The facility and staff were awesome. Housekeeping left a bit to be desired. We spent four nights. Some days we were left only one washcloth and two hand towels. I had to ask each day for the Keurig to be restocked. One day, are room still had not been made-up by 3:30PM. When I flagged down a housekeeper, who was watching TV in a vacant room, she said they had until 4:30 to make up the room. This caliber hotel requires much better housekeeping.

Amazing service. Stayed here for a week roughly one ~month ago. Was on business/pleasure. Staff was wonderful, housekeeping did a phenomenal job and the location was pretty convenient. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you re looking for a relaxing stay.

The hotel room was nice, a little small since we needed a crib in the room. The room was clean and very comfortable. All of the staff we encountered was more than helpful and kind. Breakfast was exceptional every morning. The stay with this hotel was the highlight of out trip.

Anniversary Night Aug 18- I am extremely surprised on how this hotel has 5stars.
I complained to the front desk during my stay that my towels were stained, had holes and were missing face towels. Also told them the mini bar in my room was half emptied because they didn t restock from previous guest. Also noticed Linen didn t smell fresh, finger nail clippings on rug, stringy hair in shower, empty tissue box in bathroom and crumbs on desk chair! I have never stayed in such a room. VERY DISAPPOINTING

I recently stayed here, we booked three rooms. The hotel over charged me on all three rooms by actually taking the pre approval charge for the first night on credit card and not representing this as a credit on my final invoice. The admin staff never return calls and totally ignore your requests for call backs. So if you want to be over charged and ignored... stay here!

I had high expectations of my stay here. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The attention to detail was lacking. As I arrived a bit early and waited over 2 hours for my room to be ready, I never received a message or call telling me it was ready. Finally I decided to ask, and they acted as if it had been ready all along. When I finally made it to my room, the hand soap was missing, and someone had left the opened pack of Qtips. I called housekeeping and even after an hour, no soap. On the positive note, it was one of the most comfortable bed in any hotel. Very well decorated, and spacious bathroom. I would give them another try.

The hotel is beautiful and rooms are spacious and luxe. Only small downside is there's no coffee in the room. They have it ready in the lobby but I like to enjoy my first cup in my pajamas.

Had breakfast downstairs one morning and it was wonderful. Definitely recommend the breakfast.

After work drinks on the patio was delightful in the 65 degree weather.

Overall - I'll definitely be back. Not only because my boss insists we stay there, but because I like it.

We really liked our time at the hotel while we were there - nice staff, clean room, great location.

However, we left a few things in a drawer of the room. We have called 3 times trying to claim our things, and each time we have been assured that someone would check the room and call us back immediately. Nope. And every time we call back, we are told that there are no notes about our request. I'm sure there are people in the room by now, so who knows. Such a simple request, what a stain on an otherwise very nice stay.

I stayed at the hotel as part of a wedding party. The hotel was accommodating and clean. The closet size, however, left a lot to be desired. For two people with multiple outfits for a wedding weekend, we found it challenging to get our clothes ready before each event. In contrast, we counted about 30 electrical outlets in the room, which I thought was funny. I think guests could do with 15-20 less places to plug in their iPhones in exchange for 2-3 feet more of closet space.

The staff had milk & cookies sent to our room upon arrival; very thoughtful. And our last day the staff sent fresh fruit with the children's name in chocolate on the the plate; very much appreciated. The restaurant food was excellent.
We would definitely stay there again. Great location near the White House.

The concierge has been more than helpful and so friendly. Located close to the White House and the National Mall, you appreciate having a place such as Sofitel to come back to, after a long day of museums and events.
One less positive note, valet parking will cost you $55 per night. There are parking garages nearby, but if you're not familiar with the area, you may want to research prices and availability beforehand.

I don't think we could have found a better hotel (especially for the price). It is located well within walking distance to all the main points of interest. And even better, there is a Metro station a block away. From there you can easily get to the Capitol Building or Arlington National Cemetery in minutes for about $3. We even took the train back to Reagan airport which we wish we would have known about when we arrived.

We only stayed for 2 nights and by the time we checked out many of the staff knew us by name. Not because we were difficult, they were just extremely professional. At night we were greeted by a turn down service (which again for this price I didn't expect).

You wont find a huge swimming pool or other amenities like that...but is that really why you are going to D.C.?

From the moment I was greeted by the doormen, my experience was stellar. Everyone greeted with a smile and was super helpful. The property was impeccable and clean and beautiful. I picked it because of it's convenience and it's known luxury. It did not disappoint!!

It was very pleasant as always. Warmth combined with professionalism and precision. GM doing a great job with her team. A special mention goes to tim and the lady at concierge, Karen , martha, the Jamaican girl in le bar and also Rashid.

My wife and I spent 5 nights during 4th of July. Wait staff in restaurant was average at best. Had to ask for bread, slow, food very pricey with small portions. Trying to be high class, poor job. We were 1 of 3 couples in restaurant. No room service menu, took an hour to get one.No view, no pool. Conciere lacked knowledge.Location was best positive!

Average hotel in DC. Walking distance to The Mall and the convention center. The staff was friendly, but is there really a need to greet guests by saying "Bon Jour?" The room was an interior room so not a lot of street noise just some trucks beeping in the very early morning. There is a wall thermostat you can easily adjust. Fortunately our neighbors were quiet in the evening because you could hear them clearly through the walls during the day. The thing I hated the most was no bed sheet under the duvet. Also, the sole bathrobe was right next to the toilet, and there were no slippers. The room also had a broken light and house keeping could have cleaned around the base of the bed better. They have a Keurig coffee maker, and a mini-bar. They asked at check-in if we wanted to upgrade for a fee, but chose not to do so. Other hotels upgrade you for free? But I don't know, if you had to be part of their reward program for them to do that.

We didn't park at the hotel because it was expensive, and we didn't eat there either. There's lost of places nearby to grab a bite. Breakfast was also expensive, if you didn't have it bundled with your room rate.

On another note-- we booked through Expedia, and we had to change the reservation. Expedia doesn't allow you to change a reservation. They will cancel the reservation, and hopefully, you can re-book. Luckily the hotel still had rooms with the same rate. (Whew!)

Overall, good experience. Very friendly and attentive staff. Minor issue - the internet would not connect on my laptop. No single option was available. I couldn't purchase better internet. So, I could only work from my phone. Minor hiccup.

I loved this hotel. Loved the multi lingual staff, which gives me a chance to use French. Bar and restaurant were more than good. Attentive service and decent offerings.

I had a cheese and meat plate at the bar, which was fantastic (needed more crackers) and breakfast at the restaurant was more than serviceable. Several power breakfast goers around too.

Rooms were spacious and comfortable, altho layout (as sometimes is in hotels) was a bit weird - the private bath of the room was down a hall with windows open to the street and opposite tower.

Stayed for sightseeing in Washington 2 years ago. Greetings are Bonjour, facilities and services, meals are generally satisfied. A restaurant waiter from Morocco enjoyed a detailed conversation about Japanese manga. I want to use it again

The entire staff was gracious and professional. I felt like I was staying in a high end hotel and I was treated with that level of care. I will definitely be staying with Sofitel again soon. So impressed with the staff from the valet, doorman, concierge to the maid offering to turn down my bed. Well worth the higher price to stay. Coming back to the hotel after a day out in DC I felt welcomed and my stay was appreciated. Best service I hv had at a hotel in years.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. The bed was comfy, room was a good size with lots of windows, nice smart TV, and a large bathroom with nice products. Some things I was disappointed in, there was only 1 towel in the bathroom so we had to call and wait for 30 min for another, there was NO fitted sheet on the bed so if you lay on the top sheet and it moves slightly you are touching a dirty mattress (we could see hairs on the bare mattress pad). I have never seen a bed without a bottom sheet, let alone at a 5 star hotel. Overall, good hotel that is priced lower than other 5 stars in DC but it does not go the extra mile to distinguish it from a 4 star.

I cannot point to one thing that would have made the weekend better. Outstanding service and care/concern for their patrons. So many little "extras". I got a Hotwire deal for my husband for his Birthday and they made it such a special weekend for him.

The hotel is still very good, but the quality in the Sofitel chain has been falling in recent years. For example, this time we were informed, on 3 consecutive days of the stay, that we would need to wait about 25 minutes to have a table for the breakfast, previously paid. The bathroom door creaks, the mattress has a sinking, minor problems in detail that in the past were not observed in a Sofitel.
