Our linen was obviously not replaced after the previous guests, which was apparent by the smell and red/brown stains on a pillow and the comforter. We asked for new linen and comforter, but they ran out of comforters, so they gave us-what I m assuming-was an extra comforter/bed liner. Also, TV was not working, so they had the maintenance person check it out, but they weren t going to be able to anything until the following day. In the end, we just gave up, and checked out at 1 A.M., then went to another hotel.

Had a nice stay at the Sheraton. The service was outstanding, the lobby area was really nice, and it was right in the center of town. The rooms were comfortable but could maybe use a few updates here or there.

When we stayed here in 2012, the "old timey" feel of the rooms actually matched the rest of the architecture/decor of the hotel. It definitely felt dated, but in a charming way. I think the place has a lot of history, and that was kind of cool. Our most recent trip there last year was a much different story. They renovated the lobby to have a more "modern" feel (which was not in itself very impressive but rather seemed cheap and overly flashy). Unfortunately, the rooms remained unchanged, so the whole vibe of the hotel was thrown off. We also noticed the rooms could've used some deep cleaning, and perhaps a paint job or new carpet, or maybe just better attention to detail. We had to actually request a new room because there was so much dust/spider webs in the first one, and the bathroom floor was covered in hair. These were things we didn't notice on our first trip. The good: the staff is still as friendly as ever, rooms are comfortable and quiet, and we enjoyed the free drinks/appetizers they offered in the afternoon (good food and drinks, not the cheap stuff). Also, the location is perfect, not far from the river walk but away from the crowd. In the future though, we'll probably check elsewhere.

When I arrived there with my wife the first thing we noticed is that the room was not vacuumed with crumbs on the carpet, there was also:
- Hair under the sheets of the bed - several strands of hair
- And this one piece of nasty hair on the tub - not cool

They ended up moving us from rooms and giving us a complimentary valley parking which seemed fair. However when I checked my CC statement a few days later I seen a $30 charge for the valley parking.
In general the rooms are small and the shower water pressure is pretty weak. They do have nice furniture and decoration though and the TV is alright. All in all even if our room had been cleaned properly I still would not recommend it, better options in that area.

From the outside, the hotel looks welcoming and nice - on the inside it is dated and old.
I stayed in a room on the 9th floor:
- the welcoming smell when you exit the elevator is like a bunch of dead rats died in the hallway - I discussed with the front desk and they brushed it off
- the room smelled damp and it was dated, and seems they sprayed so much stuff on the carpet to make the room smell good, the carpet was sticky
- mildew in the washroom around the sink knobs and in the shower; there was a foot print in the bathtub - again the front desk people solution was to send someone to respect the carpet and clean the shower - that was at 1 am when I arrived, the only thing I wanted to do is sleep.

Not sure if other floors than the 9th smell better, but you should at least avoid that floor, if not the entire hotel.

Fantastic location for restaurants and concerts. The room was beautiful! The valet service was great; kind employees and very quick to bring you your car. I definitely recommend this place.

My wife and stayed here on a date night and really enjoyed it. I haven't been in the hotel much since it was renovated and I was really impressed with the improvements. The bar is a hidden gem in the hotel -- you might not notice the entrance if you walk through the lobby quickly. The drinks were great and the service was quite good even though it was overtaken by a wedding party while we were there. Get a moscow mule or an amaretto sour. You won't regret it. ;)

Breakfast there was also surprisingly good. We'll definitely be back.

Like most hotels I find myself lounging in and never staying in, this one is just as drop dead gorgeous as the rest with a pleasant staff. The Gunter distinguishes itself, however, with a LOT of historical memorabilia: Pictures, plaques, a whole floor dedicated to history and my favorite of all, legendary blues singer and the devil himself, Robert Johnson.
They've got (presumptively) original Robert Johnson 78's on display and the bar entrance has a nice photo of him to greet and wish your love to; it's wonderful to be in the presence of a legend.
The Gunter also has entrance to a cozy bakery and is on beautiful Houston St, very close to some of the best spots in San Antonio to visit.
Though I've never stayed here, Christ I wish I could live here forever.

Terrible Hotel.

Terrible Hotel.

My Now Fiance at the time boyfriend had planned this trip for a while. We put in a 4-day passes for the weekend( we are both in the military). He wanted to make this trip special, at the time i did not know why but i found out later . When he proposed to me why he went to all the trouble. He Booked us to be at this hotel from friday night Feb 3 to check out on Feb 6 in the morning. This hotel definitely made me wish he would of saved his money and just booked us at a motel six or something, We would of had less trouble and I still would of appreciated his effort.

Incident Four: my fiance and I decided to leave the hotel sunday after the superbowl due to both of us being to dissatisfied with the hotel and not caring that they already charged him for three night we preferred to leave early then sleep at this hotel one more night. A few days later after we returned to work we find out that the hotel after we left double charged him. We have to wait 60 Days for them to fix the mistake they made so he can get his money back.

Lobby is nice but smelled like nail polish remover. Room was adequate but not as nice as other Sheratons I've stayed in. This hotel is very old and one sure has been updated many times over the years but it still shows its age. Overall it is a nice place to stay but I wouldn't make it a priority when I'm back in San Antonio.

Ate at restaurant. Food was good. However, busboy broke glasses multiple times and glass flew several tables over. While they picked up most of it, there were still big pieces of glass and glass shards all over. Was not impressed at how then handled the situation.

Overall we had a good stay! The hotel is older and has some charm. The location is amazing- really close to the Alamo and river walk and downtown. The market/restaurant downstairs- MOH, has some very fresh farm to table options (I got the Bexar salad and REALLY enjoyed it).

The only thing I didn t like about this hotel was the paper thin walls. Unfortunately they put a family with small children in the room next to us, so on a Saturday morning we were jolted awake by a crying child, running, yelling and what s probably considered normal family time for them, but for us it was 6am and a little earlier of a morning wake up than we had intended.

Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and everyone was very friendly and willing to help.

The Sheraton is a really nice hotel. We had a one king size bedroom. It was very clean, the comforter was really comfy, although the extra covers they provide are really noisy and hard and the AC in the room made a really loud noise when it turned on, also wish iy would have had a mini fridge. The location was perfect, walking distance to the riverwalk, the alamo, and the trolley stopped right out front. We had dinner at the hotel the first night and both food and service were good. Overall it was great for a weekend stay.

If you come to san Antonio and want to be in the middle of this beautiful city you need to stay at the Sheraton Hotel. The location of the Hotel gives you the opportunity to walk and enjoy the beauty of the city. If you want to walk to the Alamo you just have to walk 4 blocks east on you have arrived. The riverwalk is 1 block west of the hotel and if you want to have a great meal you have so many restaurants to pick from. The rooms are great and the staff friendly.

The lobby is clean and it s very close to the river walk. The bar and small resteraunt is also a plus. The hallways and rooms smell like mildew, and the bathrooms are very outdated and not cleaned very well AT ALL. Also, the towels that I had were stained. It s an ok hotel if you have to stay here for business, but I would never recommend it for any other reason.

Overall pretty decent, this was a work trip so I didn't really hangout at the hotel. The things that would improve the stay would be more light in the rooms (only the lamp between the beds and a small desk lamp in the main area), a fridge and microwave, and more power outlets to charge phones (no outlet near the nightstand?). Our group rate included breakfast which was awesome! Easy access to Riverwalk/restaurants. Stayed on the 6th floor, look up room 636 if you like mysteries.

The room:
incredibly claustrophobic and old. The beds were comfortable however, and the WiFi worked well.

Customer service:
After scheduling an early check-in over a week ahead of time, I did not find out until my arrival that it would not be granted. Because of the inconvenience I was told we would be getting a call as soon as a room was available. That call never came.

When addressing this with the manager she informed me that I was lucky to get checked in when I did .

The same thing occurred when we requested a late checkout (which was also scheduled ahead of time). For $300 a night I expected more. Incredibly disappointing stay.

We held an event here and Tina Garcia is the best- any issue and she has it handled! The rooms for our guests were absolutely perfect. I would host another event here in a heart beat. U would also happily stay here any time the occasion arose. Great food, amazing drinks, absolutely fantastic venue.

I should have known there would be problems when my assistant had problems making reservations. I know many use the Internet, but those of us in government have to do things the old-fashioned way. Making reservations for three, she had problems getting the staff to find the conference code we were attending at their hotel.

The rooms for all of us were musty. Several of the 130+ attendees had the same complaint. The room our group meals were served in were musty. This tells me there needs to be maintenance performed on the air handlers and vent systems. There is mold in there somewhere. Either that or the carpets need cleaned or changed.

The buffet meals had NO water served. Coffee or tea was it. I had to go back to the conference room to get a pitcher of water to bring back to our table. I don't understand. When I asked for water from someone on the staff, she looked at me like I was asking her for money. The food was, "meh."

The cleanliness was questionable. They missed a lot of little things. In our hallway, there was cap from a bottle of water in the floor next to the wall. It was there for three days before someone picked it up. We were on the 8th floor. Cleaning staff was on the floor every day as was a guy with a vacuum cleaner. None of them saw it? There was shiny gold colored sticker off of some type of candy on the floor by the elevators. The floor there is dark colored so this sticker stood out. It was there for four days and was there when I checked out on Friday Oct 18th.

In my room, I noticed dust along the baseboards that was ignored. It needed scrubbed. In addition, in the door to the shower and toilet areas, there was dirt and dust accumulated on the cut-outs of that door. It was on all of the designs, but it was obvious on what was at eye level for the cleaning staff. Eye level!

In the fitness center, the protective coating was worn off of the cable on the cable machine on one side. The other side was worn off a little and it was covered with black electrical tape. When an employee came around I pointed it out to her and the potential danger as I used to work in gyms in my youth. To her credit, she reported it to her bosses who came to look at it about 15 minutes later. I explained to them again that it's all one cable and wouldn't take long to replace. I don't think either one had ever set foot in the room before. It was obvious neither one worked out, so they were surprised at the condition of the cable.

They charged SEVERAL at our conference for parking and they didn't have a car. I did have a rental for three nights and they charged me correctly for two of the nights ($33 + tax). But they put an additional $160 +tax parking fee and couldn't explain what it was. The desk clerks had no idea what it was. It took them several minutes to get it off my bill. They didn't charge me for the 3rd parking night, which was nice. Later that evening I received an updated bill where they removed the parking entirely. Again, nice of them to do that. But, what about most people who never look at their bills because their employers are paying the bills?

All-in-all, I would avoid. If they are missing obvious dirt, they are ignoring major things we don't see. I think their management don't walk around the place. If they do, they are blind.

There are MANY hotels in this area. There has to be a better choice than this one!!

I loved it.

I loved it.

They have LOVELY Beautiful rooms, only reason why they got three stars is because, there should at least be a microwave in the rooms, every hotel I have been in including some expensive ones or the ones with 3 stars has microwaves and a coffee maker, there are a lot of ppl who drinks coffee late at night, early morning. Other than that the stay was wonderful!!!

The staff was friendly and generous. I asked for joining rooms, but there was a mix-up. The front desk fixed it quickly. The decor was beautiful and modern, but the staff wasn't stuffy or uptight. We stayed in 935 and 936. 935 was cozy, but perfect for our needs. 936 was very large. Curtains did not let in any light. There was no view from the rooms (except for the top of another building), but the inside of the room, location, and history made up for lack of view.

This hotel was not what I expected the rooms were not very clean the glasses were dirty and I don't understand charging for bottle water when you give it downstairs for free, hotel lobby smells very dank, yes it's old but I expected some sort of freshness about a Sheraton hotel. I can't imagine I will be staying here again as I was charged extra for a room upgrade that I did not receive and was told by a hotel manager that the charge would be waived.

Horrible place. Pathetic customer service and unprofessional staff.
Woke up middle of night hearing security staff knocking the door. Reason? There has been error in computer system, wanted to validate identity.
This is when there are several ways in modern era to get in touch with a guest.
Will never recommend this place for any one. There are several better places in the town.
