My son was critically injured(shot in the head in March). The staff and Nurses at this hospital took great care of my son. They had a name for him in Physical Therapy "Mr. Magnificent". Not only did my son make a quick recovery. He was home walking without assistance within 1 month of his injury. I can not be more grateful for the dedication of the staff at this hospital. A miracle happened. We were lucky to have the BEST team possible for my son's recovery. We live here in Georgia. I had to stay at the hospital . The staff was kind, and took great care of my son. Nicholas is walking , driving car almost back to his old self. I have to give all credit to Dr. Brad Steinle and his team.

Most grateful

Absolutely the worse experience of my life. They herd you through the appointment like cattle. They have turned into a bandaid and baby facility. Never go there with Orthopedic issues they are a joke. One doctor even yelled at me when he was referred by his hospital to give shots in the sciatica and the truth is he's just there to keep on the payroll as he is fighting cancer. So their own hospital misrepresented their staff. I do understand the situation but I also expect honesty when it comes to my health and hard earned money. I lost parents to cancer so I do understand his issue. But it's wrong to allow him to practice and keep a bio on there website that is false.

There s nothing like being at the end of the ER area as a patient having to listen to employees talk and laugh loudly, cussing and complaining about their jobs while you re in pain and trying to stay calm. Very unprofessional and obnoxious. The three hour wait didn t help matters.

I will never bring another family member are myself to your hospital. When u walk in the emergency lobby the black lady at the desk was so unfriendly. Your staff is the worst in Kansas City. I thought when u come to a hospital u need help. I very unhappy with your service. I will never come back. I promise u need to train your staff.

I was recently exposed to COVID at work. We were all told to go home and quarantine for 2 weeks and get tested before we could return to the office. I called my doctors office at St Luke s midtown at 8:00am and told the nurse my store. She called back at noon and said I didn t qualify for testing. Most of my colleagues at work were tested this morning. Most live on the Kansas side of state line. Whats the difference???
Very disappointed with the process at St Luke s concerning COVID testing.

The nurses in Labor and Delivery are very sweet and caring but the doctors are very cold and unfeeling. I had been in pain for almost 8 week, they constantly ran the same test got the same results every time. They can't tell me what's wrong or how to make the pain stop.

If your in the metro area I recommend KU. St.Lukes don't give you enough information on your health situation and plus the nurses are rude. I've been here a few times waited hours and hours just to tell me I have a cyst on my ovaries and as I quote " You have a cyst on your ovaries let me get your discharge papers." That was it no further details how I got it or how long it it going to last. And to top it off for the pain they gave me like Motrin to take every six hours for pain. It didn't work I'm still in serious of pain don't go to this hospital.

My experience was so awful and 10 years ago I would state things were much better, now it's all for them to collect every dollar from the patient and absolutely provide more damaged care than good. Unbelievable and shocked is a understatement. I would rate a 0 if I could, non professional and non caring Physicians and Staff, both in the Hospital and Office visits. I would definitely make a strong statement not to go their for any reason.

Very very very very slow. I'm still waiting in the ER as i type this up. It was a man next to me who had clearly been here quite awhile (moaning and groaning in evident pain), and he was just now called over an hour into my wait. 1 hour and 40 minutes into my wait..guess what: I'm still waiting. I came here because they use to have the 1 hour standard where they had to get u back within an hour...I'm most certain that that is no longer a standard here. Just seen another lady go back who was here well before me as well...on crutches and in a boot and in evident pain, but i guess that doesn't get u in quickly either. Nurses are nice enough but the front desk lady is pretty unconcerned. I ased if she could check how long and initially she replied "i don't know" in an idgaf kind of manner. I guess I'll go to Research/Baptist campus from here on out. I guess the more u build up, the more u getaway from patient satisfaction and compassion. Nicely built but the ER is poorly run. Never again St. Lukes! And i will no longer vouch for u or sing your praises!!

At a NP request to call her 2 weeks after my visit, I have called and left messages with her nurses 3 straight days in a row, with NO response. She also gave references for 2 neurologists for me to see and they don't see patients like me with possible seizures according to the Neurology Department when I called to make an appointment. The person who responded to my call in Neurology was to call back with the name of a neurologist that would see me and still NO phone call. HOW DO YOU GET ST. LUKE'S DOCTORS TO RETURN PHONE CALLS THEY REQUEST?

I am frustrated with the lack of customer service I have experienced when trying to schedule diagnostic testing our cardiologist has requested. He is a St. Luke's cardiologist and yet diagnostic departments at the Plaza & East are refusing to schedule the tests because they want him seen in the last 90 days by the cardiologist. When the cardiologist says do the tests & then I will schedule to see you. Who is managing our health anymore???? Insurance ??? hospitals??? Doesn't seem to be the doctors anymore!!!

Awesome - I wrote that a year ago but I have to tell the people how really Awesome they are. I went to st. Luke s today 09.02.2020 because I am currently pregnant and is experiencing night terrors, which has turned into Anxiety. I went to triage 4 and met this wonderful and Awesome nurse named Lucy Smith. She really gave me hope for my problem and not only found a solution but found several solutions to my problem. Ms. Smith was kind, professional, caring, loving, and honest. Never in my years of hospital visit have I met someone like her, she truly put my mind at ease and made sure I had everything I needed while in her care. She is truly a blessing for St. Luke s and I hope they giver her a raise or something. All in all she makes the maternal experience a better feeling because of doctors like her. I would never in a million years switch hospitals for prenatal care when I say they take care of you they TAKE CARE of you. Thank you Lucy Smith and St. Lukes for existing.

Grandson 19 is in the hospital for over a month. D...

Grandson 19 is in the hospital for over a month. Doctors change daily. No consensus with doctors as to diagnosis. No staff will listen to my daughter or answer her questions. Some of the doctors have diagnosed pancreatitis and pancreas is 95% dead and surgery to remove pancreas when body rejects it will need to occur with removal of gall bladder. Other doctors say they don t believe it is pancreatitis and that pain and spot on his left lower abdomen needs to be reviewed. No doctors have reviewed that area. Doctors say he has no symptoms of pancreatitis. But he has all symptoms of e-coli, which would also be evident by the spot in his lower abdomen which shows on ct scan and the pain only be in his lower left abdomen. No test for e-coli has been done. Grandson has been in and out of icu for 4 weeks. They are treating symptoms of pancreatitis, but he is not getting any better, he gets better then declines, then goes back to ICU. A lot of the nurses are rude and lazy and don t seem to care. His symptoms: high white cell blood count, bloody stool, respiratory problems, low hemogloblin count, pain localized in lower left abdomen, sepsis, decreased urination, dizzy when standing, has had two blood transfusions and hemoglobin is not coming up, on oxygen, 100 lbs of fluid build-up in chest cavity, high sugar levels in blood, and enflamed pancreas and possible abdominal absess. All these symptoms are the same symptoms of e-coli. Grandson is food service worker and loves hamburgers. The number one form of food poison for food service workers is e-coli. But, the hospital staff won t listen. He has had no pain in area of gall bladder or pancreas. Everything has been on lower left abdomen, where the spot on ct scan is located. This is not consistent with pancreatitis or bad gall bladder. But, the doctors continue to tell us, it is pancreatitis and that he has no symptoms of pancreatitis, except it is enflamed. The inflammation can be caused by e-coli. Also, some of the doctors are saying pancreas is dead (95%), other doctors are saying its not dead, just inflamed. Some doctors say it needs to come out. other doctors say it doesn't need to be removed. No cause for inflammation has been found, to include no stone. Yet for some reason it keeps flaring up. ecoli would cause the re-flaring, but the doctors has settled on this being pancreatitis and refuse to hear anything else.

Very rude, condescending medical staff (both doctors and nurses). Many of the ward night nurses hide and sleep during their shifts and become very resentful when you ask them to do their jobs. They then put you on the "Problem Visitor List", which they will deny ever having. This hospital suffers from a "Snob Complex." It believes that it is superior to all of the other hospitals in the KC Area. It is not. If the staff believes that you are somebody who is wealthy or important they will trip over themselves to serve you. If they believe that you are not, they will treat you with rudeness and neglect.
A couple of years ago I took my mother for an Outpatient ENT Appointment, in order to have her ears cleaned out and her hearing checked. After being kept waiting for almost two hours, a Doctor entered the examining room and, never even having introduced himself or asking why my mother was there, stated, "Does she need a hearing aid?" I said that she needed her ears cleaned first and then that could be determined. He barked at me, "Stay here." He returned with my mother 5 minutes later and declared, "We're Done." He then walked out the door. I then realized that my mother had not been to visit a medical doctor but, rather, a Hearing Aid Salesman.

I only put one star, the option for no stars was unavailable. My mom was life flighted in due to a stroke. For 3 1/2 days she complained of not being given her blood pressure medications. She also had high blood pressure the whole time. She wanted to leave to go see her doctor and they said she couldn't be released due to high blood pressure. They need to do their job and get the patients list of medications so they can be treated properly. On day 4 we finally got someone to listen and give her her medication. Rough week.

Im now changing it to a 1 star. Turns out even though they "accept " your insurance they don't have to take any of the write offs. Insurance fraud?? I have several EOBs that say my bill should be hundreds less, but someone at St. Luke's says they are exempt of taking the discounts. Why would i go here if my insurance company wasn't going to help? Fraud, scam, dishonest place that doesn't care about the patient, only the dollar sign.

The 2 stars are for the clinical team. But then we have to talk about billing. I originally wanted to deliver my child here, but AFTER several appointments and VERY EXPENSIVE exams, I was told they didn't take my insurance and i had to leave-26 weeks pregnant. Now, my child is 4 months old, I have paid this hospital over $3000, and i just got another statement for an additional $900, AND I DIDN'T EVEN DELIVER THERE! Frustrated, disappointed, heart sick, and financially broke thanks to st. Luke's.

My husband has been on the kidney transplant list ...

My husband has been on the kidney transplant list for a year. In October he had a person step up to be tested as a living Donor and that's when the nightmare began. After completing a phone interview, which the donor passed, she was told she would receive a kit to do a blood comparison. Ten days later when she still had not received it she called again, this time they finally overnighted it. Of course she got it on a Friday so couldn't have blood drawn until Monday. Then she overnighted it back and a week later was told she was a perfect blood match. Then it took another 2 weeks for her to get a date(a whole month later) to be tested in person. This involved a plane ticket as she lives in Arizona and we live in Kansas. Then when she's came for 3 days of testing and interviews with doctors, social workers and her "coordinator" she was told all the tests were completed and the case would be presented on the last day of her testing and a date for the transplant would be scheduled. THEN it wasn't!! So she went home and spent a week trying to contact her coordinator who didn't return calls and then asked for a supervisor only to be given back to the "Clinical Director" who happened to be the original person she talked to. Oh and the donor also had to redo the first interview, which she did with the "Director" and which magically seemed to have gotten lost!! Now a week after she's returned home she is told she must do more tests and talk to more people, and now they can't present the case OR schedule the transplant for another 2 weeks!! And by the way, for all of you out there that might be on dialysis according to the "Director" dialysis is "No big deal!!"
At this point we're very frustrated with the whole business and each day my husband's condition gets worse and all we can do is wait.
Save yourself some frustration and look elsewhere.

I had spinal fusion Nov 2018 and this is THE best hospital I've ever had care in. I am also a nurse and would recommend this hospital to anyone needing care. The nurses and CNAs are so kind, helpful, and truly give the best care one could ask for. Im a tually considering driving the 2.5 hrs to seek specialist help with womens health, I loved it there so much.

My husband was rushed to this hospital via ambulance for chest pain. To make this short and sweet, he was there 3 days and nothing was figured out! We then went to a specialist in the North Kansas City Hospital (b/c the heart specialist we saw at St Lukes was extremely rude) and had answers within hours. So now I have thousands owed to St Lukes for absolutely NOTHING and to top it off they won't do payment plans over 6 months unless I want to take a bank loan! Worst customer service and patient experience we have ever experienced. Will NOT RETURN to this hospital again.

Very unhelpful. They couldn't do the simplest of task to help me. I said, no one can take 5 mins to help me get a sheet that will save me from pain and thousands of dollars. She said "no". It wasn't illegal, it wasn't a waste of anyone's time. They simply wouldn't help cause it wasn't their "job duties". They told me I'd have to wait for days til they open their office again or pay an ER and wait for hours to try and get a prescription that is sitting on a desk. True story.

My brother-in-law and his girlfriend's child was born prematurely, at 17 weeks, has strong heartbeat, and is breathing shallowly. But what did they do?? I will be discharged from maternity tomorrow. My labor was the most horrible experience I could have ever imagined. I checked in through emergency bout 3 am 3-16-2018. I was told that after an hour of waiting that I would be able to know for sure if I could be admitted and get an epidural. I was dilated to about a 4 and a. I received a little medication to help with the contractions. And after the hour, I asked about the epidural. The nurse checked me again and immediately called for me to be rushed to delivery. To my horror they told me that I could not get an epidural, because they felt I would deliver soon. I did not deliver until 6:17 am. I received one of the most painful procedures I have ever heard of to reduce pain and numb the nerves in my vagina. The procedure is horrible and the pain is excruciating I wanted to die at that moment. This is the second child I have had at this facility and both experiences have been horrible. This review is me finally venting about how my experience has me crying at 3 am I will be so grateful when I am discharged with my beautiful family. I can go home and give myself the care I need and move past the experience I have had at this place. I have learned my lesson about this place.

Horrible experience! Need go ahead and call a spa...

Horrible experience! Need go ahead and call a spade a spade here. So I did not see an email for contact purposes (not sure why they hide that from their contact page) and so I called the "after hours operator" which was listed in big bold text at the bottom. The operator picked up and I quickly expressed that I was interested in setting up an appointment and would like someone to give me a call to assist me with doing that whenever they have a resource back in the office during the week who can assist patients with scheduling appointments. I was hoping to then simply pass my callback info along, but boy was I about to wake up to the kind of low-brow business approach this medical facility is all about. I was instead sharply cut off and met with a cold hard deflective challenge "sir, do you know that you are calling us on a weekend?" My eyes were all the way in the back of my head at this point. Yes, yes, I sure do know that, as anyone would who is TALKING TO YOU BECAUSE THEY JUST CALLED YOU WOULD KNOW. The question itself was an intentionally shaming and demeaning, a targeted act of destruction of a potential patient relationship, and a behavior which is UNHEARD OF in any professional establishment! Did she know that the operator role which she was filling right then and there exists to pick up calls and at the very least document callback information for later follow up during business hours - a bare minimum expectation for call operators who are assigned to pick up calls after hours? But more importantly, does her lack of responsibility and consideration set the standard for the kind of mistreatment patient's should expect from St. Luke's? What's past their front foyer? I wish not to find out or even imagine. I'm appalled at the unprofessional and inconsiderate behavior of the staff here and cannot recommend it until they AT LEAST have receptionists who can actually receive patient's basic requests as a care facility should. One star.

Im currently in the heart wing at St Lukes Plaza as I type. I had a blood infection that attacked my heart and I had to have a heart valve replaced. My surgeon, Dr. Aggarwal is absolutely unbeleivable! Like a savant. My open heart surgery was flawless. Every single nurse or specialist or relative that sees my scar cannot believe how straight and perfect it is. and it truely is just that good. A funny thing happened which was almost like a sign to me right after i awoke from surgery, not 30 minutes after, im in recovery watching the news with my wife and low and behold Dr. Aggarwal pops up on the screen doing an a special with the news about cardiovascular heart stuff. They pick the best of the best for that stuff! Dr. Aggarwal thank you from the bottom of my heart for making a very scary part of my life feel like a blessing.

The nurses on level B heart recovery where ive been staying for the last 3 weeks are also in a class of thier own. So, professional, knowledgeable, sweet and caring. Im shocked at how many amazing people can work in one area of the hospital.
Sincerely,
Brian

Walked in at 8:30. It took 10 minutes for anyone to even speak to us and another 30 minutes before she was triaged. She had accidentally poked hit her eye on the corner of a shelf and was in severe pain. After another 45 minutes I got upset so they finally took her back to a room. There was only one other person waiting so it wasn t because they were busy. I am an ER nurse and this is UNACCEPTABLE.

Saved my mother's life. She had a serious blood infection that would have killed her within weeks had it not been treated. They performed the surgery, kept her in the hospital until she was well and did follow up visits to make sure the bacteria that caused the infection did not come back. The doctor and nurses were great and helpful.

The only unpleasant part was the waiting room. Not because of the staff but because of the patients who were demanding to be seen right away even when their condition wasn't life threatening. I understand people are in pain but the amount of abusive language being dished out at the receptionist was sad.

I went to the ER because I could not bend my finger after cutting it with a kitchen knife. Dr. Stephanie Davis took a cursory glance at it and decided it was not deep enough to be the tendon. I asked if she was going to do any type of exam and she said it was not necessary, that it would get better over time. Okay, whatever. I don t have a medical degree, so I m not in a position to know about requisite tests for various injuries. After several days, I was still unable to bend it, so I followed up with my primary who referred me to a specialist who said it WAS the tendon and that it was basically too late to do anything. And the patient advocate pretty much said I was screwed because discharge paperwork said to follow up in 48 hours, although I was explicitly told by Davis to disregard those instructions and follow up in a week if I still couldn t move my finger. I mean, I get that it s just a finger, right? A pinkie finger, at that. Not the end of the world, obviously. But it still sucks that I ll never have a complete grip in my dominant hand again just because the doctor didn t take the time to provide proper treatment.

Worst experience ever!!!! Doctors are horrible. Nurses are horrible. Went to the ER for the flu because I couldn t keep any food down for multiple days. Ended up getting a bill of over $5,000. Then after applying for financial aid... they said I wouldn t get sent to collections while my finicial aid application was pending. So I waited and waited for a decision on my application. Called them multiple times to check the status of the application. Ended up sending me to collection anyways. Never received a bill in the mail or any notice and EVERY representative I talked to said my application was pending. If I could give 0 stars I would. (I have health insurance also)

Dr. Davis, ErOp, deserves nothing less than to be relieved of all duty. I am consulting my lawyers for a lawsuit.

A patient is not supposed to be discharged, under federal law, without being stabilized. I was discharged, by her direction, with BP of 170/120, BR of 135 and spo2 of 87. Those are just the vitals. I couldn't even walk out. I listed the facts that I was severely mentally disabled and scared to death. I even presented a card showing my disabilities. I'm not indigent, though that should not have mattered

This person, Dr .Davis, has no place, ZERO PLACE, being in an ER.

Disgusted in every possible way. I truly feel terrible for ANYBODY who comes under her "care"

St. Luke's has been wonderful to us during some difficult times. I can't recommend them any higher for their caring staff and excellent medical care. We've always gone to the Plaza location, so I don't know about the other locations.

Mom had stroke, room dirty, have pictures. Left her by herself until they know someone was there. Bleed out, kept telling them that Nero doctor said her blood levels had to be at certain level. Contacted head of hospital and dept. of health, no results. They need to be sued. My mom died from having a different nurse daily as we were told staff can make their own scheduled where they want to work making it difficult to maintain clients conditions. I was telling them about my mom, making them go find record on her care. They work there and getting paid, yet I was working harder then they were. My mom was on tube feeding, one day I came in and it was all over the floor as no one had been in to check on her. Several times she wasn't positioned correctly and her head was dropped forward as she had no control over muscles. Billed over 160k for services she didn't receive. Therapy couldn't do anything for non responsive person, yet billed for services until day she went to hospice. Deplorable services and no one taking responsibility for the Hospitals actions.

St Lukes Heart Institute

St Lukes Heart Institute

I can not believe the negative reviews this hospital recieved. Not that I've been in every hospital in the US, however I've been a patient and several of my family membersohave as well. I've also been a Human Resource Manager at a Hospital. This hospital is by far, the BEST hospital in the world as far as I'm concerned. The employees in the cafeteria, environmental services, can't even name all of the departments. They all seemed happy and enjoyed their jobs. And the Nursing staff, omg, amazing!! Never been at any hospital where everyone went above and beyond. I mean everyone (not some of the doctors), but everyone else. When the nurses button was pushed, someone came, whether they just happened to be on that floor, didn't matter if it was another nurses patient, they were there to help. Absolutely AMAZING. And let's not forget the ER. My Mom had a heart attack and was a patient there, I came from Oklahoma to be by her side, her only daughter. I have glaucoma and blind in my left eye. I woke up in her room and I was totally blind in my right eye. My cousins took me to the ER and all I could think was I would never be able to see my Mom's beautiful face again. I was so wrong. After triage, I did not have a long wait in the ER and the ER doctor called in an Optamologist and so far I still have my sight. I know I've had a lot to say and I also have a lot of wonderful people to thank. Most, but not at all least, I'd like to thank Dr. Russell Davis. He saved my Mom's life and he is such a loving and compassionate Doctor. Everyone had their own religious believe, but he has the right belief and that is to save lives. Again, AMAZING. I will yell at the top of a mountain, which won't be so high, because I'm blind , but this hospital deserves 10 stars. I would like to ask if someone in Administration would contact our family.
Thank you,

Don t trust their religious trappings. They are immoral and incompetent. With an appointment, I waited over an hour and the doctor still wasn t available. I was told 5 more minutes. 20 minutes later I was told right away . Then I was told it would be another 20 minutes. Then they tried to blame me - saying that I should make sure I am the doctor s first appointment of the day if I expect the doctor to be on time. I came in at 9:45 and he was already an hour behind? BS!
