Actually, Pitney Bowes earns no stars from me. I've been trying unsuccessfully to confirm that I DO NOT WANT TO RENEW MY LEASE which expires on Sept 30th. I can't speak to a live person. I've left voicemail messages, started cases online (what a joke---it gave me wrong information. I was given a 1-800 # but it was a # in the states and they cannot cancel Canadian accounts. She gave me the phone number which I can't get through on, it's been busy all day. I finally tried another 1-800 number and got through to a Sales Representative who transferred me to the right department and I still didn't get through to anyone. I left another voicemail message. I am not sure what to do now.

We have been in contact with this company multiple times since February to return our postage meter. They say they need to charge $100 to pickup the machine but will match any quoted shipping amount. We went and got a quote from FedEx for $40.79 including taxes to ship it back. When we send this info to email addresses that we get from their returns department we get no reply. This is very frustrating and is indicative of a company that just doesn't care.

Pitney Bowes is, without doubt, the most difficult company I have ever dealt with in 50 years of business management. Customer service consists of non-responsive 'Cases', unanswered emails & seemingly interminable hold times of over an hour on support lines only to be told that you do not have the right Department and automated, circuitous 'customer support' lines handled by robotics. I am currently looking at 6 invoices which were paid last year which suddenly had add-on's removed from our bank account in amounts up to $78 for completely unexplained charges.
DO NOT provide PB with any direct deposit information among many other codicils. Since the use of the word fraudulent can be interpreted in many ways it is generally to be avoided in most situations, however ....
As other reviewers have commented, the site will not allow negative review numbers so I have reluctantly given this a single star.

This company is terrible! They kept calling and asking if i wanted a machine that could print postage. I don't mail anything and primarily use e-mail or phone. This did not stop the calls! Six calls later i was finally able to convince them that i did not need this piece of equipment but the lady on the phone (shanti) was very rude!

This company should be avoided at all costs, after calling and calling me to have one of their infernal machines even though I only use the mail about 6 times a year and assuring me I could send it back at any time if I was not satisfied. I thought I would take a look and have a think if I could make use of it, however I received the monstrous thing and it was far too big for my tiny office and it seems my "top it up any amount and get it half price" only went up to $200 max. When I called for my promised return waybill they said I was obliged to keep it for a year because of "verbal agreement" and I received a bill for it even though the first two months are supposed to be "free"
The sales people are very pushy and talk over you and the people I have dealt with after are very un helpful and do not return calls or emails.
My saga continues. Even if they gave me free post for life I would not go near them!

The Pitney Bowes business model: sign-up unsuspecting customers into years-long contracts, provide sub-standard, second-rate equipment and zero customer service. When the customer complains, ignore them as long as possible. A year later, send an email stating that: "the Lease is a non-cancelable agreement. However, your satisfaction is important to us" and offer to terminate for a settlement amount higher than the remaining outstanding balance on the contract.

Their service is unbelievable, unacceptable and it's shocking that they are still in business! If there were an option for negative stars, they'd be at -5!

ZERO stars. I have been trying with no success to arrange a simple name change with this ridiculous company for going on three months. Their process is so convoluted and stupid that it is impossible to get anywhere. Then they keep sending me emails saying that they're "closing the case file" and I have to start all over again. I HATE this company with a burning hellish passion and I hope they go out of business sooner rather than later. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

So I've been waiting for my package to arrive. I check the tracking and am told its been sent back to the seller. No reason provided other than delays in shipping. Well, it was shipped back to the seller and no reason provided. Tried to call them but you can't, Can only send a text message and they charge you $5. As if I'm going to chance it by paying for a text message when Pitney Bowes cannot be reached and give no explanation as to why its going back to the seller. What a scam. This company needs to be reported and lack of service needs to be made public. No wonder you can't be reached.

Dear readers,

Dear readers,

Please do not sign up with Pitney Bowes. There is absolutely no ROI and I will show this through a cost calculation below. In addition, it is difficult and time consuming to resolve any account issues with this company. I personally regret signing up with this company. They have cost us many hours of personnel time and have ended up costing us more per stamp, not less as they advertise.

Cost of Pitney Bowes = Stamp + Printer Ink + Rental Fee

Canada Post Stamp = $0.85 or $0.89 with 5% GST

If there was an ROI, then Pitney Bowes should come in under $0.89 per stamp.

Stamp
You are required to sign up for $400 of postage ($440 with 5% GST) and then they will give you a $200 sign up rebate. This is good for your first 500 letters. All additional postage that you purchase is at the regular rate ($0.84 / stamp).

Cost of first 500 stamps with rebate = $0.44
Cost of additional stamps = $0.84

After 8 months and multiple phone calls we have yet to receive our $200 rebate.

Printer Ink
Our ink cartridges were able to print 256 envelopes.
Ink Cartridge = $73.49 + $10.49 shipping = $83.98

Cost of ink per envelope = $83.98 ink / 256 envelopes = $0.317

First 500 Stamps + Ink = $0.44 + $0.32 = $0.76 ($0.13 less than Canada Post)
500+ Stamps + Ink = $0.84 + $0.32 = $1.16 ($0.27 more than Canada Post)

Rental Fee
Monthly rental fee = $18.85

To reduce the per stamp rental overhead you will need to print a lot of stamps. We need to get the rental fee down to $0.13 to simply break even.

Stamps to break even = $18.85 rental / $0.13 buffer = 145 stamps

Your company would need to send 145 letters per month to simply break even with Canada Post. At this rate you will use all of your rebated postage within 3.5 months. Ever subsequent month will cost you.

User Experience
This company is disorganized and are unable to resolve issues.

Pitney Bowes is a different company from Pitney Works. They work together but bill out separately. When we first signed up, Pitney Bowes did not transfer the $400 postage to our account properly, they did not give us the $200 sign up credit, they did not send us any invoice or statement showing that we had an outstanding balance, and they charged us late payments every month that we had this (unknown) balance.

From the beginning we were receiving regular invoices from Pitney Bowes and we were paying these as they came in. Since we were receiving regular invoices there was nothing that indicated to us that we had an outstanding balance with Pitney Works.

I called their support line 3 times, on average spending 1+ hours per call (including time on hold), to try and get our $200 rebate applied to our account. This issue is still unresolved. My labour having to manage the incompetencies of this company is additional overhead on our per stamp cost.

DO NOT USE PITNEY BOWES!!!

Conclusion
There is no possible way to break even on this investment. DO NOT SIGN UP. They lock you in for a 12 month contract. To get out of your contract you need to pay the balance of your rental and the shipping cost to return the equipment.

Cost of Pitney Bowes = Postage + Ink + Rental + Labour to manage this incompetent vendor.

I worked for this company back in 1991 when our office was on Lenworth in Mississauga. After one year my services were terminated after turning my area around with fast response time and repairs. Being the new kid on the team and reading the reviews guess it was a blessing. It was a great company guess things go downhill when you keep the dead weight... Looks good on them....

This has been the worst experience for customer service that we have had in 15 years of running a business. They constantly charged interest on the machine even though they only allow you to make a payment via online that works half the time. Bounced us around for 4 hours on hold from one department to US. back to same starting point all to make a payment and cancel. I DO NOT SUGGEST any business use this service for mail, any other option would be better than the past year we have had with Pitney.

Dear Mr. CEO.

Dear Mr. CEO.

I hope you're reading this email. As the Manager of Finance with my company, I attempted to reach PB on January 10th. Well, I spent a total of 3 1/2 hours just "on hold", waiting for a representative. As at 2:27 PM, I still have not been able to speak with someone. I will do everything in my power to disassociate myself from this company, and relieve ourselves from using PB. Horrible wait times! Unacceptable!.

WORST SHIPPING/TURN AROUND IN THE BUSINESS

WORST SHIPPING/TURN AROUND IN THE BUSINESS

Horrible business, eBay and who ever else uses your services need to discontinue immediately.

my package cleared customs and was accepted into Canadian postal over 12 days ago.

For almost 2 WEEKS, you have sat on my package and I was forced to go out and spend additional money to purchase the product at the margin increased price that retailers have, costing me over $100 in total.

0/5 stars if that was possible.

Absolute buffoonery. I had to call their toll free number 4 times, was transferred to 7 different people, and hung up on twice. My request? I politely asked to which mailing address a customer would return a leased piece of equipment. It's as if they're so concerned about account cancellation they would prefer to hang up on callers than provide a mailing address. Seeking the return instructions took me about half an hour, and I was even transferred to the US customer service line. Incredible.

this is a horrible company they leave you on hold forever, then you can't even leave a vm because the mail boxes are full. What kind of rinky dick operation is this? The only reason I gave them 1 star is because it wouldn't let me post if I didn't.

Although a delay in delivery route triggered system update as a delivery attempt which was really not an attempt but their way to say that it was too late for the driver to deliver here at 4:42, I was pleased to be able to track my package whereabouts from the website. It now indicates next day delivery. We'll see! It came through Thank you!

Agree with the other reviews. Horrible business model. We have attempted to close the account, which took months. After finally getting some refund for upfront payments I thought this was over. However, we have received a different bill from Pitney Works for something else days after. I think I need a wooden wedge to put out all accounts with this horrible company. Like zombie, connection with this business refuses to be ended.

The customer service with this company is complete...

The customer service with this company is completely missing. Since February 8, 2017 I have been trying to confirm that I do not want to renew my lease on my equipment. My lease expires at the end of May. I cannot actually talk to a live person. I have tried emailing through their webpage. I haven't received a response to my questions. I called the sales lady that was trying to get us to renew our contract. She gave me an email address and phone number. You can't actually talk to a live person at that number. I have email the address she gave me I haven't got a response, but I did get a subcontractor of Pitney Bowes calling to arrange the pick up of my machine. I questioned the contractor as to why he would call to book six weeks ahead of schedule and he had no answer for me as he thought it would be within the next couple of days. I have sent three more emails since I spoke to the transport company but I have not received a response. The company that I work for is a customer service organization and we would not have any clients if we treated them the way Pitney Bowes treats us.

Stay away from Pitney Bowes. You can't get any customer service from them.

I used to think purolator was the worst until today. Useless customer service who had zero knowledge of anything to do with their shipping. We will be watching very closely to ensure we NEVER have to use them again. 1.2 star average is to good for this company. Zero responsibility, zero knowledge, zero care.

I had a bad experience with Pitney Bowes and a leasing of a mailing machine. They are very nice engaging you as a client, then you get unexpected and unreasonable charges for keeping the equipment updated, if you buy supplies from a less expensive source (Staples) you are putting in risk the equipment warranty and you should buy your supplies with them (very expensive). Once I returned the equipment they take back any "promotion" they gave you when you started your business with you. Finally I was asking the toll free representative to put me with Customer Service department, she said "we don't have a Customer Service department" (name: Tinisha), which i am sure is your real problem. Stay away from this provider and just buy stamps at Canada Post store.

If this can help one person to not have to go thro...

If this can help one person to not have to go through what our office went through with this company, my type writing this will be worth it. I became a manager for my office a year ago and I couldn't understand why we were even using this postage machine when it turns out more expensive than just going to Costco and buying rolls of stamps. Pitney Bowes ties you into a 5 year contract. Luckily, ours was up December 31, 2016. So we waited until that finished up. So you're loading your postage etc and the machine malfunctions (meaning there's a void in the stamp) and you have to do it again, you lose that money. And they'll tell you there's nothing that they can do about it because it's Canada Post. You have to clean the ink heads. They charge you for the postage, a leasing charge for the machine and an insurance charge as well. I asked them why are we being charge for insurance. We have insurance for all our contents within the office. So they never asked the previous manager if we had insurance. They just charge you until you actually ask them. They asked me to send a copy of the insurance policy and I did. Then they took of the monthly charge for that. End of January after our contract has expired and we've terminated with their services, they're still sending us invoices and every month, I have to wait a minimum of 20 minutes to speak to a human being, then I have to explain that we no longer have any contract with them. Then they pretend to just realize this. I asked them why hasn't this machine been picked up yet. They give me so many reasons such as: they put all shipping on hold because of the holidays. And I asked why the bill was so high for our last bill and they said it's really not $576.70. There was a typo and our balance is $56 something February, I call again because we're still with this machine and they send me a bill for the lease of this machine. I tell them the whole story and ask them why this machine is still here. They said they'll have it picked up right away and don't worry about the lease charges, they will reverse it. March, the machine is still here even though Glenda promised through email that someone will pick it up and we've even sent payment for the shipping. Now it's April and we get a notice that our account has been passed to a collections agency. Good thing all of my proof was in writing so I sent them to the collections agency. They apologized and said they are awaiting Pitney Bowes to reply to their inquiry. Please stay far away from this company. It's not worth the headache they cause.
