I carry the burden of history within me. Places change over time, but the memory remains unchanged. The question arises, which is more real? Terror is the immediate menace of otherness. And yet, you remain the same, even when stripped of your titles. I enjoyed an exquisite traditional coq au vin at this historical venue, while Robespierre was glaring at me in his frozen fierceness.

The setting is historic (since 1686), it is possible to have lunch on the terrace to enjoy a bit of the cool summer. At noon it is possible to take a menu. The main course was delicious, a trout miller. It is nice to have lunch in this restless neighborhood in a quiet terrace. Fast service. So to recommend.

Always equal to itself but more clean and sparkling. You drink, and the food is good and the prices are not higher than any place where you are not sitting the great Enlightenment and the French Revolution

The setting is very chic and old style. You will also be able to see Napoleon's hat. Even the toilets (you have to climb the pretty staircase) are like that of a castle.
Coffee was cheaper a few years ago. Today it is 3.5 euros. I recommend it for tourists for a special and unique experience. For locals I think there is no reason to go a second time.

I give this restaurant 5 stars. Came here on a Friday night (October 7), after a stressful drive from the Loire Valley with no reservations, 2 hungry irritable kids ages 11 and 4 years at 8.30 pm looking very under dressed for the establishment but they were more than willing to accommodate and made our last supper in Paris one of the most memorable of our holiday. Service was excellent, staff were attentive and the food was divine. There's so much history to the place that a lot of people miss that just adds to the overall atmosphere. This is our last impression of Paris and so thank you Le Precope! BTW the nougat dessert is to die for....

Wine is also recommended.

coq au vin It's amazing
Taste is sour.
The taste of the well-established store is rather versatile. The baguette tasted gel.
There is a Napoleon hat in the middle of the stairs on the 1st and 2nd floor. And if you go up the stairs half way to the right, there is the last table where several celebrities sat.

To do absolutely, exceptional setting. Staff very caring. We are in the beautiful hotel in the French. It's a pleasure. Quiet afternoon for a snack. Living lunch for lunch ... do not hesitate

Excellent cuisine in a historic setting. I really enjoyed myself and my friend too. The dishes are rich, rich, efficient service although there are many people. Fortunately, I booked! Saturdays are full. Excellent wine, elegant and distinguished Givry. An onion soup worthy of praise but very high in calories ... a mushroom puff pastry tasted with an egg, a detail that changed everything, excellently cooked. The coq au vin was appreciated
And the calf's head as in 1686 a slaughter. Good desserts, it will be for next time
And do not forget the decor full of historical references.

A must.

A place steeped in history and highly touristy. The food is generous and the service impeccable. We rediscover the declaration of human rights and other historical and crisp stories of our France. A real museum-restaurant!

Here you can experience history. In a restaurant where important personalities met in order to eat and drink, in addition to interesting decoration and unfriendly and arrogant waiters you can have delicious food. You will not get enough, since the portions are of course relatively small. But it costs a lot.

The idea that Benjamin Franklin in this cafe / restaurant sat let me however over all negative neglect.

Hello Review on a meal as a couple on 05/10/2013 22h
Booking for 22h, waiting in a corner without attentions until 22h20
The salmon ordered on the map miraculously turned into hake without warning us it is true that we came with a purchase evening privilege (dinner show) so in this case we must take us for hams.
I advise the calf, unless you like it almost raw, for info our neighbors were also disappointed.
Concerning the wine, an infected red, bar at the head of the first glass.
I think this establishment lives on its historical side.
But the food is worse than a canteen anyway that night
I did not make a scandal but I was boiling, in any case enjoy many passing customers because I doubt that you hook followers with this level so low;
Personal never again.

Very good, French food with nice variety on the menu. Ordered the cod and tiramisu for dessert, they came out delicious and in ideal quantity. There is also a full menu proposal: starter, main course and dessert. We arrived without a reservation (6:30 pm) and were greeted quickly for dinner. But it is recommended that you make a reservation. It was crowded when we left.

Unmissable place in Paris.

Unmissable place in Paris.
Eating at Le Procope is emblematic, especially as you revel in a historic setting.
A wonderful welcome and service.
I highly recommend

Amazing service from start to finish, fine wines, beautiful food, the braised beef cheek is full of flavour, and the paris brest was a perfect desert, washed down with and espresso and a cognac. For service and quality was about right for what we paid. Thanks to jean our waiter, lovely chap thanks again memorable experience.

My wife and I had a wonderful evening. Welcome and wonderful service (thank you to Christophe), my wife in a wheelchair has, for once in the restaurant, had no problem to sit at the table. Top starters (frogs and foie gras), nickel dishes (beef fillet perfectly cooked & delicious beef cheek), I stalled on the Paris-Brest, a first :) We will return with great pleasure.

Beautiful place, if you eat downstairs, do not forget to visit the floor by going to the toilet (tips!). Otherwise the tea is of high quality but we paid way too much for a burnt pancake. Maybe it's a bad day for the cook, we will not hold it against him. I really recommend it because it's a place that will put your eyes on it.

The environment gives a 4a, as does the appetizer (vegetable soup and salad) and the dessert (ice cream with almond and amaretto). The main courses (lamb and fish) were totally ok and good but no wow experience. Service correct but no more.

This historic restaurant, which is said to have fed Napoleon among others, is highly recommended. The staff is very friendly and the food is just delicious. I would come back anytime

Le Procope is the oldest cafe in Paris. The legendary restaurant is in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. It was opened in 1686 and it is a place full of history. The interior is just amazing, so is the food. It's a must if you're visiting Paris.

Although the food was ok, we ate in the middle of several mice that were walking in the middle of the restaurant room. Following our remark, the reaction of the staff was very disappointing with veins attempts to make them flee instead of us changing rooms. In addition, no excuse for our departure or even to treat us as liars

I liked the dessert.

I liked the dessert.
Normal food, but the price is of another level.

Historical establishment of course and very well known for the celebrities of French history who went there to eat, write their speeches, their books, their plays or their poems. Despite their notoriety, the staff are full of good humor and the meal - excellent - takes place in a relaxed atmosphere.

Parisian classic, fabulous atmosphere, both the small rooms on the ground floor and the imposing tables on the 1st floor. Food well to be desired, the ambience is 10, food is 5, with a classic onion soup delicious and super rich, a risotto indicated on the trust menu totally bland, without seasoning and with very raw grains, more or less dessert. It was worth it for the total experience of visiting the famous and old restaurant (which my family talked about so much), but not for the food.

Coq au vin too dry, waiters a little outdated, and prices a little excessive (I imagine that we pay the story of the place) short, not far from being a tourist trap. You can find a lot better in the area, and surely for less.
