Grandson 19 is in the hospital for over a month. Doctors change daily. No consensus with doctors as to diagnosis. No staff will listen to my daughter or answer her questions. Some of the doctors have diagnosed pancreatitis and pancreas is 95% dead and surgery to remove pancreas when body rejects it will need to occur with removal of gall bladder. Other doctors say they don t believe it is pancreatitis and that pain and spot on his left lower abdomen needs to be reviewed. No doctors have reviewed that area. Doctors say he has no symptoms of pancreatitis. But he has all symptoms of e-coli, which would also be evident by the spot in his lower abdomen which shows on ct scan and the pain only be in his lower left abdomen. No test for e-coli has been done. Grandson has been in and out of icu for 4 weeks. They are treating symptoms of pancreatitis, but he is not getting any better, he gets better then declines, then goes back to ICU. A lot of the nurses are rude and lazy and don t seem to care. His symptoms: high white cell blood count, bloody stool, respiratory problems, low hemogloblin count, pain localized in lower left abdomen, sepsis, decreased urination, dizzy when standing, has had two blood transfusions and hemoglobin is not coming up, on oxygen, 100 lbs of fluid build-up in chest cavity, high sugar levels in blood, and enflamed pancreas and possible abdominal absess. All these symptoms are the same symptoms of e-coli. Grandson is food service worker and loves hamburgers. The number one form of food poison for food service workers is e-coli. But, the hospital staff won t listen. He has had no pain in area of gall bladder or pancreas. Everything has been on lower left abdomen, where the spot on ct scan is located. This is not consistent with pancreatitis or bad gall bladder. But, the doctors continue to tell us, it is pancreatitis and that he has no symptoms of pancreatitis, except it is enflamed. The inflammation can be caused by e-coli. Also, some of the doctors are saying pancreas is dead (95%), other doctors are saying its not dead, just inflamed. Some doctors say it needs to come out. other doctors say it doesn't need to be removed. No cause for inflammation has been found, to include no stone. Yet for some reason it keeps flaring up. ecoli would cause the re-flaring, but the doctors has settled on this being pancreatitis and refuse to hear anything else.
