Beautiful anniversary dinner with my lady. The atmosphere was just perfect for the special occasion, not loud from others, waiter was very knowledgeable of wines and the menu. Dinner for the evening was;
*Lemon, Garlic and Rosemary Rubbed Rack of Lamb
*Rainbow Trout with Lump Crab and Pecan Brown Butter
*Potato, Brussels Leaves and Onion Hash
*Croissant Bread Pudding
*Penner-Ash Pinot Noir

Dinner was awesome and the waiter offered to take a photo outside for our anniversary.

Was surprised they didn't comp the desert for our anniversary but it's all good. We are only talking $9.

If you haven't been here it is highly recommended!

We will be coming back, soon.

Review updated based on correspondence from management (my misunderstanding of a guest being rude to us versus management). This is a nice place and an enjoyable atmosphere within the Houston urban area. The food and drinks were wonderful, and the staff tended to our needs very promptly and with courtesy.

Pros:

Pros:
- lots of natural light
- tasty food (came for HRW)
- fast service, friendly staff
- offers a budget-friendly business lunch menu

Con:
- mandatory valet parking
- didn't specify whether valet was complimentary

Great food and wait staff. Impressed with the view and overall ambiance. If you are on the fence about gamey food, this is the place to go. I wasn't a fan before, but they know what they are doing! Will be back for sure!

My girlfriends and I love this place for happy hour. Yes, it is a little out of the way (we work downtown), but that's what we like about it. You can sit on the back patio and feel like you just got out of the city while overlooking their huge manicured backyard. The service is excellent, even if you are just lounging and drinking wine rather than having a full course meal. The closest public parking is across the street, and it can be a bit tricky and dangerous crossing Ella, but the valet is complementary.

Super delicious (and expensive) dining experience. I could not give higher accolades for the food served here though. This was the first time I paid more than twenty bucks for food and felt like it was worth every dollar of it in terms of portion size, flavor, and quality. This is probably the best tasting food in the Heights. Service was also charming, winesome, timely, and impeccable.

OMG. Biting into the meat was like heaven. If you like wild game, this is the place. We had the sampler as appetizer and I had elk plate. Worth all the money. There's a berry margarita that you shouldn't miss, too.

The food here was great! Parking is limited, especially during lunch hours. Great wild game selection, wine selection, and great service overall! Love this place! Definitely recommend and will definitely be going back.

Beautiful place, it is next to a creek, good for taking pictures, but service is really slow, even at lunch time. My friend salmon was undercooked. The bread is good, gumbo good, and rice pudding is good. I wouldn't go back because slow service, again.

Nice atmosphere, but too much light for a romantic dinner. Pretty loud in the main room. Wine list extensive, but expensive. Though, there are some good options. Food was good, but overpriced for the offer as compared to other restaurants in its class. I expected more for the special occasion, so I will think twice before going back.

Ummmm this place is insanely good. I think this is my new favorite restaraunt. Beautiful atmosphere. The food is impeccable. Tried Antelope here the first time, and WOWWWW!!! Our waiter Cyrus was awesome, smart funny guy, offered some excellent entrees and tbh I want to eat dinner here everyday!

We had such high hopes for this place especially having read the reviews, looked at the photos, and also the fact that we heard it was recommended for Houston food week. We ordered appetizers, mains included mixed grill, snapper, trout, osso bucco and sides. The food was either incredibly bland or overly salty. The meat was over cooked and tough. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly but kept forgetting to bring us whatever we requested, whether it was an extra napkin, water, bread, and salt and pepper.... terribly disappointed with this place.

Stopped n for dessert, cappuccinos and aperitifs...was so glad they welcomed us close to closing time. I was impressed that our server was so knowledgeable about the history of the iconic lodge as well as the restaurant as I remember eating More

Upon arriving, the hostess did not greet us with a smile or professionalism as would be expected in a fine dining establishment. When we were seated, we waited a several minutes before the wait staff greeted us. He did not introduce himself & quickly asked us what we would like to drink. I ordered a white wine (received a red), which later on I expressed to the waiter I did not like. He never asked if I needed guidance or had the sommelier come to our table for recommendations. When our appetizer was delivered to the table, the manager placed it down & never said a word; how about "enjoy" or "is there anything I can get you". The waiter rushed us through our entire dining experience & was literally fast walking (almost running) to all of his guests' tables. The entrees were lackluster at best. When we left, we asked the hostess if there was a sommelier on site and her response was "what is that?" We said, a wine guy; "oh yes we have one of those."

Don't waste your time or money. There are so many better restaurants in Houston.

A bit on the pricey side though not crazy! Brunch goes from about $10 to $30 if ordering seafood. Service was good, food was delicious and view was amazing! It's a great spot for brunch with friends! My little ones enjoyed the outside area AND mimosas are only $3!
I will be back, for sure!

Kept getting this place recommended to me as an awesome date spot. Finally gave in and came. So glad I did. Food was excellent, sommelier was excellent, service was excellent. They've got some great exotic cuts of meat that are prepared perfectly. So now I recommend the same -- take your significant other to Rainbow Lodge for a great date night :)

We went here for our wedding anniversary. The skinny: Great experience. Nice place. Excellent service. Negatives: Valet only parking around the restaurant. Self-parking is across the street and wouldn't always be convenient (ie., heels, long dress, rain, etc.). However, only a short wait for the car, so wasn't a problem in the end. Great food and impressive wine list. I'm a vegetarian so you're probably wondering what I was doing there. Well... did I mention the wine list? JK, in fact, I was curious after seeing a brief article that listed this place as a top option for an anniversary. They did have vegetarian options (sides, salads, and an excellent gnocchi pasta dish) and if you eat seafood, there is plenty to choose from. My husband had the duck and he was quite impressed. This place made our night, and believe me it could have gone either way. We had an argument in the car on the way to the restaurant. Also the GPS froze up and we missed the exit and got there about 10 minutes past our reservation. So when we arrived I was not in a good mood. But the staff was friendly, and we only waited about 5 min to be seated. They had one of my favorite wines that I've never been able to find in a restaurant or bar of any kind in Houston, even when it appears on their wine list. So not only did this place have the wine, it was awesome and served at the perfect temperature. By the time our food arrived, we were in good spirits talking and enjoying ourselves. The ambience of the place helped as well. It's warm and relaxing without being pretentious and overdone. The prices and options reflect a range of tax brackets, so you can splurge if you want to but you don't have to. Even so, this restaurant feels special so you should expect a little more on the higher end than at a comparable chain restaurant. As with the food and drinks, we had no complaints about the service. Our waiter was attentive, but not intrusive, and when he smiled and spoke, it didn't feel phony or forced. In other words, he didn't neglect us or try too hard. Just friendly and professional. While waiting at the bar for our table, we had the same experience with the bartenders. This was one of the best, if not the best, restaurant experience I've ever had in Houston.

To be honest, this is my first visit to their new Location. I was wondering how they were going to bring the atmosphere and ambience of original location here. They knocked it out of the park on all levels! Soooo good, SO lovely, and Mark Anthony was incredible providing our dining experience. I highly recommend Rainbow Bow Lodge AND Mark Anthony

This restaurant is a beautiful and romantic place. Receptionist was amazing. She went out of her way to fulfilled my request. They took Covid-19 seriously and made us feel comfortable. The food was delicious and our waiter (Cyrus) was great. My wife and I really enjoyed it.

The scenery is fantastic and the service is great!

The bar didn't seem to be a happening place at the time I went, and the bar tenders were not as attentive and personable as I expected.

This is a must try, if anything, for the nice outdoorsy view.

I always mean to take a picture of my meal when I get it so I can post the deliciousness, but whenever my plate hits the table, my mind tells me to eat it immediately because I know it s awesome. The burgers on Friday are a must have. Friends of ours have also said the brunch is equally as great.

There's something supremely relaxing about sitting down for a quiet lunch/dinner in this serene restaurant-converted-from-home. The separate little rooms and carefully maintained garden combine to form a place with a high feng shui quotient, perfect for de-stressing after some time in the office. They also keep it nice and cool during the hottest summer months.

The dishes are classic with not much experimentation or novelty, but that is to be expected with a place like this. Everything I've tried during my 2 visits has been tasty enough. Last time I had garden salad w/ peaches & snapper/jambalaya.

Worth trying at least once just for the building, which feels more like a historical home - with it's high ceilings and tall windows - than a restaurant.

Ate here last fall, I could have swore I rated this place but somehow this thing went missing.

In a nut shell, the food here is worth the wait. Excellent slow-cooked Pulled Pork Sliders as starters. For our main, I went with Steak-n-Eggs, and my GF went with the Mixed Grill. Was our first time trying Venison and Quail. Not bad at all.
This cozy Log Cabin escape's classic decor, somehow makes me want to go out hunting. :)

They have nice Bar and Patio area too. Will visit again soon.

Wow! Wonderful meal in a rustic lodge. Excellent service from a very knowledgeable waiter who could immediately pull up a photo of the African Antelope I was eating. Chocolate Pecan Pie was amazing desert.

Food was decent but definitely overpriced. The menu is limited so it s best you browse it before arriving just in case there s nothing you like. Don t skip dessert. It was definitely the best part!

The best dining experience I have ever had and my new favorite place to eat. If I had to describe the food, ambience, and service in one word, it would be "perfection." Get the 5 or 7 course meal and you will not be disappointed.

Food is fantastic, no doubt, but there is always some kind of attitude problem with the wait staff. I've been going here for years and each visit I am always disappointed in the service. It's subtle, but it's a pretentiousness you can't miss. This place would get 5 stars if it weren't for the wait staff.
