Had drinks at the bar with my girlfriends and had the best bartender John. He was very attentive to our needs and made yummy drinks. He socialized with us and had a great personality. The ambiance of the bar was amazing, taking you back to the Casablanca era. It's a must while in San Antonio!!

Well they have valet for parking you car which we used and they damage the car.

Please read edit- Checking in was smooth and easy, the front desk representative was professional and polite. I chose this specific hotel, as I had researched they were known for their exceptional customer service. Being from a hospitality background myself, this is important for me. As I walked downstairs back to the front desk to ask for directions to the gym, two front desk workers continued to talk without even acknowledging me, even when I said excuse me to ask a question they both walked away from the front to back just leaving me there when it was obvious I was waiting for some assistance. I am really disappointed by this.

This is an edit to my original post a week ago. At checkout I was asked if I was pleased with the service provided during my stay. I explained to the front desk agent the incident that happened the same day at check in. She was very apologetic, in addition the director of food and beverage also immediately rectified the issue, and insisted I have lunch at their in house restaurant before I start my travels, and was also very apologetic about the incident that occurred. I am extremely pleased with the sincerity and follow through to make sure that my stay was enjoyable till last minute of my trip. Thank you Sheraton Gunther and Brian.

Side note, the hotel is beautiful, location is great. The gym is amazing! The market restaurant in house is great, i love their desserts, Staff is kind and polite. Overall I am very pleased. 4 stars for now until next time.

Superb hotel - friendly and courteous front desk reps, attentive maid service, and a valet - Ryan - that s second none. Absolutely an outstanding experience during our stay here for our daughter s AF BMT graduation.
Definitely get the valet service - very quick and courteous!

The hotel was really nice, but the hotel restaurant was a bit to be desired. The bar area was great, but the staff for the restaurant and breakfast was some of the worst I've experienced while staying downtown. Needs some changes before I'll eat there again.

Amazing hotel, very clean, very friendly staff tbey are the people whinmake this place! Good bedrooms, great bar, good eara even for a veggie and nicely done breakfasts availiable, good for a bonvoy member !

Excellent customer service, but the rooms are very small especially the bathrooms.

Don't let looks deceive you into thinking this is a nice hotel! The lobby is the nicest feature. We booked a room with double beds only to show up to a King room. My friend was forced to sleep on a rollaway bed!!! The guy at the front desk was extremely rude and disrespectful. It was after midnight when we checked in so we were forced to just accept it. After talking to the manager the next day we were switched into another room. The rooms are dated. Everything was stained. We had two different blankets on our beds with RED blood stains on them. The tub in both rooms had rust stains and paint peeling off, and everything was just kind of crusty. You can find a much nicer, and definitely cleaner hotel for the money you will pay here.

The hotel has a classic look that's been updated through the years. The lobby was very clean and bright and the staff was polite. Valet parking staff was also very friendly and prompt.

The toilet flush overflowed and created a complete mess the first day. They didn't even both to clean up the wet clothes they used after fixing it.
The rooms had cockroaches and rats.
Some utilities in the rooms like the hair dryer were heavily dusted.
The other basic facilities and the location were good.
I wouldn't recommend the hotel.

The staff & team there are amazing!! They truly go above & beyond to ensure the best guest experience. The beautiful new remodel and the amenities are all bonuses. I highly recommend the stay here if you're in downtown SA.

Great location right downtown and choose to the river walk. Added bonus it's pet friendly and they provided beds for our dogs.

Came here for a wedding reception. The staff and food was great.

It's was o.k. for the price that I paid but no breakfast no free parking the location was excellent and if you don't have a car bus passing by the hotel very often and people are very friendly there and the only problem was their small refrigerator didn't work and the had to fixt it.And also I had placed my sign do not disturb but the went inside anyways and left me a note that the came to clean but I wasn't there

Well my wife and I got ready for bed and pulled the sheets back to discover a big brown stain in the bed. Now housekeeping did come up and change the sheets but the only compensation was covering a 30$ parking. this room was 300$. don't recommend and wont stay here again

I was not a guest here ,yet I was treated like one. The staff here are top notch. I had to fax some documents and even though I wasn't staying here the concierge still helped me and faxed all 29 pages for me. He was kind and thoughtful and beyond helpful. Another staff member gave me some fresh fruit drink that he was serving to guests and also gave me a plate of house made chips and salsa that was very tasty. The whole time they all had a genuine smile and I can't say enough good things about them all. Top notch going above and beyond. I really appreciate them for this and would recommend this establishment to all who ask. In my opinion it's a 5 star .keep up the excellent work people. And thank you

The hall is perfect for any special event such as a wedding or sweet 16. My brother had his weeding there and everything came out good. The staff were very helpful and attentive.

Beautiful rooms nice restaurant and a Speakeasy bar really really nice, pretty awesome

We were disappointed in the very outdated and dirty rooms. 2 of our 5 days, the room was not serviced or cleaned. We complained to the front desk and someone came and gave us clean towels and a swipe at the sink. The room has not been updated in probably 35-40 years and their has been little deep cleaning. The beds were comfy, but the sheets did not fit the bed and the location of the hotel was great and the history of the hotel was interesting, but did not make up for the room, which cost way more than it was worth.

Hotel was nice and clean before it grades who has little scabs come on the tiles that was the only problem I had oh and parking the charge $32 for I can otherwise you have no place to park if you book online they'll tell you free parking animal friendly but it's not there will be a charge at the end of your stay

The history of this hotel is awesome and it's beautiful. Customer service was great as well!!

Went to a Christmas Party here. Everything was wonderful. One tiny complaint the food we were served was a bit cold.

Large rooms in this historic hotel in the heart of the city center. Location is great.. would give higher rating if I had had ANY housekeeping during my 5-night stay.

Talked to 3-4 different people. Very evasive asked if they excepted corporate lodging cards could not answer me

The Lobby is extremely beautiful and stylish, but my room was a bit small and lack of refrigerator and microwave. Maybe slightly overpriced too.

It was a nice convention space, but little signage nor staff information on where to go.

Nice towels and bedding. Comfortable mattress. Friendly helpful staff. Great location near the River Walk and downtown. Two things reduce my rating; 1) they turned off the AC for repairs 6am-6pm on a hot summer day, and 2) the hotel ran out of regular coffee. I'm not joking, they only had decaf for the in-room coffee makers. Seems like poor planning/poor management.

Very nice hotel. Lots of character. Great location across from theater and near other restaurants. In hotel restaurant and bar has a good atmosphere with inside and outside seating. In fitness center treadmills include ear buds and spotify login which was a pleasant surprise.

I just walked by this hotel on the Riverwalk. I guess it's fine.

Staff and Lobby were great, but room was tiny, AC was obnoxiously loud, and shower had no hot water or pressure.

I have to start this review off by saying this hotel is WAY nicer than places I usually stay. I honestly feel uncomfortable in such nice places, because I'm not used to it. I LOVE the downtown location, easy walking distance from everything. This may seem trivial but they have the fastest, smoothest elevators I've ever been in. Staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Parking in downtown San Antonio is a nightmare, so the Valet comes in handy here. Breakfast buffet was very good, again way above what I am used to. The room was very spacious and clean, extremely comfortable bed, very well appointed room with plenty of power outlets for electronics, well lit, nice view of downtown. It came with a fridge which is great for me since I travel with a cooler in my car and had a place to put my ice packs and drinks. Room also had a large flat screen TV, with a good lineup of channels, nice desk, and a recycle bin. I only wish it had a microwave so I could reheat left over food. Overall this is a great location, and makes for a comfortable stay in downtown San Antonio. I would recommend this location if you enjoy a quiet stay in a higher end property.

A very well maintained historic hotel. It is just 2 blocks from the Riverwalk. The staff is welcoming and the service was great! They also have a small museum which is pretty cool.

We love the Sheraton Gunther in San Antonio. The staff is great The rooms are super clean and it's close to everything in downtown San Antonio. Highly recommended!

We had a salon wedding here and it was perfect! Daniel and Madison from the hotel worked so hard to make sure we had the perfect day and I can't thank them enough!
The hotel is in the perfect location and has a gorgeous interior. I highly recommend The Gunter for a wedding or any other event.

I was just passing through and entered the main lobby to inquire about the price for each night. I found the prices to be a little too high for my budget and decided not to book a room. The staff was very nice and friendly.

Had a year end company party. Nice accommodations, food was so so -. Pork tenderloin was over cooked and dry.

Fantastic and accommodating staff along with a clean and nice room. Valet was quick and accommodating also.

I was there for the 414 bar, had some drinks with some freinds. The service was great, the people were great.

2. The river walk is 20 minutes away if you want to get to the part that has action with all the restaurants
3. The staff is below average
4. Room service takes hours to arrive
5. The rooms are tiny
6. The tv is 100 years old
7. The bathrooms are nicer at la Quinta inn

Nice hotel. Rooms were a little smaller than expected but not too bad. Would definitely recommend.

Room was lively but the bathroom was in the small side for 2 people. Hot water had virtually no pressure what so ever.

The shower had very little water pressure and it didn't even get hot. The A/C barely worked. They moved me to a other room for my last night and that A/C wouldn't blow cold. The parking is pricey at 32 a day. Shouldn't parking be part of the hotel costs? The rooms are not that nice for the price. I had rusty discovered faucets. The sink solution tries to be modern but it looks terrible.

Great location - easy walking distance to the Alamo, Riverwalk, Majestic Theatre, downtown places. The beds were comfy and clean. If you have status with Marriott, the lounge was great in the mornings and evenings - open all the time with hours posted for breakfast and evening oer d'oeuvres. Great place as a base of operations to explore San Antonio!

The hotel is in a great location, just a block or two away from the Riverwalk. Beautiful lobby and the room had a great view.

Only thing I did there was hit the bar and it was a good bar.

Beautiful place nice and very clean. Staff is very friendly.

The room was nice and clean but the AC made a loud clicking noise, we heard everything outside and in other rooms, we heard dogs barking and the coffee maker was insane. The elevators were broken when and we had to take the stairs a few times. No complimentary breakfast which wasn't cool especially for the cost of the room and they charged a $50 fee when we checked in without explaining it to us even though we booked and paid for the room two days in advance. Definitely will not go back to this hotel.

Nice size room and great service. Older hotel so theres random noises. The bar downstairs is nice. Close to everything, starbuck across the street. Had a great 2 night stay. Will be back soon!

Nice rooms and facilities, a bit damp inside the building.

No free parking. They give you some sort of reward points for not having your room cleaned that nobody in the hotel knows how to redeem.

And sometimes they simply do not clean your room.

The location was great, 5 minute walk to the riverwalk. We had a room on the fourth floor, because we brought our dog with us. Loved that they were dog friendly and required no pet deposit(allowed up to 40 lbs). We got a club room and it was totally worth it; free breakfast, access to the private lounge, free drinks. Every one was so nice. My only complaints are that the parking is $32 for Valet and if you want to park yourself, the closest garage is $5-$10 for every time you go in and out. Also, if you are a tall person, this hotel might not be for you. My husband is 6'3" and the shower head was at his chest. Because it's an old hotel, the doorways are low and the bathrooms are small, not ideal for tall people. Other than that, we had tons of fun. Bar 414 was the coolest!

It's conveniently closed to river walk. Bathrooms are very small at Queen. Nice environment. Bed is good, we liked the pillows. We will book King next time.
