Every month I try to pay the premium for myself and my wife online. Every month I can't get into my wife's account. Then I go through the telephonic prompts, 2 or 3 customer service people (who usually can't correctly take my credit card number) to pay. Their online capabilities are horrible.

They don't even deserve 1 star. This is the WORST insurance company!!!! They will not cover ANY of my medications even after drs have told them I need it. My copay for all my prescribed meds are over $700 per month. Worst part is when I called in they refused to cover an inhaler for asthma saying it was not a "life saving" medication. Do not go with this company!

I have had only the most positive experience with SelectHealth since switching to it a few years ago. Two surgeries with overnight stays in hospital in two years and my costs were $200 and $395 respectively. My premium is minimal due to the excellent coverage options of my former employer, as are my co-pays. When I've required information or assistance in locating a specific provider, they quickly assisted me getting the answers. I hope I can stay with SelectHealth forever! Being part of Intermountain Health Care is an added plus for me too.

I did not expect to receive a prescription pre-authorization review any time soon as the IHC Community pharmacy tech told me to call the pharmacy 48 hours from today to see if the new transplant medication was preapproved. Later this afternoon I followed up on a message left on my cell. I called back around 5pm and the approval person was very professional making sure of the drug, that my insurance was accurate/verified and then told me the medication had been approved. Notifocation and drug approved in less than four hours not 48 hours! Thank for your quick work and a staff person who was a delight!

So I got an explanation benefit from them and this was when I was on transition plan. They didn't really say that the plan won't cover preventive health care, so I went to give my son some vaccine shots. Little do I know, they didn't cover anything and now I have to pay out of pocket for $300. I talk to them, they said nothing they can do. I really don't trust this company or any insurance company out there. They just want you to pay them and then they don't cover you.

Crooked company. High premiums, poor coverage and...

Crooked company. High premiums, poor coverage and yet we have to fight denials all the time. Even their member services rep admitted that we pay way to much for the plan we have. So many times we have questioned the coverage they provided, only to find there were "oversights" and coverage ended up being applied. If we did not spend hours investigating every claim submitted we would be out thousands more than what we already pay. I am beginning to believe they do it on purpose to see if people will appeal or just trust them and let it go. They tried to deny us coverage on a huge procedure because they said my company did not renew at the first of the year. I spoke with the HR director and she informed me we have renewed every year for years. After she and our benefits company spent their valuable time proving we renewed, just like we do every year, we got a heartless apology from SelectHealth and they covered it. After our daughter broke her finger, we went to an Instacare where we were referred to PMC, an IHC Inc. facility. We spent hours at PMC for a broken pinkie where we ended up being scheduled for a a surgery that they wanted to perform at the U of U hospital. When we spoke with the administration at PMC we were assured that the surgery at the U would be covered in network. Keep in mind that PMC and SelectHealth are both owned and operated by IHC Inc. When we checked in at the U of U for surgery we asked the same question and received the same response. Now we are receiving statements that are being billed out of network. When I called SelectHealth MS they told me that it was my responsibility to check with them on EVERY procedure to ensure that it is covered. When I explained that it doesnt seem right that an IHC employee working at an IHC facility would send an IHC insured individual to another hospital and tell them that its covered in network, the representative basically said he didn't care and it was my fault. We spoke with the billing specialist as the U of U who was livid with SelectHealth. She stated that they have a contract in place for cases specifically like this so that surgeries can be performed between PMC and the U hospital without causing issues. These are just a couple examples of many. I have had half a dozen insurance providers over the years and IHC (aka SelectHealth) is by far the worst.

1 star is too high. Don't even bother wasting your time when thinking about choosing this as your provider. There rates go up about every year. We switched to a barely less expensive plan than what we had last year, and now our prescriptions cost $30 more and the co-pays are not covered until you spend at least $4,000.

I have the most expensive plan available for our family and it's still terrible. I recently found out that they don't even cover relationship counseling. They cover individual, after you meet your entire deductible. Mental health is of no concern to Select Health.

I know working with insurance comes with the immediate thought of dread and knowing it will be a hassle. My experience today could not have been farther from that. Although it s never a fun call to make, I felt I was given exceptional service and help. I put off making the call all day because I knew it would be a pain. It was simple and the gal who helped my was very kind and patient. Our problem was solved and I got off the phone very happy.

The people in customer service are super nice, but I haven't been able to get a simple problem resolved. My deductible has been satisfied for some time, but I have several hundred dollars in expenses that Select Health claims should go against my deductible. The HSA provider claims it is Select Health's problem. The result is that I get to pay several hundred more for healthcare than my policy requires simply because I can't continue to spend time on a problem that no one seems to understand.

We re (still) unable to log into our policy account online or via the app which was a big selling point choosing this provider. We ve called about it twice now and the best the rep could say was, I can t log into my personal health insurance either..

Easiest Insurance Ever! Their online platform makes it easy to understand what is coming down the line. I was hospitalized for almost a month during my pregnancy and had an emergency c-section 82 days before my birthdate, giving birth to a 2 pound baby. I had absolutely no problem with them giving me the coverage promised in my plan. With all the stress I was under physically and emotionally, being able to rest easy knowing my insurance was not going to be a stressor to me was 100% invaluable. Just got the last of the bills - my hospital stay was over $80,000 and my baby's NICU for two months was nearly 1/2 a million - and I am having no trouble with the doctors being out-of-network or things not being covered - I just have to pay Intermountain my out-of-pocket maximum (which is stressful, but nothing compared to 1/2 a million) and my perfect baby and I can focus on what really matters - getting to know each other! Thank you SelectHealth!

They need to come into the 21st century and start doing things like all National insurance brands. We have had multiple incidences where either we go to a select health provider and they pull the one doctor in the ER to see you while you re having a heart attack that isn t covered or you go to buy your prescription and they don t allow the cheaper 90 day supply they require you waste your time every 30 days not to mention they get an additional $15 per 3 months from you for the monthly pay out vs 90 day prescriptions. These are just two of many examples.

They are morons. Unfortunately, I have required a great deal of medical care and I have preferred to use IHC facilities as they are close to home and it is the insurance that my husband is forced into by his company, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I don't have complaint about my care, but the combinations of hospitals and doctors and clinics under the umbrella of their own insurance is a nightmare. You go to their own people in their own facility and still the insurance denies the charges. The argue with themselves. It is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in health care and I have worked in health care all of my adult life. Again, I have no complaints about most of the physicians, of course some of them are definitely better than others, you find that anywhere, but its after you are done and their own insurance doesn't want to pay their own doctor for services performed on you in their own hospital or clinic.
Then, the insurance company sends me a letter on a drug that needs prior authorization, instructing me exactly how they want to fill the prescription, so I have my Dr. write it the way they ask and go to the pharmacy, it is denied. When I call asking why they denied the drug, she says because you tried to fill two different strengths, well, I say that's exactly what you told me to do in the letter. Morons.

They have descent customer service compared to other insurance companies. However, I recently got a new job that provides insurance through Select Health. As part of my new insurance agreement, I get to be on a Share plan, which basically means I have to do all of this extra stuff (participate in online activities, go through mandatory health screenings, etc.). They have no way of tracking whether or not any of the information I enter into the online database is true either, so I could just lie and say I did something that I didn't really do. If my co-workers who are also on the plan choose not to participate in the activities, then all of our rates will go up. They claim the purpose of all this is to keep rates low and improve overall community health, but I'm not paying any less than I was before I signed up for this BS plan. Plus it's high deductible, so I'm basically paying for 100% of costs out of pocket anyway in addition to now having to waste my time on all the extras. Do NOT get a share plan. It's a total waste of time, and it isn't going to save you anything.

Select Health is by far the WORST health insurance company I have ever used. Unfortunately, it is what is provided through my place of employment right now. The monthly premiums are 8 times higher for my family then the last insurance we had through my wife's work! To date they have refused to pay on multiple MD ordered treatments, stated they weren t indicated, what! A specialty MD thought they were - you don't have the right to "practice medicine"... Co-pays are large and coverage is very poor. STAY AWAY!!!

Update: I added a star because Matthew was so helpful when I called. He, too, could see the notes relating to my attempt to get my account set-up properly. I guess I will see if it works next month? Previous Post: I really appreciate how quickly you process provider charges and and payments; and you staff is VERY nice...But, it seems that you do not have any employees who know how or what to do to set-up automatic payment plans. Can you explain to me WHY I cannot get you to set-up my automatic premium withdrawal properly? I am really tired of late notices because of a billing or software problem on your end. Is there someone who can set-up my account properly! If not, please send a premium notice each month. I think it's ridiculous getting late notices when the mistake is on your end!

I am not sure that this company even rates one star. I have coverage through my work, but I can't afford to cover my children through that route. Select Health seemed to be affordable and for decent coverage. However, I have paid for two months premiums and have not even yet received cards for two of my three children. I am not "authorized" to talk to a representative about my childrens' accounts, even though two of the three are minors. My daughter called tonight in tears because apparently she is not covered under any policy with Select Health (despite the fact that two months have been paid for) and therefore cannot get her diabetes supplies. I just hope that they will cover a portion of the hospital bills when she lands there, due to having no insulin. (And don't tell me to call one of your representatives so they can "try and help." Been there, done that.)

I have been insured with Selecthealth for 25 years and have been completely satisfied. Whenever I have had questions about coverage or finding a provider it has been so easy to pick up the phone and talk with a helpful and professional customer service representative. I love the My Health feature that is available and I use it quite often. I find it to be very user friendly, and is full of helpful information concerning health care. I hope to always have Selecthealth available to me because they are simply there .

If I could give negative stars I would. I am a type 1 diabetic and this is the hardest insurance company I have ever had to deal with. They have denied me medically necessary equipment, charge me hundreds of dollars a month, and cover hardly any of the cost of supplies. I pay hundred of dollars on top of the cost of their premiums after they pay what their part. Now I have been put in a dangerous situation when my health can suffer more due to their decision.

Worse insurance. Worse. And that's coming from someone that works with Select Health. They quick to threaten to stop your insurance when they don't follow their own policy. WORSE, WORSE!!!!! I paid my payment twice in one month and they were suppose to refund my money, never got the check. Called them back and they say that they will apply it to the next month, never did. Come 3rd month, I called them back and they put my account on hold because they claim that I didn't pay the last 2 mths. I kept saying that I can email my account statement to prove that it was pay but nope. The guy kept saying, unfortunately no. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! bunch of thieves. changing insurance

I've had a terrible experience with SelectHealth, seems like the whole company operates like a square wheel. For the most part the staff is decent (though I had to deal with an employee from hell once). My biggest complaint is their billing department and rates. And how frequently they raise those rates. I asked for an explanation once as to why my premium went up twice in one year and their answer was " that's just the nature of insurance". Their online chat is buggy, random ends chats and can't text wrap so the convo is displayed weird and When I call them I usually get transfer a time or 2 before i get to someone that can help.

Amy was great! I had a million and one questions about the different plans and she was patient and explained everything to me. The customer service at Select Health is absolutely great. That s pretty hard to find with an insurance company.
