Room need to be updated and improve, old floor and chairs. Bed mattress is not comfortable. Water on the shower is either hot or cold there is nothing in he middle. Each day the housekeeping is forgetting to replace the bath towels, then I chase them for couple of hours to get me a new one. After that asked the reception help on that.
WiFi is poor and weak. Some of the front disk staff are missing the smile.

However, the food here is really delicious and good. Dinner is very good and has multiple items to chose of and each night there is a special food cuisine.
Breakfast also was good with variety of food but they don t have fresh jams.

Beach is clean and wonderful for swimming and relaxing. Other activities like volleyball, football & tennis are available as well, in addition to the water activities.

Gym is nice and clean with beautiful view over the lake.

Beginning of an execrable stay. After 2 days, we decided to leave this hotel which is very far from the standards of sofitels in the world. Dusty rooms, no soundproofing, worn and noisy bed, sinister atmosphere at the buffet restaurant, friendly but inneficacious staff, incompetent front office manager, in short this Sofitel to avoid here

- Beach: Not enough sunbeds. It's all well and good that they are free and that towels are given for free, but it's not enough in the back and front. Furthermore, it is completely incomprehensible that the coconuts of the palm trees are not chopped off. All the spots under palm trees are therefore gone, unless you run the risk of being killed.

- Rooms: Many reviews point to a renovation backlog. We can basically agree to this for the whole hotel, even if we probably got one of the better rooms. Only the shower and bathtub looked worn and mold in the door frame of the toilet in the corner, otherwise it was okay actually. The beds are good. Sufficient hot water available. You can go out on Zanzibar or the Maldives. Room service twice a day friendlier than the rest of the staff and good. The hotel complex itself is pretty, but public corridors are often dirty.

- Food: One of the reasons why we booked the Sofitel were the positive reviews of the food. That's why we booked full board. Unfortunately, the food is only convincing in places. Breakfast is as good as excluded from this, which corresponds to the 5 star standard. You miss a maximum of more sausages and one or the other really exotic fruit such as jackfruit, otherwise everything from cold to warm dishes is available and of excellent quality. Well, my partner would have liked to see smoked salmon, but the smoked marlin makes up for that.
Lunch is mostly good, but it doesn't offer much. Dishes that cost extra, apart from the king prawns, disappointed. I've tried them all.
Then for dinner ... theme-related buffet 50% bad and 50% felt good. Here, too, little is daring. The only buffet that I put the 5 star stamp on was the seafood buffet. The rest are mixed. You can always find a few very good dishes, but I'm used to better dishes from other hotels. Pasta Corner still delivers the best results. Also a compliment to the young cook and to the old lady who makes the pancakes in the morning. The two beams at least look like a buck.
However, I found the A La Card restaurants to be disastrous. The Chinese Ming Court serves canned mushrooms and bamboo, overwhelms the taste at most in its boring and impresses at the maximum in the variety of extra costly dishes, which are usually not worth the extra charge, as in the beach restaurant at lunchtime. The seafood soup was completely next to it. In fairness I have to say that my daughter's chop was good.
The Japanese teppanyaki restaurant is expensive, but truly "imperial" in culinary terms. The only one with an extra charge (approx. 80 ), which I don't completely regret. Praise to the master and his show. The beach restaurant offered a lobster evening in 5 courses for a similar price on another day, but it was okay.
Drinks are paid extra, as in most hotels in Mauritius, which is not only annoying but also in terms of price beyond good and bad. Even water. By the way, the bars with their expensive cocktails are a disaster. The Mango Daiquiri was still good, but Frozen Melon Caipi and Long Island Ice Tea were good for the drain. Since you like to pay the 30 on top .....
The gourmet restaurant Jacaranda is clear but gourmet ... well ...
I would like to praise desserts in general, they were all good to excellent. This even applies to a lot at the buffet, in this regard one performs above other hotels.
I would like to explicitly emphasize that full board is NOW worth it. Even in the evening you pay the same surcharges as with half board. Ridiculous. And then don't even have a free choice at lunchtime.

Service: Lots of bored faces in the restaurants. Nobody asks whether it was tasty, whether there was criticism. Not at the buffet, not in the a la card restaurants. Room service as described above was the friendliest, followed by reception.

We stayed here on a delayed Honeymoon back in March 2016. I still remember Kaushal and Tina being tremendously helpful and accommodating. Kaushal surprised us on our last night with a decorated table for our final meal there - was very special for us. Our stay was beautiful, highly recommend this place, service was amazing, choice in food was great, views are spectacular - especially those sunsets! One very minor point, there was a movie night with popcorn and ice cream advertised as part of the event, however after asking for a small portion of popcorn - we were then charged for it!! There was no indication these were priced extras so was bit taken back on that. My own fault for not checking, other than that lovely place .

Rooms are nice and spacious but lack of wifi made it difficult to stay there a whole week. Not a hotel that caters for business people. Bfast is repetitive and not creative. Pool and beach area are beautiful. I was surprised you ask guests to wear trousers at night. It's the beach.

We have been received in a friendly and professional manner. The room corresponded to the description and the booking. The service, the staff, was extremely professional and unobtrusive. All rooms were very clean. The room was spacious and well cut. Only the toilet would have liked to be 20cm longer. In a few places, you can see that the hotel is not a new building. That is marginal. The condition of the hotel can be described as impeccable.
The kitchen for the buffet restaurant has earned the top grade. Changing lush selection for every taste. This applies to the warm dishes, the salads, the fruit and the desserts. Few international (standardized) dishes. But a variety of tastes from the island, which offers several kitchens and partially united.
Spacious and always clean pool. Various restaurants and bars. Comfortable and various and sufficient beach furniture. Extensive leisure and spa offer. Free use of canoes and snorkeling trips by boat. Very good offer for doping-watching. Connected taching school.

Very good address, sublime swimming pool, well-maintained beach and park.
Very good bedding and plenty of breakfast.
Impeccable WiFi connection
Piano and small musical group in the evening.
In short, rest and well-being.
I recommend this address which will bring us back to Mauritius.

The service and room facilities are not up to the expectations of a first class hotel. Already on arrival the reception was overwhelmed, that guests come. At the check-out one was referred to the counter for the car rental.

The rooms are spacious but totally worn. The last renovation was ten years ago.

Five-star level, the prices of the minibar: can beer 0.33 cl EUR about 4.80!

Good are breakfast and dinner at half board. Also recommended, as there are no other options in the area.

Disadvantage: Beach is cleaned only once a day.

In summary: price for the hotel is absolutely overpriced. Many 4-star hotels have a much better standard.

Very nice hotel on one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. The garden is also very nice. Hotel staff always friendly and accommodating. So far, we have only used one of the four restaurants, but were always very satisfied.

Very nice hotel but aging, the A / Cs are noisy and the rooms are full of cracks.
The gardens are pleasant and a little walk after dinner is in order.
The restaurants are of a good standard too, although there is a decline in the general quality.

The staff, however, are lovely and very welcoming.

A beautiful holiday, beautiful country, nice people and a wonderful hotel, including grounds. The small flaws in the house can be overlooked, especially since 2018 should be completely renovated. I am looking forward to my next stay.

The worst hotel I have ever been at! Everything is super old, dirty, and low maintained! The 3 nights we stayed there were horrible - Ants in the bedroom, mold in the bathroom, bad smell in the room, old and dirty furnitures, dirty dining room full of birds. This is the best tip I can give you - DON'T BOOK IT! I should get my money back.

Disgusting booking and customer service, after ringing to confirm for a day pass over 3 days and then proceeding to book. We've had to waste yet another day booking. My partner and I also have discriminatory prices. Don't bother, not worth the stars.

First visit in 1998 (honeymoon), second 2 years ago now with our daughter, (late notice certainly ... but relies on another site of opinion deleted by me).
Hotel full of charm in its architecture and its gardens, extraordinary staff, excellent restoration in all its whole.
Mauritius is a beautiful place with what is its main charm: Mauritians. They are charming people, the staff of the Sofitel is therefore a reflection.
Thank you all and see you soon.

The first impression is good when you walk into the hotel. The hotel and the rooms are getting old and a renovation is overdue, especially with the rooms.
In general, the service is very bad. The service staff in the restaurants / bars is friendly and nice, but uncoordinated, terribly slow, you have to repeat everything 3, 4, 5 times, orders are forgotten, drinks come when you are almost finished with food, etc. Everything is great dragging and laborious. For the whole 18 days we wondered what the hotel deserves to be called luxury.
In view of the fact that the extra costs for drinks or snacks are very high and that we also paid such a high price, no word was asked at check-out whether we liked it and everything was to our satisfaction and no thanks or good luck Travel home pronounced, just nothing!
As a beach boy told us in the familiar on the last day, the hotel works more and more with untrained staff and pays correspondingly low wages! You noticed that!
The housekeeping team was very nice and ok. The rooms were clean, but not great if you looked closer. Sometimes the towels were forgotten to hang up, then the water glasses were not exchanged or only one was put down instead of two. In a 5 star luxury hotel and at this price you would expect a small Nespresso machine in the room, especially since Nespresso is also available in Mauritius. In the meantime, Nespresso machines are everywhere in the well-known hotel chains, so it's already standard.
The spa area was great!

My wife and I stayed for a week at the Sofitel in Flic-en-Flac.
Here is our opinion:
- Staff: perfect, all kind and dedicated
- hotel: very pleasant, not too big, we have space and even when the hotel is full (85%), we don't step on each other at all. (many more deckchairs than people)
- bedroom: bedroom with balcony and sea view, very pleasant, clean, excellent quality bedding, ultra quiet, ...
- services: we took advantage of the free activities (pedalo, skiing, water sports, snorkeling ...) and the ride with the dolphins. The team for activities is GREAT, ultra available and do everything to satisfy us
- catering: PERFECT breakfast, for lunch, nice catering at the swimming pool, For the evening, however, a little disappointed ... You have the choice between the buffet (good but it is not worth 45 eur) or the restaurant of the beach (not tasted but small menu) or the Asian restaurant (either Japanese cuisine or Chinese cuisine) that we tested on several occasions and greatly appreciated. We regret, however, an additional restaurant with brasserie type cuisine at a more affordable price than the buffet.

In summary, a wonderful week, thank you to the whole team

Disgusting booking and customer service, after ringing to confirm for a day pass in advance and then proceeding to book on marideal.mu. but been told our confirmed place is gone!! How disappointing! We've had to waste 3 days on booking this and now it has ruined our whole plan for the week. My partner and I also have discriminatory prices. Apparently as a tourist you have to pay 1000 more than local Mauritian. Don't even bother, not worth the stars.

It is our wedding trip and the first time in Mauritius ... we are very satisfied .... around in everything. You can only recommend it and we will be back. The staff is super friendly, courteous, helpful and professional in their work. You feel very well and can relax very well. The food is so delicious and all fresh. Every night a different band you
Entertains in the hotel bar. Everything very Hamonian ... just perfect. Apart from the little things written in the other reviews ... like the towels and the birds eating. Although the birds fly through the area but do not disturb anyone. They do not even come to the table while you're sitting there. And the towels are not the newest ... but you can really see over it ... if you are aware of where you are. There I find the hygiene and everything else much more important. This is perfect in our view ... kudos to all the staff of the hotel ... we have never met so deep relaxed people like you. We are very satisfied and thankful for this wonderful time with you. Greetings from family Schwartz from Germany
