It's all about who you know, right? I have an awesome person in my life that has allowed my fiance and I to stay in his room here at Squaw Creek. He's a penthouse owner. Honestly the place is nicer than my own home. I'd probably never, ever have the opportunity to stay in a room like this if not for the generosity and kindness of this person. I'm so grateful to have stayed here more than once.
The staff is amazing. Very helpful and very friendly and many of them have very nice moustaches. :) The bartenders downstairs are nice. Drinks aren't unreasonably priced and they are tasty. I recommend the chocolate martini. There is also a brownie sundae at that bar that's very good. To avoid confusion, it's an actual brownie; not a drink.
In winter there are stations set up for S'mores at certain times. It was awesome - we happened to wander by one of these real fires on our way to the spa. It was surrounded by chairs with a table of marshmallows, full-sized Hershey's bars, roasting sticks, and of course, a bowl of Graham crackers. However, not long after sitting down, first S'more almost perfectly browned, a family with several children came over and the kids were (Surprise!!!) a nightmare. The parents didn't seem concerned by the mess their kids were making - it was gross. No manners.
Once we reached the spa we realized there are 3 spas all scattered closely around the pool. Unfortunately, once again, parents with no manners were letting their kids go from spa to spa. Mind you, two of these are adults only. Why have an adults only spa? I'd answer this but I have a feeling there is a character limit for these reviews and I could go on and on. Either way, act like a parent and set a good example by following the rules. I think the resort could use a small gate around these two spas. Nothing inconvenient, no key, just something with a sign that maybe states more boldly "adults only".
Getting out of the spa was the hard part. Thankfully all rooms come equipped with big, fluffy robes to wrap in as you walk up the steps back to the rooms. That was nice. Even walking barefoot wasn't so bad with the plush warmth around our bodies.
Speaking of walking, the parking lot is a good walk from the hotel so make sure to get all your stuff in one trip if you're not a fan of walking. Honestly though, it surprises me how many times I heard people complain about this. Bringing it up in my review is not a complaint. Sure, it's inconvenient when if you want to just "run to the car real quick", but honestly, I am so thankful to have the ability to walk that I'd never complain about having to do it. Put on a faux fur lined hooded jacket, some mittens and some boots, and enjoy the breath-taking beauty that surrounds you at this resort.
