Lunch at the Mai Tai bar is always excellent. Bartender Jona is super fun and engaging. He always remembers our order. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for.

We are staying here currently for our honeymoon. The resort is beautiful...great pool, amazing ocean views. Staff has been extremely friendly and helpful. My only complaint is I wish the pool and hot tub had some sort of guest only access whether it s with a room key or wrist band. It s not inexpensive to stay here plus we pay a resort fee to enjoy these amenities and it frustrating when you want to enjoy some time in the hot tub and there s a family of 7 in there openly talking about how they are staying off the resort. Again, I m not sure how this works...if this is a type of thing that happens...it just seems some of the other resorts nearby have a more private pool area.
Great experience. Staied there just 1 night but it was wholesome.
Staff was incredibly friendly! I don't think we passed a single employee that didn't greet us with a smile, including housekeeping staff. We had a 'partial' ocean view which was basically an ocean view room. I don't typically like swimming pools, but this one was pretty nice. Food/drinks at the Black Rock Grill were good. If you can, get downtown Whalers Village and visit Island Vintage Coffee. Amazing coffee and really good food (acai bowls, sausage and egg taro bagel) and the prices are better than at the hotel. It's close enough to walk to.
Food was better than I expected and the show was entertaining.
I don't stay here, but always stop in on my beach walks at the outdoor bar! The dynamic duo of Jason and Joana are always great as well as the rest of the staff....love it.
Went here for the couple's spa treatment. The spa is nice and relaxing. Massage was great.
It's a little old but still kept very nice. Watch out for the giant corporate events that usually go along with giant hotels. T-Mobile was staging a takeover of the place while we were there.
Hotel with a lot of charm and if you go to Maui an excellent choice. For me it is among the best in the area but not the best. It would improve the pool and make it bigger and with more attractions and increase the number of bars and the variety that it presents. Otherwise excellent attention from the staff. One point for my very negative is that they charge $ 25 per night in addition to what you pay for using certain parts of the facilities like the pool floats.
Definitely needs a refresh. The staff is kind and very helpful, the food is good, but feels very antiquated. The pool is very high activity and loud, and so would have loved a bit more relaxation.
Beautiful hotel with amazing service! The nicest people with great hospitality! Huge pool, great beach snorkeling, tons of activities, nice rooms, clean amenities, and delicious breakfast buffet too. Great place to stay! My only complaint is that our room didn't have a microwave. It did have a safe and a fridge though
Everything was amazing even though there was a lot of noise being the workers were on strike.
Has the best Beach on the strip of hotels. Blackrock on Sheraton side and the whole Beach on the other side of blackrock is full of coral. We seen turtles and lots of fish while snorkeling.
I loved everyday of my vacation can t wait to come again
This place has everything you want on your vacation.
As resorts go this one is nice. The staff are friendly, the on site store is open reasonably late, the restaurants have good food, and it has all the amenities you'd ever really want. The rooms were pretty excellent as well. If you're looking for a luxury vacation spot this might be the one for you.
Absolutely fantastic. Views were great and staff was exceptional.
Came to Maui for our honeymoon and stayed here. Rooms are nice, got a complementary upgrade to an ocean view room, they also provide complimentary sunscreen.
Beautiful grounds and easy access to beach. Snorkeling at Black Rock is great.
We were staying for 5 nights for a conference, and thought we would add two nights here, totaling 7. Well the rate on those extra nights shot up from $550 to $869 and they didn't even try to price match other hotels as it said on their website. Phone customer support was unhelpful in price matching other hotel, So we booked two nights at Aston kaanapali beach resort, where they upgraded our stay to a 1,200 sqf deluxe suite for $430 just on the other side of black rock before our stay here. I requested an early 11 am check in over the phone, but our room wasn't ready until 3:00. We requested a king bed, but it wasn't available the first night, so they would move our rooms on first availability. They assured we would have full access to the old room until the new one was ready, and to hold on to our old keys. At around 2:30 we came back to our room from the beach to catch a dinner cruise and our keys didn't work. We walked barefoot with towels through the construction zones to the front desk to stand in line for ten minutes and asked why our room keys were disabled. Within seconds of talking to the front desk, we get a text message saying our new room is available, the front desk person said that "we needed to come get our new room keys anyway", and our bags should be moved to the new room already. Well, our bags, belongings, dinner cruise tickets and complimentary free drink coupon are not in our new room, it's just an empty room. We waited another fifteen for our luggage with our car keys, but not our ticket folder, luckily the cruise made an exception for us. I got my ticket folder back later by taking it from the room service cart.
The rooms (double and King both)... How do I put this... Disastrous... Literally. The electrical sockets near the bed, bathrooms and windows didn't work, as if they were behind on their electric bill. Their in room fridge and alarm clocks have no electricity going through them, No working microwave for leftovers. $5 price tag on bottles of water. The outside construction equipment reverse beeping colluded with The bedding pillows that deflate completely flat, assuring a poor sleep for you and your family every night, which is why I've begun writing this at 5 a.m.
The toilets are stocked with shredded scott brand sand/toilet paper. The lights are outside the bathroom, showers are equipped with flat metal blades sticking out the side posed as soap trays, ready to ruin your day. Be sure to only pat dry when using their scratchy bath towels. For some reason, this place is a four star resort. It's clear they emphasize minimalist design choices and trendy open concepts over comfort, service and accessibility.
The location is nice though, but for an extra ten minute walk you can get so much more. So unless you really want a long, snake like pool that winds around their bar, save yourself whatever they claim to be their fair market price ($869 at this time)
I loved my stay, very well served, we had a very nice room seen on the ocean.
Great amenities, nice rooms, friendly staff. Would have appreciated more vegetarian food options, but otherwise really great!
Literally the worst service I've ever had. Our waitress was flippant, bordering on outright rude, from the moment she brought us menus. She came to our table to bring us menus, take our order, bring our food, bring our checks, and take payment; not once did she check on us, ask us how the food and drinks were, or bring us refills.
Every time she spoke to us she was short and discourteous. At first I thought she was having an off day, which is understandable. However, she carried on full conversations with three other tables in our section while treating us like utter trash.
It took more than thirty minutes from the time she collected our checks and cards to the time she returned with them so we could sign and leave. Meanwhile, she continued conversation with other staff and tables, and even handled payment for several other tables.
Never in my life have I considered walking without paying until this dining experience.
The location was great, central to everything you could want and right by black Rock beach. The room is great with a nice view and very comfy bed. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating! The luau wad awesome!
Prepare to be wowed! Amazing service, employees go above and beyond to help make your stay more enjoyable. Joanne was amazing and made our honeymoon even more special by sending us a gift to our room! Will definitely be booking another stay sooner than later.
Got married here years ago and had a blast. Visited again this year and was very happy to see the place was doing great. Really fun hotel with an amazing beach for snorkling.
Hotel is pricey, however, being within walking distance to the beach and having access to their amazing pool and grounds make up for it. Whalers Village is right around the corner with plenty of restaraunt and shopping options.
Black rock is right out front with some decent snorkeling and fun jumping from the rock.
Beds aren't very comfortable, but the rooms are nice and clean. Not that you'll spend much time in them anyways, at least you shouldn't be since you are in Maui.
Staff is amazing, views are incredible, best vacation ever!
Stayed all week- renovated room, fabulous service, delicious food....the location though- WOW!
I went here for a work sponsored trip. It was the best vacation I've ever had. I stayed for a week and the staff is extremely attentive and will help you with all kinds of things. This resort has it's own section of the beach that you can walk to. There is also a cliff that a bunch of people like to jump off of. I would just bring some water shoes because the rocks are sharp. The resort has a few little food carts around and there are plenty of restaurants to go to on the island. The parking is fine, I can't remember how much it is but was reasonable and convienent. I didn't have my choice of places to stay because work paid for it but when (not if) I come back I'll choose Sheraton Maui again.
Great views, comfortable beds, friendly staff, nice beach. Perfect.
A slice of heaven on Earth. My girls first time here and you would have thought she was a kid on her first sight of Disney World, the way she took it in, with awe and elation.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and LOVED it. The rooms were clean, the service was top notch, and the views were priceless. There are so many activities and amenities you can take advantage of right on the resort. We loved the ocean front cabana rentals and the poolside bars. We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful beach (although the paths leading to it could be nicer), fantastic penthouse, gorgeous views of Black Rock and fun watching the diver.
Amazing location, lovely architecture, kind and friendly staff, but the carpets were FILTHY EVERYWHERE, rooms and hallways alike, paid for a top notch experience yet couldn't tell the carpet apart from a roach motel, and speaking of roaches, saw one hanging out by the elevators but since they fly in Hawaii one can t blame the hotel for them, but here s what I can blame the hotel for, TINY bathtubs, half the size of a standard tub, in America, not in Hong Kong or Tokyo. Also toilet paper dispenser was installed in a spot where it would constantly bang against our knees, and while the view was amazing our balcony was so small that it only had room for one chair, preventing us from ordering room service to enjoy a sunset meal from our lanai, and last but not least, NO FLOWER LEI unless you came for a conference or a wedding, now don't get me wrong we still enjoyed our stay, just wont be coming back!
Very Nice. I did not like the room they gave me the last time. They were unable to switch me that night but the next night the switched us to an absolutely fantastic room! Only downside is the food at the resort is only so so.
The front desk and valet parking staffs are extremely rude and lack of patience. When I checked in, the front desk person just showed impatience with any question I have. I booked an ocean view large room. However, they gave me a room where you can only see partial ocean view from the patio. Ants also showed up at first night we stayed in. The sheet is also dirty and the room service guy only works before 3pm. The landscape is not flattered at all. All the chairs are occupied and it s hard to find some chairs easily. Very crowded.
I really love the rooms that are out by the ocean near " black rock" The sunset views are amazing. No 5 stars because rooms are looking old and worn. Sevice and hospitality was excellent. I highly recommend seeing the sunset ceremony and torch lighting of black rock each night!
Great property with friendly service and terrific location along kaanapali.
Luau was gun. Food was fine. Rained on us. Show cut short because of rain.
Didn't stay here but they have very nice beach access. Saw two good sized sea turtles and a bunch of fish snorkeling near the rocks to the right.
This Resort is take your breath away beautiful. If you make it to Maui with you family a must stay location.
The banquet staff is fantastic. Their manager Dan was extremely helpful and between him, Jimbo and staff at luau, it made our visit awesome!
Amazing. Everyone is so friendly. The view is breathtaking. So many different activities to do. Loved it a lot.
Nice location. Amazing Breakfast, great service. Highly recommend staying here, total worth it. Ocean view rooms are breathtaking.
Went there for the luau. It was very fun, good food and the fire dancers were amazing to watch
Except that there is no drinking water and no kettle, everything else is fine!
Rooms are good size, it's very chill and nice staying here, the cliff jumping is thrilling and wonderful.
Staff are not smiling and not eager to help. To much additional fee. Beach is beautiful though.
Love the hotel and beach. The Cliff Dive Grill had really good food, but the female server (Janel) we had was terrible. My husband had to get up from his seat to get her just to refill our drinks. She needs to be more attentive to her guest.
Very nice facilities with fantastic beach and walking access to a small town for shopping. Parking is $22 a day and valet parking is free the first night then $30 a day. The exercise facilities are newly equipped with running, weights and elliptical
First, you don't get what you pay for. They charge you for everything. The beach is public not private as advertised. On arrival our room wasn't available so we were told we could upgrade to the room we had booked anyway for an additional $250 a night. For $3295.13 we were stuffed (5 of us. 2 adults 3 kids) in a 2 bed room. By far not the best experience at all. let alone your sheets don't get changed at all during the stay, yes that's 7 nights in the same sheets with 5 people. In all this not one of the staff could help us out. We just kept getting told nothing we can do this must be your fault for the way we booked it. Even knowing I showed them my Itinerary that provide I was right and booked it with a suite NOT a one bed room for 5.
Great, reasonably priced option. Good views of the beach and mountains
Extremely disappointed in Sheraton. My wife and I planned our first Hawaii trip and Luau with Sheraton. First they messed up our reservations a month before our trip. We had to stay at a different location but we kept our Luau with them. Now here we sit on our trip two nights before our first ever Luau only to find out it got canceled due to company strike. All Luaus in Maui are booked weeks in advance, especially two nights in advance. Thanks Sheraton for ruining our first ever trip to Maui. My business with your company has ended for good. I will no longer stay at a Sheraton anywhere in the US!
This was honestly the worst customer service experience I've ever had. The staff was on strike during our stay, which was for our wedding week, and they did an excellent job of making sure that no one could enjoy their vacation anywhere near the property. In addition to almost all of the restaurants and room service being closed, there were protesters screaming into megaphones on the beach every single day of our ten day trip, multiple times a day. Try relaxing while listening to people chant for an hour, it's great. We were initially disappointed to learn about the restaurants being closed, but could have gotten over that. The protesting made it absolutely impossible to enjoy your time at the resort.
I ended up talking to the protesters at some point and was told that they announced that they would be striking this month to the hotel 6 months ago if negotiations weren't held and the company did absolutely nothing to negotiate with them until they started striking. So the hotel knew for 6 months that all of their guests' experiences would be ruined this month, they did nothing to work with their staff to resolve things, did nothing to replace their staff, and did nothing to notify their guests that their stay would be impacted by these activities. In addition, they weren't even extra accommodating to make up for it. We got breakfast at the one restaurant that was open on our wedding day, asked if we could take it up to our room because we wanted to start getting ready, and were told "no, this isn't room service". Yeah thanks, we had planned to order room service on our wedding day, if only it was actually available.
I'm just glad my actual wedding was at a restaurant and not on the property. Some other poor bride did have her wedding at the resort while we were there and had protesters shouting at her wedding. She was sobbing. How absolutely unacceptable is it to know that this will be occurring and not give your guests a heads up?
I've traveled quite a bit and have stayed at a lot of hotels ranging from quaint bargain places to nice resorts and I've never in my life been even remotely this dissatisfied. I would highly recommend avoiding this hotel. Clearly any hotel that doesn't bother notifying guests until they check in that their entire stay will be impacted by something this drastic does not value customer satisfaction and is not a safe choice to book.
Best location and best view from the club lounge, however rooms are a bit outdated. Front desk service isn't the best I've seen.
Nice views, easy walk to beach, good snorkeling, umbrella rentals, great pool and bar. Nice oceanfront pathway to Whalers Village that's lit up at night.
Awesome beach, sea turtles out snorkeling just by the rock. Bit expensive on the food and drinks, but well worth it.
Best experience ever. Weekends are busy with locals.
Enjoyed our stay here a lot. Our room was very nice and had a great view. Snorkeling was fun and there are a couple of sea turtles that come up around the shoreline near the black rocks. It is a relatively short walk along the beachwalk down to Whalers Village which is definitely a bonus. There is a daily fee for parking which is annoying, but expected. Overall, the staff was very friendly and this is was a great place to stay.
Very disappointed we planned this trip 6 months ago not knowing there was going to be a strike, every morning 6:30 were woken up by banging pots and pans and chanting down below our room. We rent chairs and umbrellas for 45 dollars just to be distributed by the strikers coming out to ruin our sun sets. The breakfast buffet was always a mess, just alot of things weren't happy with. We spent a long time planning this trip it cost alot off money. I know that the people at the Sheraton tried to do ther best they could, but it wasn't a very fun stay here with the strike going on.
Quality resort on one of the Hawaiian Island's great desintations. Renting a car is a must since everyone flies in and it's a 50-minute trip to and from the hotel. You'll also find a car advantageous for driving to Lahaina which is five miles away where there are great restaurants and sunset dinner tours.
The Sheraton offers quality rooms, regardless the view, and excellent cuisine at its dining spots. The breakfast buffet is pricey if not included in your package.
Nice resort, decent rooms, ac blew out dust..a little outdated.
I love this resort. Not as busy as our stay at the Westin last year, and it feels like "old Maui", not as corporate, clean pools, with a great view of the Black Rock.
Highly recommended.
We spent a lot of time here on our trip although our room was next door. My mother in law had a room here. She had some issues that management addressed, she was very satisfied. The luau was very nice. Of course the view is amazing. Spent a lot at the bar and grill!
Nice place.
It was quiet and scenic once and the staff was friendly and nice.
I'm having a good time in Maui. If I come again, I would like to come back to Sheraton Maui.
A lot of hidden fees average rooms beds suck... don't believe the desk when they say there upgrading you...grounds are nice
This place is nice but the customer service is no good people is mean
The rooms are a bit outdated but the deluxe rooms are pretty nice. The views from the black rock are absolutely amazing
