I thought it was great, I had a great time and thought it was the coolest convention I have ever seen.
Great Resort. So much you can do there. Replica New Orleans Bourbon Street that you can walk through at the resort with little shops and eateries. The Jambalaya Restaurant is great. Zanies comedy show is there at the resort and is a great spot for an Evening laugh. Indoors and outdoors pool. Golf course, spa...there is so much there. Cascade drive-in movie theater is 10 minutes down the street in West Chicago and also downtown St. Charles has lot of attractions to take a grab at.
Terrible. I have been to 3rd world countries with cleaner bathrooms. There was hair in the tub, and rust. When the water was run, it was black, and stank. The drain was clogged so the black water just hung around in the tub. The mat on the inside of the tub was filthy. The sink was equally bad cracked, and the water smelled. The front desk supervisor said people complain all the time, but clearly management doesn t care enough to make any changes. When asked about whether we could get more bottled water to brush our teeth (we couldn t shower, but we figured we should maintain some hygiene), we were told we had already received 2 complimentary bottles of water. Not sure the avenues to get this place officially inspected and shut down, but I would suggest that, if you care about your physical health and cleanliness at all, you should avoid this resort.
The resorts shows its age. It was ok at best and the amenities where ok. Certainly would not be a first choice for us to return.
Nice stay. Comforable. Close to some convonience stores. Pretty good food next door. The only thing that spooked me was their elevators.
We had a fantastic stay! Staff was friendly and helpful, anything we requested (such as extra towels, roll-away, etc.) were provided promptly. The place was very clean. It was child-friendly, mine enjoyed the stay, too. Rooms were updated and spacious. Food has mixed reviews: pizza was so-so, but the cafe had good food for breakfast and lunch. It's a great for a large group to get together (my family came for a reunion). There's quite a bit to offer in the area, too. A multitude of stores and malls to choose from across the street and down the roaf. Downtown St. Charles is about 5-10 min away, is quaint and has a lot to offer, too. Geneva is also only 10-15in away. You can take the Metra to downtown Chicago (or an abundance of stops in between) for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
Renovations are needed. Property has great potential...
Very nice and well maintained was a pleasure to stay there.
Attended a Ordination services at the arena/ all purpose building. The place got too cold unable to control temp.
The location as a whole is much improved from the last time I stayed here. It no longer feels as run down and worn out as it used to. It is clear they have put a lot of effort into bringing it up to date. Our breakfast experience was very sub-par. The restaurant was extremely understaffed, as if no -one warned them about how big our event was going to be. We only managed to get menus by asking another table if we could have theirs when they were done. When we did get food it was over cooked and over greasy. Powdered eggs at a breakfast buffet are better than what we were served. Tomorrow we will be getting up earlier so we have time to go to IHOP before we need to be at our booth.
Went to the family fun fest at the mega center an the kids had a blast. Well organized.
Amassing food and pools but currently there is a no pool toy rule but all and all the penthouse had a view of my old rental home great place you might like it!
Visited for Military History Fest, and the location is very nice. Lots of open space for all the displays and lots of parking. But did not see much else of what the place has to offer.
I attended a conference there that was held in a few different of the meeting rooms all rooms are nice and well kept and the staff was very friendly and helpful
Went to an event at the Mega Center. It's a bit dated inside. Seems older and not as kept up as the rest of the site.
What was supposed to be a nice resort vacation in a whirlpool suite for my birthday has turned into a nightmare. The phone and hairdryer did not work upon arrival. They brought us a hairdryer and showed us how to hold the phone cord just right so the phone would work. Whatever, it s vacation, so we aren t going to let that get us down.
Then the beeping started at midnight. Every 30 seconds BEEP BEEP BEEP. Front desk sent up security who was very nice and spent an hour trying to fix the broken smoke detector that was hard wired in the wall. He said the battery was dead and that maintenance left at midnight. We volunteered to go to Walmart to get a new battery, but he found a spare. Even with the new battery, it would not stop beeping.
We went to the front desk at 1:45am. They called maintenance and literally heard him say he s not coming in for that. They gave only one other room anywhere on the resort. We left our number and they promised to call us as soon as the whirlpool suite was fixed. So at 2am we had to move from our whirlpool suite to a tiny room across the resort with the loudest air conditioning I ve ever heard. Finally got to sleep at 3am but woke up repeatedly from the air conditioner turning on.
At 9am, my husband headed back to the old room to pick up some things we left. When he got there, no beeping! They had fixed the beeping already and forgot to call us. I was exhausted and in tears. Really I just want to go home.
I went to the front desk to talk about it, like the overnight person and security had told me to do. I was tearful and so tired. The manager Jessie said the best he could do was comp the night we didn t even get to spend in our suite. He really didn t even seem to care. As I was crying he said I don t understand the reaction, it s fixed and we comped the night . He went into the back room to call another manager and I heard him say this is ridiculous . One lovely front desk woman got me some water. They said no one could talk to me then but that they would call me, either on my broken room phone or my cell phone that they forgot to call me on earlier.
You would think on a holiday weekend at a large resort, they would have maintenance on site or a manager to speak to.
They really don t seem to care at all. I wish I was at home and not on vacation here.
UPDATE: The beeping was back again the very next night. What a nightmare! No maintenance after 11pm on a Holiday weekend. They brought us a new phone but that one didn t work at all, so we couldn t call about night two of beeping. Had to get dressed and walk down to the desk.
Check out my trip advisor review if you want to see pics of the dirty whirlpool
Stay at your own risk.
The room was mediocre at best. Our toilet was broken and had the carpet nice and wet by the time we departed. No exhaust in bathroom. Tub drained slowly/clogged. The view from the room over the golf course was great. The hotel itself was great. Boubon street is fun, I'll have to bring beads next time! Some of the best hot wings at jambalaya. We really enjoyed the late night party there too. The DJ was great. The outdoor pool was pleasantly warm. The indoor one was quite chilly. Enjoyed the bon fire. Had the zanies package too but after reading there was a two drink minimum per person we declined that part of the trip. To spend roughly $40 on just liquor is ridiculous. No complimentary breakfast. I rather enjoyed the art work in the halls which we interpreted in a late night drunken stupor. We met some fun people so all in all the trip was worth it. May return just because it's close by.
Builing and theatre are showing its age, less than organized shows and seating. Harvest restaurant is very nice.
Great location and plenty of fun things to do at the resort as well as in the surrounding area.
Came in with pain in joints, so not in such a great mood; regardless front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. The pool was the perfect therapy for my joint pain and the next day was a much less panful day. We enjoyed relaxing and eating at Jambalaya. And, we had the best time chatting in the thieves shop. The rooms are comfy and people are warm and welcoming. Can't wait to be back!
We went to Pheasant Run for the Thanksgiving brunch. The food was delicious and the staff was working very hard. The only complaint I have is that the tables were very close together and we felt kind of confined. I know that it's because they were very busy and I'm not exactly complaining, just trying to provide information to someone who might want to attend next year.
I was an overnight guest in the Tower. Fun and friendly atmosphere and great for kids. I've stayed here a few times with my family and with each visit they've had special crafts and activities for children. There are two pools on site, one of which flows from the inside to the outside and is heated appropriately, even in cold weather. Bourbon Street is fun when all the shops and restaurants are open. The building itself is old and worn, but we always have a great time and it's a good weekend getaway destination.
Our room had a nice view and was decorated ok. The sheets had a hole and dirt marks and there were someone else's crackers and crumbs so that was disappointing. The dinner at jambalaya was excellent. Wish the music was more energetic to dance to it was relaxing but we wanted more fun. Zanies was fun. Wish they wouldn't make such a big deal of paying at the end like of course we are going to pay it just was not so classy. The pool... In the morning people put their towels on the chairs then go eat and stuff then come back! That should be monitored and if you aren't there don't hold seats it's ridiculously rude. I did love the dj at the pool. Mixed drinks, I would have liked to see $7-8 bit beer was good price.
Cool place for the smaller trade shows and conventions. It's a pretty cool place, but I've never spent the night.
The pool is very nice however the water is salty, the weight room is very nice as well.
The room was dirty, moldy and not well updated. It clearly needs some TLC and proper management. I would not stay there again. But, their food options are decent, so dining there is fine.
Was attending the home show. Worth attending if you are looking to have work done for your home.
The reviews are true!!! I read the reviews before we stayed and just figured angry people wrote them. Not the case! We stayed for 6 days for my daughter's dance competition and it was rough. The fridge didn't work, spoiling all of our food. The sink sprayed water, the air leaked, the TV didn't work, and I woke up covered in ants (I hope they were ants). We spent more time with people in our room to fix things (which was a pain as we were trying to get our kiddos ready to dance) and no one was on the same page. The front desk lied about there being a manager on premise (which was confirmed by the manager when we finally talked to one). The front desk also lied about why things weren't working (confirmed by the maintenance staff while they were in our room). The only good thing I can say is that the "resort" did recoup us some of the money we spent on our stay, but that didn't make our stay any less stressful. If we do this competition next year, we will be staying at the hotel across the street.
I grew up staying here. going to the pool or ben and jerry s. it was great. I really will miss coming here and meeting friends and coming here to eat lunch with my mom. it was always such a fun time and a tradition between my mother and I.
My wife and I have stayed at this resort in the past and really enjoy our stay here! The staff is very kind and the resort has everything you need for total comfort! We are in our mid 60's in age and travel often for business. If you want to go somewhere where you have everything you need at your fingertips come here! Relax and enjoy!
This place is a dump! It s so outdated and the staff is very unfriendly and it s very dirty. I m glad it s closing and hopefully they bulldoze it cause it s such and eye sore when you drive by. Not to mention the stupid conventions that show up there. Boring!!!
Went to the the center, had a very large open room. Lots of parking. Great helpful staff. Staff kept the place clean with over 1,000 people inside.
Golf was great. Had a Groupon and played for cheap. Nice place overall. Looks like it used to be very popular but now looks a bit dated. Overall had a good time and would return.
I had booked this for a romantic night with my husband and we were really disappointed when we got into our room. Very outdated, the planks on the ceiling were all cracked, the water pressure in the bathroom was horrible, we had one of those old tv's in the room with horrible resolution. The worst part of all was the bed and that the breakfast buffet was almost $30 per person. We are definitely never going back there. Never again!
So far so good, foods great and the pools are a nice temp
The golf course was beautiful. The staff was great. Would play again and recommend.
PHEASANT RUN RESORT is always great. But alas I hear it has closed and the property is being sola.
As Judy Collins once sang: Dont it always seem to go that you dont know what you've got till its gone ... tear up a park and put up a parking lot. No more new pleasant PHEASANT RUN memories for all of us. Cheers!
Food was alright and they didn't have any sort of A/C so the room we had our prom in got hot fast.
Was not aware of everything available at pheasant run. Enjoyed the new Orleans themed section
Staff truly cares about the guests and go above and beyond to make sure everyones needs are met. Great atmosphere.
It's a decent place they really need to update some of the urinals don't even flush some of the rooms are very dated that stuff's falling off the walls in the hallways
Service was excellent. Our family is looking forward to returning again!
Went for the motorcycle show. It has a nice little section of shops, like a little ice cream parlor and restaurants. Can't say much else about the other areas of the facility.
If I could rate it one star I would. The food was terrible quality. The ice cream shop is open 2 days a week for a few hours. The water reeked of eggs I gagged brushing my teeth. There were bed bugs found in other people s bags and were bitten by them. The worst place I have every stayed. There was even a wedding next to the public pool with screaming kids. Horrible experience
I was reluctant on coming, but i'm so glad i did. Had the best time and the guest were so friendly and helpful. Will diffidently come back and enjoy the resort.
The rooms were set up wonderfully for the tabletop gaming events that I attended I have no idea about any of their other services but they can do a tabletop gaming convention any day
It is so unfortunate that I have to choose at least 1 star. We stayed at this "resort" for a friends wedding. The food at the wedding was and the wedding itself were amazing. The water in the room would not even get to warm after 10 minutes of trying. The water was not consumable as it smelled/tasted of metal/rust. I chose not to sleep under the blankets as they seemed dirty. Room was rated at 129 for the night, only to be surprised by a 15$ resort fee? Funny, we couldn't check in until 4 so I'm not sure what fee amenities I was even able to use before having to checkout by 11am the following day.
This is not the resort I remember as a kid. We will never be going here again.
Only golfed here. Course was beautiful, but carts need work or replaced. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pace of course was5.5 hours
Was a nice place to visit. Could definitely use some updating in the rooms tough
Went for Thanksgiving. It was buffet style. Everything was delicious and servers were wonderful
The room was dirty. The toilet seat looked 20 years old. AND...there were bugs! We went to the Hilton across the street!
Very old, room seemed dirty or at least stuffy, whole place needs renovating.
The bad....its a little dated.
The good:
The staff was very pleasant and genuinely kind. My wife and I truly enjoyed the 2 pools and the hot tub. The view looking out to the golf course from thr atrium is gorgeous. Then there's also Bourbon Street with all the little shops downstairs truly amazing.
I am astounded by their services. It has a very small town feel with their Bourbon Street. The coffee is great from the Terrace Cafe, and the refills are free! I'm staying here for a Mid-States event for camp counselors, and all the staff are awesome!
Stayed in the golf wing. Beds are comfy but carpet is so dirty it leaves socks/feet black. Water is sulfur based so smelly when bathing and brushing teeth. Staff is friendly, food is good, pools are nice but place is dated.
The stay was great. The rooms were what I would expect for the price. Lots of fun stuff to do.
Pheasant Run has had its ups and downs. In the past few years they have made some upgrades to the rooms and facilities. I think the best part about this resort is their pools! There are indoor and outdoor options to choose from. There are a few restaurants and shows on the weekends. Inside you will also find a spa for your relaxation. Their massages are amazing and will help you relax and enjoy your time away. Pheasant Run is located near some shops and not too far from downtown St. Charles. This is a great getaway for couples or families.
This is a resort with bar/pub,venue's for! entertainment of comedy, plays, musical plays, local entertainer's and a pool! And convention hall nextdoor ,gotta love it! And parking all over!
Pretty good, Bourbon Street is nice, saw a cockroach in the bathroom though
Wedding and reception. Employee's were kind and responded well to our needs.
Always a great place to go for professional events.
Wonderful night. We went to show and spent the night. Only bad thing was the Harvest Restaurant, neither my husband or myself finished our meal, wasn't very good.
Went to Zannies and won a free drink. I don't think they've changed the room since it opened. They've had some good headliners from time to time. We saw Kevin Nealon and Jim Gaffigan here.
