DO NOT GO TO SANTA CLARA VALLEY HOSPITAL!!!! WORST HOSPITAL I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!!!! it smells horrible and is disgustingly dirty. The staff here is racist and rude. The wait time is ridiculous. But what topped it off...... They diagnose based on your insurance. This place is unethical and discriminates. Everybody I know in san jose says the same. I'm amazed its still running.

Terrible wait times... I am sure there isn t science behind ERs but I am here today waiting for 2.5 hours and have been patiently waiting for a doctor to show up.. no luck yet... the system is poor, Cant comment on staff because they seem to be helpless... I am wondering even if they have a doctor to see an eye problem or they are on mercy of another hospital sending someone to look at a patient.

Worst Ever!!!!!

Worst Ever!!!!!
Took my mom who experienced sharp pain in her abdominal area to 'express care' in this medical center. We arrived at 4pm, after hour of waiting we eventually saw the nurse who took her vital signs. After waiting another hour I found that there are more than 30 patients in front of us. One of the nurses took a pity on us and ordered ultrasound for abdominal area. So to make my story short after 8 hours of sitting in this terrible outdate waiting room we didn't have ultrasound, even if it was ordered 6 hours ago or saw a doctor. At 12am they started moving people to emergency room since 'express' care was closing. If you have emergency, take it somewhere else!

I went in for the fifth time for pancreatitis, it's clearly on my records there, all five times I've been hospitalized. I told them I have it again, they misunderstood and thought I was having a heart attack, I've had three and a five way bypass. They gave me an ekg, and xrayd my chest, I then told the nurse, wait a minute, I m here for stomach pain, because of pancreatitis, they then took blood and urine. I sat for eight hours, in pain, I finally went up after I watched the ER fill and empty three times, why am I waiting. They were unprofessional said you're able to complain you look alright to me??? Really!?! So I called an ambulance to take me from there to Standford. I'm now looking for a lawyer...

I went in today to take my 3 year old toddler for dental work in the pediatrics dept 5th floor. This is by far the absolute worst experience of any type of medical treatment in my life. First off, dealing with children takes a certain type of person/people which the people working in this floor know NOTHING about. They think they re dealing with adults. On top of which, their equipment is from the 90 s as well as their strategies in procedures. Needless to say I did not go through with the scheduled procedure for my daughter after they tried to make me pin her down to put an IV in her, pin her down to take medicine, pin her down to take her temperature(under the armpit?!! Haven t they heard of forehead temp?!!), pin her down to monitor heart rate. I mean, everything was unprofessional considering they re dealing with children. I will NEVER recommend or refer anyone here. I was scheduled to deliver my second baby here in January since I m 35 weeks pregnant and that will not be happening any longer, switching hospitals for that too. Unprofessional. Lack of knowledge of dealing with patients. Never again.

READ THIS! FINANCIAL COUNSELOR DID DOCTORS JOB. Went in due to heavy bleeding, (Had taken 2 pregnancy tests that came positive) so my partner and I became incredibly worried.
Fast forward I am in the room in tons of pain and one of the financial ladies came in to ask questions, I just let her know what I could (regarding financial matters) and she decided to take it upon herself to go check my urine, A FINANCIAL CONSULTANT, to go check my results then decide to tell me that I am not pregnant. Complete MALPRACTICE. I started to cry thinking I lost my baby and not even the doctor told me but some women.
Shortly after the nurse came in saying how they're going to test my blood work to see I was pregnant and I let her know that a woman came in and told me I wasn't already. She then told me that the woman was incorrect and basically caused me to cry and panic for NO REASON since my blood wasn't even tested. Oh also got charged over 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS for that. Like a 20 year old has that kind of money to pay in 90 days.

Not saying it was a horrible experience, but in ho...

Not saying it was a horrible experience, but in honor of providing honest feedback, I just thought they could have been more pleasant. I guess in a service oriented business of being at a law firm, you come to realize that whether it's a paralegal, a nurse, or a receptionist, doctor or lawyer, each person has the option of becoming jaded and just acting like you tolerate your job and you tolerate the patients or clients whom you are paid to serve. It seems that about 9/10 of the people I met at this hospital seemed to be the type who just show up to their job and I'm grateful that they do. But it seems to me that they would enjoy their job more if they put that extra effort into it and made me believe as a patient that they also cared about me and not just their paycheck. I know days are long, and once again, I can't stress that I am grateful for the service provided and also that is why I gave a 3 star and not a 1 or a 2. But I feel like with even small amounts of effort they could be worthy of a 4 or 5 star rating. There--I'm off my soap box. Again thank you to the couple staff members who were friendly. To the rest, I wish you more happiness and fulfillment in your jobs that it appeared that I was witnessing...

This hospital is expanding and the planning is getting bigger and bigger, which is good news. The medical service team here is good. In particular, language services are available in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, etc. to facilitate the family life of new immigrants.

Filed a dispute that Santa Clara Valley charged me for additional test done without informing me there will be extra cost. They did not send me a decision or reply me even after I tried to call and message them on myhealthonline for countless times. They just sent my bill to the department of tax and collections instead.

The account collector told me that it's not their job to inform me what is covered in a preventive care, and I should just pay the bill and take it as a lesson.

It is extremely unethical for a health care professional to deceive patients. I'm going to file a complaint with the California medical board and report them to CHCQ. I hope everyone do the same in order to hold Santa Clara Valley accountable.

Shameful place, nearly malpractice... A family mem...

Shameful place, nearly malpractice... A family member was admitted for water retention, stayed one week, then discharged from the hospital only to return for admittance again after a few days this time for congestive heart and acute kidney failure due to further retaining water. The staff accused the patient of not taking his newly prescribed medication for water retention. However, the medication was not on the discharge instructions. There is obviously a lack of communication between the negligent staff that fell just short of killing my family member. Additionally, their systems are not in sync whatsoever, if it weren't for the patients' knowledgeable family members of patient meds and medical history, this hospital would just about prescribe anything and waste valuable time and tax dollars on the damages caused to the patients by experimental prescription, a lack of staff communication and fundamental care for patients like they have made oaths to prioritize when commenced as medical professionals. The staff is also very rude and unprofessional, and allow fragile patients to drive themselves home upon discharge, which is very high risk. Major policies and a serious overhaul are needed at this establishment.

Advice to staff: Use common sense. Do your job with pride or switch careers if you can't handle the pressure. Not all patients there are homeless and can be kicked to the curb when family requested for the staff to notify them when the patient receives clearance for discharge.

Advice to prospective patients and patient family members: Don't expect the staff to keep the patient or family informed, you'll have to jump through hoops and over ladders to get answers to simple questions about your loved one. Accept medical care from SCVMC at your own risk!

My mom, who is 92, was admitted to Valley for her heart and abdominal problems. She was admitted in the unit on the 6th floor and received extremely good care from Dr. Wendy Zhou and her team. They not only treated my mom s problems, but also eased my worries. They were extremely patient and were very knowledgeable in their professional areas. Everyone from the doctor to the nurse and the sitter did their best to help my mom feel not only comfortable but also safe. Also a special thanks to Manan!

I wouldn't give a star for emergency room. I took...

I wouldn't give a star for emergency room. I took my husband on Sunday, Jan. 8, to Valley emergency room. After some test, the doctor (he was nice) suggested to transfer him to private room for over night stay due to his lung problem. He was in same room and bed since 9 a.m. since we arrived. No food, No water, no help to bathroom or any other help that a patient suppose to receive. I had to take care of him myself. Several time we requested food for him, but no one brought any food. When we asked for water the nurse told me to get it from the faucet. When I filled my own bottle with faucet water, it was cloudy and smelled. At 8 p.m I had to go out and buy food and water for him. The next door patient was in pain and asking for help. No one checked on her. Nurses from other department were stopping by and talking about their personal thing instead taking care of those patient who asked for help. Over years I had experience with Stanford emergency room, O'Conner Emergency room, Palo Alto Clinic Emergency room, and El Camino Emergency room, but none were like this experience. When we asked for the supervisor to complain around 10 p.m., he had no respect and said if we are not happy we can leave. One of the nurses was nice and said that we have to wait till the morning and say nothing. For a moment I thought maybe I am in third world country, I asked my husband are we in America?
Then on Monday morning, everything changed the new crew were very nice and helpful especially, the hospital team were much better than Sunday crew in Emergency room.

I had a caesarean section in that hospital and I honestly do not recommend anyone much less if they are Hispanic since during the surgery the doctor let a beginner a medical intern was failing and they were discussing what method to use and both claiming in the middle of surgery, the wound opened within two days ... it was the most horrible experience because we are Hispanic, we deserve that bad treatment ... I made a complaint to the hospital but there was never an apology or anything ..

On Jan 12th i broke my leg pretty bad. I had 2 surgeries done. The over all stay was 2 weeks for me and most nurses were horrible. Dion, Brandon were amazing nurses and i appreciate them. The surgeon himself was great but almost everything else here is the worst! They dont answer the phone to any departments in a timely manner. Almost everyone you speak to on the phone after waiting for almost an hour to speak to them, has the worst attitudes when you do finally get through. The staff on the phones literally will do and say anything to get out of actually doing their jobs and helping you. The wait time when you have an appointment for the ortho is HORRIBLE. you can be scheduled at 130pm get there at 115pm like they ask and still not be seen until 3pm and if you need prescriptions or paper work you can expect to be out of here even later. If it wasnt for the great job Dr Lucas did on my surgery, this place would get only one star. This place definitely needs to get it together and work to help us patients like they should.

Ridiculously long wait. Brought my mom in for her illness only to be prescribed medicine that is available over the counter. Had to have the pharmacist call the doctor who saw my mom... We were in Express Care from 12 p.m. till close to 5 p.m. (which wasn't even busy). Waiting, waiting, waiting. Such a waste of time--never again!

Dr. Harris is the worst CCU doctor to deal with. He says he doesnt have alot of time to talk which means he doesnt care for his patients. He takes notes of his patients which are opposite of what is in the computer. He contradicts what he relays. He depends on the nurse to answer my questions.I truly do not ever recommend your loved ones be under his care. They will die!

I had open heart surgery at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in 1981. I have been recieving care here since the year 1999 when I first started on Medi-Cal. Now I have Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for both Medicare and Medi-Cal. This is the best place to get care if you have chronic health conditions such as I have. I trust these doctors with my life, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center saved my life in 1981.

Worst possible health care, the ER is awesome if you need emergency treatment.
But this hospitals primary care is the absolute worst quality.
Misdiagnosed twice ! One for a heart condition I didn't have. Primary care put me on debilitating heart medication for a heart condition that didn't exist. Passed every heart test, and cleared by the ER doctors finally.
Went in for anxiety attacks, never treated. Went in for acid reflux, never treated.

Each month they would send me invoice copies of the tens of thousands in testing fees they bilk the state for, 3 years wasted in endless testing, with misdiagnoses, and no treatment for my actual health issues. Which finally had to be taken care of by another outside doctor. They had me properly diagnosed and treated within 2 weeks.

Go anywhere else. This place uses you as a ginnie pig while they bilk the state to pay for their billion dollar expansion.
