Most importantly, to me, is the quality of care I received which was a bit distant but of the utmost concern for my welfare. Entirely professional from my arrival in the ambulance for a 2nd stroke suffered. I was immd. diagnosed and treatment began. Let me thank the Doctors, of whom was a 3 person team under a senior Dr. training them I dealt with all separately and as a unit. They knew their craft as well as any could I should think. Each was bit overly causous (in their faith in patient decision making I think perhaps a bit jaded), but to their credit they were willing to alter an approach after much argument from me, (I was allowed solid meals the last day there). They were steadfast and inquisitive the while time. All around I do call out for 3 cheers for our doctors!
The nurses were, to a fault, completely well trained and did their job without losing track of the conditions and goals they labored towards each shift. I couldn't say enough good things about those of the 5th floor PCU! Thank you to Jon, Patrick, Nina, Anne, Annie, and the rest of their beautiful staff (they are lucky to have working there in the Progressive Care Unit) ,on the 5th floor. Also a special nod to the speech dept's own miss Vu. Thank you for helping me not to choke after my stroke! Thankhey even have me a ride home!
It was an experience of healing, self discovery, and yes I'll say it "LOVE". Thank you all at vmc don't take anyone's negitive word on it , I was made better there. Sincerely Donald Jerome Ostrander, age55, Male, and Stroke Survivor.
