Truly the only way to understand Shakespeare is to visit this Recreation of the Globe Theater. Be sure and take a guided tour in the daytime and attend a show in the evening. The best seats in the House are on the first floor with your back against the wall. That way you get back support. All the other seats are simply benches. The Groundlings will stand in front of the stage, a cheap ticket but you must be able to stand for a couple of hours. Also the Groundlings are not undercover so if there is any rain they will be rained on. Spend the extra money and get the cushion. Well worth it

As a theater actor, there is no better place in Lo fra that I could visit. A unique and exciting place. A reconstruction of that theater trampled on by greats like Shakespeare. A concept of theater totally different from the traditional Italian one, which manages to leave you speechless. Of course, the classic Italian theaters are far from it and certainly much more spectacular, but this has its own charm. Definitely a stop to do.

I can think of no better way to enjoy theatre - as it was written by a great author, and experienced in the same way he had envisaged.

If not familiar with the play, I suggest brushing up before you attend. Medieval English isn't as straightforward to follow.

The bar is pricey.

Tried several times to get in touch with their development/events department to book a private tour and dinner, but no one returns your calls, the staff in the department are a joke, and not entirely sure how they have managed to secure a job. They work with The Swan restaurant and I was hoping to have my dinner in their private room, but on enquiring separately I was astounded to discover the date had not been secured by Shakespeare s Globe, so I was completely misinformed!

Although there was little time to visit it, breathing in the magical atmosphere that surrounds Shakespeare is simply magnificent. We also did the tour of the theater with a very nice guide and in an absolutely exceptional way he made us go on stage. Magnificent

An incredibly unique experience that just can t be missed. I went to see a live illustration session by Chris Riddell in the playhouse theatre, and it just felt magical. The candles hanging from the ceiling are completely real - nothing fake in such an authentic place as this! The restaurant was lovely too, with a nice range of drinks and food. You have to go here at least once in your life, Shakespeare fan or not!

Really worth a visit; a lot of history and the only building in London with a thatched roof ... Completely reconstructed on the basis of both archaeological finds and tradition. The guides tell a lot about the history of the building, its use and real shows are given in the summer. Magnificent.

Beautiful location! Amazing to see how the building captures the memory of old times. Instantly transported to the movie Shakespeare in Love sadly though extremely busy during the week, lots of schools who also want to visit.

Went to see much ado about nothing. Was expecting shakespear but got a mexican musical. Interesting. Theater is factual recreation. Unfortunately people are twice as large as they were back then. Very uncomfortable. Dont eat at the swan i had a very bad case of food poisoning.

Had a fabulous experience here seeing A Midsummer Nights Dream with my kids. Brilliant show with amazing talents. Highly recommend going - an absolute must do . I am so impressed how they managed to bring Shakespeare to life and more so make it so accessible to young kids! Well done.

Big thank you to all the staff and security for helping to find an item ist by my child. Over and above with their kindness and help. Thank you.

If you visit London, the Globe needs to be on your schedule. The tour was great, quite informative and engaging. And that is according to the 16 year old and nine year old.

You get a great sense of the history and zeitgeist walking through the museum. It helped my whole family to appreciate the rest of our visit to London, as so much of what was happening at the Globe was commenting on the happenings of the day.

Looking forward to actually seeing a production at the theater on our next visit.

Always an amazing experience at the Globe, whatever the weather. Intense, engaging, frivolous, thought-provoking, clever and funny; there is nowhere better to enjoy Shakespeare's entertainment than this wonderfully evocative South Bank location.

Absolutely fantastic tour of the Globe!

Our guide was very enthusiastic and for that reason made the tour more interesting.
Definitely recommended!

Incredible place to visit. The museum paired with the tour is amazing. It is cool that the theater is still running. I only wish the tour included more than just the Globe, there is so much to learn about Shakespeare I wish to hear about.

I love this place because you can learn English history and culture. Recently, I was here together with the school and the service was very nice and knows stories at a good level. Around the theater there are beautiful views such as the river and a view of the City of London.

Although rebuilt not so many years ago, the Globe follows as closely as possible the information that has come from the past through texts or drawings. The guided tour (highly recommended) is proposed by internal staff, often actors, who involve the public by explaining history and anecdotes with real passion!
The museum is also very beautiful and comprehensive. The sound documents are very interesting (from the early twentieth century to today) which reproduce famous songs taken from representations with famous actors, from Sir Laurence Olivier, to Marlon Brando, Judi Dench etc.
Not to be missed if you come to London!

Biased. Was performing there in a community event . A great sense of 'old' as audience is up close and mobile in the 'yard', the tiered and semi circular seating keeps most folk dry. Staff always polite, moderate foods snd I love the minted/lemon flavoured water offered. Not found anything to fault yet.

Good performance of Henry V at the Globe last night. Not a play I am familiar with, so difficult for me to follow in places due to the Language of Shakespeare, but very well acted and the Synopsis in the Programme helped me to understand the plot. A cushion to sit on is essential, either bring or hire one.

Whilst I did not go on a tour or watch a show, just viewing the history from the outside was enough. It is in a perfect and easily accessible location close to a number of other historic and famed landmarks. I would highly recommend if you are unable to tour it or attend a show at least walk by and admire it.

Paid for the tour via Visit London and got ripped off. Go straight to the Globe to buy your tickets. The tour is well worth doing, IF the guide is as talkative as ours was. She made what was really quite a boring venue interesting by giving amusing anecdotes and historical facts.
