I would say it's an ok place to visit. The staff tries hard but they really can't deliver on the product - food, drinks, and property are 3rd world quality. Lower your bar of expectations and you'll enjoy your visit. There are many great excursions to experience on the island, which is why you should come. All resorts are about the same based on conversations with others.

Beautiful resort, very friendly staff, delicious food and drinks. Our room was pretty old and beat up in the Now Garden 7000 building but it was clean and the mini fridge was kept stocked with beer, soda and water. The balcony jet tub was super old and didn't work right. They have every type of cuisine imaginable in the resort and it is delicious and included. They keep a staff of timeshare salespeople, avoid them! They will follow and harass you. We took every passage possible to avoid the man appointed to us. The beach is relaxing as long as you ignore the constant harassment from people trying to sell you stuff (trinkets, braids, jewelry, drugs, etc). Also you are swimming in the Atlantic on this side of DR, the ocean is the same as if you were at beaches farther north (Carolinas, Florida). The pools were clean and beautiful, loved the swim up bars. Everywhere you walk you will be offered free beverages, we never went without a drink in our hand. Daily and nightly entertainment was fantastic.

The experience in this hotel to the truth that is summarized in one word (excellent). It is a family hotel that has activities for everyone, the service was sooooo good the only thing is that some employees saturate you a bit asking you to recommend them on holiday pages (Tr .... Or), very good food at all Restaurants and rooms perfect for a romantic getaway. I did not want to stay in this hotel

Nice hotel nice room, good breakfast but waiting to eat at night in restaurants, work, some staff not very nice, you have to be 18 years old to go to the disco hotel, I have two teenagers of 16 and 17 years old, I think it's not really appropriate .....

Incredible resort where the attention to the details is always present. There are several pools and a lot of long chairs on the beach. Wi-Fi access is everywhere. The waiters will friendly bring you great cocktails and ask about your day.

Do take the Preferred Club option since it allows you to access to two quite swimming pools and a better part of the beach

This hotel is very nice and the service is awesome but I cannot give 5 stars due to the fact that, as soon as we checked in they tried to trick us into pressure sell tactics for their Unlimited AMresort plan. This was a very annoying thing in an otherwise great vacation.

Very bad hotel, surely the worst I have ever been to in Punta Cana. The service was lousy, they treated you like animals, the transportation inside the hotel was very bad. Few people were respectful to customers. The food was never good in any of its restaurants and the rooms came with different problems such as bathrooms without doors, hot tubs with unheated water, hot tubs that flooded the room. Its beach was just as bad, I don't know what the sea water had, but other tourists and I suffered from allergies and skin irritations when bathing. Not recommended at all.

Dangerous childcare and dreadful food

Dangerous childcare and dreadful food

This review is intended to be as honest an factual as possible and I will try to cover all aspects of our experience both good and bad.

Firstly room 1 our tropical view was of a staff area with a hole in the ground and what appears to be wasteland.

The mini bar did not function and dispite requests for this to be fixed it was not.

Child endangerment from the kids club

This was our biggest issue and I urge all parents to consider this point before opting to use the explorers club facilities at this hotel.

Our daughter who is 4 years old on the second day was playing on the beach with the kids club when mum noticed she appeared to be missing. Upon investigation I found my daughter to have been left alone in front of the bar area in the middle of the beach in 30 degree heat with not so much as a glass of water.
She was crying hysterically as she said she had been left there because she didn't want to play one of the games and also commented that the lady threw away her water. Obviously when I questioned why she had been left on the beach the staff responded by stating she was being watched by a security guard and this was the only justification for leaving her in that state.

I complained to the hotel manager who apologised and upgraded our room to a partial sea view with prefered club included.

Upon entry to the new room the safe was locked and I was unable to use it and dispite repeated requests it took over an hour for someone to come and fix it.

Food

The single biggest let down here apart from the bismal that is the kids club is the food.

I would say the best meal is breakfast and the quality is exactly the same regardless of if you are in the prefered club or not. I would say the breakfast is poor but edible overall.

Blue water grill - dreadful starters cold badly cooked fries that have obviously been cooked in bad oil and the steak you will struggle to find meat in amongst the endless fat.

Spice good overall nice setting and nice starters also the main course was good on our visit. Overall this is the best evening option.

The Mexican inedible absolutely dreadful from start to finish. Do not order the taco basket the only way I can describe this taste is to compare it to the smell of manure and the fajitas feature watery discoloured chicken that we did not even wish to try.

Room service.

Takes a long long time and they rarely get the order right on our last night serving cold fries and missing 2 pizzas off the order entirely.

Fajitas stale pittas with the same watery beef or chicken the only good part being the pico de gallo and guacamole.

Pizza varies in quality from edible to very poor off tasting cheese and poor quality of toppings.

Kids chicken freezing as we're the chips

Macaroni cheese over cooked and watery.

Burger asked for well done and served totally pink in the middle.

Overall don't bother with the room service at all.

Beach the beach here is spectacular and they do try very hard to remove as much seaweed as possible but it just keeps coming. Varied drinks service at the beach but overall good.

Pools the pools again are top class lovely and clean and very visually pleasing water was always a nice tempurature. Our favorite were the two prefered pools which are lovely.

Drinks

Drinks vary massively in the resort as some members of staff appear to be very good and actually put a lot of effort into the preparation of the drinks. However others are dreadful poorly mixed full of water and you do find yourself chucking one away and going to another bar to see if the next barman knows how to mix a cocktail.

Overall if you can I would advise you to change hotel if you are at all interested in food or childcare

My family is Dominican, I believed I would come here and atleast get a taste of Dominican life. The rooms are nice, the pool is nice but the food and drinks are bad!!!. I thought I would be seeing some rice and beans. What I ate was some wanna be white European caca. I wanted some authentic Dominican food section was I got was a white version of that. Maybe it's just because I'm Dominican and my family cooking is amazing. But come on people food here is bad. Drinks are super water down and cheap. Even the on brand drinks taste like watered down. I have Malibu on rocks straight and it taste like alot of melted ice. Maybe it's just that I'm picky with my experience because I'm Dominican I expected more.

I stayed at Larimar Now for 6 days. The grounds we're maintained daily, the staff was very friendly....Excellente! The available restaurants on the grounds can use a revamp with menu. I wasn't too impressed with food. There should be more authentic food from the carribean. During the day in between dinner and breakfast, there isn't a lot of food options available. There isn't a lot of entertainment during that time either. I found the excursions were way too expensive so I ended up chilling by the pool for way too many hours.

The resort is amazing. The staff is friendly. The bartenders do a great job. Genni even showed my son how to balance a glass on its side, it was cool. The lunchtime buffet is good. The main restaurant is worth it. You get an entree and a buffet. They have local and continental food. It is more low key than Larimar but it's a short walk or golf cart ride to the beach.

The facilities of the hotel are acceptable what I do not understand is that a hotel with these characteristics does not have enough sun loungers for its clients in the beach area, let's not talk about the pool .. impossible mission very saturated and instead of relaxing a bit cramped ...I will not come back

The Now Larimar is definitely not a 5 star hotel. ...

The Now Larimar is definitely not a 5 star hotel. It's about a 3.5 at best.

If we start with the positive:
- The explorer's club for children is amazing.
- The entertainment is definitely one of the best I've ever seen.
- The coffee place is great, the lattes are very good.
- The Spice restaurant is better than local Asian restaurants back home, definitely try it!
- The pools and beach have a lot of chairs in the shade or the sun, as you wish. Service is also pretty good by the pool or the beach.

On the list of the negative things

- We didn't feel safe in the resort. We forgot our key inside the room on the first night and when I went to the lobby and asked for a key, I had the wrong room number. The clerk asked for my name and gave me the key to the room I asked for. Naturally it didn't open my room but it did open the door to the room I mistakenly asked for. I then asked my husband to try to get our key but with a fake name- They gave him the key. Usually the clerk will follow you to the room before giving you a double of the key and make sure of your identity...

- The rooms in the second block are old, dirty and smell like mold.

- The carnival buffet is dirty. The table cloths are stained with grease and the staff doesn't bother changing it.

- The pool has green algae and needs renovations. My husband got a cut from pieces of ceramic that were broken in the pool.

- The drinks they make are made with regional booze. It's not necessarily bad but if you know your drinks it will taste different.

- The staff seems to have trouble speaking English. They don't always understand you which causes misunderstanding and frustration. On weekends a lot of Dominicans come to spend some time at the hotel. They get a great service since they can speak proper Spanish and it's easier for the staff to understand them.

We wouldn't go back. There is absolutely nothing about this hotel that makes it worth it for us.

Horrible food and cheap liquor and rooms smell of mold. Preferred vip does not make it any different. Pools close at 7pm. This place is a joke. If someone has a great review it is probably because they never been to a really nice place before.

It does not reach the five in my understanding. The hotel is not bad, I was here seven years ago, the food changed, it became a little worse and the beach restaurant became for those who are from a privileged club, which is not very convenient. The beach is nice, the staff is very friendly and friendly. My daughter cut her finger in the pool, I don t know about that, but a lifeguard immediately came up with a first-aid kit and treated the wound. Alcohol of good quality, in some bars they pour for example a red label. We were in August, the weather is good, but algae in the ocean were occasionally there, but this does not prevent swimming. The hotel area is well-groomed and beautiful, it is clear that they are being watched. My advice is to give a couple of dollars in a bar and you will be remembered. Animators are very cool. Special thanks mr. superman.

The food looked much better than it tasted, and the drinks were extremely inconsistent. The staff can t speak English and order taking is a challenge. The resort clearly caters to the Euro people and not Americans beware. Half the staff was impolite and the resort was poorly designed where everything is not central. You need to shuttle to get to parts of the resort, it was awkward. I will say the resort was very clean. Been to many all inclusive resorts this is a NEVER AGAIN.

We have just returned from a 12 day stay at now Larimar, and we absolutely loved our stay although there were a few slight things that were not 100% which lets the hotel down... firstly our room wouldn t get cleaned till after 5 which was a little late for us when wanting to come to the room to relax before dinner, the mini bar wasn t restocked on one occasion not sure how they can skip a room and turn down service was skipped a few nights to. Rooms were clean and spotless when we arrived but they wouldn t clean to the same standard throughout the stay. Shame that restaurants would be shut 2/4 in the evening and we were not made aware of this either some of the restaurants had excellent service and the others not as great, some occasions you would get harassed to buy wine from the menu. Pool bar was great in the preferred area we were looked after by a lovely lady but when she was on her days off we hardly got served a drink all day. Knowing we stayed in a family resort but it could get very loud round the pool and would think maybe having an adult only area would be great for those wanting to relax at the preferred pool. Beach was beautiful a little bit of seaweed but this was cleaned and maintained regularly as much as they could. Entertainment team were great and Cappachino was very welcoming to us. Good variety of food during breakfast lunch and dinner, the teriyaki show was amazing and would highly recommend.

Very beautiful resort & location with personable staff. However, our room was vented horribly & had no venting fan or dehumidifier, so when we arrived it obviously smelled of mildew. When we notified the front desk, they said there was a room available, but they needed to check our story first. After awhile someone came to clean the room & insisted that the smell was better, even though now it just smells like mildew & cleaning supplies. Because the room never dried out, any personal items left out became damp from the room's humidity.

This led to us enduring the room and thus not able to recommend this resort.

Good resort. All inclusive with lots of activities, especially in the evening, to keep you occupied. The premises are kept clean and staff are friendly. No mosquitos that I was able to see. There is a kids club with lots of activities for kids to keep the little ones busy while the parents can go explore by themselves. However, the maintenance of the rooms could use some improvement.

I really enjoyed my week there, we where there for a wedding. The food was outstanding the service was exceptional. Where we stayed the hotel was quite which was the first hotel the second one is for family and the third area is party central. The locals will ask if you wanna go to Walmart but I would not walk off the resort.

The value for money is very good. It has everything necessary for the client to feel comfortable. The food is very good and there are many options so you don't get tired. The rooms are fine, although those who want to go I recommend that they choose the ones furthest from the central square due to the noise of the music from the disco.
But if there is something that I liked about this hotel it has been its staff. People with unbeatable attention, always with a smile and concerned that the stay is perfect.
Omega, Jayz, Cappuccino, Arcangel from the animation team are super fun. Willy the beach waiter a sweetheart and Danny from security a special person.
My sincere congratulations!

Very good hotel

Very good hotel
I have already visited many hotels and this hotel scores very high in terms of friendliness! Agree the service could be slightly better but this is offset by genuine friendliness of the very hard working staff. The rooms feel a bit dingy. But they are just. This is due to insufficient lighting in the room. Our room was still a bit dated and there may be more pressure on the water to shower. Preferred club is recommended. Breakfast at Casteways Restaurant is delicious (lunch too). Swimming pools are fine. I also think the entertainment as a whole. The entertainment team is TOP! Garden is neat and pretty. The theme restaurants are okay. Nevertheless, the Mexican restaurant was a disappointment for us. Most bars serve soft drinks such as cola, fanta etc. from bottles. This is a plus. The upholstery of the restaurants are rather kitschy! But is not disturbing. During the evening it is nice to stay on the plaza of the hotel and there is also entertainment for children. Childcare is possible. Child friendly stay! Although not freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast, other squeezed fruit juices, but I think it is kind of smoothies. The best towel service ever! You can take several per day, never experienced especially in the context of the environment. This hotel is different from the RUI chains, is more American oriented but nevertheless not worse maybe better ... And fewer Belgians. The dishes are okay but you do not have to come here to fill yourself up gastronomically. Catamaran and kayaking are available for free. Hotel is not too far from airport. Mind you, the beach of the hotel is just adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean and is therefore rougher than the Caribbean Sea. Would I come back ... Yes! An 8.9 out of 10.

Staff are very friendly and the accommodations are nice. The distinction between proffered club members and regular guests is noticeable and annoying. You will also be constantly asked by the sea pro people to buy an excursion while you are in the pool at the resort. Nightly entertainment is awesome. We had our wedding there Bd it went well and our wedding planner Angela was amazing to work with. She helped us have a great wedding night and made sure our night was special.
