Don't expect any of those people employed by the council to actually help with a problem in any way. From the moment they answer the phone you know you are wasting your time, whether it is the Dog Warden, Footpath Officer, Environmental health, estates, you name it they will find an escape clause to get out of doing what they're actually paid to do, total waste of money. They only good thing about Pendle is it's close to countryside, but they even want to build all over that. There is not an option to give zero stars, so I'm force to give them 1.

Just had paper collection and video'd it. The recycling guy left half the paper on the street and didn't bother to pick up the paper he'd dropped. He then left the plastic bags in my open green bin so the wind took the bags and blew them down the street! No doubt they'll end up in a river somewhere! Disgusting. The litter on our streets is mainly due to shoddy recycling workers!!
Really bad service asked for some rubbish to be removed from back garden three times and they just didn't turn up.look at the state of nelsons streets do these guys actually do anything?losers
When are the council cleansing department going to sort the back street of Tavistock street out it is a disgrace some moron as put a skip in the middle of the back street which has been there for weeks so the council wont empty the bins why can the refuse department take the bins to the end of the street instead of just leaving them the backstreet is a right mess recipe for vermin , but the council will be quick enough to take the council tax out the bank absolutely terrible service !!!!!!

Only wanted to know why I haven't been sent my blue bin because everyone else has so they say first come first served 20min later he answered and said there still being delivered could take up to Sunday but try old him already delivered down mine but didn't drop me one off he said no idea why they didn't but should get by Sunday
Snow (even small amounts) means that they won't bother to attempt to empty your bins. Then for some reason they would rather lie to you and tell you that they have now been emptied, rather than just tell the truth and say that it'll take days for them to clear the backlog. It seems you have to submit a complaint just to get a honest answer.

Worst council. Useless unprofessional people at every department. No protection from bad neighbours. No proper communication, no proper waste collection. They don't know what they are doing, confusion all the time. Now they are hidden behind computers and there is even more confusion. They send you irrelevant answer in email to which you can not reply because they use "do not reply to this email" service. Very handy to get rid of complaints. So, you have to complete that complaint form once again which creates even more confusion! Nice! I can't dispose my paper waste. They did not give me any blue bin and when I put out a plastic bag with paper waste they just simply don't collect it, though it is clearly visible that inside there is paper and nothing else. COUNCIL! Sack all the lazy lot and employ people who actually want to do a proper job!

Number on website does not exist apparently! Tried ringing it to sort my council tax payments out, now that I've moved house and the first letters they sent me were wrong- but now I can't get through! Sure they'll contact me when they want their money though!
Their ineptitude is endless, they specilise in frustrating anyone who actually wants to talk to someone in person about their issue, particularly waste collection, repeated attempts to contact them are diverted to even more mindless recorded messages or voicemails & then the phone will go dead after prolonged waiting, I'm forced give them one star as there's no zero option
Although the website is useless and it took me 20 minutes to get to speak to someone, once I got through Aiden was polite and very helpful in resolving my issue. It just goes to show not everyone working at Pendle Borough Council is unhelpful like the other reviews suggest. I only gave it 4 star due to the website otherwise Aiden deserves 5 stars for his customer service.
This review is based on the Pendle Borough website and the general incompetence and misinformation of it. I am moving to a new house, and I'd like to know how to apply for council tax, but I can't without an 'Account Reference Number' which I don't have, and cannot find how to get using the information of the site. If there's one thing that the council want, it's your hard earned, government taxed income. And then standard practice is to urinate it down the drain on some hairbrained project and/or pocket it for themselves.
Anyway, I've searched high and low all over the Pendle Borough website, and even their own PDF guide documents, with links to the site and supposed relevant pages, are filled with erroneous and outdated information that leads you to a dead end. It told me to follow steps that are clearly no longer available on the site. So once again with these gravy-train highwaymen-and-women, their left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. And all the while we're paying for the privilege of this farce, or at least in my case, trying to pay for it. And don't think that because I'm unable to pay it right here and now, that they won't ensure to squeeze back pay out of me at a later date, even though it's their bungling that has caused the problem in the first place.
And Lord Tony Greaves, I'd love to know what empirical evidence you have at your disposal which drew you to the conclusion that vacant housing "....causes an increase in anti-social behaviour", the reason given by you to explain why there is no longer a 100% (and then subsequently revised 50%) council tax rebate for houses vacant for six months, since revised again and now currently a mere 100% rebate for 28 days of vacancy. You'll fabricate and say anything to justify picking our pocket further, won't you?! You sir, are a disgrace! Get a real job and see it from working people's vantage point for a change.
A bigger gang of money grabbers and wasters you ll be hard pressed to meet. Slash spending for everything yet the place is falling to pieces. Charged for anything and everything had the audacity to send a questionnaire about spending on parks and events like Christmas and Easter - nothing about cutting the councillors pay to nil for running the Borough into the floor though. Scum.
Pam is possibly the worst staff member you employ. Slow drawing voice, unpleasant, doesn't want to help in the slightest. Your other staff members are nice in comparison and try hard. Pam is severely incompetent and doesn't understand a basic question. Other than that the communication for if you have over paid is slow but if you have underpaid is ridiculously fast. Council tax rates are high like everywhere and you don't see where your money is going with lack of police, waste on the streets and council funded centres closing. And getting any form of support is difficult (if you're not on benefits).
Totally useless ! Called them and they are very evasive regarding answering questions. The answer to every question is that we don't deal with that, we just ensure that you're making your payments. What a bunch of useless people!!!
Absolutely disgraceful council .. I asked for my old bath to be picked up from my back yard,as I cant take it my self because I only drive a mini .. I pay 131 a month council tax but I was met by a snotty worker saying I had to pay extra.. even though I pay my council tax every month.. I said it's a 20 minute job . She replied by saying that's not for you to decide how long it takes even though I'm paying ... I said I will stand there and watch em take it and record em to see how long it takes ..that shut her up ... The whole council are just a bunch of thieving bullys
Disgraceful and they make things up about people if you complain that the streets needs better cleaning numerous times. Cleaned up a street I lived on once for just over a whole hour as I was sick of all the mess which really they are paid to not people not employed by them - what do we pay the council tax for!!
Absolutely disgraceful organisation....I just phoned to inform them that our garden waste 'collection' resulted in a quarter of the contents still being in situ when I picked the bin back up.Upon speaking with someone,I was informed that 'I can't log this today,as the system doesn't allow it for the same day - can you phone back tomorrow.....??' Is this why we pay for the privilege of having our garden waste collected??? On top of this year's council tax increase,it would seem that Pendle Council's 'customer service' has spiralled even further south.Terrible council - no wonder the area resembles a third world environment....
Nelson councill is like a modern day robin hood but a evil one ..... iam paying 10's of thousand of pounds to councill no relief just keeps going up and every so often I receive a hidden bill.... thank you nelson council how do you guys sleep at night???????
I found the Environmental health department extremely unhelpful when asking for advise. They seem to have no idea or information about anything and just trot out pat statements.
First thing that occurs when you phone them is you get a mindless recorded voice answering the phone; it's like something out of League of Gentlemen telling you how much time you can save if you do it on-line though this automated process takes 5 minutes before you actually speak to a real person, it's like a kind of mockery for the effrontery to call them. Pendle Council generally sucks in every way but without doubt the most irritating aspect is the refuge collection. For the second fortnight in a row they have failed to collect the waste paper for recycling, at least today it was just the paper, last fortnight it was the paper & plastics, this is not an exception, it is the norm. Virtually every week there is some issue with waste collection , like today because there was no collection, paper is blowing around in the wind making the area look like a right mess. And don't be surprised to learn that if they ever send a road sweeper out it comes day BEFORE the refuse collection is supposed to be collected not after, joined up thinking... not.
Try all the time to avoid speaking to anybody. Send around various telephone messages each telling you to do it yourself on line. No help for people without a computer. Even if you manage to speak to a person , they then tell you to do it yourself on a computer. The people are lazy and dont want to help anybody. Get rid of the staff, they dont want to do any work.
