Interesting piece of history (although this is only 20 odd years old as the actual globe was 200 meters to the right of the current site). The tour is informative and the guide kept making is laugh (even if he did sound a tad drunk). Would love to visit again and buy a seating ticket rather than in the grounds as it is exposed to the elements.

A now famous landmark along the Southbank of the Thames. On first impressions, the building from the outside can look a bit "Disneyish", but that's probably more to do with what Disney copy than its authenticity. Underwent extensive restoration in the 1990's and is now a great way to spend a few hours. It's an open air theatre, so best experienced in good weather.

Seeing the reconstructed old theater It reminded me of my university studies on Shakespeare and the Elizabethan drama. The cries of all sort of class:low, middle and upper class. The fights between parties. The use of plays and drama to attack the power , poetry, philosophical thoughts, and amusement.

I mean, what can I say? You honestly can't beat the Globe. I am a Shakespeare lover and my husband and I saw Comedy of Errors. The cast was awesome and the fact that their voices were not electronically amplified actually made the experience more authentic. We stood in the yard the whole time and it was actually quite fun. Apart from the occasional helicopter or airplane, I felt transported back to the 1500s. The gift shop is great, too.

This place isn't simply a tribute to a foremost classic where theatre plays are held. It is a place where ground breaking performances are hosted. I went and saw Merchant of Venice and it was one of the best plays I've seen, from the acting to the atmosphere and from the venue to the staff and surroundings it makes for an unforgettable day in London's southbank. I CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH! Do not miss!

Wonderful place, perfectly preserved, one of the most beautiful and rich in history in London. Very entertaining theatrical performances. Absolutely to visit! I also recommend staying to watch a play. Opposite there is also a splendid view of modern buildings, which contrast with this reconstruction. Unique and magical place.

Great spot. Although it's not where the original globe was, it still feels so authentic and cool. Tour was great, got to go into the theatre and everything. There were no tickets for the day's performance when the tour began but i checked in again when I left and there was one returned which was amazing! Great value (pit tickets were 5 pounds!), great theatre, great staff.
Gift shop is also full of cool things.

Great throwback into history, living the full experience (cleaner and more civilised though I guess) of medieval theater play. The crew is talented, the plays are witted, the location is very central, perfect to plan a stop in a touristic day visit. I loved it! I watched Henry V in June 2019.

As it says on the tin - rounded object what does Shakespeare. If you're standing in the yard, be mindful of the open roof if the forecast is for rain. Whether it be comedy or tragedy, you're in for a treat.

Saw Othello at the Globe and Love s Labour s Lost at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse last September. Both fantastic performances, I especially recommend seeing one in the Playhouse as it s entirely candle-lit and an incredibly beautiful location.

My wife and I recently visited our local cinema to see a production of Midsummer Nights Dream, from the Globe. As I know nothing about the play I expected, as would be normal in the theatre, for the characters to be introduced in some way, the scene set, etc. The opening scenes were incomprehensible and appeared to be some sort of a fight, impossible to understand, then after a while actors began to appear in strange costumes, I now know these to have been the King and Queen of the fairies but only because of research carried out later. A character called Bottom suddenly appeared wearing a donkeys head, no explanation for it was given, I could go on and on. Add to this the way in which the main characters spoke at great speed in a strangely forced and shoutty manner so that the dialogue was largely impossible to follow and you may begin to understand why we left at the interval. I wonder if anyone involved in the production could offer some explanation.

Went to see Midsummer Night's Dream. Fantastic production. Had modern twists which made it humourous. The Globe is an experience. I stood. I leaned against a post, which worked. But it meant I could experience it very reasonably.

I hesitated until my last afternoon to visit the reconstructed Shakespeare Theater and I did not regret a second. The fascinating guide, brought us back by its stories in the suburbs and the London atmosphere of Shakespeare's time. Nice visit

Excellent play we got into the cheap stand-up places at the back of the port side. Why did they place some of the scenes right under us where even the people in front of us couldnt see, when the centre of the stage was empty? Great fort those on the starboard side but rubbish for us.

Loved the experience of seeing a Shakespeare play at the globe. It was hard work standing and when two of the younger members of our party had to sit on the floor (or drop) the staff swooped in from knowhere to make them stand. There was something unfriendly about the way it was done. We got through the performance which was great and have now 'done' that experience, so no need to go again. If you do go, get a place in the seated area.

Always interesting although views from most affordable seats are restricted. Henry VI was interesting although I could not bear the strong US accent of one of the actors - it does not work with Shakepeare. I also found the gender fluidity added nothing but confusion.

Excellent experience! You are transported into Elizabethan England and experience what being in a theatre at that time must have been. Both the museum and the exhibition are worth doing.

Great

Absolutely incredible.

Absolutely incredible.
Rebuilt to the highest of standards from the inside and out. Really feels like you are back watching Shakespeare put on his play for the first time.

Wow!

Nice experience, went with my wife to see Romeo and Juliet. We thought the play was going to be executed old-shakespearian-style, but were amused to find the contrary. The script was in old style English, but the elements of the play were not.
We had bought tickets for the East Tower, a couple of seats in section J of the second floor, right in front of the stage. We made the mistake of choosing our seats too close to the end of the row and I ended up with less than half of my view being blocked by a wooden column.

All in all, a wonderful experience, we'll definitely go back!

This was my first time there and I took my own cushion. It was late in the season so it was rather cool but not freezing. The venue itself was just brilliant. The only let down was the number of staff catering for all

I spent an afternoon here with a school group of 10 year olds. The youngsters got their own guide who explained the theatre to them in terms they understood and introduced Macbeth, the play they are studying, into the picture. Everyone was very enthusiastic and a great, educational time was had by all.

I actually helped during the final stages of the build, working with its architects, Pentagram, while working for Modelbox, part of the White Light stage lighting company. Working from Pentagram's design drawings and also surveys that I carried-out on site, I created 3D interactive digital visualisations using what were then pioneering techniques to be used to assess sightlines and final positioning of the columns that would support the heavens above the stage.
I enjoyed some lovely afternoons, sunbathing during my breaks, on the not yet completed roofing above the seating.
The Globe is an amazing space. A forum for the craft of theatre that enables its true power to be experienced by audiences and performers alike.

Terrible production of Hamlet with Gender role reassignment. However if that was not enough to contend with, the acting was wooden, no passion or connection with the audience. Direction and production could have been bettered by a primary school child. Not a nice experience and incorrectly advertised. Actor abused an audience member and threw cup of beverage on their face! -appalling abuse of audience member who could have sustained an injury. Seating awkward and constrained. An insult to Shakespeare. Such a shame.
