Lovely, historic hotel in a convenient location for visiting other downtown sites. Friendly staff have helpful and informative (especially Martin). Excellent tech support for our conference. We have had an issue with the AC in our room and other public spaces, leaving everything a bit humid and warm.

Older hotel but very clean, did not have self parking onl y valet at an outrageous $32 per night when asked if there were other options front desk staff had little info. Found two parking garages right across the street with rates half of the hotel. Shower had a very slow drain. Again older facility but updated as much as possible. Might stay again.

Booked a 1-night stay in a King "Deluxe" room for $160 including tax. Room was clean but a bit small. The A/C had a malfunction that made it not put out cold air, maintenance came by within 20 mins and fixed it.

My room has a window that is blocked entirely - by what sounds like jet engines that run 24/7. The noise level in my room is such that not even earplugs afford me relief. No sleep all night, only to find that the 6:00 breakfast (as noted in the room pamphlet)not actually available at 6:00. Its at 6:30 after our team has to leave. So no breakfast for any of us, no sleep for those on this wing....and had to pay extorsion to get my rental car. Unless i wanted to park blocks away in a public lot?!

Went to the Gunter for a wedding. Parking was expensive at the Gunter so we self parked across the street - easy and much more affordable. The hotel is very nice! The rooms are not huge, but are well furnished and very comfortable. The only issue I have is the bathrooms are just standard bathrooms, and for a nice hotel I would be looking for something a little nicer?

The woman at the front desk was neither friendly, nor helpful. The guy next to her was way better helping the other guests. The rooms could definitely use an upgrade. If you want a view, do your research. Mine was awful. The water wasn't hot enough and the water pressure really low. The pool is really small. Overall it was clean though and the location is great. Not sure what the heck was going on with the smoke alarm! The worst thing was, there's no coffee maker or coffee in the lobby! They said you can request one . I did when I first arrived. Nothing. The next morning I called the front desk. I was told they don't come in until 8:30, but there's a Starbucks across the street. At checkout, I still did not have a coffee maker!

The hotel was great, the staff was HORRIBLE!!!! I booked 2 rooms over a month prior to my stay and requested that they be next to each other. When I arrived, the rooms were not ready. Finally only one room was ready about 3 hours after I arrived to check in. Then about 45 minutes later the second room was ready, but was on a completely different floor. The front desk staff was unapologetic and unaccommodating, even though I had made reservation and request well in advance. The staff is the reason I will not book with the Gunter ever again!!!!

I don't like to give 4's as it seems too low in many cases but it's about right here. I don't mean that in a bad way but you get what you pay for generally in hotels and it's a solid value. The location is great as it's just a block from the Riverwalk, is next to a great restaurant in Bohanons and is easy to get in and out of.
My wife and I were very impressed with the staff and the internal restaurant and bar were easy options. The deli in the building had homemade deserts and a wide variety of easy eats.
The place has the feel of an old hotel but updated. Yes, the bathrooms are small and there's really no view but I thought it was clean and quiet enough, which I'm guessing plenty of the Riverwalk hotels aren't. We would stay here again.

It's an historic hotel with some key events that took place here (e.g. an important studio recording by Robert Johnson; headquarters of Robert E Lee during the Mexican-American war). The rooms feel a bit tired and need some maintenance and updating. The bedding was a bit hard and stiff, unlike some of the plusher options in the area.

The HVAC unit in the room would run every so often with a loud rattle, which made it impossible to get a restful night of sleep.

At least the service was good, as was the price. Friendly and helpful staff. Valet only parking for a steep price. We parked on the street a few blocks away for free overnight 6pm-8am (download the SA parking app so you can feed the meter at 8am from the comfort of your bed).

Initially, had some issues when I booked my room. However, the manager wrote me a hand written note apologizing for that. The room was very nice! Bed was comfortable. Staff were very polite. I very much enjoyed my stay. Location is great as well!

I stayed here over Veteran's Day weekend. The rooms in this hotel are clean and modern. I was worried it may have been loud being in the middle of downtown and them supplying earplugs in the room but it wasn't. The staff is nice and helpful. The hotel is in a great location with tons of things within walking distance.

I would say this hotel was definitely better than average.

Pros: Super comfortable bed and pillows, nice decor and charming historic character, water temperate was never an issue, customer service was prompt and friendly, everything was clean, noon checkout, great proximity to riverwalk, reasonably priced.

Cons: walls are thin so there was hallway noise late at night, quite a bit of light shines through the door from the hallway, room not as large as other hotels we stayed at but ample space for 2 people.

The hotel does offer valet parking come and go for $28 a day however there is a parking garage across the street that is way cheaper if you are not planning to come and go a whole lot. We have stayed in a lot of hotels and several that were more expensive than this one that we were very unhappy with. Overall we will stay here again if ever back in San Antonio and we highly recommend it for anyone wanting to stay near the riverwalk.

I made a reservation here the weekend of 4th of July. I figured it was going to be expensive and hardly any rooms but I was able to find a king deluxe. When I initially made my reservation the lady was so sweet I got her name but it was such a rare name I couldn't pronounce but thanks for the help. I drove in from Houston to San Antonio I got in earlier than expected. I got to the hotel at 11:30 ish. Drove up to valet parking don't get me wrong $28.00 is pretty expensive BUT I rather pay that knowing that my car is in good hands than the $12.00 that was across the street. The valet guys were pretty awesome helped me out with my bag to the curve and explained the whole valet process since this is the first time ever doing any type of hotel reservation or valet. Got it and asked the lady if I could check in she said that not till 3 which was fine because I wanted to go look around. I want to say the girls name was Michelle she was awesome! After waiting around for a good while I started to get tired and asked her again like at 2:15 if I could please check in. As opposed to her saying "no" she just said let me check if there is one available and we will get you in.. Luckily there was a King Deluxe she checked me in explained the process of checking out and sent me on my way. When I saw the room and the view I was beyond pleased!! I am not a SPG member I just received my points and now booking a room for my parents for this weekend and for a friend of mines bachelorette party for September because of the experience. Thank you for making it easy on a first time "traveler!"

Very nice historic hotel near the Riverwalk. This hotel is lovely, it has kept the historic look with modern updates. The room was spacious and hotel staff is phenomenal especially Mia at the front desk. I had some issues at check in not related to the hotel and she was fantastic. Location is 1 min walk to the Riverwalk and a 6 min walk to the Alamo.

Terrible service here- esp the valet staff. The valet staff is legitimately the most aggressive, hostile, and unprofessional people I've ever met. We did NOTHING to antagonize them and they treated us like garbage.

Beautiful hotel. Rooms are a little outdated, but still clean and inviting. Excellent location in the heart of San Antonio. The Alamo is a 10 minute walk away, the Riverwalk is a must, and there's plenty of stuff to do. Would highly recommend.

Room small. Closet ridiculously little. No view but building windows. Poor parking choice. No hotel shuttle provided Self contracted Go Airport shuttle had to let us out in traffic then bring our luggage to us on the curb.

The staff were extremely polite and helpful and the hotel was nice, the room was clean and comfortable, the only complaint that we were in a handicap room and the shower flooded the entire bathroom and never drained. Would stay here again though.

We had a gorgeous corner room on the 6th floor. While we did hear a bit of noise in the hall, it was far from the point of bothersome. The bed was clean and super comfy, and the shower was hot albeit confusing at first glance! Great end to a great date night!

Either there is something seriously wrong with the elevators or this place is haunted! I took video of the elevator stopping on numerous floors all on its own - buttons light up and go dim all by themselves!!! Hotel is a bit dated but I came here for the SPG Points ;)

Hotel cleaning staff stole a suit out of my closet and the management dropped the ball NUMEROUS times throughout the process of me reaching out to them to attempt to get it back. Watch your stuff at this place.

Standards: dirty windows, surfaces and broken TV and light have taken two days to "fix".
Location: noisy street with sirens, bus and homeless shouting up all night. The downtown location was unsafe / uneasy, the walk across the street for a coffee or pharmacy was a guaranteed encounter with a person begging for money or high on drugs.
Hotel and facilities: an uninspiring and dated environment provided no energy for the days.
Staff: no clean towels for two days, combative front desk staff and they shout at each other in the corridor outside my room.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I would give less stars if possible. I booked on priceline and thought I was getting a decent deal. What wasn't mentioned online is that they nickle and dime you once you've paid for the hotel and driven across the state to stay. For starters, there is a $32 REQUIRED valet parking fee. I could understand the rediculous fee if it were optional, but for it to be required without ever mentioning that in advance seems unfair. Then there's the ADDITIONAL $50 fee for incidentals, which also wasn't mentioned. So that brings the total to double what was originally planned for. Nice. But what are the incidentals for? A mini bar? A robe or missing towels? Nope. That fee is to cover the $2 water (left on the desk), the $1.50 fee for LOCAL calls (who still charges for local calls?!), and the daily charge for internet (which was represented as included when I reserved.)

Now the price gouging wouldnt be so terrible if it were for a truly nice hotel. But I've stayed in a nicer motel 6! For starters, no fridge. Ok, I get that, the discription didn't specify that, so that was understandable. After all, I can just go to the ice machine on my floor and get some ice to make my drinks cold, right? Wrong!! The ice machine is broken. Ok, then I'll just go down to the lobby and get a drink from the advertised "Starbucks". Wrong again. It's apparently not a real Starbucks and only offers limited options. Oh, but dont worry, you're welcome to walk across the street, in the freezing rain, to go to the real Starbucks.

Aside from the ice machine being broken, no fridge and being charged double, you better hope there's no fire in your room, because the smoke alarm is hanging by wires.

So basically, don't touch anything or you'll be charged, dont use the internet or phone, dont expect to eat or drink anything, and don't bother trying to sleep (because in the event of a fire, you'll die). Nice! Should have stayed at the motel 6!

Hotels down on the Riverwalk are expensive. That being said, we feel we got very good value here. This property is an old bank that has been rehabbed into a very nice hotel. Valet parking was easy as we had never done this at a hotel before. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The Drury properties offer a great breakfast - more than the usual offerings at other hotels. In addition, they have the happy hour kickback and meal. Each guest gets a pass to have 3 drinks each evening of their stay. This could be mixed drinks, wine, beer or on the rocks. My husband drinks scotch and they were pouring Johnny Walker Red so it's not your cheep rail booze. The food offered the evening consisted of a salad bar, make your own tacos or loaded baked potatoes, hot dogs, chips with cheese sauce and salsa and more that I can't remember. We ended up not eating our evening meal there instead of going to a restaurant. They also have free soda and popcorn in the afternoons. The room was great, the bathroom was very nice. Everything was very clean and nicely decorated. Their elevator goes to the basement area where you can walk right out to the Riverwalk. They have a rooftop pool and two hot tubs - the views were wonderful! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Drury Plaza.
