We love Hotel Jen Penang. It was a delight to discover the adjoining rooms are connected as we were traveling with our parents.

The hotel is conveniently located with close proximity to shopping centres and good hawker food.

Amazing experience, from the rooms to the attentive service of the staff. The location couldn't be any better. It's right beside the KOMTAR central bus exchange, so you can ride the bus to any point in Penang. It's walking distance to almost all of the street art Penang has became known for, as well as all of the must-try street food stalls. Will definitely stay at Hotel Jen again, on future visits to Penang.

Very comfortable hotel in deed, a suggestion for improvement would be a larger bar fridge and some cutteries in the room. Staff are polite and helpful. We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed the location and convenience.
The komtar bus terminal is literally next door as well as 3 shopping malls. Chowrasta market, little India and other attractions are within 20min walk.

The housekeeping lady was fanstastic, she was quick in responding to my need about the extra bed lining when I complaint that the sofa bed was hard. She tried her best to make the sofa bed as comfortable as possible. Kudo to her!

I would give very good or even excellent if not for the long check in and check out and also it was difficult to get house cleaning done. It was no fault of the cleaners as they looked overwhelmed.

My partner and I had a great 4 night stay at this hotel, we chose the apartment which was very spacious and beautifully designed, with many modern facilities. There's Nespresso machine, microwave and 2 TVs that offer mirror screen functions from your devices. Bed is huge and comfortable. The room comes with lounge access which is on 16th floor, that's another nice place to hang out for the view and food. All the staffs are lovely and helpful, it's made the trip even greater because of that. It made us look forward to coming back just to chill and relax, instead of just merely a place to rest.

The newly renovated hotel was excellent. Well done. The staff remain friendly and professional.

The issues that we had all related to F&B, both in the Club Lounge and for dinner in the restaurant. In the club lounge, the food was delivered very slowly and was not up to expectation.

First a display on each table, indicated a "special omelette" but when we tried to order one, we were told that "we don't have the ingredients here and will have go down to get them' the inference being that it would take extra time. We then ordered basic omelettes. The promised sausages beside we're not initially served and the toast appeared only beneath the omelette. The next morning the lounge was busier but the omelette was cold (not warm but cold) after a 20 minute wait.

My wife and I had dinner one night in the restaurant off the lobby. Even though we were dining at 6:30 PM, the dinner broiled meats looked unappetising. They were over cooked, did not have the 'fresh prepared' taste. The food selection was poor and there were only a few leaves in the one chafing dish of vegetable. There was no chef on duty except for about 5 minutes during our entire 45 minute visit.

As we were staying inn the hotel to inspect the property, where we had successfully staid many times before, we were disappointed at these developments. The staff in the restaurant were convivial but it was clear that they told felt the deficiency.

This needs to be addressed

We stayed at JEN from 1/10 till 3/10.

We stayed at JEN from 1/10 till 3/10.
It was a hassle to carry our bags from the basement parking to lobby area. Saw a signage that says help is provided should we need one, but we carry it ourselves anyway and regretted that decision. Would advise other guest to drop their bags at lobby area or request for help to carry your bags from the basement.

Check in was quick. Received a care package with 1 mask for 2 occupants room. We bring our own supply of mask with us, but if the hotel is going to give a care package, why not make it sufficient.

The room is well decorated and clean. Amenities given is complete. Bed and pillow is comfortable. However the bathtub drain stopper is not working, so we cant use the bathtub, just shower.

The horror begins on the 2nd day. We booked the hotel for its location so we can travel on foot across Georgetown. After a tiring day, we came back to our room to rest in the evening. Only to have the guest on the upper floor running around and throwing stuff across the room. It was loud. But since its day time, we put up with it. But the noise carries on till night time till we have to call to receptionist for help. In 10 to 15minutes time we received call from the receptionist saying that the manager on duty has already spoken to the guest. The noise died down. Still there, but tolerable. This hotel have poor soundproofing. This has really affected our experience of staying at the hotel.

Other than that, before staying at the hotel I checked at the website that the gym runs 24hrs, I brought my running attire with me as I always run before breakfast. Unfortunately, breakfast at hotel starts at 7am and ends at 9.30am (last call). yet the gym only opens at 9am! This has affected my morning routine.

Breakfast dont have enough menu labels, we dont know what is being offered and the set is inconsistent. I requested for a western set and got an omelette, 1 sunny side up, 2 sausages and 2 hashbrowns. It was weird to why would the set have 2 eggs. But later i noticed other tables have beef strips instead of the sunny side up egg. Also the salad. The salad only have lettuce! no cherry tomatoes or croutons or onions or anything! just lettuce. just sad to see. Other than that, the staff provided good service and the food that we ate tasted good.

Also on weekend the parking is limited. Guest need to park across the street next to St Giles. cars are really fast there. They stationed a staff to help you cross the road. But really its a hassle when you have to cross a busy street whilst its raining.

I saw a huge progress in general compared to my previous visits. Your team is very friendly. Reception, breakfast and even on the floor or support - I really enjoy this.
The only reason why I am not rate my trip with 5 stars is, I haven't checked out/used all of your Hotel facilities (e.g. gym,swimming, dinner) to make a 100% decision.

Hotel Jen Penang is located strategically in the middle of Georgetown, where all the good stuff about Penang are at. This include several famous local foods, heritage places, and shopping malls. The room is hugh with king size bed, cable TV, and complete toiletries and the room rate is very reasonable. Free WiFi and good spread for breakfast. Highly recommended!

Its been sometimes since I last checked into this hotel. On my arrival when I was checking in I saw there are only to 2 receptionist attending to about 15 to 20 pax, I had waited a total of 15 to 20 mins before they can attend to me. My suggestion is the front desk should have a counter to serve group chk in., and the other suggestion is the hotel should had a hse maid in pairs of lady and man while they are cleaning up the room. Sometimes my wifw is alone in the room when they are cleaning up the room. Other then that every thing is satisfactory

Had a great 2 night stay here in Jen Penang.
The hotel is centrally located and reachable from many spots with Grab fee for less than 10 RM. The lobby is fresh with many seating areas and warm lighting, the crowd is fine too.
Check in experience was fast, however, not very welcoming and we were told the room has not ready yet after few mins waiting, then it suddenly became ready.
Bedroom came with 1 King sized bed and 1 sofa bed for family room, size was great and bathroom was clean with all amenities provided. The 1st night was quite annoying since my parents could not sleep well as they feel something biting from the bed, we told the front desk in the morning and they change everything right away.
Overall, the stay was nice, but hospitality of staffs can be enhanced considering this managed under Shangri-La and I guess most people expect the similar standard of service provided

The hotel staff are great! Helpful and more importantly, they all serve with a smile. From the front desk, concierge, club lounge to the Lobby Cafe. Thumbs up for the complimentary shuttle service to & fro Golden Sands Resort. The staff has arranged according to all my requests especially the room and the bed type prior to my arrival.

Fabulous stay, wonderful food, comfortable rooms. The location is very central so you can walk to almost anywhere in historic Georgetown or its just a few minutes' walk to the free bus for sightseeing. The staff is amazingly hospitable. The restaurant staff especially Nisha, remembered our coffee preferences from our first day at breakfast. They went a further step to make my mum's birthday memorable at the hotel, with a cake and singing. Special word of thanks to F&B manager Mr Indran who went out of his way to make us comfortable and tell us places to see and try.

When I am inside room 912, I can hear the flushing sound from the other rooms and it s quite loud.

Some of the room cards are not working well for the lift.

The return of deposit is via email but I have not received anything since 25 March.

I have paid 4 rooms tourism tax upon checked out but I only have received 2.

Jen Penang is one of the most tastefully done up hotels we have ever seen. Everything about the hotel is top class and looks like it has been personalised. This will feel more like a home than a hotel. We wish we had stayed here longer. Very helpful and prompt staff. We have excellent memories of our stay with Jen. I would highly recommend fellow travelers to experience their hospitality once!

The hotel is absolutely stunning and service is great!
However be warned that, at least at the time of writing, neither debit cards nor contactless payments are accepted, so make sure you've got your cash or credit card along. Had a colleague chasing around the place trying to find an ATM to fetch enough cash.

overall good. No bad experience with the hotel. The only thing is that I booked through golden circle at the price of Myr1161..68. The hotel charged to my credit card at Myr1173.30. Jen Hotel did not reply as GC said the local hotel i.e. Jen Hotel Penang will response to me. I am still waiting for the response.

Check in representative informed us we are assigned to city view. We are assigned to room 508 which does not have any view but a plain wall which is really disappointing with the mis-information. Informed the check out representative and she did not answer and avoided my statement by being busy in processing our check out. Though it is only for one night, I would not expect this kind of service.
Note : Both check in/out representative was the same person.

2. Bathroom.
There are strands of hair in the bathroom floor!

3. Bed sheet under the comforter.
Not clean with specks of dust. Woke up with allergies all over my body.

4. Breakfast.
Used to love the breakfast at Jen. This time round quality has dropped quite abit.

5. Concierge.
Very friendly and excellent service. Unfortunately I am not able to remember the gentleman's name. We were not sure of our way to Prangin Mall, he walked us to the venue to show us the way. This is what top notched service is all about - every little gesture counts.

6. Overall experience.
I had stayed in Jen Hotel in the past, service and quality was much better with exception to the concierge team which gave excellent experience.
As part of the Shangri-la group, I would assume the quality across the hotels should be consistent.
