It was not that historical, and my guide was so boring. It was not as good as you would think.
Very nice museum and theater, lots of history, books, gifts and a lot of neat stuff ant will make you say wow. Go see a live play there, you wont regret it.
Saw Merry Wives of Windsor. Very funny enactment, great actors and musicians, enjoyed it very much. Thoroughly recommend it to everyone.
Place was amazing. Saw midnight performance of macbeth. However never experienced such rudeness from a member of bar staff. Also i appreciate that it was late but every stuff member we came across was miserable.
Nice historic guided tour to learn Shakespeare and the theatre.
Seeing Shakespeare in its historical habitat is a wonderful experience.
Standing in The Yard you really get a glimpse of what it must have been like back in the 16th century.
The theatre is open top so bring water and a hat on a hot day!
This was my 2nd visit and my first during summer time. I saw Hamlet this weekend and was not impressed by the production. Another annoyance was the voices being drowned out by the regular passing overhead of commercial airplanes.
Definitely book a tour. The guides do that fantastic.
Replica of the theater as it was in the Shakespirian era
Great scenery near theatre and the area provides a breath of fresh for mini lunch break walks if you love to walk.
Great performers, actors and production. I saw the 12th night at Bodleian Library in Oxford, great atmosphere and location. I definitely recommend it.
A absolute must for any Shakespeare lover. The new inside theatre is just beautiful with gold painted murals lit in candlelight
Enjoyed the guided tour - really informative and enthusiastic guide. Enjoyed the matinee performance of "All's well" at the new indoor, candlelit theatre- really great atmosphere, acting and production.
Very neat, even for a non theater lover. They do a great job bringing this alive. The tour guides are awesome.
A far cry from the boring Shakespeare that you had to read at school. What a wonderful cast of characters who really made it come to life, the interaction between the cast and the audience is how I imagine it was in Shakespeare's time. Entertaining irreverent and funny. It is WELL worth going.
Cult place for lovers of literature and theater. Here you can feel the real presence of Shakespeare
Well done recreating this theatre.! I will visit again and I will come and watch the plays in this theatre!!
Great theatre. Looks like original - inside & outside. We saw a great play, "Mid-Summer's Night Dream" and had a spectacular time.
Took the tour of the theatre; our guide was funny, warm, down to earth, and able to really make us learn and understand the history and story behind the Globe. A great place to visit with friends who want a crash course in some English tradition in the heart of the capital
Such a great venue, I've seen so many of the bards tales bought to life in a lively and one of a kind venue, be brave and stand in the pit immersive experience
Great experience seeing three different Shakespeare plays on three consecutive days performed by the same cast - so impressive! The staff are friendly but very strict with the rules and the refreshments are reasonably priced.
Reasonable talented actors. Contemporary direction and customs. The proper experience means exposition to the five elements, take coats in case. Together with a cushion - or hire one there, as benches can be difficult after one hour.
I had to go at night. What a beautiful place. Sit on the benches that overlook the river and fall in love with London.
Watching a Shakespeare play in the Globe is truly an awesome experience. A must for people who enjoy Shakespeare.
Entertaining, educational and stimulating. The tour doesn t take too long and if you re lucky to get an amusing guide, the tour gets even better.
Visit the real globe Teather (even if rebuilt) after having seen for years that of villa bourgeois in Rome, makes you grasp the difference of the spirit
Absolutely loved it! A wonderful way to experience the bard's work with the most fantastic actors, caution you can be exposed to the elements so come prepared!
Definitely worth a visit. The museum is good but if you can see a performance here. It s part of the atmosphere to stand under the open sky for the whole performance.
Such a great atmosphere and setting. Saw Hamlet last week and it was absolutely incredible!
Our guide was amazing. In 30 minutes he was able to give us enough information to feel confident about sharing our tour with others. Would return 10 out of 10 times.
Best for those who already know the plays, as going back hundreds of years in theater tech makes it hard for novices to follow some of the finer points
NIGHT HATH A THOUSAND EYES.....
There is nothing in the world, and I mean nothing, that compares to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
It is an exact replica of the original which stood about a 1/4 of mile more in land.
It's the only building in London allowed an actual thatched roof since The Great Fire of London in 1666.
And it's open air (especially) night-time space is the most romantic and enthralling of any theatre in London.
Standing as a groundling is the experience for everyone to get a sense of what it was like when Shakespeare's play was originally performed.
I've been visiting this theatre since it opened in 1997 and as much as you should of course see a Shakespeare play here it's also filled with amazing alternative productions too.
My most recent visit, saw the always entertaining and innovative, Kneehigh Productions version of Michael Morpurgo's "946 The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips" (August 2016).
A classic example of a modern play being laid out as a Shakespearean stage. Using live music, puppetry and audience engagement.
Go, you won't be disappointed.
Shakespeare Theater, interesting, no need to book in advance, it is worth going to the Taroga with children, briefly explains the history of London
Really informative guides, great to hear about the history behind the Globe and to be able to be in it. Cool way to spend a couple of hours! Would definitely recommend the guided tour. I was pleasantly surprised with my trip!
What a place .
A must see if in London. Fantastic experience
It is a theater reconstructed in the name of Shakespeare is made entirely of wood and the performances are made outdoors. This place is part of the London Pass, so there you can save on tickets. There are guides every 30 min. that you are detailing how was the history in the time of Shakespeare. It is in an excellent location at the start of the Millennium Bridge. It is worth visiting if you are interested in learning about London art.
We had a wonderful tour with Gerard. Very amusing and super interesting and informational.
The cast was versatile and powerfully passionate. Hardly noticed that I was standing for over two hours!
Interesting for the history. If you can stand on cement for 3 hours then being a grounding for cheap tickets is an experience.
Excellent atmosphere, sound effects, decor and play. Really impressed, well done chaps!
Matt was an excellent tour guide, funny and personable. Well done all around, very worth the visit.
To get in we took the guided tour which lasts 44 minutes it was nice to have explanations of the place and its history. The tour is in English.
The tour is guided in English and if you don't speak English you have to put up with the whole thing, you can't see it without listening to the guide.
The amphitheatre dedicated to Shakespeare was completely rebuilt. The audience stood watching the drama, throwing flowers when they liked it. When the plane passed by, even the actors dialogue must be silent for three minutes. In summer, the daylight grew slowly, and it was not dark until ten o'clock. Tonight s play was Hamlet.
Fantastic, one of a kind experience. A must if you are in London
Beautiful theater but impossible to understand a piece if you are not English native.
A great way to experience Shakespeare. I watched Midsummer Night's Dream and found it thoroughly enjoyable. A must-visit if you are in the area.
I wish for the life of me I could remember our tour guide's name because he was obviously passionate about the Globe. I learned a great deal and came away with a new perspective on how Shakespeare should be performed. Definitely recommend a visit!
You must go. It is a fantastic experience. Make sure you book a cushion though!
While the Globe Theater itself has great Elizabethan ambience, if you're thinking to book Henry IV (Hotspur) or Henry V (Falstaff) for summer 2019, consider this: The current Globe management will subject you to a prolonged exercise in political correctness by casting women in men's roles. That's right, women will play Hotspur and Falstaff. In summer 2018 women played Hamlet and Horatio, and either Rosencranz or Guildenstern was played by an actor who we were asked to believe was mute, as he used only sign language on stage. And of course Ophelia was played by a guy. This is trendy and oh, so morally superior and caring, but I'm sorry, it does not produce satisfying drama. I am well aware that boys played women's roles in Shakespeare's day, but I would not find that appealing either. So if you're among the sane minority who believe that women and men are different, and vive la difference, skip the Globe and go see A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Regents Park. It's cheaper and much more comfortable. And the play will not suck you into neomarxist sanctimony about gender equivalence.
Always great to come and catch a show here. If you are visiting London, make this a definite stop. And come by a bit early to grab a pint and the pub next door.
Make sure to bring warm clothes and a blanket, even during some summer nights.
Wonderful experience venue. Good shows at reasonable ticket prices. Audience participation is encouraged and real brings the theatre closer.
Gives a nice insight into the theater life at times of Shakespeare. Guided tour and explanation from a great guide. Combine this with Stratford and you are completely at it.
