I had a great early dinner before show @ Ahmanson theater- it's within walking distance. Park @ the Ahmanson even w/ the validation from the Shoreham Hotel- the Ahmanson is cheaper.

Food was v. good and service was excellent and had a bit of a view.

I'd go back.

Rooms were mostly quiet and offered room temperature controls. The shower was incredible with both above and side jets. Housekeeping was attentive and friendly, host/hostess staff were as well. Planning on staying there again!

Great location close to everything you want to be around if you're a tourist. Only two block away from central park and very close to 5th Avenue. Room is tidy by quite compact. Rooms also starting to look a bit dated. Window out to a concrete wall. Service overall very good for what we needed. Lifts system is bit confusing but not impossible to use.

Meh. Nice location. But bathroom was tiny, hvac system was a bit wonky(had to push qorn a way buttons with a ball point pen). Good if you just plan on dropping your stuff and hitting the city. My room smelled slightly like pee.

The room was clean and comfortable. Smelled like bleach when we checked in, so we had to run a fan for an hour to get the stench out. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We could not hear our neighbors, so sound insulation inside is good, but I could hear a lot of city noise from the outside. But then, we live in a quiet area and maybe we are just not used to loud city noise. It would have been great to have a coffee maker in the room. This is the first hotel I have been in, that does not have a coffee maker. There were also no complementary hot water or coffee in the lobby that most hotels we have stayed at now offer. Free WiFi in the lobby, but the lobby is tiny, so it always appeared overcrowded. Overall good experience, and we would use this hotel again.

The staff was excellent. The room could use some TLC. There was a broken light switch, broken tiles on the bathroom wall, an electrical receptacle nearly hanging out the wall. Could use a little updating. I feel you get what you pay for so with that said we were happy with our stay and would stay at Shoreham again

Hotel very well located in Manhattan, 5 minutes walk from Central Park and just 10 minutes from Times Square. As for the staff, he is competent, helpful, smiling. The room is fine, the bedding is very comfortable and the bathroom is very big.

Online it said hotel room sleeps 4, but there was a king bed and the sofa bed is a twin. They insisted 2 people can sleep on the twin, but then did bring us a rollaway, thus 3 instead of 2 stars.
Got home late to realize there were no sheets, blankets or pillows for the pullout beds in the room, like most hotels and we had to wait for delivery...very annoying.
The tub filled up with water b/c it was clogged. Both phones in the room were broken.
Not up to par with a 4 star hotel at all more like 3.

Came in for one night, check in was really great (hence the 2 stars), I was given a room right behind the elevators (409) and right over the exterior fans. I thought the A/C was loud, so I turned it off, but those fans outside sounded like the A/C in the room was on full power. TV was blurry, I called down, they sent someone up that basically told me that the signal was weak and there was nothing they could do. Remember that the room was right behind the elevators? So every time the elevator went past the room there was a single knock. The first time I thought it was the door, but it was the elevator. Room doesn't have a full length mirror, just the elevated bathroom one. Lastly, on check out I was waiting for the lady to ask me how my stay was, nothing. Just thank you for staying with us. In short, I'll never be staying here again (I do 100+ nights a year in NYC)

Jeremy,

Jeremy,

Thank you for having such kind customer service skills over the phone! Answered all my questions warmly.

The location is perfect.

The location is perfect.
I was able to leave my luggage and go sightseeing before check-in.
The bathroom was spacious, but the floor is marble? So my legs were cold even in the summer. The room I stayed in was very small, but there was a wood terrace so I could take pictures with Manhattan as a pack.

It seems that I was able to drink espresso freely, but there was no guidance at check-in.

Negative: On my week there the tv control didn't work, phone didn't sound good, the coffee machine broke, and the access cards failed a bunch of times.
Positive: excellent location, spacious rooms and bathrooms, comfortable bed, good coffee machine, and nearby restaurants.

Location wise, it's great. Room was clean and considerably comfortable. Also, quiet and bathroom was spacious. The downsides were the heater wasn't working, and there was no free in room WiFi. Paid $14 for WiFi and it didn't work as well. So, if you need internet and don't mind sitting in the lobby for their complimentary WiFi, you might want to reconsider other hotels. I wish I could ask for a refund for the WiFi.

Hotel is nice. Very small rooms but functional. Of course, the furniture is no longer new.
The bed is good and the bathroom very clean. Fresh towels every day (but also left a tip for the maid every day).

Customer service is very cordial.

Customer service is very cordial.
Rooms not completely equipped with small fridge; desk; shelves for clothes but if you ask they bring them. It will all depend in the type of room you book.

This is the strange hotel.

This is the strange hotel.
Near central park.
But without freeze, microwave, coffee/tea and free wifi (high price!).
Our conditioner worked when it wanted, only one time in hour in 10 minutes for warm.
Without breakfast!
We could not open windows.
Room was clear and big, price was very cheap. Friendly stuff.
Strange man opened or didn't open a door of hotel)

Spacious, clean rooms and great location, but a lot of silly things were off. The shower is so powerful that it flooded my bathroom and with no drain, I had to sacrifice my towels to clean it up. Elevator goes up when you request it to go down. Signage to rooms is poor; I had to return to the lobby to tell them my room didn't exist, only to find I was in the wrong half of the building. Even check-in was difficult. I was told I didn't exist in their system, and after a lot of confusion the lady goes, 'Oh check IN, I thought you were checking out.' My room also faced a concrete wall with great views of a garbage ridden alley.

The +:

The +:
The location: on the 55th, close to Central Park, Times Square and Broadway.
The pleasant and attentive staff.

The - :
You should not really expect a 4 star: the rooms are small, the air conditioning / heating makes a lot of noise, no one accompanies you to your room / carries your suitcases on arrival, there is no fridge in the rooms, a few tasks here and there, the view is directly opposite another building, wifi at $ 15 / day ...
Also, no lock on the bathroom door (this could be a detail for some, but when you go as a couple, have to announce the number 2 to be sure not to be disturbed (e). ) is a bit killer).

Please note this hotel is very correct, hence the 3 out of 5 stars, it is not worth a 4 star if not for the location it offers.

Shoreham hotel has been a great experience so far. It is centrally located with central park just a couple blocks north. The front desk personnel are so nice and helpful, especially Dany who helped us check in. We got upgraded to a penthouse room which was a good sized room for two people. The room included a large balcony overlooking the essex house and much more!

The Shoreham Hotel in New York city has housekeeping staff that steals from guest luggage. Do not stay here under any circumstances. The housekeeping staff went through our luggage and stole purchases we made in New York City in July 2017. I told the managers about the incident and they took no responsibility at all, and accused us of inventing our victimization. The hotel rooms do not resemble the hotel website photos either. This is not a nice hotel. Refusing to make any amends to us as guests whose personal belongings were stolen by staff says a lot about the lack of integrity in this establishment. Stay away.

Nice hotel with clean rooms, although small. The hotel has a modern chic vibe to it which is cool. Great location, only about a ten minute walk to Times Square. Go around the corner and eat at Connelly s Pub-great food and drinks!

This place is gross. The lobby smells like cigarettes and there was a roach crawling in our bedroom this morning. I ve stayed at many hotels around the world and I ve gotta say that is a FIRST for me. 0/10 WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.

Pros: Top location not far from Central Park, the Metro, 5th Avenue and and and ... Very friendly and helpful staff and properly equipped rooms, plus a well-functioning wifi.

Negative: equipment a bit older, little lounge outside the room.

In the end, you simply have to include the price in the evaluation. If you get the stay around $ 100 / room the night for me it tends towards 5 * in terms of value for money. At $ 150-200, that's more like 3 *, which is still "ok".

Location is perfect! Overpriced and small rooms. I also had mixed interactions with the staff between very helpful and fairly rude. They did offer baggage storage when we first arrived until our room was ready which was helpful.

Friendly staff. Good sized room, but definitely needs refurbishing - dated, stain and in some disrepair. VERY dark. The bathroom was the size of an airplane bathroom plus a shower. Not sure how a larger/taller person would even fit.

This is not a 4 star hotel!. Rooms are big but very outdated. Carpet is very old. Walls are covered with some kind of cloth which looked very old too. Bathroom was big , had both tub and shower, but was somewhat worn out too.
All night we could hear someone's else AC unit and pipes. Bed was big, but had some kind of "plastic" cover under sheets. WiFi is for a fee (free in the lobby). Staff was nice. But it was cheaper then other 4star hotels.

The transaction, the check in and out was uncomplicated and went quickly. The room was very small, probably normal for New York standards. Unfortunately, the pictures on the Internet and of which we have been inspired do not agree. The room was rather dated and the bathroom was not clean. From fingernails to hair from previous visitors everything stuck in the bathroom in the shower on the tiles. There was also very little space for the clothes, the safe would have to be booked extra for a lot of extra money and Wi-Fi is only available for a surcharge. For the money the hotel has cost for 1 week, I would have expected such trifles as included. Of course, New York is a very expensive place, but you can expect a certain standard in the price range.

Well maintained hotel with small but sufficient rooms to sleep comfortably and peacefully. Very well located, it is on the 55th close to everything: Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Times Square for example and in the street are several cafes bars and restaurants ...
For small appetites or small thirsts, a restaurant and a bar are inside the hotel. The breakfast in one of the formulas is copious, ideal to take the energy of the day.
The service was excellent even in front of demanding customers. The team taking care of the hotel remained pleasant and smiling. We don't remember everyone but mostly sympathized with Tamel, Ula and Vlad ... Thanks to them for a short but great stay.
Thanks a lot guys for the short but amazing stay.
PS: I agree with some comments for the rooms that lack some repairs (table support foam to be changed, turn of the screw on a towel holder ...).
However, the hotel is far from run down and is well equipped.

It's a great location, close to madison Avenue and lots of restaurants to choose but the hotel rooms not so well maintained but if you need a place to crash at low prices then check this out

This hotel is bare and outdated. Lobby is modern, which makes it misleading when you enter the room. They offered a hard futon as their sleeper sofa. Bathroom is very small- especially considering the size of the suite. Noisy street. Polite and accommodating staff.

Frankly aside from the fact that the hotel is in a good location because next to lots of sites and bedding, I don't know if you can speak of a 4 star. Otherwise the staff are pleasant to listen to. We had WiFi problem in the room which was not resolved until our departure, but it did not matter too much because we did not stay in the room.

Quiet room in the back. Very small, however. There wasn't even room to put the chair at the desk. To My bathroom, but a good sized shower. I would stay here again, though...just not with anyone else, can't imagine 2 people in the room.

Anthony at the front desk is the nicest person in all of Manhattan. The room was quaint, but just what we needed for a two night stay during a business trip. Everything was clean, but they lose a star for the bed which was large enough, but shared blow-up mattress characteristics. The shower was great, which made the lack of amenities ok. Regardless of the negatives, great price for location.
