FIrst off my wife and I made this reservation on July 1st as a last minute 4th of July vacation and our first time to Chicago. I have to say that everything was great with the exception of one thing, the comfort of the bed. It was horrible, which was a real disappointment but not too surprising due to the fact that the room rate for such short notice was $98/night. It's right next to a Metro stop, which is one of the reasons I chose this hotel. And for a decent surprise was I didn't have to pay for parking. I'm not sure if this was a normal procedure, but when we arrived we parked in the garage and I left the parking ticket in the car. When we walked up the front desk to check-in, they asked me if I had my ticket to validate it for me. I told her that I left my ticket in the car. She said "no problem" and then printed me out a new ticket and validated if for me and said that the rate would be charged to the room. I said "okay" and figured I'd see the $24/night on my credit card bill. Well, when we checked out on July 5th and left the parking garage, I inserted the ticket she originally validated and it let me go without having to pay, just as she promised. I checked my credit card statement and found out that she validated the parking ticket for free. I didn't have to pay the $24/night. This was a nice surprise, but overall we won't be returning and I can't recommend due the uncomfortable and outdated beds. That alone can a trip miserable.

This is by far one of my favorite hotels to stay when in Chicago. Why? Its a hotel all i need it for is to sleep shower and change. Its right next to the blue line so you can be central downtown in a heartbeat. Fairly cheap compared to the other hotels also clean. I wasn't looking much for a hotel in Chicago cause i wanted to spend more money on going out eating drinking and so on but it starts here with saving money on a clean hotel (side note you do have to pay for parking so just park the car in the garage ride the Blue line and use uber or the bicycles)

It was an ok hotel for the 12 hours we needed it. But we picked it on the fact the reviews said it was very clean. We found otherwise, there was blood splatter on the bathroom door and a wad of used chewing tobacco left on the back of the couch. Not too impressed

Booked a 2 bedroom suite, but got a 1 room suite. At 2 room price! Room was very small & narrow, weird lay out too. They charged for parking but didn't tell us they would. Room was not very clean - had hair, lots of stains on furniture. Strange decor. Very disappointing. Especially for the price.

Super mixed emotions about this place so I am going to do a breakdown on services and standards.

Parking:
There is ample parking which costs about $35/day (added to your hotel bill). This isn't a bad price for a full day and you can enter and leave as often as you like.

Room:
The first room we got had some issues and we were moved to a new room which was about the same size but configured differently. Both rooms were suites with a king bed. The rooms lack a microwave and the coffee pot will only provide a single cup of coffee. We were originally given just 2 cups and 2 coffee packets causing us to request additional coffee supplies several times over our two day stay. The TV in the bedroom was offset from the bed and could not be moved out so that both people on the bed could watch it with ease.

Cleanliness:
We had a cleanliness issue in our first room which I wont go into. I will say it was surprising and management was very quick to make it better. They covered my parking fees and moved me into a slightly upgraded suite (we were already in a suit, the upgrade had better linens and a slightly different configuration which allowed for a larger shower). In the second suite we had to rearrange the fold out couch to get it to fully extend for our son. Once moved we stirred up some dust bunnies that set off dust allergies for myself and my son.

Location:
Originally the location was somewhat of an issue for us as we wanted to be closer to downtown. For those who are flying or don't wish to be downtown, it's in a good location. Shuttles are available to transport travelers to and from the airport.

Customer Service:
The hotel staff were very quick to assist and bring additional room supplies when contacted. To this end I would say they did very well.

UPDATE: The hotel general manager spoke with the team member, emailed a gracious apology to me and offered reward points. I am grateful this process was used for good and to resolve customer issues.

Let me start by saying I have stayed 387 nights in Marriott Hotels in the last ten years or so. I am rarely dissatisfied and don t look for trouble. Trouble found us on our anniversary weekend here. If check in was any indication of the front desk issues I should have tuned in a little sharper. Our first check in person did not acknowledge our status. I have come to enjoy and look forward to this but no worries.
Come to discover our reservation was wrong. My confirmation was for 3 nights, they only had us for one. I was helped and upgraded. I thought it was over.

At check out I was charged incorrectly. I immediately brought this to the check out persons attention before exiting the property. She said it was the tax. $200 in tax??!! I insisted and showed my reservation. I used points for one night but was charged also. A manager took over, had me email my confirmation and manually made changes. This should have been sufficient except she charged my card again for the new total. Over $1000 in charges in under 10 minutes!
I told her to take that off, why didn t she just amend the first bill. She said it would fall off in 3-5 business days. I hate to admit it but I did cry.

No sympathy there though. I insisted this had to be fixed immediately. She said we could call our bank from there and she would give them a code.
Why not offer this at first?

Still no apology for the inconvenience....
I asked for the general manager s info. She gave it and I called him from there. I also emailed. I will update this review when I hear from him.

40 minutes later she gave us a print out of the letter she faxed and walked away. I kinda feel like you should too if you re thinking about staying here.
Sadly,
DB

Although I only used the Starbucks inside their lobby, I do often go since I work near by. The lobby alone is always clean, the staff is pleasant and the bar area seems to have quite a bit of traffic. If having to stay within a hotel near the airport. I would choose this one.

Im dinging them because it took forever to get our reserved room and i had to order an entirely nother room to accommodate for the time to sort out getting the reserved room. It literally took over two hours. At least the rooms were nice.

What a gorgeous hotel to stay in! The decor was absolutely stunning and breathtaking. I was there with my boyfriend from out of town in late May 2018! They have delicious food! The only dilemma I had was I left a pair of new jeans there and called back and no one knew where they were. So, if something is left behind, it should always be put in the Lost & Found if they have one.

Not good at all. The place is nice but they charge me twice. Why? They said there was 2 reservations under my name, so they charge me one room pluss the non show off for the second one..... I show off, I made my check inn on Oct 13th. Everything looks fine. Nobody told me there was a second reservation, for the same day, under my name.... Next day, check out, same as the previous day, everything was fine, I get my bill and paid it. Nobody told me there was another roon to be paid, which obviously was a system problem or in the worst case clearly a mistake. I only realized about the double charge now when I receive my credit card balance... Now, I called the hotel and already had to speak with couple of persons before reach the correct department. Eventhough the person there can not make desisions so need to check wit the boss. Don't know how many days I will have to wait for an answer, neither for the money back, but at the end it's a lost of time and a unconfortable experience made by the hotel mistake. Again, even if was not the hotel mistake, how they do not realized on the same day of my check inn/out about the double booking..... I only have one name and one Credit Card... Bad post sale service.

We ve been coming here for quite some time now , and we always get exceptional staff , however , there is one specific Woman who works the front desk on Friday and Saturday Overnights who works beyond her expectations and fulfills customer needs. Extremely helpful, kind and warm hearted . She makes check in so easily each time and most off , she explains everything to u and makes you feel welcomed . Rooms are very well cleaned and big , their pool is open and it s a great size pool ! Definitely coming back here again

It's a little far and cost around 1 hour to Loop by CTA blue line.
And cost around 20 min. to the nearest 7-11 by walk, but there is one starbucks at 1F of hotel.
Cheaper room fee and include breakfast buffet.

The hotel is very conveniently located, right near the Cumberland Blue Line station, yet set away from the bustle of most O'Hare hotels. The staff is courteous and professional. The rooms are very spacious and well-appointed with comfortable bedding, a large work area, a generous sitting area/"living room," and a large bathroom. Definitely recommended.

I stay at Marriott hotels every week and this Renaissance is wayyyyyyy over rated.

It is much worse quality than other Renaissance. Almost like it was something else first. The traffic is so loud outside the windows, the shower was dirty, the sink bowl was cracked and dirty, the parking garage is terrifying at night with no formal entrance to the hotel from the garage so it looks downright scary. The room was small and there is no way this hotel should be part of the Renaissance group of hotels that are generally quite nice all over the world.

On top of that the neighbors down the hall must have slammed their door 100 times during the night. No sleep....

My stay was fine but my credit card was compromised while staying here last week. Right after I checked in, I got an alert one of my credit cards had been added to a digital wallet (not my own) and fraudulent charges for Lyfts and Grubhub, Postmates were being charged. The only place I used/showed anyone this card was to at the front desk for incidentals. Watch your cards if staying here and pay in cash.

I guess people are too tired to make it to the center of the mattress, and then they don't rotate the mattress, so you pay a lot to sleep on a half-collapsed mattress. In the morning, I switched to the bed that wasn't in front of the TV and the room started settling violently for over an hour. 1/2" gap in caulking around the toilet. Blinds broken and coffee maker disgusting. Thermostat right next to the sunny window, so no way to set it really. Some critters on the sheets which reeked like Ozium. Terrible stay, even for airport hotel. Luckily didn't have a car because I think the parking was like $35/night. Found a nice room for half the Priceline price somewhere else.

My friend lost his all suitcases from his 10th floor hotel room including his office laptop, and passport. Hotel management sitting duck without compensation. Anyone who is looking to book this hotel, stay extra vigilant and cautious. Hotel security status is pathetic, including management efforts.

Absolutely dissapointed and heartbroken over this Hotel and their Staff. I was robbed by a man who stole all of my personal belongings from me IN my hotel room. I have never been more violated in my life, when I woke up to a man standing my room staring at me that morning (yes, my door was shut and locked, which they confirmed). The Director of Operations, GM and Corporate level did absolutely nothing to help me and disregarded my every call with no follow ups, unless I called them enough they finally answered my phone call. Their answer to me was to either call my Attorney to have their records subpoenaed or my Homeowner's Insurance to replace my belongings that were stolen. I have asked over and over again for proof of my hotel room key fob, which they WILL NOT provide me, after multiple attempts in asking. They held the Detective from Chicago PD off for over a month in looking at videos to prove that I had my purse with me getting off of the elevator at night. Their Director of Operations told me that the man I descibed in my room, did not work there, however, an hour later, that exact description of a male delivered towels to my co-workers room, who was also staying in the hotel. I have proof for 2 weeks that all of my credit cards and identity was used/stolen all over Chicago. I was robbed at 7:15 am and by 7:33 am theft charges were started on my accounts. Their Director of Operations still has not answered questions/calls I have sent him. I have never had such a poor response and/or service from a company at all levels,in my life. I believe they are covering up this robbery/theft and would highly advise you not stay here. They have zero concern for their guests and their well being. Over a month I have working with them and they have 100% acted as though this is my fault and have shown no remorse that this terrible incedent happened on their watch in their hotel.

I wish I could give 0 stars this establishment isn t African-American friendly, as soon as you enter the door the staff will start stereotyping you. I was asked to show ID for using my debit card after 3 other individuals paid with no ID needed. I lost a pair of shoes and the staff doesn t know what happened to them. Don t leave the room with even the slightest mess. They will cut your Key off and charge you for a cleaning fee and make you pay for another night. A couple of my friends told me that this was a racist establishment, but the prices brought me here anyways, I definitely regret it now. Do not stay here if you re black or have any sympathy for black people. It s plenty of other hotels around the area, SPEND YOUR MONEY THERE NOT AT THE RENAISSANCE. The front desk service was terrible, they were very rude, unprofessional, and hard to find. I am very displeased with my stay here and I will not be returning and I hope you take my words and do the same. Very noisy as well. Cool bed though.

Came here for 4the of July weekend. Let me start by saying that when we came In to the hotel i was really impressed by how nice it looked, the problem started when I went to check in and I told them that I had a family discount and they asked me to show them a paper copy of the family discount I told them that I didn't have it with me and that I would print one after I would get to my room, they said that it was ok but that they would have to put me at a normal rate until I would provide that paper I said that it was fine, when I came back with the paper copy they told me that they would add the discount and that it was all taken care of, well they never added the discount and the hotel ended up costing me an extra $350 dollars because they didn't do what they told me they were going to do. This does not make customers happy when they go on vacation and they get charged more that what they were told overall the hotel itself was good but the customers service part was really bad.

Great front desk staff!

Great front desk staff!
It had been a long day of cancelled flights and all I needed was a shower and some sleep. The staff welcomed me with no issues, took my airline voucher and put me in a beautiful room. Gave me a toothbrush and paste. Room was clean and spacious. Shuttle runs every half hour. Oh there is a starbucks in the lobby.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. The rooms & bathrooms are huge! It was clean enough for one night stay with a mini fridge for personal use but nothing else. No microwave/coffee maker. There are soda vending machines with ice available. Starbucks opens @0530 & it's fine for snacks.

Pretty nice place with good looking rooms. Dont have microwaves and they overcharge for parking even compared to other parts of chicago. Would be 5 stars if not for those two things. Also TVs arent smart TVs. Still great price and aesthetic

The public spaces are gorgeous, and their buffet lunch is delicious. When I have to visit our city office for work, a group of us normally visit for the buffet lunch and are never disappointed.
