a simple radio install and wasn't even acknowledged. Some guy on the phone and some other dude talking with a customer or vendor about nothing important..Think they were friends. Nobody said anything to me. So I walked out and went down to bestbuy and got one put in.

I went in last week for a price that was reasonable, scheduled it on Monday and installed today (4 speakers and overhead entertainment system). Quick friendly service! I will be back (I got two more things priced today).

Definitely THEE BEST car audio shop in town without question! Great customer service! Great line of products! Installation completed in a timely manner! Great workmanship! Five stars with a fierceness!! I wish I could give them fifty stars!! About a month ago Alex customized my A-Pillars & installed a pair of 3" Hertz Mille Pro speakers. The configuration looks and sounds AWESOME!!! Great job Alex, proving once again that Sound Waves is THEE BEST car audio shop in town (as far as I'm concerned its THEE ONLY car audio shop in town). Oh, and ask William to give a demo of his Trailblazer.

Had a remote start put on my truck today and buddy was a lot of help he gave me several different options did not try to push me on anything listening to what I wanted. Nice clean installation they do great work. So far so good love it. Looked at the reviews just remember folks there is always two sides to each story. Was quoted a price on the phone for a new car radio that had satellite radio capacity but when I got to the store, the sales man walked away from the radio area and said they could not install a new radio because of the vehicle that I own. He stated that they would have to build a mount and sell me an external device and it would end up costing twice what was quoted. He also stated that I would have to make an appointment for the install when the salesperson on the phone said once I pick out what I want they would install it right then. Basically I was quoted and told one thing on the phone and something completely different when I arrived. Will not go back there again.

Buddy and the team at Soundwaves have installed complete audio systems in 3 Harley's for me , repaired other poor install jobs on friends bikes over the years. They also have tinted over 3 cars and 2 Jeeps for me with ceremic tint, which does an amazing job keeping the heat down in the vehicles. I moved to South Florda several years ago and could not get the new Rockford Fosgate for my new Harley - Buddy at Soundwaves overnighted me the entire kit so I would have it in time for Sturgis, he even found me a shop to do the install... now that is customer service!

I have now taken three cars here to get window tint installed. Corey does consistent, high-quality work and I couldn't be happier. Well done!
