We ve stayed at the Sofitel almost every time we visited Mauritius with the exception of this year 2018 due to renovations. Many of the staff recognize and we feel they are genuinely pleased to see us back. We are well taken care of. The rooms are always clean and comfortable but need to be updated. Our only criticism is we prefer firmer mattresses. The gardens are wonderful, well maintained and relaxing to stroll around. We recommend Sofitel to everyone we know who is going to Mauritius. We are looking to our next trip to Mauritius in 2019 and stay once again if we can afford it.

In general everything is like the photo; the welcome on arrival, the kindness and availability of staff, services ..... ect for that I give 5/5 the best possible rating! But on the other hand if you hope to play on the purchasing power, it is missed, everything is at the price of Europeans only translated into rupees but fresh products (seafood, fruit).
But beware! The country has an agreement with China, so the preserves or jars like jam are made in China!
the rooms are old, cleaning not so satisfactory for a 5 star hotel, it is not so surprising when I see how it is equipped with cleaning products and the cleaning lady.
Otherwise, a great hotel with great staff !!!

very good experience in your hotel

very good experience in your hotel
very professional staff, I had a pleasant stay, very nice hotel

disappointed with the wait during departure, lack of information for the time when you have to return the room you have to go to reception 50 times to get information, return the room at 2 p.m. our flight is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. found to wait in the hotel for the taxi until 7:30 p.m. without having a space to be able to rest a little more intimate, nor a cocktail for our departure and thanking us, no one to take care of us during this time, a service for the departure would be a plus for the customers (example a person who welcomes us and a thank you for the stay at the hotel accompanied by a cocktail as on arrival would be a big plus to keep a more than positive image of our stay ,

bottled water for a fee with half board during the evening meal I find that very very disappointing, I hope these details are taken into account for a perfect experience to achieve 5 stars

Great place for vacation in Mautitius. Friendly and warm staff serving always with a smile. For indian food they have a dedicated chef Raj who cooked wonderful indian dishes and even made special Jain good for my mother. The thanks to him we enjoyed every day of stay. The package of dinner included in the package made it even more exciting.

Hotel also has inhouse boat house and you can book dolphin seeing tours right there in hotel. Boat house also has free rises of Glass bottom boats and peddle boats which makes it very enjoyable. Nice swimming pool and sauna and steambath makes it all conplete. I shall recommend it all who are going to Mauritius with their families.

Smiling staff, available when needed. Catering of very good quality, varied and fresh. Spacious room and very comfortable bed. Large pool and sandy and clean beach. Daily activity beach and pool. Evening musical entertainment at the bar. Can be improved: the stewardship of the rooms.

I spent 3 nights solo at this hotel in August 2018. A Luxury room with half board.

First of all, a magnificent place. The most beautiful beach on the island at your feet and under your terrace. The garden space is sumptuous and the layout of the place is simply idyllic. When you arrive, a huge hall awaits you. Zen atmosphere with soft music and diffused scents. The blue swimming pool is wide open before your eyes. Impeccable welcome: kindness and smile. The recording is done around a refreshment, seated in soft sofas. Every detail is dealt with immediately. The customer service manager himself takes care of my little wifi connection problem on my laptop. The pleasure of a truly 5-star service.

The Luxury room, on the 2nd floor, with an unobstructed view of the beach, which makes the difference with the lower category, is simply magnificent. Large, well furnished, with the possibility of fully opening the bathroom to the bedroom. Shower and tub. All the little extras: courtesy bottles of water, small chocolates, ...

The services are also up to par: several restaurants, many bars with generous menu, swimming pool, spa, activities offered.

Why then, not to have given a 5 star review? Because the Sofitel, although very well maintained, shows a little the weight of the years. Furniture starting to date, signs of wear visible, although not invasive. The neighboring hotel, accessible without restriction by the beach, marks its difference quite strongly. This one having been renovated recently. I have always preferred the Sofitel for that little French extra. But for once, our Anglo-Saxon friends mark the point in Flic en Flac.

A very positive result anyway. I do not put excellence for the reasons mentioned, but it is largely deserved for the welcome and kindness of a staff largely up to the task.

Came for breakfast, we found the chairs dirty, a "canteen" atmosphere and the variety of dishes not at the level of the number of stars. In short, we were disappointed.
The view is nice on the pool and the beach. Well received.

I do not understand the reviews on this hotel in any way. I've slept in a couple of Sofitel chains, but none of these hotels were as run down as this one. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with a 5 star hotel.
The beach chairs and the cushions on the beach were very worn and broken. These could have been exchanged for new ones for the overall picture. The four-poster beds were also very shabby. Sporadically knotted curtains, the sky was simply missing for some. They didn't bother to create a great appearance there. The beach should also be kept clean, but beer bottles from the previous evening were still on the beach the next morning at 10/11. Not a good job from the staff. The staff seemed friendly but never really happy. Nobody seemed to enjoy my work. That was a shame. The hotel room, for example, was very large, reasonably clean on the first day, but also very shabby here. There were pictures on the wall, which had already faded so badly. You could just swap all the pictures and it would look a lot friendlier. The shower wasn't cleaned properly once in the two weeks. The fittings were always stained. Only the shampoos and the soap were refilled as soon as you saw that there was none left. Next thing that bothered me beyond belief. Sofitel pays attention to environmental protection but does housekeeping change towels once at noon and then again in the evening? How so? For 4 towels that have not been exchanged, a tree will be planted. So why change towels so often when you care so much about the environment? I do not get it. The food was on the whole okay. But really only okay. What I liked is that there were really alternating theme evenings in the two weeks and that nothing was repeated too much. The meat was not particularly good to eat, the fish stank badly and wasn't really good either. A complaint about a constant sound on the beach, which was caused by a broken ventilation system at the hotel, was investigated and repaired. Nevertheless, up to this day we had to struggle with a constantly annoying sound on the beach for 8 days. There can be no question of "relaxing". In addition, I would have expected the hotel to apologize in some way, but this has not yet happened. The hardship was the check out. I understand if you get another room because, for example, all rooms are occupied and your own room is also being occupied. In general, I think it's great to simply have the option to shower if you are picked up late. The shower in the "lounge" was in the area of the public toilets by the pool. It was incredibly disgusting. It smelled like a train station toilet. It was really an imposition. Why not pack a shower in the locked area of the lounge and make sure that it is kept clean? Incredibly abnormal. A real shame. The only good thing about the hotel, I think, was the evening accompaniment with live music. There were really great artists there. It's a shame it's just the only point I can highlight well. Half a point left for the employees who always tried hard, but didn't seem particularly happy either.

Bad Services

Room services are bad

They put drinking water in the first night only (only 2 bottles). Then we have to buy

Some of the nights do not have variety in the food at their buffet restaurant. They do not have corner for the kids food at all

Their staff at beach bar having very bad services. They are not respoding to us if we call them and most of the times ignoring their guests

I had lunch at the room and had food poisoning which result in going to hospital. When i told hotel Management about the food and even submit the Medical report to him, the Manager was defending on the hotel and he was careless on his guests and reject my request to not pay for the food. He offered me only discount in some of the water bottles i ordered at room whih is Rs 400 ++. Shame.....

Very good evening buffet. Teppanyaki (Japanese cooked in front of plate) to try, as well as Chinese outside at night (great view). Good service. ++ for location (beach view / near bus station), swimming pool, water club included (pedalo, boat trip, kayak), fitness included and spa (extra charge). Indeed, it is an establishment needing a refreshing room infra (aging decor, water tap shower, wrist door, bathtub).

Luxury and comfort, en francais...

Luxury and comfort, en francais...

The Sofitel line of hotels bear a tradition for high-end hospitality. Well, high-end for me, anyways.

The rooms are very spacious and generous, with well lit bathrooms (important for the lady) and a separate toilet. The beds are extremely comfy, almost a bit *too* soft for my liking. The rooms are well maintained, always clean and refreshed regularly.

Naturally, there is air-conditioning, room-safes, hair-dryer, etc.

The L'Imperial comes with a wide variety of offered pastimes, sports, games and gym. There is a spa offering all kinds of wonderful creature-comforts. The massages are divine...

Staff is exceptioinally friendly and attentive, dedicated to fulfilling pretty much any desire a guest could have - within reason.

The beach is lovely, well tended and with lots of opportunity fro refuge from the blazing sun. There are stand-up-paddling boards, surf-boards, even three sailing dinghies.

Despite the harsh climate, everything possible is being done to maintain the high standards and the function of all the amenities.

The place is sublime. The location of the Sofitel is idyllic. The setting is sumptuous and it is the hotel whose architecture is most adapted to this environment. The furniture is a little aging. However we are far from 5 star services. 8 years ago the service was really up to par today youth is in the spotlight but not the service! Staying there remains magical however.
