I do not understand the reviews on this hotel in any way. I've slept in a couple of Sofitel chains, but none of these hotels were as run down as this one. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with a 5 star hotel.
The beach chairs and the cushions on the beach were very worn and broken. These could have been exchanged for new ones for the overall picture. The four-poster beds were also very shabby. Sporadically knotted curtains, the sky was simply missing for some. They didn't bother to create a great appearance there. The beach should also be kept clean, but beer bottles from the previous evening were still on the beach the next morning at 10/11. Not a good job from the staff. The staff seemed friendly but never really happy. Nobody seemed to enjoy my work. That was a shame. The hotel room, for example, was very large, reasonably clean on the first day, but also very shabby here. There were pictures on the wall, which had already faded so badly. You could just swap all the pictures and it would look a lot friendlier. The shower wasn't cleaned properly once in the two weeks. The fittings were always stained. Only the shampoos and the soap were refilled as soon as you saw that there was none left. Next thing that bothered me beyond belief. Sofitel pays attention to environmental protection but does housekeeping change towels once at noon and then again in the evening? How so? For 4 towels that have not been exchanged, a tree will be planted. So why change towels so often when you care so much about the environment? I do not get it. The food was on the whole okay. But really only okay. What I liked is that there were really alternating theme evenings in the two weeks and that nothing was repeated too much. The meat was not particularly good to eat, the fish stank badly and wasn't really good either. A complaint about a constant sound on the beach, which was caused by a broken ventilation system at the hotel, was investigated and repaired. Nevertheless, up to this day we had to struggle with a constantly annoying sound on the beach for 8 days. There can be no question of "relaxing". In addition, I would have expected the hotel to apologize in some way, but this has not yet happened. The hardship was the check out. I understand if you get another room because, for example, all rooms are occupied and your own room is also being occupied. In general, I think it's great to simply have the option to shower if you are picked up late. The shower in the "lounge" was in the area of the public toilets by the pool. It was incredibly disgusting. It smelled like a train station toilet. It was really an imposition. Why not pack a shower in the locked area of the lounge and make sure that it is kept clean? Incredibly abnormal. A real shame. The only good thing about the hotel, I think, was the evening accompaniment with live music. There were really great artists there. It's a shame it's just the only point I can highlight well. Half a point left for the employees who always tried hard, but didn't seem particularly happy either.
