Excellent hotel. Room was great, as were the staff and facilities. Would strongly recommend.

Pretty good place to stay in DC. Clean modern rooms. Excellent location!
Not much of a lobby but the place in nicely done. Good ballroom.
Very happy with everything and will definitely stay again next time we are in Washington.
Great place, great food and atmosphere would stay again for sure
Disaster of a hotel. Should be shut down. We were here for a conference for 3 days. Rooms were not available on time, and many colleagues had to wait for an hour or more after 3pm! The hotel is in shambles - air-conditioning in the conference room did not work for all 3 days and they did nothing to alleviate the heat and intense discomfort we felt. Washrooms for gents and ladies had non-functional basins, roof was leaking, etc. Rooms were not cleaned properly. We had a nasty stain in our bathroom pot, food from earlier guests on the floor, plug points not working, no bubble bath or finger nail cutter. Maybe if it was one off, it may have been passed off as a mistake, but to have this happen to over 20-30 guests in our group!! All this in the top of the line hotel. Apologies were hard to come by too. Truly a disaster and definitely needs a lot of work.
Location is amazing. This review is 3 stars merely on the fact of when we went not due to the hotel's fault. Currently the dining room is closed along with the other hotel amenities. Valet parking is not currently being offered so be prepared to walk 3ish blocks to park your car parking is 10$ a night. Room service aswell during my stay was not available. Obviously with covid things had to change. Still none the less I did not have a port experience. The room is fair in size not to incredibly large the view depending on which room you get is very nice. And of course the location is really great.
My son and I enjoyed every minute! Polite, professional, and exceptional staff. Clean. Many amenities. Close to museums and monuments. Can't wait to return this year.
Very welcoming staff that treated my 9 year old son like a Prince. The hostess welcomed him in French and when we returned to our hotel late at night there were milk and cookies waiting by his bed. Location could't be more perfect in DC - right in the heart of everything. The morning breakfast was outstanding - especially on the sidewalk patio - very European. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Beautiful room and exceptional service. Wish I was there for more time.
Great hotel and location. Extremely friendly staff. Rooms are well acquainted and quite posh.
We had a great experience at the hotel. Dwayne Skeete went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even upgraded up for the same rate. Great customer service!
Chic, modern, great restaurant and super comfy beds!
Amazing hotel with fabulous hospitality! Henry Guzman made our stay particularly incredible by setting up welcome drinks as we arrived in the room, per my boyfriend's request. He checked in with us during our stay to make sure every need and want was met. Nalaka at the bar is very kind and accommodating. The doormen are very friendly and eager to help in any way, as well as the front desk staff. The rooms are spacious, clean and well-appointed. You can tell that there is a French influence in the design and decor of the rooms. We had a king-size bed that was heavenly and plush. I slept really well on it. The pillows are also really great. One of my pet peeves when staying at a hotel is not getting restful sleep; at the Sofitel, I slept like a baby! They provide complimentary water next to the bed and you can call the front desk if you need more. I feel like all these details make it a truly marvelous hotel choice in DC.
My husband and I stayed for four night at your hotel. I've booked this hotel because we had good experiences before. We complained after the first night that the beds were very soft. Nothing happened. After our scond complaint we were told that they solved the problem by putting a board under the mattress. Considering that the mattress was about 40 cm thick and very soft, it was useless to place anything under it as it made no difference at all. We decided that the hotel didn't want to solve the problem so my husband slept on the floor for the last two nights. Also, for the first two days we were given one bottle of complimentary water and one piece of chocolate fot two guests, nothing on the third day and finally we we found two bottle of water and two pieces of chocolates on the last evening. Not good enough! I would not stay at Sofitel again.
Fabulous in every way..the staff there is first class.
Excellent Stay! Sofitel is a Very Fine place to stay for a business gathering, D.C. visit or just simply a luxury feel away from home!
My husband and I stayed for my Birthday and it was amazing. The staff was very helpful, Dukes the valet was very friendly. We plan on booking this hotel again .
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are beautiful and the service is excellent. My only critique of the Sofitel is the price of EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. The food is good, but not worth the incredulous price. Would recommend the Sofitel if you are on any form of trip where you are NOT the one paying.
The location is excellent, the facilities are very comfortable, 55 "TV and very good Internet.
We will be back! Amazing service and a beautiful, clean hotel close to everything.
Hi,
Loved the room and bed but there was not a desk chair for the desk and it was very uncomfortable working at the desk. I had to use a couple of pillows. Otherwise, my stay was wonderful
Lovely environment and excellent customer service. The rooms are nice as well.
I forgot what was that. I actually don't know what is SW DC. But i went to DC on sunday night to see the capital.
It is a beautiful hotel with so many options. I was here for a comedy show and the theater was only 3 blocks away. Our restaurant was only a block away. I will definitely come back here again.
Amazing hotel. Gorgeous rooms, large bathrooms, and lounges. We have been traveling from state to state and stayed in many hotels. This was a treat for our family. The beds were so comfortable and clean! The staff was so nice and considerate. We checked in super late and they were so nice to extend our checkout and hour after. Will stay here again. Definetly a 5 star hotel! Enjoy your stay!!
Luxury hotel really close to the White House and all the city centre attractions. Really good location and attention.
Very well located. Very clean room, perfect housekeeping.
Normally I like Sofitel. This one - terrible.
The issues:
1) I paid for a king room, and got a double, without notice.
2) I asked for a baby crib, never got one. Was told to check in and call, and itd be sent (ok...)
3) they never pick up the phone - room service or front desk. You have to go down to lobby for every question.
4) when checking in, I had a lot of luggage. Wasn't greated by anyone to help - not a big deal, but I booked this hotel so I can arrive in peace
5) they literally only give you two pillows. When asked, they say it's due to COVID-19 ?
Overall this leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially as I just got back for spending a week in a Sofitel resort in North Africa which left me positively speachless
I understand we re in the middle of a pandemic but there s no excuse for poor upkeep of the rooms during this time. I had to switch rooms multiple times as they had spiders and cobwebs in one room, dirt on the bathroom counter, and a missing piece to the ceiling ventilator and you can see dust all the way through the hole in the ceiling. The water came out brown when I tried to take a bath and I had to let it run for awhile before it became clear. I ve stayed at the hotel before a couple years ago and never had this issue. They didn t even offer to comp anything given the poor upkeep of the rooms with low occupancy. This will be my last time staying at the hotel after this experience.
Nice luxury twin room on the 7th , great food - both in the restaurants and room service and friendly helpful staff.Excellent position too for all the sights, sad to leave!
Room is excellent and spacious, bed is comfy, bathroom is clean and updated. Lobby staff are very nice and helpful. Everything you would want to see is close by.
Update 8/7/16: Changing rating from 5 stars to 1 star. Somehow, our bathroom toilet got used while we left our room. When we came back to our room in the afternoon, we smelled a strong excrement smell. Everything seemingly looked made up and cleaned... however when we lifted the toilet cover, there was excrement smeared onto the seat.
Horrified. We notified lobby staff who said they would contact the manager and fix the problem. We left to explore the city in the meantime. We came back after midnight, and somehow the toilet seat still had not been cleaned, however the seat and cover had been lifted as if someone had checked. We talked to the night manager who was was shocked that it had not been fixed since she was notified that it was cleaned by cleaning staff. She was incredibly apologetic and fixed the problem herself. I felt terrible that she had to be the one to actually clean someone else's literal crap. Needless to say, we were all grossed out.
Big nice rooms with comfortable bed. Hugh TV. Breakfast is a la carte. Service nice but nothing special.
Perfection -- from start to finish, no misses. From front desk staff, to concierge, to doormen -- every single person was friendly, helpful, polite, and efficient. The room was immaculate, spacious, well appointed, and comfortable. The location was excellent -- just a block from the Metro, two blocks from the White House, and 5 blocks from the Mall.
A nice and quiet place to stay while in Washington. Its walking distance to everything and the rooms are very comfortable and inviting. Will consider staying again when in DC.
After booking in until i left the hotel the staff were great from the servers to the door man and housekeeping were fantastic, A coffee machine in the rooms would not be a miss,
The place was beautiful and the staff was decent. The bar was alright. It was nothing extraordinary by any means, but close to where my event was. The room was way too hot, and I could only turn the heat to 65.
Chris the bell hop was fantastic. Especially with my boys, and lets not forget cush at the front desk
Luxury Room, City View was booked. location is excellent, 5-10 mins walk from hotel to metro station (McPherson Square and Metro Center station), 15mins walk to The White House Staffs are nice, helpful and professional. The room is big, Clean, tidy and cosy. Very big bathroom with both shower and tub. There's a coffee bar in the lobby every morning. Will come back again for my next visit. The hotel is conveniently located near the White House and the subway station. The rooms are spacious, clean, clean, basic supplies, staff friendly and responsible, next time you stay at the hotel
Great service, was very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Got coffee in the bar lounge area at sofitel. Very nice staff and comfortable atmosphere. However the waitress was over busy and I had to go find her to get our check at the end.
Excellent welcome, beautiful room with well appointed features.
Great location. Very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside was parking.
Nicely located close to all major sights and monuments. Friendly staff and super comfortable beds
Stayed here for a week while in DC to tour and visit all the museums. Beautiful hotel, well kept and clean, with friendly and professional staff. Location is very convenient and within walking distance from the White House and several coffee houses and restaurants.
I have spent 4 nights in this hotel while visiting D.C. for Business. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly.
The breakfast was ok but a very limited menu with few choices.
I didn't like that there were no night turndown services marching the high price of the room I have paid.
Moreover it looks that the Hotel is understaffed since there were long quou in checkout in Saturday morning.
The hotel is very expensive compared with services and facilities offered in similar hotels
Very good food. Friendly staff. Great place to dine.
Fantastic rooms, excellent food and great location to DC sights. True luxury hotel.
Great bedroom and very efficient service at Breakfast. Week done
Beautiful room with a very helpful and friendly staff.
Always a delight to stay here, great rooms and helpful staff and the French touch
Our 3rd time here and we will stay here again on our next trip here
The people at the front desk are very nice and very helpful.. the hotel is very clean.. the breakfast was great
I love the hotel BUT my bed was awful. It felt like it should have been discarded years ago. I woke with a horrible back & neck cramp and I cant stay there again if i cant sleep comfortably.
Disgusting smell at the restaurant like somebody threw up beer all over the place.
Great location, with comfortable rooms and great staff.
This Metro station is very clean safe enjoy your ride
Good location, nice staff, old house which would need some repair
The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful and friendly. Our room and bathroom were both large. We arrived at approximately 4:30 p.m. but our room wasn't ready until 5:15. The front desk was apologetic and provided drink vouches to pass the waiting time. Valet parking was expensive and they made a mistake. Most people waited 10 minutes but we waited 25 minutes for our car.
I've been double charged for my reservation. I'd already paid my reservation in full before my stay and checked in online, and then I find out that my reservation had been canceled once I go to check in with the hotel in person. The hotel staff then assured me they would return the money to my account and make a new charge. They've yet to refund me for the extra charge in a week since I've left the hotel. Dealing with the hotel staff has been an absolute nightmare. I've spent hours during my stay arguing with them, trying to get them to cancel the extra charge. Never staying here again! I've alerted my credit card company and hopefully my credit card company will be able to resolve this issue, since talking with the hotel has been futile. Incredibly disappointed with how the staff handled the situation. Stay away!
Excellent. My only criticism was that the hotel was quite full and I often had to wait at the front desk - to check in, check out, get room keys adjusted, etc.
This is an excellent hotel. Very friendly staff. Common areas are always clean. Place smells wonderful. Very pet friendly. Nicely decorated on the inside and out. Close to all DC landmarks. I highly recommend this hotel.
Juat visiting but highly enjoyed the area and the organized feel of it. Easy to use as a landmark.
Sofitel Lafayette is a beautiful hotel. I would have given 4 stars if the room had a usable fridge and/or microwave.
Great location. Very helpful staff. Amazing room. Would definitely stay again.
Great hotel! Cynthia took such good care of us. The beds were really comfortable and the location is ideal.
Positive as other times but unlike other times we were not satisfied with the room: small and dark. For having stayed 3 nights at an "adequate" price, we would have liked something better.
Beautiful hotel, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed and clean room. The only problem we had was not being able to get the room cool enough for a good night's sleep, could be an isolated thing, only stayed there once for one night.
Went there for our honeymoon..Room was comfi but didnt like the view much..they offered us nice morning coffee..
But had to pay ~60$ for parking..
