Very high class feel and well appointed. A bit on the small side, but that's the nature of downtown DC.

My husband and I chose Sofitel for our 4th anniversary trip. The hotel staff, the room, everything is just so perfect and beautiful! We truly could not have made a better choice. The bed is the most comfortable we've slept in at a hotel, the sheets feel amazing, the television is huge and on the craziest swivel./telescoping Wall Mount, the room decor is classy and refined, and the bathroom is just lovely with actually high end showerheads and wonderfully sumptuous lotions and bath amenities. There are even robes and slippers for our use during our stay! And the location can not be beat. We will be returning to Sofitel.

For the money you pay, you can get a better hotel. If you want to get a massage you will have to get it in your room, which is not really the point of a spa...
The staff is friendly and the hotel is well located.
Housekeeping didn't vacuum the room during our 6 day stay...

Big rooms, big bathroom, friendly staff, comfy beds, good gym open 24 hours and great location. The breakfast at Ici Urban Bistro is excellent. Great place to stay. The only negative is they charge you for internet which is a pet peeve of mine.

We love Sofitel hotels and always try to stay at one on our travels. Washington did not disappoint. Awesome location, close to everything. Rooms are clean, quiet and like other Sofitel's have the most comfortable beds. Staff at front desk, Porters, and restaurant are super friendly and helpful.

Awesome hotel. Classy, edgy,topical. Right around the corner from the White House. What a great time. $9 for a 1$ shot of whiskey was expected being in the mini fridge.

Whenever I travel to Washington, or frankly any city with a Sofitel, I generally try to stay there. The hotels -- rooms, dining, bars, convenience - are simply better than any other major chain. The service of the staff and level of hospitality is unmatched. That all is true about the Sofitel in Washington - Lafayette Square. It is a perfect location, a beautiful hotel with terrific rooms, the staff is welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The dining at ICI and the bar at Le Bar are terrific. We had one hiccup -- it took the staff nearly 45 minutes to retrieve our car at 5 AM in the morning. The garage is off property and the reason for the delay was not explained. Our first call to the valet for the car was at 4:35 AM. We were attempting to get an early start and did not get our car until 5:20 AM. This very poor service is an anomaly in any service i have experienced at a Sofitel property, so we are chalking it up to that. However, it is something that management should address as it was the last experience we had with the hotel and it left a bad taste regarding our time at the Washington Lafayette Square, notwithstanding the otherwise impeccable service otherwise provided by the staff throughout the stay.

Wondered place to stay. All staff was very friendly. Valent was priced well and easy to use. Bar staff was excellent. The hotel went above and beyond to make our short trip so enjoyable. Chocolate covered strawberries were delivered to our room courtesy of the hotel to wish us a happy wedding anniversary! We will be back!

Air conditioning didn't work. There was no flat sheet, only a comforter, so it was too hot to sleep. The next morning there was hammering coming from the floor below me in addition to the jack-hammering outside. Miserable night.

I was extremely satisfied with the accommodations at your hotel. I was able to obtain an upgrade simply by calling in advance. The rooms were clean and well-equipped. I will definitely stay in a Sofitel hotel if I have the opportunity in other cities.

Very European in not a great way. Everything kind of dark and small. Rooms need updated. Furniture old and not comfortable. No top sheets on beds??? Postives, great location, things are clean and staff was professional.

Great lobby, very friendly and professional staff, classy spacious rooms. We had a problem our second night with the air. They sent someone up to fix it but maintenance was gone for the night so they couldn't. They offered to move us but it was too late so we moved in the morning. So glad we did.

Wonderful stay... staff defines the word "service"... they were there to please!!! We stayed with our dog, and they made him feel so welcome as well.

The Sofitel was very comfortable and relaxing. The staff were very friendly and responsive to my needs.

Concierge was pleasant at check-in and throughout our stay. Rooms are relatively small but the hotel location can't be beat.

Great location, but parking cost a fortune, and the least expensive mini bar item, a 350 ml bottle of water, cost $6.00.

We were charged for multiple mini bar withdrawals, and for valet parking every night, even though we didn't open the mini bar, and only used valet parking one night. Thankfully, all charges were refunded.

Room was beautiful, loved that the front desk agents came around the desk to walk me to elevator. Service was top-notch.

Great hotel right by the Whitehouse. Try to get upgraded at least one up from a regular room as the difference is quite stark.

Waitress was horrible, never had water for the two hours I was there. For the last hour she was no where to be found and I wanted to but dinner and more drinks but left instead since they clearly didn't want business

Great location, very clean, staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Staff made you feel at home and comfortable to be there. 5 * to the staff!

The negative:
Key pad battery died delaying us to a 4th of July extravaganza. A/C in room never got the room to a pleasing temperature and while sleeping I believe it shut off. I awakened both evenings perspiring and tried to engage the thermostats but it never turned on until approx. 5:30am or so.u The shower stall was small and to flush the toilet you had to hold the handle.

As I stay in DC on average 3 times a month, the Sofitel has got to be by far my favorite. Large rooms, comfortable beds, extreme cleanliness, professional staff, great bar/restaurant all make for an A+++ experience!

Very nice ambiance. Very courteous doormen. Drinks are pricey but somewhat worth it.

The hotel was clean. The staff was very good. They had happy hour. It was close to our dad's hotel. We went to the African American museum.

Staff is friendly. Valet gentlemen are awesome! Bar area is well kept.

Rooms are a great size, with a very clean and updated feel. Staff is very kind and location can't be beat on D.C.

I could go on and on about how amazing this hotel is, whether it's the amazing staff who are willing to drop everything to help or the modern amenities in the room. Everything is provided and the rooms are of the highest quality. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel.

The Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square offers a sophisticated contemporary stylishness that sets it apart from the other hotels. As I entered the hotel, I enjoyed the more intimate, personal feel of the hotel. At the same time, I could see that it would appeal to not only a younger customer but also to the mature customer as well. The hotel is one to definitely consider when looking to stay in Washington DC.

Loved our stay here, rooms were large and clean and the staff were most helpful. Would stay again happily.

The hotel is very clean and the customer service is great. I really enjoyed staying here. The location is right next to the White House area so it's very convenient to visit monuments and Smithsonians. There are dining options next to the lobby and also many dining options in Chinatown and City Center. I highly recommend staying here.

Great experience in this very modern hotel. The service was impeccable and the room was spacious and extremely quiet. Location is perfect. My only complaint is the bar service since nobody from the staff came to me to ask what I wanted even though there were 3 servers standing and I was seated for at least 20 minutes before I had to stand up and ask them to bring me and my wife something.

On the whole, everything was fine but to charge for parking over 50 per day and no indication to give is a joke.
2 days booked for about 500 on booking, bill when checking out was 620

As expected friendly, efficient staff, comfortable room and good social facilities. The small business centre was a slight problem. Possibly the hotel could look at having one or two "quiet" spaces for colleagues to meet and discus business without having to use the main bar area.

Bistro was closed for dinner my first night there. Ate in 'le bar' instead. service was slow and they got my order wrong. If not for that I would have rated the hotel even higher.

The buildingng was beautiful, clean exterior, and we took nice pictures by the water falls.

I am give this hotel a two star review because I m so disappointed in how I was treated. First off, we had requested for adjoining rooms but upon arrival we were given single rooms next to each other. I asked the front desk and they had said they received no call telling them about that.
We had also mentioned that it was my birthday and would like something set up in the room as a welcome message but neither that was done.
The main reason why I am writing this review was because, I had left a pair of my new favorite cargo boots in one of the rooms and was told they were never found. I had called four times before I was finally given that answer and that was because I insisted on staying on the phone and not getting a supposed promised call back.
I m so sad and disappointed that a five star hotel would treat me and friends this way. The rooms were a good size, hence the two stars.

Nice place and location was easy to get to from metro

We were delayed and missed one day of stay with Sofitel. The front desk were very understanding and upgraded us to a wonderful room. Le Bar served great food and beverages. The concierges were very nice and quick to help.

Great location near metro, parks, and mall. Luxurious rooms, although a little dated. Very friendly staff.

Basic services. Serious room issues. For example, we could hear and smell activities in neighboring bathrooms.

My stay at Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square 12/25/14 through 12/27/2014 was adequate, the staff were friendly and attentive, the dinner I ordered through room service was very delicious, I did have to request that the staff make up my room each day and had to request new tows, I had problems staying connected to the hotel Wi-Fi on three different devices but after contacting the front desk was I given a separate passcode to reconnect, on the day of checkout I was charged a second time for the room and had to call the hotel several times to resolve the overcharge and was placed on hold for over twenty minutes without any updates while the auditor reviewed the charges. IF you are visiting the Washington DC area there are many hotel alternatives closer to the National Mall such as Hotel Monaco which is closer to many restraints and the Smithsonian museums.

Easy access, friendly, bit pricey but it us a sofitel

Beautiful hotel in a great location for a short stay in the city; very helpful and professional staff.
Very comfortable and elegant room. The only thing to better manage, in my opinion, the time for breakfast.

We loved the hotel and loved the service from every single person even better!

The hotel was very well maintained and the rooms were very comfortable. Staff was very accommodating in giving our party rooms near one another. My only real complaint is that our shower had horrible water pressure. Additionally one of the waiters in their restaurant was a bit rude. Other than that, we had an excellent stay. (Also, the housekeeping crew member Marlene was amazing; she was so considerate and attentive.)

The hotel was clean and modern which I love. The rooms were of a decent size. The check in staff and concierge were particularly helpful.

Again no complaints about the staff. the choice of the card is limited. The room is very outdated. As every time I am deemed to receive my invoice check out by email and 2 days after always nothing despite my raise

We come to Washington quite frequently for business. We skip around with hotels until now. Love , Love this place. The room and bathroom was just perfect. A lovely corner with lots of windows and light! Check- in was a breeze. The location was icing on the cake! Just perfect for walking to all things DC!! This trip was mixed with business and our anniversary!

Comfortable hotel with good location. A few French speakers on staff. Rooms were stylish and comfortable. Plenty of outlets for electronics and the shower was HEAVENLY. They did make a mistake on my reservation (1 night instead of 2 - I checked and I had made it for 2) but were apologetic, and correct it and honored the price. Zero complaints.

The rooms are nice, the breakfast is delicious especially the salmon bagels, where shopping can still be reached on foot

I arrived at the hotel under the weather with food poisoning...I was weak, tired and just needed to lie down. The person checking us in (forget her mame..beautiful with dark hair and slight accent... We checked in at 4pmish on Sat) was kind, quick, efficient and very thoughtful. She asked if i would love some tea and offered to send it up to our room. She also suggested that we try the onion soup... we arrived in our nicely appointed room. Fifteen minutes later the tea arrived. Room service accommodated an off menu tomatoe soup instead of the onion soup that was tasty and soothing to my stomach. All in all. most people would say that a hotel is the last place they would want to be when sick but if they had the experienced I had at your Sofitel I am sure they would think differently. Thank you, Sofitel... Bravo!!!!

Beautiful hotel, excellent location and service. However, disappointing that the dining room was shut for dinners; iPod dock needs updating to take newer iPhones in the bedroom; we were told about the complimentary coffees in the mornings, but not that they stopped serving at 09:00!

Plenty of amenities and nice restaurant, but not the friendliest staff.

We stayed at the hotel back in May 15 -18 the second day we were there valet called me to let me know that they ran my 2019 Honda Ridgeline into the concrete wall 2000 dollars worth of damage yup they said they would take care of it a month later nothing happened that s right the manager of valet is Ahmed he danced around the issue for 1 month he had all kinds of stories I called the manager of the hotel he said he would look into it he did without any results I have pictures of the truck damage eventually I had to call my insurance company they handled it I did contact Ace parking they are located in San Diego they took care of it as for Ahmed he should be fired for jerking me off and lying the hotel was great to stay at if this ever happens to you call the cops and report it because I didn t everything about the hotel is 5 stars except the lying valet manager Ahmed

I haven't personally stayed here. But it is popular with tourist wanting to have a place to stay that is close to the White House.

You could not find a better location. The rooms are very nice and beds soooo comfortable. We loved to sit on the Le Bar patio and watch the city. The Manager Johana assisted us, she was so friendly and helpful made us feel welcome. She certainly sets the bar for quality customer service. After browsing around the Sofitel website I see so many locations all over the world I would love to stay at.

We had a wonderful honeymoon at this hotel. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was clean and completely updated. The drinks at the bar were delicious. We cant wait to go back!

Excellent service. The staff are professional and elegant. Very accomodating. I had a superior experience here. The standard of service here is no less than impressive. Rooms are clean and location is prime.

Really lovely and luxurious place to stay - walking distance to all the Smithsonian locations.

This is my fav hotel. Stayed with them since the nineties in L.A. and San Fran. The service is always excellent and I'm never disappointed.
