Unfortunately our experience was a nightmare. Their intentions were good but the fact that they refused to believe the patient and parent led to an emergency room visit followed by a five day stay in the hospital treatment for an eating disorder that didn't exist. They used a parents fear to get me to agree to the hospital. The patient had no symptoms of an eating disorder, her lab work was normal, but she had a low heart rate (which had already been checked by cardiology back in August).

She also is extremely athletic and they refused to consider that the rate could be normal. We didn't even know we were going to be treated for an eating disorder until we were in the hospital room and they started telling us all the "rules" we had to follow. I was so confused I thought we were there to watch a heart, but they decided it had to be an eating disorder because it was their specialty.

I protested the whole time but they just changed the terms from; "eating disorder", to "malnutrition", to "energy imbalance". Five days of bed rest, restricted food, restricted water, and it was't until I complained loud enough and demanded a cardiologist, before they actually talked to the patient.

I would never ever recommend this place as they feel they know best, they can't be wrong, and don't listen. They treated us like prisoners and liars and wouldn't and even stated that cardiology was wrong, when we were there to look and watch the patients heart. They seem to know more about the heart than cardiology? They had NO evidence to support their diagnosis and every time they tried to give one we could explain it but they just dismissed us because they felt we were not telling the truth. The damage this has done to the patient is long lasting and devastating.

Nice place. Very nice doctors and nurses. They all treat you nice when you are their. I have gone here ever since I was a baby. The place is still the same but more updated and they are adding on. They have one new building and building another one. When you have to go to the doctor on your birthday they give you a little present for your birthday. The play room in the main building is amazing for kids of all ages. You can even go outside and play. They have a swimming pool too.

I recently broke my wrist at a soccer tournament at Starfire. It s about a half hour drive to Seattle Children s from Starfire but it s worth the drive. Seattle children s has excellent staff and services. Definitely the best hospital in the state, with UW Medicine as a close second.

Always pleasant. Love the playroom for other children to play in when one is being seen. Just wish it was open through the lunch hour as my Grandsons appointment goes through that time and corraling two active children for that hour is a challe6in the hall. Love the fish tanks.

16 yr old daughter had a very serious case of H-pylori that her local gastro sent to SCH for post treatment healing help . After 9 months of procrastination and appt's where the Dr never showed , SCH finally said we need to get another opinion. They were convinced it was all in our heads. Child looked like death and was giving up. Local gastro was disgusted as were we . They let minors refuse treatment which is going to make things worse and it did . It was really never made clear to us who we were seeing , I thought we were seeing a gastro team and it turns out they were psychologists ..jeez my god .. Even their ER Dr there was appalled at her lack of treatment when we had to take her back one day after her sudden check out . We finally just took her home and I researched enough on google to help get her healed up the rest of the way and it was extremely tough . She is fair a year later , still HP neg but not the same . SCH had me cancel a very important scope scheduled locally because they were going to do one , after 3 months I rescheduled again locally on my own and like we thought , she had gastritis and esophagitis from the H pylori treatment Her stomach and esophagus were shredded from the treatment and it was not in our heads after all . Simply having a tough time healing . She couldn't eat or drink well at all and was in a tremendous amount of pain and we are insulted they thought all of us were crazy and I didn't appreciate her being shoved off on a herd of psychiatrists . No rx meds for home or pain management or finding out the CURRENT extent of the gastritis , they just knew it was gone w/o looking . IF you advocate for your child , all of you will be checking out shortly . Just sit and be silent if it is bad enough that you know your child needs to be there .
Upon check out they cancelled all of our follow up appts they'd made the day before at the team meeting with my husband. I used to love this hospital . Now I'll never go there again . Been a mom for 36 years and it is hard to do, but they managed to shock and disillusion me .
This was complicated & messy and you abandoned her.

This is a review for Urgent Care part of Seattle C...

This is a review for Urgent Care part of Seattle Children's Hospital. In short, it took me full 2h to get my 2 year old with a simple bacterial pinkeye through their "urgent" care at 8pm on a week day. The doctor was great, but it took us 1h to get to see the doctor, and there was 1 other baby in front of us! It took 5min for me to get a sticker with my picture on it from security, 15min for them to check in a baby in front of us, then 10min to check us in (I kept hurrying up the receptioninst) na dput a security bracelet on my daughter, then we waited for 30min in the room, doctor was great, very thorough, then we waited for another 20min for the pharmacy across the hall to put a pre-made and sealed eye dropper bottle into the orange prescription bottle. In total 2h. Combined with the way there and back, that's 3h past my toddler's bedtime! Save yourself some time, and go to a different Urgent Care that's not boggled down in that much bureaucracy. I just went to a different Urgent care for myself the other day, and it took me less than 30min in and out!

Because of their competent, caring staff and doctors, we will always come here for any emergent or specialist care our kids need. Whether it's been stitches, a broken bone, breathing trouble, or heart surgery, we've always had good experiences here with every single doctor, nurse, and medical assistant.

Awful, horrible, worst experience ever in the hist...

Awful, horrible, worst experience ever in the history of experiences. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE unless you want horrible treatment and false CPS allegations brought against you.

I cannot even begin to list everything that was wrong with this experience. We tried to get our son, who has long history of mental illness, lying and violent behavior, admitted to the PBMU. He has been admitted two times prior once for two weeks and the other time for three weeks (there average stay is 3-5 days). We made it clear that was once again an immediate risk to himself and others yet for some reason he wasn't admitted. When my fiancee wasn't able to come pick him up due to her health issues we was told to go to sleep and could pick him up in the morning. Then at 3:55 am I received a call from children's hospital caller ID stating that he was a police officer (didn't leave a call back) and said that he would be calling back in 5 minutes and we better answer or he would be filing a case to prosecutor for arrest for possible child abandonment. After dealing with CPS they were shocked as well that they had ever needed to get involved and everyone agreed he should have been admitted to the PBMU. I am floored at the utter unprofessional (and sheer disregard for the actual facts) demonstrated by the ER staff (especially Marie the mental health evaluator at the time of his visit) at this time. CPS got involved and helped in making the determination our son needed to go to long term residential treatment which is all we were trying to do in the first place.

It is our intention to file a complaint with the department of health and we will be looking into the possibility of filing a law suit for false CPS report made among other basis.

We were on vacation from California when our 3 year old got really sick and was having trouble breathing. We brought her to their emergency room and I can honestly say that this is one of the best hospital experiences we've ever had. EVERY single doctor, nurse, and staff member was amazing. Bringing your child to the ER is never a good experience, but they really went above and beyond to help us and get her back to good health. Thanks Seattle Children's

It was horrible! Our son had high TSH and normal T4 at birth (thyroid levels were off). Our pediatrician wanted us to see an expert, but also said there was a chance our son could grow out of it at 6-9 months old. We chose to go to Seattle children's hospital due to a few people giving us good reviews. What a mistake! The nurses couldn't figure out how to take blood from an infant. 45 minutes of screaming and 7 tries total from 3 different nurses, and they finally called in an anesthesiologist. He found a vein first try and my son wasn't screaming. Probably helped that he wasn't wiggling the needle around under the skin trying to find a vein. We then went to take some pictures of my son's thyroid. That part was ok. Then onto Dr. Dichek... She wanted to Send us home immediately with hormone replacement (T4) drugs and a prescription for it. All the while his T4 had been normal in every test he had taken up to this point, and the blood taken 30 minutes beforehand wasn't even tested yet! How can a doctor prescribe anything without waiting for their own blood test results to come back? My wife and I decided to leave without the hormones, and thoughts of a second opinion growing. Two days later we get a call from Dr. Dichek informing us that they did not have enough blood to complete the necessary testing, but she wrote us the T4 prescription anyway. That is when we decided that we had to get a second opinion. We found an endocrinologist that is an expert. In the appointment, we were told that as long as our son's T4 was normal then he would be just fine. He also said that some people just have a higher than normal TSH. Then the blood test came back from our new specialist, and all results are normal. We were also told that if our son had started the T4 medication, then it would have killed his thyroid completely. Glad we decided on a second opinion! How many families just followed these doctors advice and killed their childrens normal thyroid? Now we are stuck with a bill almost totaling to just below $1500 from Seattle Children's Hospital. Thanks for the bad memories!

Beautiful hospital and generally good staff. However, they are not responsive to anything outside of normal procedure. My son had pneumonia and we went to Overlake in Bellevue. The doctor there wanted my son to be observed overnight, and Overlake doesn't have bed for kids. So he sent us to Children's with a packet of tests and a call to the staff there to get us in bed and observe us. Well, Children's put us through the exact same emergency room procedures as if we were just coming in and they hadn't received a call, even though the front line staff acknowledged getting a call from Overlake. My very sick 3 year old was up until 4 am while 12 different people looked at charts and the hospital helped themselves to some fees from my health insurance. I feel stupid and taken advantage of for even making the trip.

I am a nurse and I've worked in 6 different hospitals. Our daughter was a patient at Seattle Children's Hospital in May of 2019. The quality of care, communication, and amount of consulting physicians/residents was outstanding. Our daughter was misdiagnosed at a local hospital and I took her here instead. Our daughter received prompt, exceptional, and correct care from the moment we arrived at the ED to the moment we walked out of the hospital.

We have been going here for both our kids needs. They have always been excellent and great at explaining any issues going on. We have had the doctors willing to even go to court with us when trying to get permission for a surgery one of them needed and the bio parents didn't want him to have it.

For the most part the staff are professional when you arent dealing with the surgical center. I have had my child here numerous times for the surgery center and that's where I draw the line. The surgery staff really dont take the parents or patient needs in for consideration, especially when your dealing with an outpatient schedule. More that 3 times we have arrived at 0600 for a 30 min procedure and have came home around 7pm, with a hungry child and necessity meds missed, all because of scheduling issues. They dont think about the meds that your child has to maintain to get better and they that when a child is not supposed to eat prior to the procedure, then the procedure gets pushed to a later time sometimes 3-5 hours. Several times my son has had this happen. Communications is not that great also. Especially when we are told that it will be a few minutes. Here a few minutes equals sometimes hours Unsatisfactory!

Words can not describe how much I love this hospital! Everyone who works here from check in to nurses to doctors are beyond amazing! A hospital is a scary place for kids but Seattle children s makes it feel like a second home. The care is impeccable and they are straight up and treat my kids with the upmost care! The cafeteria is so good. The food is amazing and makes it seem more like a restaurant then gross hospital food. There is a Starbucks and the sitting area is huge with microwaves and an outdoor seating area. There is a sibling play room, video games for kids to play and all the decor is so fun and makes kids feel comfortable. Honestly best hospital I ve been to!

I really appreciate that the staffs and doctors who knows what they are doing. Expect the dietician. I'm not sure if this person is still helping with my daughter's diet. But she has caused me to be unable to be with my daughter. She accused me as unfit mom so she told the child services that my daughter was losing weight. I have tried multiple times to call her but she never responded to my calls until after she noticed that my daughter was losing weight. I have done what a mother who was concerned about her daughter health and safety. But she was putting me in a situation where I was looked upon as a unfit mom. I hope that she is not working there any longer. She has no idea what I have been dealing with in the past several years. If any one know this type of person. I hope that they look into it and stop this from happening ever again to anyone else. If the President of this hospital wants to go more information please look into my information there in the record. I will not forget what I been through. I also want to help that those who end up with this dietician please find another person to help you. She has no idea what she says.

My wife and I took the day off work for an appointment for my son. We traveled over from Eastern Washington just to find out that they are only allowing one parent into the appointment with the children. I was told I had to wait outside of the hospital after we arrived. If you have an appointment here you better call before had to make sure both parents are allowed inside. Very disappointed in the customer service and the way they do business.

Recently went to the surgery department for my daughter. 100% the worst experience of our lives. If possible go to the Bellevue Branch!! The surgery nurses are cold & could care less about you and your child's care. We waited for 30 minutes to be discharged, never was asked how we are doing, never offered food or drink ( keep in mind my daughter had to fast.for surgery) the nurses wanted us out if their as fast as possible.

Again, WORST experience of our lives!!! Do not go here for surgery.

After a terrible experience with the staff at the other major children's hospital, we were so relieved by the kindness, respect and professionalism we were shown at this hospital. Susan Hale was amazing. She answered all our questions, we came together on a follow up plan and we were treated so much better than MB. We will definietly be using Childrens only from now on and will always recommended them to friends, family and strangers.

The surgeon we had for sons cleft lip and palate w...

The surgeon we had for sons cleft lip and palate was fantastic. Nurses were also wonderful as well as the pedistric ortho. Wait times at the clinics are long, usually 30 minutes to an hour per provider. Waiting / scheduling areas are chaotic and schedulers are often rude, probably from the overload. If you're seeing four to six doctors, that's a lot of waiting.

After my sons second surgery, we went back for his post op, we live 2.5 hours away, and we're told that his surgeon was in surgery and could not see us. That's it. Would you like to reschedule? We did go back but haven't been back since.

I've tried to schedule an appt to check in since his surgery. Wasnt an urgency, son is doing well and healthy. Since 2015, I have called every month or so. No return call. I left a message with the craneofacial nurse today and received a message. Message said that they called but my voice mail was not set up. I always have my phone and check home log for calls. Nope, no call.

I prefer to choose my family's doctors. When visiting Seattle Childrens craneofacial center, all doctors and appt times are decided for you. A list is sent to your home of who and when you'll see. I suppose it streamlines their time but doesn't leave much choice for families.

There are very talented and compassionate providers at SCH and I appreciate their skill and time. I hope the hospital will work on their scheduling systems.

Do not volunteer here! There are other hospitals that are way nicer to their volunteers. I have volunteered at a lot of places and different hospitals and my experience here was the worst. No break, no free meal, no rest time and no flexibility what so ever. The role I was assigned to was basically an unpaid housekeeper. One of the front desk staff once said to me "we are gonna get our money's worth from you today". I asked for another role and they refused. My knee would hurt after my shifts. They had others in the same role who were physically unable to perform their duties so whoever was able had to do all the work. While the staff at the volunteer office are just standing and chatting doing nothing, they'll have a volunteer clean up/wipe down their whole break room area even though they are tired from completing a hard task. They seem to forget that we are "volunteers". The only reason I did it was to help and give back. Not to be treated like I've been given this huge opportunity and I should be used to the max.

I went there to pick up a kid to bring somewhere else and the staff was not only polite and willing but very helpful in giving me precise directions and help on how to get to the room. Facility was very clean; and very warm for adults and children. I hope no one has to bring their child here for being sick; but if your child does get sick; this is the perfect place to make sure your child gets well taken care of. Highly recommend.

My nephew has been going here since he was very young for bilateral cleft palate! He is 9 now and has been thru so much so far in his short little life! The staff is mostly very professional, but a few can be a bit gruff or rather blunt! They are all very well trained and work very well with families! Overall, I have no complaints and look forward to working with the staff at Seattle Children's Hospital!

We recently moved to this area of Seattle. Our previous doctor has referred us to this hospital for speech therapy. My daughter 3 y. o. has a significant delay in development.

Hospital representative asked us to fill in a huge form (6 pages) including not only just contact data but a huge texts describing situation etc etc. To fill it completely, we spent a lot of time requesting data from other hospitals, writing down situations etc etc...

Once we sent mail back, they told that they need additional data to fill in. We filed another form and sent to them. After that, we waited 2 weeks. We contacted them multiple times, but their phone usually does not respond. Once they responded, they told us to wait more.

Finally, representative from hospital speech therapy contacted us to tell... that we just lost our time!!! They have no any therapy here. They can do "evaluation" only. But for some reason she told there is no sense for us to do evaluation. The representative was very busy and told that she has no time to answer our questions. For questions, she referred us to another phone number. That other phone number did no respond, and auto-response said that specialist comes here just couple times a week.

This mockery was after we waited a lot of time and spent few HOURS searching information they requested!
I think this hospital should close speech therapy department. Because there is no any speech therapy here. And employees there are just spending taxpayers money doing almost nothing!

I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Beware: They are over-busy and cannot handle new patients very well. We had a late-night visit and waited an hour for a room, and then were not able to get a reasonable follow-up appointment for a cast on my daughter's elbow fracture (under their own doctor's orders...go figure!). After asking that the scheduler check in with the orthopedic doctor/nurses to see if they could make room, no call back, no appointment in the needed time-frame. I would have loved to had a pediatric specialist on our case, but had to go with a general practice that actually had available appointments.

99% Of the staff here at Seattle Children's Hospit...

99% Of the staff here at Seattle Children's Hospital are five star professionals when it comes to medical care. My daughter and my family was sent down from another hospital after repeatedly seeking medical care for her injury. The previous hospital already had taken x rays of her injury. When we first arrived the parking situation was great; I was able to proceed right inside where my daughter was. My fears were quickly put to rest about the severity of my daughters injury and a minimally invasive solution was told to my wife and I and her cast placement in the surgery department went great! Thank you MD. Super and staff. However, in the ER another MD and a social worker came in and told us that they want to do a full skeletal x ray exam on out daughter. And knowing we already had films of her injury, and being a medical professional myself did not want my daughter exposed to that much radiation or the cost associated with it. They made us do it anyway and want us to pay for the huge cost now, and nothing was found on the films. This provided no care for my daughter and despite saying NO to this procedure it was done anyway, and they pretty much detained my daughter until they had every picture they needed. We had no say.
