The location is quite convenient to the River Walk. The king room is very comfortable and well-appointed, the bathroom had a slight musty smell, but was able to air out the room.

We arrived approx 430 PM and drove around the block 4 times (45mins) waiting to pull into hotel for vallet. Hotel entrance was blocked due to Majestic crowd. Then when departing we had to wait for their vallet to bring us our vehicle about 20 mins. Just not very efficient for the price paid to stay. Only stayed one evening.

What a grand hotel. They host weddings, and have great bars. You can get delivery to the pool. The service is impeccable and don't forget, It's the birthplace of the blues. Robert Johnson recorded there! This is a very nice hotel that caters to your needs. Oh! They have very comfortable beds.

Nice location. Clean room, but thin walls. You'll probably be woken up by your neighboring room. The location is right across the street from the San Antonio Symphony (my purpose for visiting). They have a lobby restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and the food seemed good. I was able to have a nice ribeye steak with a glass of wine out on the patio, watching cars and people go by on a lively saturday night, before walking across the street for a symphony show. I would recommend.

Market in Houston, the Sheraton restaurant, features impeccably cooked entrees and vivid appetizers. Their bar staff is top notch and won't leave you parched. If you can, go to breakfast! A meal easy to do well, but difficult to do very well. All in all a place we've been to before and will drop by again!

Beautiful historic Gunter Hotel in downtown San Antonio. Run by Sheraton, the hotel is freshly-renovated in the lobby. Love the Market On Houston breakfast buffet. Being historic, rooms and bathrooms are smaller.

$150/night and you don't have airport shuttle service? AND early check in fee $50... have to wait until 3? And you're a 15 min walk from the convention center? What am paying for exactly?
It's pretty and the staff is nice... Yay.

This hotel is terrible. 1st room we had was dirty: carpet, bathroom, paperwork on desk was dirty and stained. It was late when we got in so we had no choice but to make do. The hotel manager texted my husband the following morning to see how the stay was when he explained to the manager how bad the room was they moved us to another room. All looked decent in the room until we tried to take a shower in the evening there was no hot water!!! so we had to take cold showers in a shower/tub that wouldn't drain. All I have to say is do not stay at this hotel it gives an illusion of being a nice hotel in the lobby but in reality the rooms are dirty and run down.

This was a great hotel to stay at for a girls weekend in San Antonio! I picked here because it was close to the Majestic Theatre, and that was a great decision. The staff was courteous, the fitness room had water and apples available in addition to the great equipment, and the pool was perfect at the end of a hot day of being tourists! We will definitely stay here again.

It was nice. The beds were very comfortable. They have a museum in the hotel. I just wished that they had free parking but i guess because of the location of the hotel they didnt have it or if they did somehow we missed it. We paid $35 for VIP parking but you could park in the garage next door for much less.

The waiting staff at the lobby is very friendly. The person at the desk, Mario, was very helpful. Rooms are small but the location is prime, right in the middle of downtown san antonio.

Rich in history, the hotel itself it's very nice. My room on the fourth floor is furnished nicely. While the hotel is nice and the room has obviously been updated it could use some touch up. There are corners in the bathroom that have the metal reinforcement exposed and the wallpaper was poorly cut. But the real problem is the sound in the room. I am on the fourth floor and the sounds of the streets reverbs between buildings and during the night fire trucks ran down the streets on multiple occasions and sound as they passed within feet of the end of my bed. The noise is loud enough that the room actually comes with earplugs. Also the walls are extremely thin. If some goes down the hall you will know it.

This hotel is a case of looks can be deceiving. The lobby is pristine, the staff is very nice but the rooms itself are dirty, dusty, stained etc. We stayed for 1 night and moved 3 times. The first room had blood and black stained sheets, the mirror had hand prints, there were full wads of hair on the bathtub wall and hair on the floor and in toilet. The second room was similar, with dirty and dusty, the doors had caked on grime and the same stained sheet that was being used as a bed skirt. Finally the 3rd room was good. Three times the charm. With everything going on with the Covid garbage, and someone in the room is immune compromised, this was not a good night. We will not ever be returning to this hotel despite the pillows being super comfy.

Didn't stay, but great place to hangout before attending a play at the Majestic. They will validate your parking ticket with meal purchase.

Comforter had blood stains and towels had brown spots. Talked to a coworker who also stayed and they also had stains on their comforter as well. If they are going to have white linens, they should probably wash them better. Anyway wasn't too bad besides the cleanliness issue. Pool was always in the sun, which was nice. Then I received my bill and it had two days of random parking added on. Took three phone calls and a full month to have the amount credited to my bill.

I was looking forward to a stay in a historic San Antonio hotel but was disappointed in how the Sheraton "updated" the decor. There are many historic hotels in downtown SA that are able to update amenities while keeping the charm and history of the original structure. That wasn't the case for the Gunter. Still, I enjoyed the little bits of history on display. I don't plan on returning mainly because there are much nicer historic hotels in far better areas of downtown (although I may come back for the bar one day). I didn't necessarily have a bad experience at the Gunter, I just know I can have a better one elsewhere for a similar price.

Mario at the front desk was AMAZING. The customer service here was great. My ONLY complaint is the in room dining. The food is horrible. You can get a better steak at an ihop. Ordered it medium and it arrived burned eith not an ounce of flavor... for 28$ you expect good steak. It was inedible nothing but fat and tasted like gas. They did refund the money for that.

First dont expect to check in before three no rooms are ready before then, also to park in their parking lot its $35 per day which to me is kinda crazy you shouldnt have to pay if you are staying at the hotel. The rooms were nothing to brag about they were clean but i have been in nicer rooms at smaller hotels. Two out of the three elevators worked and were very slow it was faster taking the stairs at times. Had some issue with a room upgrade charge to my card that i didnt ask for but they did take care of it quickly so kudos to the manger who took care of it.

I wish there was a rating below 1* that is what this hotel deserves. The rooms are very old and very dated. The room I was in need to be gutted and completly redone. Everything is heavily worn and needs to be replaced. All the doors and walls are neat up and dingy. The bathroom is TINY and feels like a truck stop bathroom, very unsetteling. I am glad I was only hear 1 night. See photos I added. Secret not shared when booking, parking is $32 per night, not optional if you are driving. I tried calling the front desk 3 times and was placed on hold for over 10 minutes each time finally gave up. It was below freezing last night. I set the heated on 67 and ran all night but the room is 63 this morning, I don't think it works. No need to mention the lovely view of the AC unit out the window.

Got a good rate on priceline. Unfortunately, the hotel was disappointing with small rooms, lukewarm hot water with low water pressure. Room also seemed to stay humid even with the AC cranked down. Park overnight at garage behind the hotel for 10 dollars a night instead of 32 plus tip.

Hard to notice from the street. Parking was $34 a night which I feel is outrageous considering you already paid for your room. Staff was super friendly and professional. The attached bar was nice and the bartender was great to us. Rooms are a bit outdated, but very clean. Showerhead is set low which can be an issue if you're tall. This hotel is right across the street from the Riverwalk. Rooms are typically cheaper here because it's not right on the Riverwalk but you're not even going to notice it. The Alamo is a super short walk down the street. Plenty of dining and gift shops nearby all in super short walking distances. Overall if it weren't for the parking, I would come back here.

The Gunter is located in a great location very close to the Riverwalk. The staff was nice and the hotel was charming. The rooms themselves are a little dated but well maintained. My main issue is the cost of parking, but that seems to be an issue everywhere downtown.

Friendly staff and service. Well-maintained historical location. Conference facilities were nice, although catering staff frequently made excessive noise that distracted from programming (at least 4 times, all different sessions). Housekeeping policies to support environmentally conscious choices were overly restrictive, discouraging participation (set up a an all-or-nothing choice). Well-located for easy access to San Antonio attractions.

Loved my stay! The customer service was great. Glad I chose this hotel, great and interesting history behind it and the aesthetics are quite elegant. Only complaint is the room didn t have too great heating, which isn t bad if it wasn t so cold outside during the night Also the club lounge serves Pepsi products! Texans are known for drinking and enjoying Dr. Pepper, but overall great stay! Hope to come back again soon

The rooms are nice but their front desk can't get things right the first time, stayed here on business had to pay with a check so instead the charged a personal card for the amount of the room took a day to get that fixed and then upon check out I was notified I had charges on the room when there shouldn't have been, they were not up front about a new city tax when I reserved the room in OCTOBER so no I am out the money for the tax. Will not stay at this hotel again

This is just my experience and I hope anyone else has a better experience. We planned a trip down to San Antonio to celebrate my birthday. We got to the hotel to check-in parking is 32.00 per day but they do have a parking garage across the street for 5.00 per day. We got up to our room and noticed the room was not clean especially the bathroom. We then went down to guest services, which I will give them credit they switched our room after we voiced our displeasures. The hotel itself and lobby is very nice. Location is walking distance from river walk. Has a few cafes and majestic theatre literally across the street. The rooms are super dated, very hot (woke up both nights we stayed almost in sweat with AC on full blast). The room also had a weird smell to it. Here s the good part so upon us checking out we once again voiced our displeasures so they offered 1 night off plus a free lunch in their restaurant called the Market on Houston located in the hotel. I told my wife that is very nice of them. I ordered the brisket quesadilla, so we hit the road headed back home and started to feel weird. I spent the next half of the day (my birthday) several trips to the bathroom with food poisoning. This is by far the worst experience I ve had with a hotel. I hope everyone else has a better experience with this hotel.

The hotel took over 3 hours to get us in our room then the heat did not work. The Platinum lounge door did not lock everyone one had access and not many options. The hotel bar closed at 10pm. Marriott has allot of work to do on this property now that they bought Starwood

We arrived at about 11pm with crying children. When we went to check in they had no rooms with two queen beds which is what we booked. We had to fit 5 people in a king size room for the night. The hotel lobby was really pretty but there was 3 separate parties waiting to check in with one person working so it took forever. There was no Bell hop on duty and no one offered to help us get to our room. We ordered a roll away bed since we didn't have enough beds and the gentlemen brought it up quickly but had nothing to say but here is your bed and walked away. The king bed smelled like pee but was comfortable . The bathroom had a toilet that was like a public restroom and not a fancy hotel. The toilet paper holder was in the back corner and hard to access. The light in the bathroom was just a bulb and missing a cover. To have the light on in the bathroom you had to have the light on in the hallway too which was not cool when you had kids sleeping in the room. The worst part was that while you were in the shower the water would just shut off or only drip because the water pressure was horrible. I was in the shower with two small children and had to wait 45 seconds for the water to come back on! Food- we had the club access and it was just okay. The eggs were horrible and the potatoes had no flavor. The bacon and drinks were nice. The wine at the bar was good and reasonably priced! The valet was awesome and super friendly but was $32 a day.

Yuck. First we got a room with the wrong number of beds. Then the room we got was filthy with a mass of very long red hair on the floor. I have short blnde hair and the maid tried to blame the hair on me. They argued about cleaning, for God's sake. They did go out of their way to help resolve the issue once we brought it to their manager's attention. We got a credit and many apologies.

Old hotel with very small rooms. Smaller bathroom that had a barely usable toilet (due to space). Very chintzy on everything. $32 per day parking valet so it s $32 plus tax and valet tip for in/our. Four days of car parking was $150.00. Won t be back here.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I stayed at the Gunter in November and my fiance and I were robbed... in our room. Our friend walked 10 feet from the door and left it cracked. Some homless man (some how able to walk every floor of the hotel freely... we were on the 8th) walked in our room while we were in it and stole our stuff. It was late, so we were asleep while this was going on. Our friend caught them, but the man ran out of the hotel exit that supposedly has an alarm... that didnt go off! Hotel security is a joke. They did nothing to help. Oh, and the rooms are small and dirty anyway...
