Good restaurant that deserves a visit for its period decor. Cuisine with satisfying traditional flavors
Good restaurant that deserves a visit for its period decor. Cuisine with satisfying traditional flavors
Lovely, Devine, service and food are magnificent. Price is very reasonable for the quality!
Everything you expect from a classy French restaurant. Great menu and wine list, professional service. Fabulous old building.
My braised beef cheek had a hair in it.. discovered it as I was just halfway through my dish. They took my plate away and did not even offer to replace it with a new dish. I was left there still hungry but just billed out as the excitement over the food was gone. They still included my HALF eaten braised beef cheek in the bill so we still had to explain to them that we are not happy to pay for it before they unwillingly took it off our final bill.
Very good experience, I advise everyone to come at least once, very traditional dishes as we like them.
Great place. It seems like a museum! Best got chocolate ever!
Coq au vin very good, excellent starter and desserts. Service leaves something to be desired. Very long to come and take the order.
We spent a very pleasant evening. Traditional bourgeoise cuisine (rooster with wine, veal head, snails ...) The dishes are hearty and well done, the waiters friendly and not without humor, the restaurant is filled with interesting historical details.
4 stars instead of 5 because I found the Tiramisu too sweet and the restaurant does not offer a box to take a dish.
It's past it's heyday. Tourist trap. Escargot was a let down, our entrees were good, but decor was dated. It needs a good refreshing. We had Veal stew and Braised beef cheeks. The wine menu could be better as well. My daughter liked her salmon kid's plate, so that was good.
The entrees were ok even though they were expensive
For the main course, the service was very slow. We waited 1 hour to be served:
-a cod that was overcooked (very dry) with vegetables that were all cold.
-a partridge parsley or there was only skin bones and some dried flesh for 42 euros!
- a calf's head at 27 euros that looked more like a sparrow's head with practically only vegetables
- a revolutionary beef: 2 pieces of beef fillet the size of a plum with a slice of foie gras without taste associated with the cheek of beef (piece little noble that is used in canteens) all for 42 euros !!!
We sent the cod and the partridge back to the kitchen, and our friend who had ordered the calf's head refused to pay it with good reason!
You may be misleading tourists who are impressed by the historic setting and who will probably never come back but not people from the Paris region like us who have already come and who have been extremely disappointed
We left unhappy with a bill of 200 euros.
Last time because made for tourists. A little factory. Blanquette of veal, however, excellent.
Noisy. Renowned for its history more than its present
I discovered the procope more than 20 years ago, it is a history book where the history of France transpires on the
walls and we can travel open book travel open to all those who love Paris, loaded with
Muu and bad attention, I got up and left because of how rude the staff is
We all ate very well just a caveat on the water in a carafe which had a slight taste .....
What a delight for the taste buds, delicious dishes and a place steeped in history. We are welcomed and served by professionals who keep the values of a very good Parisian table.
Time for a gourmet coffee. Very disappointing experience. Minimalist home. Waitress does not have any sense of service. Do not know the map. Do not answer questions. Unable to approach the table to take the order. On the other hand she did it to bring the addition of 30 for 2 gourmet coffees. Arrivals the first of a group of 3 tables but served last. Cold coffee. Industrial pastries. I do not recommend it.
Amazing food in the midst of history. Highly recommended.
I don't know where to start, positive impression '' Decor was great''
But I and my husband were completely disappointed. Service was terrible, food was OK.
Exceptional place which is worth its letters of nobility.
Cuisine of traditional French dishes of exceptional quality.
The flat bench needs to be reattached.
Despite the reputation that can be scary (the oldest restaurant in Paris, there will be no place without reservation ...), it is actually very welcoming. The team placed us very well for an aperitif even at 7 p.m. The reception and the servers are very friendly and not at all expeditious.
Very nice place to eat in Paris. Certainly the story of coffee is the big trump (see Napoleon's hat as you go upstairs). Food decent but not anything special. If you want to see a bit of Paris history you have to visit it, if you expect gourmet food you will be disappointed. However it is recommended.
Rest too much on his reputation, the history and the old, it's good but the wobbly tables and chairs uncomfortable, it does not go - 1:30 waiting to receive our entrances, servers overwhelmed, unpleasant .. The food is ok although I did not like the floating island pralines ... Too sweet and pralines bring nothing more to this dessert historically laden with sweetness (my grandmother was already floating islands there over 70 years ago and she always respect his sweetness without adding anything crisp)
Very warm place but not without difficulty to get there (attention: the entrance which is located in the small alley is not open you have to go through the street of the old comedy) a very warm service in a lounge atmosphere unpretentious, very simple tea. The deserts are very rich but delicious.
I was not above to discover a REAL hot chocolate (for my part very good with a little more milk)
I highly recommend even if the ouaw was not there
It is a place full of history, which reminds us of the French writers and poets who have marked our literature. The setting is superb. However, it is a brasserie, not a high-end restaurant. Fairly high price, decent dishes. Do not lift the tablecloth, you will be disappointed. If you don't know, go for the ambiance.
Such a wonderful restaurant! Perfect meal of Onion soup and sea bass. Wine paired perfectly. Such lovely service and beautiful room. Merci beau coup!!
Wednesday evening we ordered a "Tete de boeuf" for our meal; We were served 25 minutes later (watch in hand) and about as much between each course. In addition the "beef head" consisted of a very small piece of meat with a huge straight tongue (not rolled or prepared) all floating in a tasteless tasteless broth!
What we are sure is that this will be our last visit and that we do not recommend anyone to walk through the doors of this restaurant.
Don' t eat here! When I read a review about this restaurant, where people said that they vomited from their food - I didn't believe. We had a veal stew and a coq au vin. Nothing special, bonus one day in bed with sicking stomach.
Mythical and essential place of saint Germain, decent prices, excellent table and very warm setting
Waiting service is quick. Unbeatable Dekor. History.
Lots of waiting in the evening, take a reservation.
Very good restaurant. Rich tradition. Excellent service.
One of the waiters is originally from Macedonia
A must-see Parisian restaurant.
An excellent menu, good wines, attentive and pleasant employees.
To visit absolutely.
The setting is simply magnificent.
A taste of the beautiful era, you feel transported to another era ...
Paris icon. Exquisite (and expensive). See the supposed Napoleon hat.
To have a delicious coffee or to enjoy a quick meal.
Difficult to miss the oldest restaurant in Paris without stopping there. Location steeped in history but very rough service and irregular dishes (risotto?!?)
It's ok, not more. Nice decor, but small place and small tables with regular, but then certainly not spectacular Food. Prices are ok and Service is nice, but not partcularly Special. Ok for a one-time visit to be able to say "I was there", that's it. There are dozens of places with similar decor and better Food in Paris.
Very nice, beautiful setting, historic side and reasonable prices.
Very beautiful restaurant inside. Food was good, though the onion gratin soup was a bit too salty. Good service. English menu and English-speaking staff.
A famous traditional French restaurant with a Napoleon hat hanging at the entrance
You can feel the meat cooked in wine
You can taste it only when you eat it with wine.
The price is high
The toilet is on the second floor and the atmosphere on the second floor is luxurious.
The second floor seems to have many group seats and rooms
Koreans go a lot
Enjoyed it a great deal. Not cheap, but if you pay attention to the 'menu du jour', you'll get a great deal in one of the most historical places in Europe.
Very nice setting full of history.
Average service, unpleasant chef de rang, it lacks the little extra that makes all the difference like appetizers ...
Very good dishes, by the way
Good food in a unique setting, (especially upstairs room Chopin); the atmosphere is nice.
You cannot go to Paris without having eaten in this real antique salon
Walked in. No bar to sit at. Did not eat here. Just wanted a drink. Was looking for one particular meal. A local behind me told me it is mainly tourists and to try eles where for authentic.
Place was amazing. Will go back every time I'm in Paris
To be a restaurant with such a high price it can not be that I am eating side by side with two couples that I do not know about anything, to go to the bathroom to shit you had to move the table as if it were a tetris because you were cornered. rest of the restaurant with a few museum rooms have them empty while the rest are all down like sardines in a can. Food very good but scarce. Ideally, visit it to go to the bathroom and leave without eating anything.
Good food but long wait for table even though we booked many hours in advance.
A walk out. I rarely walk out on a reservation. A fine old place, filled with sedate tourists. With spotty service at front, woefully, impossibly inept at table. Strange. Fortunately, I left, went to a corner bistro up the street for a dose of reality. Avoid.
Procope responded to my above comment with the canned, vaguely insulting blurb shown below.
Avoid.
And don't forget - in Paris restaurants the service is included in the bill. Leave a few euros extra if you feel like it.
The price is a little low (2 adults, 110 euro), but the flavors are generally good, instead the lemon praffe, which comes out as a dessert, was a little ... dingy. . I went to L'Aubergade a while ago and it seems that L'Aubergade is better at racing.
Lemon syruped Prappe was too soaky
To avoid STRONGLY!
Visit May 14, 2019 in the evening: bland dishes without taste. A total disappointment! A real scam for the price: we went out hungry ... the waiters advise you a cocktail of the day: a kind of mini Gin-tonic bland in a glass ultra mini (theft for the price). the artichoke salad, with only 1 / 10th of tasteless artichoke ... the risoto bland without surprise ... and the rest the same: a canteen taste, tasteless, boring, insignificant.
In short, a waste of time.
There are many other restaurants in Paris not to waste time here.
Here is a bit of a tourist trap restaurant, where you get bored with food but where the price of the old decor is present on the bill ...
This place full of history with its beautiful interior vault visit. By cons I booked my table well in advance with the explicit request to have a table on the floor. I was alone. He stashed me in a corner on the ground floor without any interest in front of the kitchen door. Door that was moreover very noisy by the kicks given by the servers.
The meal was fine, but nothing. The atmosphere was that of a Mc Donnalds. Excited and noisy. The staff was not aware of the history of this place which is a shame.
But the place is still a very interesting and I recommend during your visit to Paris.
Very cultural, the dishes and service are very good
Pleasant to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the place. Excellent soup d'oignon. Average high prices in line with the bistros of the same level. The only drawback is the wait at the table.
Supposedly the first cafe in Paris. Go upstairs and see Voltaire's actual desk.
We were in this cafe in mid-May 2017, I liked it very much. They took onion soup (tasty, tried it only here, so I can t compare), snails (really big, tasty), veal cheeks with pasta under parmesan (very tasty and huge portion), table rose wine in a decanter (I liked it). The bill came out 63 euros for two, which is inexpensive for Paris and such an institution. Service at the highest level: quickly, politely and somehow humanly, or something like that - we ordered one main dish for two, and they brought both of us plates and appliances, put a saucepan in the middle. A very atmospheric place, if I suddenly find myself still in Paris, I will definitely come.
Average lunch menus - basic and filling. Good if youre hungry but service is slow. Unsure due to cultural differences. Historical value. YMMV.
The place was pleasant. The cuisine is excellent, fresh oysters and in general everything is fresh. The service is of course so-so, but it is everywhere in France. Russians are simply spoiled by excellent service, in France the main cuisine;) Although Prokop restaurant is second about the cuisine, there are many tourists who want to join the story and take a look at Bonaparte's cocked hat. Tip: take a quick menu and do not worry - the salad and the second - 21 euros. Plus a glass of wine and enjoy the atmosphere! Enjoy your meal:)
Place Full of history. Very friendly and great food
Actually just explored the interior of one of France's oldest restaurants, open since 1671, which is like a history trivia museum. Saw the equivalent of "Ben Franklin ate here," one of Napoleon's hats, many elegant intricately decorated dining rooms, and a few lovely alley-side tables for alfresco dining. I plan to eat here after speaking with several diners who said it was pretty good. The dishes I saw being whisked past me to be served looked wonderful, and there were many marvelous scents I savored.
Le Procope is now on my bucket list, simply for the fun of it.
Excellent traditional French cuisine. Soupe a l'ognion incredible!
Despite the environment do think a classy place, it is only the facade of one of the many tourist traps.
Live story! Where some thinkers idealized the French revolution!
The history of the place is always felt. Good welcome...
Historical place, but very closely and the kitchen is not impressed.
