PROBABLY THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE DEPARTMENT EVE...
PROBABLY THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE DEPARTMENT EVER!!!! STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SANITY!!!!! IT'S A LONG REVIEW, BUT WELL WORTH THE READ.
I have purchased 3 cars from Reno Buick GMC Cadillac and have horrible experiences with each one. The first vehicle I purchased was a 2007 Cadillac CTS. I paid cash so I got a pretty good deal on it. The sales guy told me it was a certified vehicle and provided me with a list of all of the maintenance that had been done on the car. He explained that in order for the car to be certified, it has to meet certain standards.
Fast forward...2 weeks later. I decided to go visit family 8 hours away. When I was almost to my destination, my transmission started acting weird. By the time I arrived at my family's house, my car would barely go 40 miles per hour. I was in a small town, on a weekend and there were no shops open to look at it. I had to leave my car there and get a one way rental home. That Monday, my grandma took the car to a mechanic. He said there wasn't a big issue, however, it appeared that the transmission fluid had NEVER been changed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The dealership provided me a list, showing that the transmission was just serviced, by them. The shop changed the fluid, voila, problem fixed.
As if my first experience wasn't enough to make me stay away...I fell for it again. This time with a car for my sister, a 2009 Saturn. Again, I got a good deal on the vehicle, everything checked out, the vehicle was a Q certified vehicle, allegedly meeting certain criteria. A few months later, we started having issues with the vehicle. We took it to the shop at the dealership. After having the car for about a week, they decided to contact us and give us our FIRST update, advising that they had JUST looked at the car! Wait, what? We gave the car to them a week prior.I thought they would be calling to tell us it was ready for pickup! NOPE! They explained that they had to order a part and it should be done in a week. A week later, we picked up the car. A month later, it went back in the shop FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE SAID THEY FIXED. About a week later, the car was out of the shop. My sister went to pick it up, was driving for about 5 miles....THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. The light was not on before we dropped it off. This was the first time the light had ever come on. She took the car back. This time, they had the car for 3 weeks. Long story short, in the time they had the car, they admittedly FORGOT THE CAR WAS THERE! Finally, she got the car back, and as of last week, she is having the same issue that they were supposed to fix the first time she took the car in.
And because I am a glutton for punishment, I purchased a 2015 Chevy Malibu from them in Jan 2016. I had a great experience with the sales guy and I absolutely love the car. However, like with the previous cars, the car started to have mechanical issues. This time I paid $3,000 for an additional warranty on the car. I took the car in for a smell of coolant. The guy at the service department asked if I wanted to wait for the car, I told him that I would be back later. Then he asked, "well is it ok if we keep it until tomorrow?" Umm...why would you ask if I want to wait? Were you going to have me wait until tomorrow? I reluctantly said yes and got a ride home.
The next day, I called to check the status of the car because they had not called me. They told me I could come pick it up. When I arrived, they proceeded to tell me that yes, there is a leak, however, they do not know where from. HOLD ON A MINUTE....ISN'T THAT THE REASON FOR TAKING IT IN? TO HAVE THEM FIND THE PROBLEM?!?! I told him that his response was ridiculous and that's why we took the car in. Obviously there is an issue. He then told me that if the smell continues, I would need to bring it in again....and GM doesn't allow them to "just throw parts at vehicles." So, let me get this straight. My car has a coolant leak, it's covered under warranty, however, GM won't allow you to "throw the parts at it?" What a JOKE! My car still isn't fixed.
