I broke my wing mirror cleaning it and was in a rush to get to an appointment in London. The service department quickly located the part for me and installed it. I was back on the road very soon and am very grateful. I'll be buying my next car from this garage!

Numerous mistakes , just had the car Mot and services . wow we re horrified at owning the car less than a year and your garage had not done the works necessary before and have tried to pass it off to us . Charged us for the mot even though we have 2 years free , wouldn t except this , didn t care and couldn t answer any questions . Just wow , terrible !!!! Also told wrong information about the cambelt , which will cost us now . Will never EVER buy from this garage again , so very disappointed, we worked so hard to finally get a nice family car . Mistakes on the paperwork and service too , we have no confidence in this garage or dealership right now . Very upset about the whole matter really and disappointed.

Have a Polo which I purchased 4 years ago and when taking it for a service the advisors and other staff are always brilliant. Fab service from James today, needed some new tyres and managed to get a price match to save me having to go elsewhere and get them fitted the same time as service and MOT. Always keeping you informed and car ready earlier than expected.

I have a lease car where it does not cost me monies, but after the service I have just had I am compelled to write a review:
Dropped car for service at 8am & said can I have it back by 5pm and at 4pm no one had rang me, so I chase to see if the car would be ready for 5pm, but was told I needed 4 new tyres and a replacement cam belt and the car would not be ready for today and he stated he would not release the car to drive as the tyres are not road worthy because of tyre depth. I looked at the service video and all the tyres were not below the legal depth of 1.6mm.
I said I needed a car for tomorrow to drive to London and why did he not let me know it would not be ready for today, but he could not help. I phone the lease company and they stated they normally need 2 hrs notice to organise a hire car, but I was lucky to get a car to get to work the next day. I was told they were working on the cam belt and it would be ready in the morning. Next day I went back to the garage at 3.30pm to pick up the car but it was not ready as they were still working on the cam belt and was informed they have not replaced the tyres. Marshall blamed the lease company for the delays to approve the works, but Marshall never phoned me to let me know what was happening, which I complained about, but all the said was sorry and there was nothing he could do, I replied you need to investigate why it went wrong and make sure it does not happened again to another customer, but there attitude was very poor and they were not listening.
I have spoken to the lease company to discuss why there were delays on approving works and they went through the log of what happened, the lease company did approve the Marshall to change the Tyres with ATS and the cam belt change was a warranty change. I picked the car up and went straight around to ATS to get the tyres replaced, but had none in stock. I have since had my tyres changed and the rear shock absorbers are leaking and need replacing, that is why my tyres have uneven wear. So Marshall garage have very poor customer service, with poor communication, condescending approach to customers and poor service, as they did not notice the uneven tyre wear due to leaking shock absorber.

Bought a used Golf in January from Marshall's Newb...

Bought a used Golf in January from Marshall's Newbury. Picked out some remedial work including 4 damaged wheels and valet that needed doing to agree a deal. Deal agreed and to include having 4 wheels diamond cut to original standard. 2 weeks later i arrived after a 3.5hour train journey to be told that there is a fault with the car. Car was left for them to repair and the agreed to deliver. On the day of delivery, found car had not been valeted, all 4 wheels patched up with silver paint, and nearside sill damaged from where the alloy wheel repairer has jacked on the sill. After reporting this, it was agreed i would have the car valeted and Marshalls would cover cost have having the wheels diamond cut as they should have been. Wherls have been with the refurbishers for 3 weeks now as they are awaiting payment for work to start. Multiple phone calls and emails saying payment has been processed but still no further forward. In essence the used car preperation is poor and aftersales is disgusting. Since buying the car in Mid January, the car has only been on the road 1 week and still awaiting Marshalls to sort out the issues i have. Beware when buying from Marshall Group.

sadly if you want to look at VW in Newbury there are no options but even if we get the best deal possible , we will not go there.

anyone can sell a car, sign a decent company is how they look after you afterwards.

in this case little did they know that we could be buying a whole fleet for our sales team :)

I was looking for a car for my son and the service I received from Marshalls VW Newbury was fantastic. Tim Piccirillo, the Sales Exec, was highly attentive from the moment he received my enquiry, understood my requirements and provided my with lots of relevant choices before I settled on a great car. The administration of the sale was well managed and I am very happy all round. Kudos also to Jono O'Byrne, who is obviously putting customer service first at this retailer. Many thanks again, I have already recommended to others.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM MARSHALLS IN NEWBURY - you will only be let down when you come back for a service.
I purchased a T-Roc a year ago, I was told by the sales girl that the deal included a 2 year service pack like all my other cars have (its my 3rd vehicle from this dealership so I know the score).
Well fast forward a year and we book it in for service only to be told there is no service pack on the vehicle, I obviously said yes there is Jade specifically told me the first 2 services are free. I escalated this via the service manager to the sales manager and frankly, they both had no interest in helping or even trying to resolve it, as far as they were concerned that girl does not work here anymore so there is nothing we can do. Absolutely unbelievable I was even told by a sales man that there is a reason that girl didn t work here for long (pretty much admitting she wasn t great so is it any wonder she missed the pack off my order NOT MY FAULT and why should I suffer HER mistakes). I realised I would get nowhere with the Newbury branch so told them to leave it, do not service my car and I would come and pick it up. Utterly shocked considering I am deemed a VIP customer and always being invited to launch events etc, clearly just a load of sales rubbish to try to pull you in.
I then came home and did an online chat with VW UK told them about my experience and that I was about to write a scathing review they took all the details said all the right things and then guess what 4 days later I ve still not been contacted at all. Where is the customer service, where is the wanting to help loyal customers and retain them and maybe just maybe admit that a mistake was made and try to rectify it. Shame on you VW you have let me down and I have told so many people so I think it won t be just my custom you will lose people are losing faith in the brand and you are letting it happen.
I was about to change my other car and told them this and they couldn t care less about losing the loyalty I have built with them over the years, I will not purchase form them again and I would suggest you give them a big swerve too.

Sales man Mario Hale - We were looking to replace my mothers (Mrs Jenny Hatfield) manual Tiguan with an automatic.
We made an appointment and on arrival were greeted by Mario 007 Hale.
He very quickly got to grips with my mother's requirements, and organised a suitable Tiguan for a test drive.
After thoroughly explaining the difference in controls, my mother and I set off to try out the car.
When we returned, Mario took us to his Covid secure work station and thoroughly ran through with mum, her test drive experience, and how she felt about the car.
Mario worked out purchase figures, which we found very acceptable and went ahead with a deal.
He made the whole experience stress free and carefully explained every step of the way.
We highly reccomend Mario for his thoroughness making sure the purchase was correct for my mother, and also recounting of his army escapades.

It's easy to post a 5 star review when the car you buy is great when you go to pick it up but this wasn't my experience. Due to current restrictions I couldn't test drive or look over the car prior to purchase. Everything was promised as being in great condition so I went ahead but when I went to collect the car it had 2 curbed wheels, missing cover for one of the lights which was full of condensation because of it, one of the sensors wasn't working properly, securing strap missing for the spare wheel tool kit and some other more minor issues. All of this could have and should have been picked up on their pre-sales inspection and fixed. However, the 5 star review is due to them trying to fix as much as could on the spot when I collected it and then booking the car straight back in to fix everything else, giving me a courtesy car whilst this was happening. I now have the car back and all is good, you can buy from them with confidence that if you do have any issues, they will quickly sort them out to your satisfaction. Thanks to Tom and James.

A huge thank you to Harry in the sales team and the rest of the staff at VW Newbury. I bought an 18 plate Golf on New Years Eve and despite the fact the team probably wanted to get off early to see in the New Year I still received fantastic service from start to finish.

Nothing was too much trouble for Harry and the team and it made the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. (I can see why my dad keeps returning and buying brand new Tiguan R Line Techs from this dealership! :)

Booked to test drive an Up. There were banners everywhere saying you can test drive any VW for 24 hours. I was told (on the phone beforehand) only at certain branches. Don't put the banners up in Newbury then!



Very poor sales technique! I may very well have changed my mind on my top price once I had taken the car for a test drive. Surely if the car is good it would sell itself?

Not the fault of the sales team as I'm sure it's a decision above their heads but a very strange way to try to sell cars.

Sadly this dealership got it badly wrong for us. Having made an appointment to view/test drive and hopefully buy a Golf from this dealer, we travelled over 50 miles in two cars to an arranged test drive. Upon arrival, we were seated in reception and given coffee. While we waited in reception, the dealer sold the car we had come to see to someone else!!. Without doubt the worst customer service experience ever. We are loyal VW owners but if ever our loyalty to the brand was tested, it was with this dealership. Really they don't even deserve one star but that is the lowest you can give. Interestingly, we went to another dealer in MK the next day and bought a similar car with exceptional/professional support from the sales staff at the second dealer. If only all VW dealers were the same! One salesperson (KJ) at Marshalls of Newbury did his best to recover a bad situation and he alone deserves credit but the rest of the team should go take a look at the service you can get from dealers who know what they are doing.

I have owned various VW cars over the past 15-20 years including 2 x Jettas and I x Golf, all purchased from different dealerships. Over the years I have received excellent service from VW and very few issues with vehicles purchased. Recently I bought a car from this dealership and unfortunately on this occasion a problem developed which meant that I had to return the vehicle. Whilst they did try to resolve the problem, my experience left me not feeling like a valued customer and I didn't get the support I have come to expect when buying VW cars. There were also other issues which should have been picked up before I took delivery of the car. It's a shame because I really liked the VW brand but I have since purchased another car and suffice to say its not a VW!

Not a great experience. Lots of salesman hanging around in the showroom but obviously it was not clear I had to walk around virtually every car to look at the individual spec for my requirements. Its clear they didnt want to make a sale on a Friday afternoon. You dont need to be swapped but an acknowledgement might have been nice. Oh well perhaps Reading will be more customer focused

I purchased a vw passat estate i was talked into buying it as it had very low milage,I went in looking for a new golf.how ever the salesman was very persuasive, at the time my mother was in a hospice dying of cancer and needed a new car as my old one longer reliable all of which i explained to the sales man .I bought the car cash, after a couple of weeks on checking the service record there were no services recorded ,again phoning the sales man a new service book appear in the post, with two service stamps, more suspicion .then the first service, i explained that there were some faults that needed rectifying and the said they would deal with these on collecting the car i asked if the faults were dealt with including a rear door seal as it was letting in water the reply i got was that they could do nothing about the rear door as in there service department words that was a characteristic of this model car ,tell that to vw i am sure they will be pleased. Also i was told the car was due for a cam belt as it was four years old and i would have to pay as it was not a warranty issue even though it now had 10,000 miles on the clock.to say the staff were un helpful is an understatement .i won't be dealing with Marshalls again Buyer be ware. I had to put a star in this review or it wouldn't let me post.

Contacted Volkswagon Newbury about buying a car and after the initial contact and confirming I am not a tyre kicker but would like a part ex value on my partners car but also got cash to buy they massively under valued the part ex and clearly done a HPI check on the car and priced it surprisingly exactly whats left on the finance. Secondly from the moment I spoke to the sales rep he was constantly trying to put me off the sale with me asking specific questions and asked them to email me the answers prior to further contact, didn't happen. I explained I got cash and asked for the cash price of the car but surprisingly still waiting. You would think a car dealership would be jumping to get your custom in the present time. Thirdly and agree with others its that person touch that secures a deal but unfortunately from my experience there wasn't any, but like I stated it was very clear the sales rep did not want to sell me the car, saying, Oh you are in Wales, oh I don't know if we deliver, oh I am not sure about the info you want so will get back to you but never did, oh not sure if we can put a deal together.
However I wanted to buy a car and got cash but as most of us would never pay the asking price for a car but unfortunately I don't known the asking price as they won't tell me , its just my personal experinace but very poor customer service but good luck to the company

Very happy with this branch of Ridgeway VW, and Marshalls don't seem to have changed that since taking over. First dealer I've ever returned to by choice and have now done so since 2012, bought two VWs from them and had all my servicing done there. Totally happy. I'll buy my next VW there too.
