Great staff. Unfortunately, there was no small refrigerator nor microwave in the room. Also, no hot water for my morning shower. On a positive note, the breakfast buffet was glorious.
Old and beat up is the best words to describe this hotel!
Convenient to many activities. Expensive ish but with convenience is reasonable. Nice desk staff. Market on Houston - the restaurant - expensive. $17 each for breakfast bar you get free at many hotels. But again it's convenience for Alamo etc. And I checked. They have never been reported to have bed bugs... that is worth it...
My experience at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel was wonderful! The customer service was fantastic, guest services were quick, the rooms are great. Nice hotel downtown close to everything!
One of the most beautiful and historic hotels in san antonio, a must see place if you love history
Beautiful. In the center of town. Walking distance from everything. Comfy beds. Helpful receptionists will hold your bags for you and get you an early check in.Second floor pool. Basement barbershop. Coke machines. The mini fridges may be disguised. Lounge computers and complimentary breakfast.
The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Food at the in hotel restaurant is good and drinks are decently priced for the hotel. However, the staff really make the stay amazing with great customer service and attentive personnel.
This was a nice hotel, but the bathrooms were extremely small. Elbows hitting the wall while showering small. Staff was great and the hotel was clean.
The Sheraton Gunter is a very nice, clean, and pleasant hotel.
If you want a very nice upscale clean room this is the spot in San Antonio.
Cool old building with great history. Club lounge was a bit sparse. The decor is ok but probably due for some updates soon.
Easy, professional aND quiet..just how a vacation should feel..
This hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It's steps from the River Walk and very close to the Alamo and other local attractions. Plus two coffee shops right across the street! The room in which we stayed was small, particularly the bathroom; however it was not uncomfortable and was wholly adequate for the 3 nights we stayed. We loved Mark, who helped us keep our luggage safe while we waited to check in. Would definitely stay there again.
Great place. Note: it's downstairs in the Gunther Hotel. Lots of History.
Great location. Liked not being right on the Riverwalk but adjacent. Historic but not kept up. Dirty.
A but pricey but nowhere near as haunted as they claim it is
Excellent atmosphere, but the dj at the event was terrible. Dj men yo. Terrible.
Really lovely. Had drinks with friends downtown and stayed here. Fantastic service.
Our stay has been fantastic! The breakfast could use a little spicing up! The employees have been very hospitable!
Customer service was outstanding, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are dated, but are very comfortable. Room stayed very cool.
1. Can't get parking directions... concierge didn't understand that Houston street has no valet parking and unable to explain where I can just park and unload the car.
2. Night front desk. No greeting, no welcome... just asked if I had dl and cc after I told wanted to check in.. looked put out and sleepy. No "have a nice night" or anything usually associated with nice hotels. 11pm
3. Wanted ice... ice machine broken although sign says "ice machine in here"
4. Moved to 2nd room with king bed after I was told it is possible... clerk never asked if I prefer king or queen bed despite checking in with my wife. Had to change rooms... this one looks better and this room not moldy smelling. We are tired and it is late... driving all day
5. Next day room refuses to heat up.... have to call for engineer to come ... he says he will manually have to open or close some broken flap whenever I need to change from heat or cold... makes a big deal that cannot knock on door despite my calling and asking for help due to do not disturb sign still on doorknob to prevent maid from waking us up... says he cannot knock due to "company policy"... how about company policy of working heater? Welcome to hotel? People can give directions? No company policy to say "welcome" or ask preference for beds? Etc?
6. Getting fed up and wanted to speak with hotel manager... front desk said no manager can speak to me... can get call back in 5 minutes... 60 minutes later, no call.. now wife asleep having nap and promised call will wake us up... I see the problem... management doesn't care and it trickles down to uncaring employees, dysfunctional heaters, moldy smelling rooms... I suggest to everyone to consider motel 6 as they have heaters in rooms and generally friendlier staff and better correction of mistakes despite being lower star ratings...
This hotel has 4stars but in reality is just a decaying old building with staff and management that don't give a damn. Last year stayed at 3 star hotel near same area and had much better experience... hope this helps someone avoid disappointing stay when you perhaps want some luxury down time.
Clean, high-ceiling rooms, and walking distance from the Riverwalk. Won t take a star for it, but the restaurant/bar in the lobby wasn t all that impressive. Got a scallop risotto that would have made Gordon Ramsey storm the kitchen turn that poor chef into an idiot sandwich.
Friendly staff, dog friendly with a dog park down one block, close to the river walk attractions, the room was comfortable and clean.
We had fantastic time here, beautiful ,historic ,piano bar, great service
Hotel lovely, staff after I left and had questions about my parking, was totally shady
My wallet was stolen out of my vehicle while eating at the river walk and whem i tried to check into the hotel they would not allow it because my id was stolen... Needless to say i had already reserved the room and made my payment and they refuse to refund my money... This was mothers day weekend and my kids and I had to stay in a run down motel due to not having my id and due to the money charged to my card from this hotel!!!
Very outdated ,horrible view... You pay wayyyy more than what its worth, small beds, dirty sheets, dust everywhere , small restrooms, even the bathroom sink had some serious rust , and to top everything off the front desk guy was very rude ! I regret staying here could've picked another place !
Room was small, pool was even smaller. Only positive was location to be honest
Cool hotel with an interesting story. Enjoyed the bar and looking at some of the historical displays.
Great hotel and location right down town in the heart of the fun
Historic hotel with museum & Barber downstairs. Concierge lounge.
Moldy carpet, 15 minute wifi restriction in computer center, garbage trucks at 5:30 a.m., dirty air handler foul smelling. Don't bother.
Nothing special here. Pool sucks. Affordable during the week though.
Everything was fine. I had a problem with the key, but fix it quickly.
The hotel bistro is a fantastic lunch spot in the download area.
Beautiful hotel, however the rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade and better cleaning. There was toothpaste splatter on the walls of bathroom, chipping porcelain in the bathtub and no room to move in the bathroom. Bed was very uncomfortable and you rolled to the middle when you laid down. Nice staff, but won't be returning.
Excellent location in the heart of San Antonio. Banquet facilities exceeded out expectations.
Clean historic location. If you have 1 or 2 people in your party might be ok. Bathroom is horribly small and room itself isn't much better. Price for these accommodations was way to steep.
